Brought my kids here because the reviews were great. after being told my son had 9 cavities I decided to get a second opinion. I am convinced abc dentist just wants your money. Yes they are very nice staff and the place is so welcoming, but to go from hearing my son had 9 cavities and needs anesthesia to fix them- to a dentist that say he has 3 and I just want to watch is completely different. Baby teeth are meant to fall out. It'sa completely different feeling when leaving an office. ABC had nice staff but they want your money and will want to fix ever since spot they see rather than realizing kids teeth are meant to fall out. obviously if there is a problem it needs to be fixed. Braden Michaud did a fantastic job! My daughter had her two front teeth chipped off when a plastic swing hit them. Another office (Kidtastic) did a horrible job attempting to fix them so we can here. The office got us in same day- Dr Braden was wonderful with my 7 yo daughter. He explained everything to me and her and proceeded to do the fox right away- same day- and it only took about 45 minutes! We were so appreciative and he did fantastic work. We are switching offices! Today was my 2 year old's very first dentist visit. The moment we walked in, we were welcomed with smiles and kindness from the staff. The dentist and assistant were very personable and super sweet. My little one doesn't like her teeth brushed but she was so happy to talk to everyone and cooperate that she didn't mind at all getting her teeth checked, X-rays taken and even got a full on cleaning. I first discovered ABC Dentistry for Children while on a veritable quest to find the best dentist for my little girl. ABC Dentistry was the 6th dental office I took her to, while this their East Mesa location is the 7th and final one - the reward for my unrelenting determination to find EXPERTISE, KNOWLEDGE, LOVE of children, KIND staff, and dentists who prioritize the child's true needs rather than trying to sell unnecessary procedures. One of the things I learned while having her examined by the prior 5 dentists is that the 3 who were specifically pediatric dentists each had a long to-do list of serious procedures, including crowns on the back teeth, a root canal, caps on the front teeth! (My daughter was only 3 years old and I took her in for one problem that I had noticed). None of the pediatric dentists agreed on what needed to be done, but both of the regular dentists agreed with one another that she only had a few minor problems. However, the adult dentists were not able to treat her because of the sedation needs of a three year old. I became convinced that in pediatric dentistry, the best interest of the child is often secondary to revenue. Think of a crown, for example. When you or I get a crown, there is an impression taken of our original tooth and then a lot of effort to adjust the final product so that it fits just right. We may notice than our bite is off or are getting headaches, so we go back and the dentist shaves a bit off here and there to make the crown fit our bite perfectly. But a child's crown is pre-made in generic sizes. And how is a 3 year old going to pinpoint or express the nuanced change of her bite to get the perfect fit? This is an example of a procedure that should only be done if absolutely necessary. SO, then after Sesame Street one day, I saw the advertisement for ABC Dentistry and decided to go to our #6 dentist office. WOW!!!! Thanks to God! The philosophy of these dentists is 100% pro patient. My daughter didn't need all of these extra procedures. ABC Dentistry is ETHICAL. I can even use the word RIGHTEOUS. There are four dentists, all of them which we have had at one time or another. We are completely comfortable and trusting of all four of them, and our now 6 year old daughter feels the same. They are all excellent with children and you can feel that they genuinely like kids and enjoy taking care of them. Dr. Braden Michaud recently put sealants on our daughter's new molars and had to extract a front baby tooth that needed to come out sooner because of an abscess that had formed. When we came in for the procedure, he spoke to me about what to expect and let me watch from a nearby room. I wish I had had a video camera because Dr. Braden and his assistant were pure perfection. Let me explain. They reclined her in the chair and engaged her right away. She was offered different scented masks for her nitrous oxide and was given just the right amount to relax her. The sealants were first. The dentist explained what they were going to do and then demonstrated the whole thing on her finger nail. Instead of just painting the finger nail with the sealant material, she was even offered a smiley face or star design. These things take extra time, but how much we appreciate that! Dr. Braden Michaud hummed so happily while he was working, assuring the patient