My friend referred me here. I'm so glad she did! I'm happy to drive across the ciry every few months, for service. They're located on Manchester and an alley. The GPS always takes me down that alley. The parking lot can be accessed from both the alley and Manchester. I rarely have to wait. If so, they have taken me back to my chair, where I have a personal TV. It always smells good and clean here. They even use warm lemon-scented cloths to clean your mouth/chin, etc. after service. It's staffed by sistahs and allies. I LOVE this! Carla Thomas is the absolute BEST dentist in America. I found her over 22 years ago, driving in my car and praying to God to lead me to a great dentist. I was suffering from PTSD from many dental experiences. After 15 years on the East Coast and returning once again I'm driving and praying because I couldn't remember exactly where her office was. I found the building and was greeted by someone who didn't know Dr Thomas but had her number, she wrote it down on a sticky, and I was grateful. I called and of course Liana answered with a SMILE on her face she gave me the address and I wrote it down on the sticky and saved it on my phone. I took the sticky back and gave it to the angel who gave it to me so that the next time someone asks for Dr Carla Thomas she can also give them the address. You will always leave The Smile Studio with a SMILE on your face. Ronnie is the ONLY person I want to clean my teeth. It feels so good it's like teeth-gasms, you know how you take a Bobby pin and dig in your ear and it feels so good?! That's Ronnie going in between your teeth with her magical Dental floss. My experience with Dr. Thomas' Smile Studio was absolutely terrible. During the 4 months of being under her care, beyond the basic exam and x-rays, she did nothing other than send me across town for a consultation with an oral surgeon and later suggest that I have a prosthodontics specialist take a look in my mouth. That's as far as I got after wasting 4 months at this dental office. I cannot comment on the level of quality of work or the type of dental care Dr. Thomas provides, because I personally never received any service or treatment at her dental office to repair my broken teeth. Perhaps my dental needs were beyond Dr. Thomas' area of experience. Who knows? The lesson I learned, now that I'm seeking a new dentist, is to look past the comfy office area with a sweet staff and, instead, make sure that the professionals who are needed for my specific dental work are all under one roof and that I won't be sent across town if I need a tooth pulled, or have to keep juggling my schedule to catch up with a prosthodontist (to discuss bridge and dentures options) who is not permanently staffed in the office and seems to float in & out at will. I've been going here for over a year and some strange occurrences have been happening. My last 3 appointments I made mysteriously were changed or not even in the system. The last appointment I made to get a teeth cleaning and they included a doctor exam that I didn't request and added that to my bill which was almost 60% more than usual. When leaving my appointment, the front desk asked me how long does it take to get my reimbursement check from my insurance company. I said "I don't know" just to give response, when it usually takes 30 days and I usually get a good amount back. Over 2 months have passed and I still have not received my reimbursement. When I called the front desk manager says that the insurance sent The Smile Studio the money by mistake and it was only $45...how??! I usually get more than double that amount back, and why would they all of a sudden send it to the office and not mail it like usual? I called the office and the person hung up in my face twice and nobody is answering the phone. I want to support black business that is why I even came here in the first place. My husband had the worst experience with this dentist office. A job to remove teeth for dentures should not take from Nivember 2019 to present. I understand Covid-19, but no excuse when one or two teeth pulled at a time but payment requested every visit. Once opened we did not receive a call. I happen to be across the street at Parks Market and saw they were open. We called and more excuses, no dentist. This has always been an issue when you make an appointment for one thing they want to review and make another appointment for what you actually came for. Another Co pay. We have moved to another dentist but because they used all benefits we have to pay out of our pocket or wait until next year. Very unprofessional. Be more transparent to your customers. I went to see Dr. Thomas and her team today for a check in just to see how my teeth are coming along. When I first arrived I was greeted by a friendly staff at the counter with no wait time. She had me fill out my patient paperwork and within 15 minutes I was called back for my 1:30 appointment. The office is very relaxing and clean! I was impressed with how clean Dr. Thomas keeps her office. Everyone in the office looked busy and like they cared about their patients. After doing X-Rays Dr. Thomas met with me and asked if I had any questions or problems going on. Other than a small concern I had Dr. Thomas quickly recognized what was going on and recommended a deep cleaning! I saw the hygienist about 10 minutes after meeting with Dr. Thomas. I ended up doing a full mouth deep cleaning! It was nice to be numbed with a topical rather than getting the shot. It actually worked and minimized some if not all the discomfort. I ended up paying around $56 for each side totaling around $115. They do accept Care Credit here, so if you are like me with no dental coverage than don't hesitate to make an appointment. There was never any up-sales, or additional services offered here which made me feel confident in what I was getting done was all that was needed at the time. This will now be my go to dentist office!! I was more than pleased with how I was treated at Dr. Thomas's office today. I highly recommend anyone to give them a visit! read more

I REALLY want to support this business! The front desk staff are friendly and professional. However, today I had a very unskilled technician working on my son for his routine orthodontist appointment. It began with our orthodontist taking close to an hour to see us after we arrived. 2-3 people continued to reassure me that we were next. He came and treated for about 5 minutes then handed us back over to the tech. The tech was not knowledgeable. She did not have clear information on equipment placed in his mouth from the week before. In fact, I'm accustomed to receiving additional pieces so we can replace them at home and it was never given to us at the previous appointment. She continued to start, then stop her work. Leave in and out of my son's mouth to go obtain routine materials that should have been on hand. Staff came to talk to her, causing her to take additional pauses in between work. The final straw for me, was watching her stare at brackets in the bag, then stare at the cabinets for prolonged periods of time and not say anything. It seemed like she was very unsure of what she should be doing and how to do it. Either that, or purposely prolonging her work-which is unprofessional. Finally, close to two hours of an appointment, I was completely frustrated with the prolonged pauses and incomplete work. We left with our appointment incomplete. I am disappointed at the way our appointment was handled and feel that customers should be treated with a level of intelligence and transparency. As soon as I said I had enough, she didn't even try to remedy the situation or take accountability for what had transpired. It seemed like other staff knew something was up and they continued to allow this poor level of workmanship continue. A more senior staff person should have noticed what was going on and helped to resolve the issue. Instead, they stared, and talked among themselves as if we, as customers weren't having this experience. As I left in frustration, the front desk said, "I will call you" . The reality is, as a patient, I wasted time and money and someone at this business should have corrected the issue before we felt we had no other choice but to leave! read more

Secondly, I had an appointment scheduled and it was cancelled due to Covid-19 and I could have rectified my account balance then. It is my pleasure to write this 5 star review for Dr Thomas and the entire team at the smile studio after careful research from consulting with top dentist in Temecula, San Diego, Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Carson, Culver City and New Image Dental in Inglewood. The other half of my dental issues were caused by general dentist not specializing in certain aspects of dentistry but tried do the work anyway to not pass up making money to cover their business expenses.
