I was SO impressed at how friendly the receptionist was on a Monday morning at a Pediatric clinic I explained we were new and thought the odds of getting in were slim...but she was able to! I was so happy and relieved. However my son was not as he is very scared of Doctors after our last Pediatrician. We got to the office and it was so very busy but the receptionists were very friendly and fast. We were called back at our appointment time and the MA was very friendly. My son's anxiety continued to climb and we were trying all we could to calm him down that this was a new clinic a new Doctor etc. As my son is in tears, in walked Jennifer Holmgren. I cannot say enough good things about this wonderful woman. She almost instantly put my son at ease, was very calm and patient and I could see his anxiety dropping away, as was mine! Our visit went SO very well, she was very thorough, kind and gentle. Providers like these are angels amongst us and they need to be applauded for such wonderful care in a ever growing field of uncaring Providers. The specialist called me and said "we don't take your son diagnosis " . I was puzzled because from what I know my son wasn't diagnosed with anything as of yet. They said the referral was sent with "pulmonary edema" meaning water in the lungs. I called MVP kids and said "I'm sorry about that , would you like for us to fix it and resend it ?" Ummmm... what kind of question is that ?! Anyways, I decided not to go back. Recently, my kid got sick again with fever and ear aches and found out they were under a new management. I thought " maybe that's changed" I came to this office 3 times with fever . One ear infection and now double ear infection. I decided to get all the records and take him to PCH and they said they shouldn't have given me such a low dose (twice) on antibiotics. AND he decided to follow up on the earl infections , arbor doesn't care. I don't want my kids to have to see the dr so many time within a month. Save you some time and find something better. I'll drive far if it take someone to actually listen. ALSO, my sister came her when she was a pre teen . Was sick up and down and they kept saying a cold or strep or even mono.... We are not anti-vac, our adopted son just had a lot of other complications and unknowns. When researched the website and thought we'd found the right place but when we got to our appointment we were given a form to sign that we would take all vaccines or be on a catch up schedule. We explained we were considered a delayed vaccine schedule. At the end of our son's appointment the provider told us he was due for a hep B vaccine. She gave us no education on what hep b was, why we should get the vaccine, and what the side effects could be. We agreed to the vaccine, only to find out he wasn't even due for it at all and we could have saved him a poke if we would have waited till he was two months and gotten a combo vaccine. Additionally, when the nurse came in to administer the vaccine she wanted us to un-swaddle him and hold him down on the table. From what I've read best practice is to actually have the child swaddled and even breast feeding when possible. When I told the nurse I'd rather hold him and comfort him (then hold him down and traumatize him?) she argued but ultimately relented. To say I am mad is an understatement. We were given no education, our wishes weren't honored, and our son was given a vaccine he didn't need. I'm in the process of finding out how I can report this to medical board.

On June 24, his pharmacy notified us that his medication required a prior authorization from this office. Because the authorization was not completed and the medication was medically necessary, we had to pay out of pocket to ensure he did not go without treatment. Since then, we have called the office numerous times, spoken with multiple staff members, and repeatedly explained the urgency of the situation. Despite multiple follow-ups and escalations, the prior authorization was still not completed in a timely manner. We were even hung up on during some of our calls, making an already stressful situation even more frustrating. At no point did we feel that the seriousness of my father's medical condition was being taken seriously. What is most disappointing is that my father, an elderly patient with significant medical needs, has had to endure the stress and uncertainty of this situation. He is fortunate to have family members who can advocate for him, make repeated phone calls, and navigate the healthcare system on his behalf. I cannot help but think about patients who do not have that support. No elderly or medically vulnerable person should have to fight this hard to receive a medication they have already been prescribed. It is deeply concerning that clinical issues like medication prior authorizations appear to be handled through a call center that is unable or unwilling to appropriately address urgent patient needs. Patients deserve timely communication, compassion, and a process that prioritizes their health--not repeated transfers, unanswered requests, or disconnected calls. The way this office has handled this situation has been unacceptable. I am sharing our experience because I genuinely do not want another patient or family to go through what we have experienced. I sincerely hope this practice improves its prior authorization process, communication, and overall care for medically vulnerable patients.
