I'm going to guess the less than 4 star reviews are for people that came/ ordered once, and had a bad experience. This is a solid pizza place. Ate here a few too many times but who hasn't eaten pizza a few too many times? I digress Good pizza and they give you a freakin ton of toppings. If you like toppings, you're gonna like this place. If you like one piece of pepperoni per slice of pizza, you're not going to like this place. Reasonable prices but the 1-star dock is for the time it takes. I understand it takes a long time to cook, but it always takes longer than the estimated time... but you can solve that by hitting up the slot machines for a bit while you wait. Well I never got my food? I'll take blame if I ordered from a different store. I ended ordering 2 of the same. I was treated horribly essentially my the staff and owner Jesse. The owner asked me to leave while waiting for my pizzas? The guy actually asked me if I was trying to get free pizza? I hope Jesse doesn't own any other franchise. Jesse didn't have a buissinines card either. My mother and I both wanted pizza or Chinese. If you know about Newburg you know theres few choices. So I went to Js. Based on numerous favorable reviews we decided to make the 30 minute drive to try this out. They were not swamped but there were quite a few take-out orders being picked up and really only a handful of people in the dining area. There was no line at the register so we ordered right at 6:10. We wanted the Abbey's Special, however we were told they were out of pepperoni!!! What??? A pizza store out of pepperoni? Why didn't the manager send someone over to Fred Meyer's to buy some pepperoni for Pete's sake? Then we asked if they would add an additional meat to make up for that. The kid said "yes but we'll have to charge you for it". ????????? Unbelievable. So we passed on that. After 30 minutes waiting we went to check on it. We were told another 5-7 minutes, it just went in the oven. Wow. So, after 40 minutes we finally received the pizza. It was stacked so high with tasteless little balls of ground beef and about 3 pounds of cheese, we couldn't even get a piece off the platter without spilling everything all over. WAY too much toppings, mostly unseasoned ground beef and just swimming in fairly bland cheese. Barely any salami that we could find. We went up to get plastic forks so we could eat some of the toppings first. So, all in all, we would not call this experience "Legendary". We'll likely not return. The kid had sort of a snotty attitude and the conveyer-belt pizza wasn't really very good... I wasn't even aware it had any sauce on it at all. Oh well. read more

This was a first visit for us. A friend shared their experience, GF pizza that was eatable! I had a GF 10" 'home town' pizza. The crust was crisp, the toppings generous and the sauce very good. I thought this was the best GF pizza! No disappointment! My husband has the lunch special- mini pizza and a salad. He was also very pleased. We will be back! I would like the mini 7" pizza but, at this time they are unavailable. The restaurant was very clean and customers spread out, no one was crowded. read more

I got a nice response from my last post, offering me to come back and have pizza on them, which is appreciated but not necessary. I just noticed it and it's been over a year. They let me know that the crust hasn't changed and it might have been just a bad day with the chef. Yesterday we had a memorial event - a long ride from Portland to the coast and back. At the end of the day we planned a gathering at Abby's in Newberg, one of Casper's favorite pizza hangouts. We ordered pizza ahead of time and as the bikes rolled into the parking lot, the pizzas came out of the oven. The team there did an amazing job, quick to fill any of our needs, all in all we had about 60 people participate in our event. Thank you to Abby's of Newberg for your excellent service! Abby's has always been the most amazing pizza and atmosphere. Their ranch dressing is stuff legends were made of. Was in town and went there after a few years of no longer being in Oregon and couldn't believe the sad changes. No more salad bar. They give your croutons for your salad to you in a pre packaged bag. The ranch dressing tastes like stuff from Safeway. And even their 'Abby's' ranch that's prepackaged (not the one that comes with the salad) is not the old iconic ranch. Pizza even tasted differently. What a shame that they messed with their recipes and did away with one thing they were for early infamous for. Such a disappointment. read more

