I love the awnings installed by Wen Han! It is like I have a second living room in my backyard! I am not entertaining inside my house because of Covid, so I wanted to have a comfortable cool area outside. The LED lights on the awning are great, thought they would only be decorative but great at night . Price was really reasonable for the product . I needed a solution for a high window in our family room that took a large amount of sun. I tried several window companies for an electric interior solution but they were not interested as the job was too small or the windows too high. I thought I would use an external solution/brand and called Abby's. Barry (owner) answered the phone and went full nerd on the issue in the best of ways. He provided solid advice and solution alternatives on the phone. He visited the home and again provided solid advice and options. Measurements were taken twice , an electric wired awning ordered in colors that complemented my home exterior while providing the esthetics and light/heat blocking solution I wanted. Abby's back office (Krissy) was easy to reach by phone and email. In six weeks from the initial call my awning was installed in a professional manner and I am very happy with the quality of product and installation . Note, things may take a while to get ordered and installed (summer 2023) as the suppliers are backed up. They came out within a day of calling them. He measured and then alleviated my concerns because I was not sure that the awning may not be for my house. He showed me multiple pictures of homes like ours that had awnings. He knew the correct color to match our house. It was a move that was bold , but it made the house really stand out in a classy way. We needed our electronic approximately 300 pound awning taken off our roof so that roofers could repair the cement shingles around the awning brackets, then replace it once the roof work was completed. They also replaced the awning fabric with new fabric. They were timely, courteous, diligent and efficient, all at a fair price, and now have a repaired roof and electric awning that is like brand new, and beautiful. Unprofessional service and extremely rude owner! I wish I could have put minus 5 star. They took our blinds for cleaning and used bleach on yellow blinds! Then called me to say that our blinds were white to begin with!!!! When I didn't accept it, Barry took the phone and started yelling at me that why I say the blinds were not white and why I complain about them being white and hung up on me!!! We ended up with purchasing new blinds and not even receiving back the old ones which they took from our house. Their behaviour is completely unprofessional. They don't take responsibility for their action. They have left us without blinds for the past few weeks were the temperature has been in high 90s most of the time. They are total disaster, unprofessional, and rude. Basically they don't know what they are doing! Don't waste your time and money over there. read more

I had this outfit clean my Hunter Douglas silhouette blinds. After cleaning and re-installation, the blinds were no longer functional. The pull-string pulled through the mechanism without raising the blinds at all. Prior to cleaning, the blinds worked perfectly. We were told to drop off the blinds for inspection and possible repair. Before doing so, I called to ensure that Abby's was willing to accept the possibility that they were responsible for the damage (without, of course, accepting responsibility over the phone). The representative became progressively more combative, and would not acknowledge the possibility that the damage had occurred during handling at Abby's. (Therefore, no reason for me to drop the blinds off since I can easily repair the blinds myself). I disassembled the blinds and found that components on both ends were cracked. The mechanism on the side of the pull-string was cracked in several places. Having handled the blinds exclusively when they were not in Abby's hands, I am confident that this damage occurred while the blinds were at Abby's. In any case, a business should accept the possibility that they made a mistake. I will avoid Abby's in the future. read more

My blinds are beautiful after Abby's ultrasonic blind cleaning. I found blinds in the garage rafters that were left by the previous owner. At first I was annoyed because there was no way to shove the filthy things into the garbage cart and close the lid. The blinds were custom built and were more than ten years old. I called Hunter Douglas and their replacement costs were pricey. They recommended ultrasonic cleaning, which I didn't think could clean the grime out, but it was worth a try. Barry not only made these blinds look nearly new, but he repaired some clips and got them to roll perfectly. I couldn't be happier and the project saved me more than $1000. read more

I found my whole experience rather odd with this place. I called a couple places because I needed my shades repaired, and went with this place because they are closer and they were recommended by another local business. I explained the problem, and the person on the phone wanted to know the brand name of the shades. They were custom made, not a brand, and I don't have a way to contact whoever made the shades. The shades don't have a brand name written where I can see, but he kept returning to this point. He explained that it's as if I called an auto repair shop and wanted to know if they could fix my car without knowing what kind of car it is. (I think to myself that the other place I called was not worried about the brand.) I get what he is saying, and yet, these are not brand name shades. He kept asking if I could find the custom designer. If I could do that I would not be calling this place. He may not have the best people skills, but I figure I can deal with that. We agree that I would just bring in the shades and he could take a look. So I wrap the shades in some sheets to keep them clean and drive over there. The business is in a house in a residential neighborhood. It's weird because instead of entering the business, I am at the front door of a house ringing the bell. But there are signs, and it is an actual business (actually several) in the building. The guy who helps me also helps carry the shades inside the building. Very nice. He joked about my having wrapped the shades in these big sheets, which I thought was condescending. He finds the brand of the mechanism for adjusting the blinds there on the end of it. Not something you can see when they are on my wall. I explain the details of the problem again and he agrees to check it and let me know before doing any work. I am hopeful that I will finally be able to use my shades again, although he told me that there may be no solution to one of the problems. (I think to myself that the other place I called seemed to think this was doable.) After a few days I get a call and he tells me what he was able to do. But the shades will only go up part way. (I think to myself that he was supposed to call before doing any work.) He goes back to the topic of finding the original designer and asking them some details, maybe to obtain a specific part for the repair. Yes, I could probably do some research and see if that designer is still in the business, and see if they have records more than 12 years old that may help him find the necessary part. But that could be time consuming and if I found them, that's who I would use for the repair. After listening to his hemming and hawing about trying to fix it (but not seeming to be able to) I'm getting frustrated. He has invested some time and effort and of course would like to be able to finish the job and get paid for it. However, it sounds like this is just not the sort of repair job that this place can easily handle, so I decide I will try the other place I called, even though they are farther away. I drive back over there, and a friendly employee I had not met previously helps me load my shades back in my vehicle. One star for the friendly service of carrying my shades. Another star for being honest and not charging for something they couldn't do. I suppose if I had some blinds that needed cleaning, I would have been just fine. But at this point, I'm not likely to find out. read more

