This place is definitely an older crowd place but it's not worth driving to if you're not in the area. I read the reviews here and was really excited about trying it, but was kinda disappointed. The service here was really lackluster and slow. Our food was ok at best the rice was definitely missing flavor. As far as the other items go our Mongolian beef was delicious and so was the candied walnut shrimp. Those two were definitely the stars of the show. If you're looking for really delicious Chinese food I'd skip this place and head over to Hunan Garden you'll have a way better experience. read more

It was our first time at this Chinese restaurant not far from home. We arrived early and were seated immediately. The interior was bright and open. There were booths as well as small and larger tables. Our servers were pleasant and explained the two menus. The cash only menu had a nice selection of dishes and came with soup, egg fried rice , egg roll and dessert. The main menu was a la carte. We were served our drinks and noodles right away. Soup and egg rolls next and our meals came out quickly. We ordered from the cash only menu..General Tsos chicken and Chicken with candied walnuts. Both meals were good. Parking was easy and prices were very fair. Although it wasn't the best Chinese food I've ever had, I enjoyed my meal which was the Chicken with candied walnuts and the portion was large enough for a take out box. We were hoping for the General Tso's to be outstanding but it was average. I would return and try a few other dishes next time. read more

The good thing here was the service. Went for lunch and it wasn't busy I went early yesterday and had the waitress for myself she was great. My first time going here after recently hearing about it. I ordered off both the lunch menu and the regular menu to try some of my favorite things. The hot and sour soup was decent on the peppery side but didn't come with green onions or chopped scallion which is how it should come. The fried pork dumplings were doughy with a thick skin...meh. The egg roll was decent. I ordered the chicken and broccoli with a clear white sauce and found it to be overcooked and salty. Didn't care for the fried rice I've had much better. Won't be returning I have a couple of other options that are better than this place. read more

Fun fact. The restaurant used to be "ok" nothing to write home about it but it changed hands in 2024 and I decided to give it another chance. I'm sooooo glad I did! Everything is super fresh. The menu isn't loaded with dim sum any more but I decided to branch out and try new things and was pleasantly surprised. I had the fish with scallion and ginger and loved it!!! I think it's my new favorite. Surprisingly light with just the right bit of ginger. The insides have been spruced up a bit too. I will happily return! read more

We came back to ABC Chinese as their food is just good and it's a nice place for a relaxing dinner. Nothing fancy about the place except for the good food and good service. Tonight I tried to Orange Chicken. Another great dish - a pile of very lightly breaded and very lightly fried all good solid white meat chicken in a delicious orange sauce - I had it lightly spiced but you can get any level of spice you like. My lady had Dragon & Phoenix which is a combination of white meat chicken & shrimp in a yummy white wine sauce with garlic - it was delicious. We continue going to ABC because the food is just good and portions are large enough that we always seem to have left overs for a nice lunch the next day. Perhaps 3.5 stars. This review based on one visit. Mid May (most snowbirds have flown North). A Saturday night, arrived 7 PM. Only three tables occupied hence a quiet venue, service prompt and friendly. I gather they are busier at 5-6 PM. Nevertheless I would still make reservations as ABC is a small restaurant. An extensive menu but we ordered from the CASH ONLY menu which is limited but included soup, egg roll, entree, rice and dessert for $16-20. Food generally good although the sweet and sour soup was very bland. The ice cream low end cheap. Worth a try as sit down Chinese Cantonese restaurants are becoming few and far between. Bottom line. Keep your expectations modest. One gets the impression that the restaurant may or may not succeed. It has been open (new owners) for 6 months. read more

I see all these five-star reviews and I gotta shake my head in wonder. These people plainly have never eaten first-class Chinese-American food. I did take out a couple of weeks ago and my take out turned into a throw out. Nice people, but they can't cook. The Hot and Soup was neither hot nor sour, closer to tasteless dish water. Inedible. Tossed. Similarly, the Moo Shu pork was completely tasteless. No seasoning detectable. The third dish was so forgettable that I don't even recall what it was, not even when I tossed in it the trash. $70 for inedible glop. I'm wondering whether the total lack of seasoning had anything to do with the needs of their geriatric clientele. Wo Hop this ain't. I'll stick with Bamboo Wok on Glades from now on. read more

It's hard to find a solid Chinese place around here, and I think I just found my new go-to. Great flavors, good portions, and definitely worth trying. Poor exceuse for a chinese restaurant. First of all, if you want one of their combo's you have to pay cash. Missing from the combos are spareribs, egg foo young, pork fried rice, and a bunch of others that are customarily on a combo menu. The "fried rice" was horrible. Ordered the sweet and sour chicken - taste of sauce and chicken were great, but there was no pineapple or peppers in the dish, just the sauce. Asked where they were, was told they don't put that in anymore!. The egg rolls were just doughy skins with cabbage. The wonton soup totally doughy - and there was no pork/chicken or greens in the soup. If you don't want to pay cash, you have to order from the Alla Cart menu which only gives you the dish and maybe white rice. Will not be going back. read more

