My trusty laptop of 7 years was starting to die on me, and I desperately needed it to be repaired ASAP. IQ Services reached out so fast after I had put out a request on Yelp, and they even picked it up from me! Marcus was a gem and helped send over some files that I wasn't able to back up before handing him my laptop. He definitely went above and beyond. He was extremely responsive, and I got my laptop back and sheeee isss looking cutee!!! It's like I have a brand-new laptop. To be transparent with costs and services: I paid for a diagnosis ($99), a new battery ($52), and repairs/replacements for my keyboard, webcam, computer screen, and whatever else was messed up ($399). Even though it seemed like a lot, it really is not when you think about the context. --I got to keep my 7-year-old computer that I LOVE, and now it feels brand new. A new laptop with the exact same processor/ram would've killed my bank account. I also live in NYC usually, and I KNOW this would've been WAY more. --I know NOTHING about fixing computers. While I can do YouTube searches to do minor software troubleshoots, I don't even know how to open up a laptop to see what's inside. --They're professionals who have gained years of knowledge, education, and experience to be able to do this. It might seem like a couple of days of work, but it's years of time and money put into learning this craft. --I didn't have to leave my home. There was no driving to a store or finding time to pick it up. It's like DoorDash but with your computer. --They're family-owned, Black-owned, and veteran-owned. Stop giving Apple or whatever corporation your money!! Shop small and shop local. Invest in your community. One super minor thing that ALL computer repair services should do: I do wish they had loaner laptops or something available because I had to scramble to find a laptop to use in the meantime. read more

Fixed my computer's performance problem by "scrubbing" its contents, removing everything I had on the PC. Deep into this process, I was asked, "Did you need to save any files on the computer? They're all being deleted." I said, "Yes, I need some of the files. Is there any way to save some of them?" I was told, "Nope. Everything's now beyond saving." Photos, tax records, magazine articles I'd written, research, many years of labor....all gone, gone, gone forever. At the end, I was asked to sign a work order. I figured the damage was already done, and nothing would at this point retrieve what I'd lost. So I put my signature on it. Reading it later, the fine print at the end of the work order / contract says, "NO REFUNDS.....I am responsible for backing up my data prior to service." I thought I was hacked but was not, but was able to have the laptop back within 24 hours and it was all cleaned and working a little faster. The laptop is old as dirt so they did what they could. I was told with the service it would include an anti virus protection, However I was expecting the free anti virus to be downloaded before I got it back. Although he was unsuccessful at the recovery of my data I felt he did all that he could do while explaining what was going on. I have always felt that Best Buy's computer repair services are way overpriced, so I searched for a local alternative in the DC area and found Marcus. He is clearly very knowledgeable, offers reasonable prices, and he is extremely quick. My computer was so slow that it was barely functioning. I thought I had a virus, but it turned out that the hard drive was dying. I dropped off my computer at Marcus' home business at 5 pm on Sunday, and by Monday afternoon, he had replaced the hard drive, installed a new operating system, added popular programs like Skype, Adobe, iTunes, etc., and copied all of my data onto the new hard drive. I was impressed with the unbelievably fast service and with Marcus in general. He's very nice and took the time to answer all of my questions and explain everything. He has answered every call and has responded to my emails immediately. Also, I didn't feel like he nickle-and-dimed me, which is surely what would have happened at Best Buy. In addition, it feels much better to support a successful small business. So far, the computer is working great, and I would definitely send all of my friends and family to him. If you're the kind of person (like me) who generally feels more comfortable going to a storefront, you should not let that stop you. Marcus works from home, but he is extremely professional, wore a polo displaying his business' name, printed a receipt for me, and was very welcoming.
