Yes, that does sound unusual, especially from a parent's perspective. A dental office can have…read morepolicies about parents not being present during certain parts of treatment, but it's understandable that you felt uncomfortable when your 7-year-old daughter was taken back without you, particularly as a first-time patient and without a clear explanation of the policy. If you're looking to file a complaint or leave a review, here's a more organized version of what you wrote: I recently had a very concerning experience at this dental office with my 7-year-old daughter. We came in because she was experiencing significant tooth pain. As first-time patients, I expected clear communication and professionalism. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a male receptionist who was not welcoming. Shortly afterward, another male staff member called my daughter back and informed me that I was not allowed to accompany her. As the parent of a minor child, I found this extremely concerning. I have never taken my children to a dental office where I was not permitted to be present during an examination. When I questioned the policy, I was told it was office protocol. Since my daughter desperately needed care and it had taken a long time to secure this appointment, I reluctantly agreed but asked to be informed once she was in the treatment room. About 15 minutes later, I was finally allowed to join her. The dentist informed me that my daughter would need a root canal and would require nitrous oxide ("laughing gas") during the procedure. Staff then asked me how my daughter would react to laughing gas, despite the fact that she had never received it before. I felt that my concerns and questions were not adequately addressed. What made me most uncomfortable was being told that my daughter would need to undergo treatment alone with staff members and the dentist. No alternative options were discussed with me, and I did not feel included in decisions regarding my child's care. After the appointment, while scheduling follow-up treatment, the receptionist stated that I should not have been allowed into the room even after the X-rays were completed. This comment further increased my concern and left me questioning the office's policies regarding parental involvement in a minor child's treatment. Parents deserve clear communication, transparency, and the ability to advocate for their children. Unfortunately, this experience left me feeling uncomfortable, dismissed, and uneasy about my daughter's care. Due to this experience, I will not be returning to this dental office in the future. I will be seeking a second opinion regarding my daughter's treatment, as I have since learned that there may be alternative treatment options that were never discussed with me during the appointment. As a parent, I believe it is important to be fully informed of all available options before making decisions regarding my child's care. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this office. If I could give zero stars, I would. This gets your point across clearly while keeping the focus on your concerns about communication, treatment options, and your daughter's care.

Everyone is kind and always making sure that I am well taken care of. I have my wisdom teeth removed about three years ago. Getting an appointment was easy, the doctors and assistants were super kind. I love that it's the same doctors so they remember you and your teeth!!! Here and there I get a reminder to schedule my cleaning (because I tend to forget about it). Overall super happy with this place!

We've had 5 or 6 regular visits here (cleaning and exam)…read more I had a horrible dentist experience as a kid and it made me afraid of dentists my whole life. I wanted to make sure the same didn't happen to my kid. At Westchester, they're so patient, understanding, and gentle. The first 1 or 2 times they tried the electric tooth brush/polisher but my kiddo really couldn't handle it so they switched to a regular toothbrush. They assured me he'd get used to it as he came to more visits. And he has. We just had our best visit yet. Kiddo let the hygienist do everything! He got a little freaked out by the suctiontool but she let him hold it and ease into it and he was fine. The waiting room has toys and books and I've never struggled to get an appointment at a convenient time. All their rooms are clean and bright. Great views from the 7th floor windows. Parking is easy in the lot that's inside the building, but not free (you pay $2/30 mins so it's not awful). EDIT: 6 months later and we still love Westchester Pediatric!

With a kid on the spectrum-I can't tell you how important that js. I was told by a number of pediatric dentists they wouldn't treat my son unless he was sedated-and since he has enlarged tonsils-he's not medically cleared for in office sedation (so you can see our conundrum here). Thankfully we were not turned away from Dr Deepa who allowed us to help during his procedure to hold my son's arms while she was able to perform some miracles. No other dentist would help us-but she did. Otherwise he would've been in pain waiting for a surgery center spot (which costs over $5k). You'd think our son was done with dentists offices from here on out-but he is now comfortable with Dr Deepa and doesn't even need help getting into his chairs for examinations. On some level he knows she's helped him get out of his pain. I'm thankful for the staff's ability to help handle these 'out of the box' situations and is why there is only one place for us.