As former New Yorkers, we've been spoiled by excellent Chinese food, and we are very picky. But ABC didn't just meet our expectations, it exceeded them. What we ordered & why it stood out: * Sizzling Prawn w. Garlic Sauce - Jumbo shrimp, white onions, and snow peas tossed in a buttery, garlicky sauce. The shrimp were plump, perfectly cooked, and the sauce was rich without being cloying. * Chicken with Black Bean Sauce - Deep, savory, and balanced. The black bean flavor was bold but never overpowering. * Egg Rolls - Crispy, flavorful, full of filling not the least bit greasy. * Wonton Soup - Delicate broth, generous chunks of wonton, comforting and well seasoned. Service & ambiance: Lucy (the owner/host) greeted us as though we were honored guests. Diane, our server, was warm, attentive, and intuitive, she checked on us just the right amount, without ever rushing the experience. The atmosphere was peaceful, with soft background music that allowed conversation without shouting. The place felt comfortable, clean, and relaxed. A note about their ratings: Don't let the 3.3 star rating deter you, they inherited that score from the previous establishment in that location. Under new ownership since November 2024, this is a whole new chapter. Conclusion: If you love Chinese food, real Chinese food, do yourself a favor: give ABC Chinese Restaurant a chance. I'm not sure of the history of this location, but a couple of people I know recommended this place, and we both have the same type of taste when it comes to food. I ordered a chicken chow mein, and my friend ordered Mongolian beef. Mine was the combination; his was à la carte. I didn't taste his, but he said the food was fresh and it was good. The prices are high compared to anything else around here. My chicken chow mein I found to be outstanding; the egg drop soup I found to be outstanding; the fried rice, which was plain fried rice, was too dry, and the egg roll was nice and piping hot and crispy. The service was a little slow, but I believe there were only two people serving the full restaurant, so it was understandable. She didn't have much of a personality, but she did attend to our needs. The thing I like about this place is that there's plenty of room for seating, as there is takeout; I just don't know about delivery. The ambience is the same as it is in typical Chinese sit-down restaurants. The big difference is this tastes like real Chinese food. They just opened up, so we'll see how they are a couple of months down the road and if they maintain this high level. Chinese is like pizza is like steak, etc.; give it a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed, but everybody has their own taste. keep in mind, they offer two different types of menus, one is the combination menu, which is a cash only and comes with rice soup and an eggroll, and of course ice cream. I saw a shopping center sign near the entrance to Checkers off of West Hillsboro which said "ABC Chinese Restaurant." It's hard to find. It's not near Checkers. It's around in the far away rear section of the shopping center. I first visited on a Tuesday but was surprised to find they're closed on Tuesdays. I returned on a different day with intent to buy a lunch special for takeout. They have two menus. Confusion ensued because of that. They have a faded menu spread out in the storefront window. I read of a shrimp fried rice lunch special on that menu. They also have a bin filled with takeout menus near the front door. I walked inside as a teenage delivery looking boy was hustling out. A lady asked what I'd like. I replied I'd like the shrimp fried rice lunch special for takeout. She became confused and followed up with a half dozen questions. Finally, I understood that they no longer offer fried rice lunch specials. The big window menu is outdated. I don't understand why they still keep it up there. I then took one of their current takeout menus. Their prices are higher than Wok n Roll near Walmart a mile down Military Trail. I ordered a current lunch special. I no longer recall what I ordered since this was last month. The restaurant is spacious and pretty inside with many tables for dining there. I sat by the door to wait for the takeout. I noticed a bunch of dead ants just inside the door near the cash register. I took a photo of that. It looked like someone sprayed but didn't sweep up the dead ants later. They should have told that delivery kid to grab a broom before he left. I'm pretty sure the food was good when I returned home and ate it. Nothing extraordinary but not bad. I do recall they did not offer a can of soda with their lunch special so I ordered the wonton soup, which was fine. The food prep was quick. I would recommend giving them a try. We had a solid lunch here today. We have been to this plaza before to the Thai restaurant nearby. We both chose one of the lunch combinations. You had your choice of soup or a spring roll. We both chose soup -- I had wonton and he had hot n sour soup. My soup was a bright yellow color, a good chicken flavor, and had bits of pork and scallions in it, plus two al dente wontons. His soup had all the "right stuff" and was good. For our main meal, I'd ordered cashew chicken. It had lots of nuts and tender chicken pieces along with vegetables. His shrimp in garlic sauce was better than my dish. It was in a slightly spicy brown sauce with vegetables (broccoli, water chestnuts, etc.). It had some nice sized shrimp in it, too. I wasn't thrilled with the fried rice that came with the meal. It did have some tiny bits of pork in it and a few bits of onions. Next time, I'd get white rice. Prices were quite reasonable. Service was good. The kitchen was fast. And yes, I'd come back again -- but probably get one of the shrimp dishes. read more

I am a creature of habit and usually get the same dish, however, here I have tried probably 8-10 different dishes and every one was delicious. Today after hearing a new grand reopening, we decided to try it out for dine in for the first time. I really loved the krab raggoon and the special, Whole Pompano with ginger, scallions, homemade soy sauce and a side of brown rice.