Agree with those who are disappointed with the changes in OUR pizza place. Noisy, uncomfortable, little service. Used to bring pizza to table, now just pick up at counter. Kids felt welcome being able to watch the pizza being prepared. Food doesn't seem to be what it used to be either. Been going since it opened, now looking for somewhere else. Shakey's was mentioned, I will add how I miss them too, worth the drive to McMinnville to get. The charge for delivery also adds to the loss of the small town feel. The manager Joel blamed me and refused to replace the pizza as it "wasn't their fault". He said he would MAYBE send me a free Giant pizza giftcard in the mail. First time to an Abby's for me. It's important to understand the concept - no frills, self-serve as in limited to no table service. The customers order at the counter, get their drinks, and take a seat until their name is called. Pretty simple. My party had a half pepperoni and half Abby's Special. Being diabetic, I ordered a shrimp salad. The salad came out pretty quick and unlike the pizza, was brought to the table. It was good. Not huge, but fair for the price. I had to get up and take my salad to the salad bar to get dressing. Again, this is more or less a self-serve concept. The pizza looked delicious - a thin, light crust and thick with toppings. I did treat myself to one slice of the Abby's Special, and it was delish. My only suggestion would be to add more sauce. I was disappointed that they do not offer potatoes in any configuration. The decor is dark and spartan, set around a centrally located fire. I liked it. They offer paper plates and plastic utensils. If you're looking for an upscale, hipster pizza place, move on. If, on the other hand, your focus is on really good pizza, Abby's is your huckleberry. read more

This was a nice pizza spot. We're from out of town and heard good things about it from some college students. The pizza crust is thin, but they are NOT stingy on their toppings! Our pizza had tomatoes on it, and they gave plenty of tomatoes! We also had their ham and pineapple pizza which was good. We ordered the tomato and meat pizza (poor boy?) because we asked a customer what his favorite was and we went with that. We were not disappointed. This would be a good place to take kids. Three of us enjoyed their salad bar. It was well stocked and clean. It had a good selection. One of us had a toasted sandwich that was REALLY good. They have a cute table area that is set up around a fire pit. It's cozy and fun! I would definitely come here again and recommend it to others. read more

We have been here twice now. The pizza is alright. I wouldn't say its fantastic or awesome. The one thing I will note is that restaurant is RUN down. They use the old style plastic cups that pizza hut and god father uses. These glasses were suppose to be white but were more like a tan color from the years of use. They also do not have plates when you dine there instead you have to use paper plates. On top of this we were also freezing while we were eating there. They have a fire going with in the building which can sit around but its like bar seating so if you have more then 2 people in your party it becomes hard to interact with each other. I am not sure that I would dine in again. I may have pizza just delivered instead. read more

Ordered two medium pizzas had Uber deliver them. The pizzas were horrible they didn't have any sauce on them. Called Abbys and was told there was nothing they could do I needed to call Uber, I replied Uber didn't make the pizza Abbys did. As a Newberg resident I think Abby's Pizza is the best in town. I eat pizza about once a month, everything I have tried has been good. I have never eaten in the restaurant, I have only had pizza delivered. The drivers are timely and courteous. Not the best pizza I have ever had, but it does the job and I'm a fan. read more

