Had dinner last night w/ my Allentown son who dines at really good restaurants and we both agreed that the food was excellent. We shared two appetizers, mussells and another little asian appetizer, entree pasta, one w/ vodka sauce. Salads were perfect. All was delicious. Now for the negative. Bread and dip, tiny, had to ask for another; mussells were excellent, other appetizer tiny. Entrees were perfect, but also quantity minimal. And the most negative of all, the notice on each table, "stay for only 2 hours!!!" Also, the menu had tons of "extra charges", ie. vodka sauce "extra charge" and many like that. BAD decision of owners!!!! Charge more for everything but do NOT add "extra charges" for a host of items. Bad feelings when dining to see a huge list of "extra" charges. One expects in an Italian restaurant that quantity will be present. two tiny pieces of bread 2" in diameter per customer is pathetic. Again, the kitchen does a fabulous job. The owner, with her decisions on extra charges and a table notice, 2 hours and you are out is disappointing. read more

Hey there Friends, 8/10/17 I found another MUST visit place. I was recently back in PA to visit the family and we decided to try Abbiocco. We inquired as to the name and it loosely translates to that feeling of satisfaction after a good meal or "food coma". The restaurant is quaint and impeccably clean. It is also Pet Friendly, with an outside deck to accommodate the furry members of the family. On to the service and food. Our waitress (Tori) was FANTASTIC, she had a great sense of humor and very attentive to our needs. The menu can be described as an Italian fusion with plenty of options for all types of eaters. I chose to have their Tuna Tartar which is served with the most delicious fried wontons ( I will be going back for that) it was honestly THAT good. I was also treated to a delicious pecan/cranberry salad that had a beautifully balanced vinegarette. The rest of our table dined on Italian fare. The portions are more than ample, and everyone had enough to take home with them. Currently the restaurant is BYOB. This place is a definite keeper and I will be visiting when in town. I love the atmosphere here! We were just stopping in to grab a quick bite to eat between home hunting and we decided to come here, everyone literally knows everyone here! You seat yourself and it's all BYOB which is so cool cause you leave your bottle there and they use it for decoration lol talk about a great way to recycle all their food is made in house and it's delicious! I had the fried ravioli and it was so yummy! I really wanted to try dessert but we were on a time crunch and had to leave! They have an amazing savory sauce I used to dip my husbands sweet potato fries and it's so good and original I don't believe I've ever had that at another restaurant. I cannot wait to go back again! Lovely lunch. I had the meatball sub with a side salad. The meatballs were homemade and a good size. My daughter had the 'lantic City (not a typo). Fresh tasty turkey with garlic mayo and cranberry spread. My daughter got sweet potato fries with two dips and the fries were hot and delicious. The dips made them even tastier. What made both these sandwiches excellent was the bread quality. The sub roll was fresh and soft with enough sturdy chewiness to hold up to the meatballs. My wife and I had a great dinner! We live near by but this was our first visit. As far as I'm concerned, the test of a great Italian restaurant is a good chicken parmesan meal. It was fabulous! Two healthy size pieces of chicken along with the pasta of my choice. My wife is gluten sensitive so she is a little harder to accommodate but the waiter was knowledgeable and helpful. The prices were reasonable, especially given the size of the meals. It is BYOB for those who that is important to. Very relaxing upscale atmosphere. Any clean dress style seams appropriate. Finally got around to trying Abbiocco. we were there on a Saturday, so one would expect a full house, and it was. The service was slow, probably due to the fact that they were understaffed for a busy night. Our waitress was very pleasant but hurried. Although the menu cautioned us that each entry was prepared to order, it took quite a while. The menu had a large selection and the food was good but not of fine dining quality. The food is always fantastic. I wish the restaurant itself was a bit bigger, because space for seating is pretty limited. I think that the food is so good, that Abbiocco would do much better in a larger space. They could quickly become a staple for gatherings and events. They have awesome Italian food and inventive specials, but also served some middle eastern/Mediterranean fare. There are quite a few vegetarian options also, which I greatly appreciate. The owners and wait staff are so welcoming and generally nice that going here is a pleasant experience. It's also BYOB, which is a huge plus. read more