I absolutely loved the minimal yet age-appropriate décor, it wasn't overwhelming at all. There was such a calm, peaceful feeling in the lobby... almost like a little day spa designed just for kids! The staff was incredibly friendly, and Dr. Grant was especially warm and kind. She took the time to educate my kids on proper brushing techniques and explained why certain routines are important. I really appreciated her approach, she wasn't demanding or unrealistic. She understands that kids don't always brush perfectly and encouraged them to improve little by little, which felt supportive and empowering rather than intimidating. We left feeling informed, encouraged, and actually excited about taking better care of our teeth. Highly recommend!

He made sure I didn't have any pain and kept assuring me everything was going well, and that I was doing great. Yes, I was very anxious - very, very!!! ... but he talked to me before he did anything and made sure I was confident in what I wanted to do. I broke one of my lower rear molars. I have TMJ, so it's hard for me to even keep my mouth open. After his recommendation, I decided to pull both top and bottom. I was sooooo happy after he was done! I was so thankful and I kept smiling and thanking everyone, especially him of course He asked me to trust him, and stop asking too many questions (I truly was asking too many!). I did trust him, because even though I was probably the worst anxious and nervous patient there ever- he assured me he wouldn't let me feel any pain. He said he wouldn't use numbing gel before the local anesthesia or laughing gas like I was expecting to- but I didn't even feel the needle/shots! I am truly grateful and thankful I went to him! The reason I did go to this dentist though- is because one of my relatives said he has pain a few days prior and he went in. He said his dentist was the best and said he had a similar experience to what I just described. (His dentist is there Tuesdays and Fridays). Thank you!!! Oh yeah- almost forgot- Radiologist guy was real good! He was patient with me and made sure I was comfortable! I told him I gag and he kept asking me if I needed a break. Also- let me tell you- I walked out on two other dentists because I was too nervous! One did numb me and I went home with nothing done. The other dentist (@ Schnierow in Hawthorne), said he didn't have time for me to let my anxiety medication kick in, after his staff member told me to not take it until I spoke with the doctor - which I never did before he got the needle all up on my face! He got mad because I asked for 5 minutes. Literally, 5 minutes. He said he didn't have time and literally told me to go somewhere else. Thanks Dr. Choi- I am soooo glad I did! All the staff was great at my new Dental office! They're open late and on the weekends!

For that I had to get a release form from my doctor signed. Okay I got that. Now let me tell you why this is The Worst Dentist Office EVER. I waited two hours on a work day just for the oral surgeon (((that actually went to school for this))) to tell me he can't take my wisdom tooth out unless they put me to sleep (((INSURANCE SCAM ALERT))). Because remember the first Oral Surgeon was going to remove it with no problem. Anyway I'm pretty sure after looking at my X-ray he knew he didn't have the skills to pull my tooth out & before they made me come all the way down there he wasn't going to do it. A nice phone call instead of wasting 2 hours of my time would have sufficed. He should take surgeon off his title because it's misleading (((SIR YOU ARE A REGULAR DENTIST))). He should just be cleaning teeth & that's it because he is obviously too incompetent to be called an oral surgeon. It's just my opinion but I feel it's a scam when people (((who went to school for a something)) send you to someone else to do the job they both went to school for. I mean did this oral surgeon do more school than you did?? Were they paying more attention than you in class?? Honestly Also it's a scam in my opinion if a dentist needs to put a bone in after he pulls your teeth & then makes you pay out of pocket for it (($700-$2000))!! My mom & dad didn't need that bone & their mouth is just fine without it. Our insurance doesn't cover it because we don't need it. We are just giving the dentist our hard earned money to paying off their new yacht or second house. Be honest you could have great insurance but for some reason you still have to pay out of pocket ((SCAM)). This is just my review/opinion but go check it out for yourself.