Best Gluten Free pizzas. I love the Garlic Chicken with light white sauce. But before you bite into it make sure you receive the sauce you ordered. Ordering delivery? Go pick it up if you can or you do not know when it will arrive. After we felt like our delivery was taking quite a long time we called and were told the driver just left. .The person on the phone was pretty abrupt and rude when we inquired about our pizza... Another 45 minutes before we got our pizza. It was pretty floppy and barely warm. The interior needs help. It just looks dirty all the time. The chairs are sticky and I hate touching them so I can sit down. The condiments containers are usually not very clean either This is the place to go for any kid's birthday party or school game celebration. Went in a few weeks ago with my mom and husband we used to live in Klamath Falls where there are two Abbys but now we live in Vancouver Washington where there are none so this was a super big treat for us to get to go. my heart broke when I found out they didn't have spuds how does an Abby's not have spuds!? that was the whole reason me and my mom wanted to go in the first place. Took almost an hour for our pizza to get done. The quality was good like any Abbys pizza nice and crispy crust. But compared to other Abbys I've been to this was a big let down. I've never been to an Abby's That didn't have spuds and an hour is quite a long time to wait for pizza. I ordered a root beer 2 liter with my pizza online and when I got there they didn't have any root beer so I asked for a Diet Pepsi. When I got home the Pepsi was more than 2 years expired. I went to go back the next day for an exchange because I paid $3 for it and they were closed for the next several months due to renovations. Definitely above average pizza. They give you lots of toppings, that's for dang sure. The meat combo has a TON of stuff on it, but somehow it isn't at all greasy, which is impressive. So, it's been on the order of 30 years since I last visited Abby's and I don't know if it was childhood memories, or if the place has just jumped the shark but, wow. First, the good - actually their sauce is on point. Flavorful without being dominating. The cheese seems legit. The toppings were fresh, flavorful, and plentiful. Unfortunately the entire experience was destroyed by two key things. First, the online ordering process is broken. Placed an order online and was advised to be there in 20 minutes for pickup. We got there in 15 maybe, give or take, and I stood in an incredibly long, slow moving line for another 10 to 15 only to find out they hadn't even started making my pizza yet. I should have just walked away at that point but I paid for it and left to go get gas. We were back again in another 15 only to once again stand in a lengthy line for another 20. There needs to be a dedicated pickup station, not stand in line with dine in, order in to go, and phone/online orders. I don't know how they make any sense of the absolute chaos. And, by the way, some poor guy 2 slots behind - who was dining in - was talking to the guy behind me and I hear, "yeah, we've had our pizza for a while now but I'm back in line just tryin to get my breadsticks that I ordered as an appetizer" But worse, what ruined the pizza completely was a crust that can only be described as a crime against all pizza. First off I was insulted by the manager. What happened was I was going to order what they consider a mixed drink. At first the young lady at the counter says it's against the law. It's not. The manager basically came out and said it's against his policy. I said well that's better that way I can get behind that. But I can't get behind is when someone says it's against the law OLCC rules like the girl at the counter said. I mentioned to him are used to own a brewery, and in a snide remark he said that's surprising. I then said hey asshole who do you think you're talking to. And he refunded my money for a sprite. What the real policy is that you're by two drinks and do what you want at the table. I left before I got extra angry as I have PTSD. Was I right probably not. Was he right, actually no he wasn't right by insulting me he pissed me off and set me off. This place is a no for me I don't give a damn how good or not good their pizza is. If their manager automatically comes out combative then he needs to be fired. There is no excuse for that behavior. Food has been consistent, well made and quick (for pizza) whenever we have been there. Staff is friendly and always working hard. Prices are a bit high, but I cannot blame the people who work there since they don't set the prices. Large variety of pizza, drinks and there is a salad bar for those who want a healthier option instead of pizza or as a good appetizer before their pizza. Enjoyable atmosphere and family friendly. We ordered the Steakhouse Pizza and the Parmesan Garlic Bread for delivery and were very impressed. Delivery time was a bit long, but worth the wait. Pizza was to die for and even though we ordered a small, we still had leftovers! Cheese bread was yummy and came with plenty of marina. I love pizza I have been eating it for 47 years. This is the best Abby's pizza place I have been too. The topping and cheese are massive they do not skimp on toppings. The thin crust is crispy and delicious the toppings go out to the edge of the crust. Very tasty to say the least. I do not eat at Abby's in my Southern Oregon hometown because it's a week pizza and not worth the money. When I go to the Newberg Abby's it is the real deal and worth the money for sure. The Omars e is packed always so plan ahead. I showed up 4:45 and the there was a line for two hours straight.