that all was well. She had to get a local anesthesia for the extraction. I really liked that the assistant held her hand and my daughter was to squeeze it if it hurt and then the assistant would tell the doctor. He kept asking the assistant how the patient was squeezing and the assistant was reporting. All of this probably didn't change how the local was being administered, but did give a voice to the patient, who usually in such a position cannot express herself. In a sense, it empowered her to communicate her experience, rather than lying there hopelessly vulnerable. Once she was numb, the extraction happened as quick as a blink. They put the tooth in a cute little treasure box for her to take home. When it was all over, I said to the assistant, "You really love kids, don't you?" "Oh, yes!" she exclaimed. "And I love my job." My little girl hugged the dentist and was off to pick out a toy. I expressed my admiration and gratitude to Dr. Michaud. I wish that every parent and kid had such a TRUSTWORTHY, HIGHLY SKILLED, KINDHEARTED dental team. read more

This is by far the worst dental practice I have ever delt with. From day one my family and I have had nothing but problems, with billing, the staff and service. They should do themselves a favor a get rid of Melissa, as the face of the company and the person answering the phone and handling customer issues, she is rude and unprofessional. Talking over the customer and disconnecting a phone call was only the beginning. This business will lose many more patients because of her attitude. The billing department has wrongfully and fraudulently billed my insurance for services never received. This has happened twice now. If this place doesn't lose all their patients for disrespectful staff, I will make sure they go out of business for fraudulent insurance billing and HIPPA violations. As a new resident of Mesa, I searched several pediatric dentist offices. I picked this one over all the others, the facility looked nice and kid friendly and the location was convenient. I will drive further and out of my way to a different pediatric dentist as long as I never have to step foot in this money hungry practice again! Or have to make a phone call and deal with their horrible staff and extremely disrespectful receptionist Melissa. Please do yourself a favor and DO NOT take your children here. They will attempt to fill cavities that your children may not even have, and then bill your insurance for the services you never received. read more

Needless to say after two weeks of trying to get ahold of them, I have yet to have them answer the phone or return a message. Seriously, how hard is it to answer a damn phone!!!! First I want to say a BIG thank you to Dr. Richard Michaud and all the wonderful staff from the front desk to every assistant in the office. They have wonderful customer service skills and so attentive to the children. My 5 year old (he was 4 at the time) needed 4 root canals and I was terrified. They explained the whole process to me and my son, they were understanding and answered every question that my husband and I had. I thought for sure my son would be scared of the dentist after his procedure but it was quite the opposite. His 6 month appt he was excited and ready to go and play with the iPads and get his prizes. He then had to get 3 teeth pulled because his other ones were coming in fast! We just went today and they were amazing again! I had a few billing questions from the last appointment and they took care of everything right away (no attitudes or blaming) he's feeling great and they even put his teeth in a treasure box for the tooth fairy! I can't tell you how much I enjoy taking my children to the dentist. The only reason is I know that they always have a positive outlook when they leave. For someone like myself that doesn't like to go to the dentist I feel that taking them here my children won't have that same experience as I did. The dentist here are beyond friendly. They have their own songs they sing to make the children feel as comfortable as possible. They truly work together as a team to make sure the kids feel like they have known the dentist for years. My 7 year old daughter had a dental emergency on the first day of school. Her back molar had a deep, painful cavity, & part of the enamel had chipped off. I called ABC Dentistry, & they were able to get her in that morning. She was so nervous because she thought it would be a painful process, but Dr. Braden and his assistant had many wonderful ways of keeping her mind off the pain. Dr. Braden sang & hummed while doing the filling, and the assistant talked and made my daughter smile. The numbing shot was "little bubbles", the drill was "tickling" her teeth, & the metal clamp was "giving her tooth a hug." She got to pick an awesome treasure afterward from their treasure box. Great dentist office! My 2 and 3 year