Everything from olives when we sat down to salad, to sandwich to chicken wings was a little different than you get anywhere else....... all different in a GOOD way. The people writing these reviews must know the owners. We went there last night. It wasnt busy there were maybe 10 people there. We sat down and it took awhile for the waiter to come over. Maybe he was new but it seemed like he has been there awhile. Anyway, the service was VERY SLOW. we had to ask another waitress to bring us stuff. I asked for a coke and was brought a 20 oz. Bottle of coke and glass of ice. It's also a BYOB which is fine. We didnt know before hand so we ran to the wine and spirits down the road for a bottle. When we were done I had to walk up to the counter for a take out box and ask the waiter for the check. Now the food. This restaraunt isn't italian/lebanese. More like american/italian with a lebanese dish. We got the taste of lebanon and the abbiocco chicken. You would think for an "italian" restaraunt they would have a home made house dressing not Kens balsamic. Yes kens. The chicken was good. Unfortunately the portion was so small I really didnt have time to enjoy it. It was about 2 or 3 oz. Of chicken. And the rest was pasta, not worth $15.95. The marinara was good the pasta was ok. Wish I had more chicken. The lebanese dish was not totally authentic lebanese. The kusa( stuffed squash) was good. Very tasty. A little too much spice but not a big deal. The yogurt was ok, Cucumber and mint. Not enough garlic if any. But the spinach pies were cheap. My gram is lebanese and makes these, and takes no short cuts. Makes the dough by hand. But these are pillsbury biscuit dough. Literally. We looked at each other and said the same thing. Its spinach in a rolled pillsbury butter bicuit. NOT AUTHENTIC AT ALL. Not very flavorful. This place definitly has potential but really really needs to up their game. Needs more homemade than store bought. Dont cut corners and make it either italian/lebanese (aka.mediterranean) or italian american. The menu was all over the place. The three stars is generous because i think they are still trying to figure it out. If this place is open another 6 months maybe ill give it another shot, but not anytime soon read more

I'm not sure if I just went on an off day but I was not impressed by their food or their service. I'm vegetarian and got the eggplant parm, which was really undercooked and the eggplant was still hard. The fettuccine Alfredo was pretty good. Service was also slow, my group of 3 waited almost 50 minutes for our food to come out even though the restaurant was fairly empty. I would like to support the restaurant since it's new in town but unless the quality of the experience changes I probably won't be going back. read more

I decided to give this new place a try when the diner next door had no seats left for lunch. Boy, was I glad I did! The food was extremely fresh, the menu selection very healthy AND creative, and the prices in line. I loved the baby spinach, roasted chickpeas, and citrus dressing with shaved Parmesan. I've had it 3 times and it doesn't fail to impress. I like that the pasta is served family style with four or more sauces ("gravy", for the diehard Italians!), and fresh salads. Of course it comes to us with great pedigree. The owner is a member of the Brutico family from the infamous Old Forge restaurant and brings with her the knowledge of fine food and service. I agree that the tables have been empty but no longer. Went there for lunch last week and no empty tables. The owner, Rose, told me they have not had a formal opening yet. Maybe they don't need one??? Do need some work on the service. Youngsters who will do well with a few more weeks under their belts. read more

Last month I ordered takeouts from Abbiocco. The reason I did that was because on that day, the restaurant was donating 15% of their profits to a different animal shelter each week. That week their 15% profits were to benefit Roxie's Cat Rescue in Covington Township. PA where I volunteer each week. I wanted to support both Roxie's Place and a restaurant who does such a generous thing for animals. We were amazed at how good the food was and also the size of the portions. The adjectives I heard used to describe the food by several people who ordered takeouts were outstanding, fantastic and delicious. The 2 items I ordered were the Seared Scallop Dinner and the Spaghetti Carbonara. I went there the first time simply to support Roxie's Place by my future visits will be for the excellent food. Needless to say, I will be going back to Abbiocco very soon. Any restaurant who is willing to donate 15% of their profits to animal shelters deserves all of the support we can give them. read more

We've been wanting to try this place for awhile and when we finally did tonight we were slightly disappointed. Not because the staff wasn't overly friendly but because there wasn't enough staff to begin with. The food was good but it wasn't gourmet where it should of taken as long as it did. We were there for two hours and the only time consuming meal we ordered was risotto and salmon. The rest was fried, and salads. I'd like to give it another try here as the food was good but I'd like better service. read more