I thought that Abby's had great prices for cleaning and I dropped my blinds off. One week later on Saturday, we went to Abby's and they were closed when the website listed Saturday hours. We never received their vm 6/11/15 and they never received our 3 messages from 6/13/15, hence no follow up call. I followed up with a call today 6/15/15 asking why no return call and this is when we figured out the wires got crossed. No biggie, BUT when the owner Barry blames it on the customer and doesn't own it - Alert: Communications 101: use the word "I" and it defuses the situation, but Barry used "You" which doesn't defuse, it's blaming and not owning. Barry was just rude. A bit of advice, let your manager speak to the customers, he was nice and professional. read more

I called them based on several other reviews that I had read. I needed several of my Hunter Douglas duette blinds cleaned and restrung as well as a set of HD Luminettes cleaned and rehung. They did a good job on cleaning and restring in the duettes but when it came to my Luminettes we ran into problems. I needed new brackets for the blinds to be rehung. They brought back all the blinds when they had been cleaned but were going to need an extra two weeks to find the brackets they needed fo rehang my Luminettes. Two weeks passed, no phone call, no follow up. I called and followed up and talked to Barry and he said he would get back to me. No phone call back. I called again, and he was going to have his guy (Jeff) call me. Another week, no phone call. I called again the following week, and Barry said he had been out of town and would have Jeff call me back. This went on for two months with me making weekly phone calls. I finally talked to Jeff and we agreed he was going to come in on the Friday I was working from home. Friday came and went and what a surprise no Jeff. I called Barry back and he was defensive saying I had told them to come after 3 and then hung up on me. Horrible customer service. While they did a good job with the cleaning and restringing, once they got paid they just ignored finishing the job. I would never use this business again simply because of this experience. I had to pay another blinds installer to come out and install the blinds. read more

I would give a minus star if I could. I left a message on a message machine regarding a awning that needed to be repaired. No one ever return my phone call so I called back about four days later. The man who answered the phone was very rude very unprofessional he said I need to know the maker normally they don't break, I don't even know what's going on and I said well I wish somebody would've called me when I left a message and I would have gotten some information for you and he said well , I didn't so what now !!!!! I have no idea how somebody stays in business acting that unprofessional , amazing I would never recommend this Business to anyone. !!!! He sounded like an older man past retirement age. Terrible service we called n talked w a really friendly guy on the phone. We took our mini blind in to see it could be restrung. An older guy was there who talked w us amidst a couple of cell phone calls n said he would have to get back w us but he would work on it n give us a call back. 4 weeks passed sans return call. I have been calling this business three consecutive days with minimal success. The nice guy answering the phone said "oh, you mean those cheap plastic blinds? " i said perhaps yes. He said he'd leave a message for the owner. Day#2 call, the same nice person said he left our message w the other guy so he'd have to leave another message. Day #3, same responses after two calls. Day#4, Phone machine took my message which was that they can keep the cheap mini blinds n throw them in the trash. Overall, owner was rude to us start to finish. Din't bother w this mom n pop business run from a house in a residential area. It was not worth our 20 mile drive from Mountain View to San Jose. Terrible service. Let me put it this way, the owner was condescending, arrogant and totally uninterested in our business. read more

Unfortunately for me, Barry did not do the cleaning on my awning. He sent two other guys, one of which is supposed to be the new owner. The streaking on the awning looks like half a job; they said they would not use bleach, but cleaning liquid they used left many pure white spots on my redwood deck (which now looks like it has chicken pox from being bleached out). Not pretty. When I pointed out the damage, they gave me several ways for ME to repair it including staining, power washing (hey, that's why I called "professionals" right?) There is staining on a vinyl part of the awning that was not there before, and "they didn't do it". It has been a nightmare. They did not take any responsibility for the damages or poor workmanship. After I called they said they would come back out and look at my damages but didn't. The guy in charge now is a fast-talking, promise-you-the-moon kind of guy. I heard "this is going to be beautiful" at least 10 times before and during the job, yet half-a---ed is what I saw. I was sorely disappointed! The job failed and I'm stuck with damages. Before you hire them, go somewhere else, find someone else, don't get stuck the way I did. $400 down the drain plus damages to my beautiful deck that will never be the same, and permanent stains on the awning. My advice...Use a power washer on the lowest setting, then brush it with simple soap. read more