old kids actually like going to the dentist! They have things to do in the waiting room and back in the treatment areas to keep them busy while each child gets their cleaning. Never have to wait- always on time. Please do not take your children to this location! I made the mistake of switching to ABC Dentistry on Signal Butte recently and will not be back. My children went in for a normal cleaning and when we got to the car, were in tears! The hygentist who worked on them was rough when flossing, jamming the floss in and out, was harsh with the pick they use to scrape the teeth and had to ask the dentist how to use the floride and two kids ended up with it all over thier face when they came out. While I understand that some level of discomfort is expected, one child's mouth hurt so bad that she couldnt eat anything for dinner but soup 4 hours later! This hygentist was not caring and certianly did not seem the have the disposition for a pediatric dentist office. I called the office and I was finally able to talk to the dentist the following day. I was direct and repeated the experience my children described and let him know this was not acceptable. He apologized and said he would address the concerns. Not 2 weeks later, I recieved a letter from J. Braden Michuad DDS stating that because the dentist-patient relationship had deteriorated, he was discontinuing care for my children and cancelled my appointments. ARE YOU JOKING? Instead of caring about the negative experience my children had and addressing it so that no other family went through the same thing, he choose to AVOID the conflict like a coward. This shows that he does not care how his staff treat the children. If you have to go to this location, go back with your children and watch the dentist and staff like a hawk so this doesnt happen to your children read more

Dr. Braden and the support staff were AMAZING. My daughter, L, is 7 and is a bit of a scaredy-cat when it comes to any sort of medical/dental procedure, and the team at ABC Dentistry handled it with ease! L had a negative experience with one filling prior to me searching for a new dentist for her. We had a 2nd opinion consultation last week, and confirmed she needed 4 fillings and a crown. Today we did the 2 fillings and crown on the right side, and she'll be going back next week for the other 2 fillings on her left side. The reception staff are very polite and know their stuff. I didn't have to make any calls whatsoever to the insurance companies as they handled all of that paperwork. The staff proactively let me know that since L does have a stepfather (my husband), that they wouldn't be able to share her information with him unless I signed a release (a lot of times you find this out later if you didn't already know). The assistant who did L's x-rays last week (I can't remember her name!) was absolutely lovely. They did bite wings and they aren't really ever comfortable, but she gave L great instructions and kept her distracted that they got thru them without any issue. At today's appointment, the assistant who did the numbing in L (again, I don't remember her name) did an awesome job of giving just enough information that L would kind of know what was coming, but not enough to scare her (we're going to blow up a big frozen bubble in your mouth to make your teeth feel silly, I'm going to jiggle your jaw to sleep, etc). They have "special" terminology for everything to keep the kids from getting too scared. Michelle was the assistant who helped Dr. Braden directly today, and she was also fantastic. She walked L thru saying "uh huh" and "nuh uh" so they could communicate while they had instruments in her mouth, as well as how to raise her hand to let them know if she was feeling any pinching pain without accidentally hitting someone in the face. Overall, we've had an amazing experience and L has a much better opinion of dentists. :) read more

When I moved to Arizona I wanted to find a dental office that my kids would be comfortable at. Upon arriving 10 minutes early I filled out paperwork that I didn't have printed from online. I was seated and waited for approximately 20 to 30 minutes. I figured maybe because we were new with 3 kids. During our wait my children played on the iPads attached to the wall, my little one played with the age appropriate wooden toy on the wall, and I watch TV. After the wait I was allow to go to the back with my three children. I watched two get their teeth cleaned and I helped the dentist with my son. This guy was amazing!!! He was very enthusiastic and cheerful with my son. My son didn't cry or scream and I think it has a lot to do with the gentle attentive care he received with the pediatric dentist. I may have been a little irritated from waiting, but I seriously left with a smile on my face because of him. I will definitely return to this office in the future. read more