Have loved the food and service here for quite some time. Over the weekend I ordered a large order for takeout, to help out this great small business during this time. I was appalled when the workers insistently kept asking for a tip on the order. The order was not cheap, as I was ordering for my whole family, and was only eating out to help the business during this time. Over the phone AND in person, I was asked to include a tip. It was extremely rude and insensitive on their part. I was ordering a large order to help them out, not necessarily because I was thrilled to be spending money on eating out during a pandemic. Everybody is struggling, and I was trying to help the business by ordering food. To be badgered for a tip is NOT acceptable. It was not like I was being waited on, they were delivering my food, or bringing it to my car for a contactless delivery. They should be more considerate and remember that most people have lost their jobs, and ordering takeout from restaurants is not necessary from people- they are just doing it to keep the businesses they like in business. read more

The food was amazing and we have ordered from here a few times now. Unfortunately the reason for the one star review is because the owners have no regard for COVID-19. I am not one to leave bad reviews typically. But people need to know before they eat here. I was at this restaurant last week and noticed the employees in the kitchen don't wear masks. They have curtains hanging so you can't really see into the kitchen. However, I did happen see into the kitchen at one point while paying. To my surprise, NOBODY WAS WEARING A MASK WHILE PREPARING THE FOOD! Further, several people who are Facebook friends with the owners told me they traveled to Texas recently and did not quarantine at all upon their return to PA which is against PA's COVID-19 protocol. I hate to be the bearer of bad news because the food is typically very good but I can't put my family at risk since my son has asthma and is at risk of suffering severely and possibly dying if he is infected. read more

My family and I ate lunch today at the Abbiocco restaurant. Waitress and the food was great; however, because they make everything fresh it will take a while. The complaint I have is that I placed an order of meatballs to go at the time I made my lunch order. However, for some reason it took forever for the kitchen to get the order of meatballs ready. It should have been an easy task to complete; but it took forever to prepare. I paid my bill and waited an additional 15-20 minutes before I received my order of meatballs to go (4 meatballs - no sauce?). To make matters worse they did not even put any sauce on the meatballs. I have gotten meatballs at Abbiocco in the past and they are great but for some reason today it appears that the kitchen was not up to par. I will eventually go back and eat there again because the food is very good, even the meatballs Again, I cannot stress enough that the waitress was excellent, she was not to blame. She placed the order timely, it was the kitchen that was the source of the problem. read more

Wow! I guess you can't please everyone! My experience has always been favorable. I've been there 4 times; once with my daughter for dinner, twice with my husband for dinner, once with my husband for lunch. All visits had prompt service and really good food with us being very satisfied. My husband has traveled the world, been to Italy twice and thought the marinara sauce was excellent. BTW, we did not know the owner was affiliated with the Old Forge restaurant until the 4th visit! Maybe the dissatisfied customers got a different chef than we had. I would give it 5 stars but there is always room for improvement. read more

We went to Abbiocco last night for Valentine's Day. The restaurant was crowded but that was OK. They had a fixed menu for two that was wonderful and the price for two was very reasonable -- $50. I want to love this restaurant and I want to go back but, in my opinion, they need to make a few adjustments. First, the restaurant is always cold to me. When I see people eating with their coats on, that is a problem. This is the second time I noticed the temperature of the restaurant could have been warmer. When the first course arrived, the flatbread, it was wonderful in flavor but it could have been much hotter. We waited quite a while for the flatbread. So, if it is being served immediately why was it room temperature at best??? The salad was delicious -- I love their poppy seed dressing. We did wait quite some time for our main course. When the main course arrived, it was delicious. Once again, they could have been hotter -- I just don't understand that if the food is being served right away, why isn't the temperature of the food hotter? I can't imagine it is sitting there, waiting to be served, very long -- as I said, we waited quite a while for our main courses. The eggplant rollatini and the chicken saltimbocca were wonderful. The dessert crepes were fabulous. Plan on 2-1/2 hours for dining at this restaurant. It is very slow. I will definitely give it another try -- hopefully they will take into consideration some of my concerns. Our waiter was wonderful -- very attentive, very apologetic for the long wait between courses. We gave him a good tip -- he deserved it. Damion worked very hard last night. My rating should be 3-1/2 stars (but that wasn't an option). read more
