Prices have gone up recently and front desk always seems overwhelmed. BUT my fur babies are always taken care of and they love going to ABC Pet Resort. The folks who care for the dogs always welcome us and seem genuinely happy to see my dogs. My mom, sister and myself have been using this resort since we've moved to Houston. Today was the last day we will ever be taking our dogs here. The people who actually take care of the dogs are friendly and care for your pets but the front desk and management are awful. I called to make a reservation and asked for both dogs to have a bath by 10am Monday they said no problem and they'll make a note. Called Monday morning at 8am to follow up and reiterate I would be there by 10am to pick up. Then I called 10 mins away from picking the dogs up to let them know I was on the way. Not ONCE did anyone mention my dogs weren't going to be ready with a bath as requested. The front desk said there were a lot of dogs and apparently everyone else wanted their dogs bathed early too. They just kept asking me if I wanted to take the bath of my total or if I wanted to come back several hours later. The problem is not the bath. It's the lack of communication. Of the 3 times I called, not one person gave me a heads up to let me know they would not be ready. Then the manager Jennifer proceeds to stand there smiling at me when I was clearly upset trying to use the sorry excuse of saying "we are humans". Jennifer proceeded to clap her hands at me as she's smiling as if I were an animal to tell me her sorry excuse instead simply just apologizing. She was very condescending and hopefully the actual owner sees this review. She said the owner would call but still haven't heard anything. On top of all this, my dog who has severe allergies was not given her medication properly. I clearly wrote on a notepad of her medication instructions. I was given a call to clarify which I did and asked if she understood and she said yes. Then come to find out, they obviously didn't understand or can't do simple math because she came back with medication that was supposed to be gone. read more

I think the picture from the Halloween party says it all. I have been a patron for over 15 years. I TRUST them! They took care of my former beloved diabetic Bichon. They took these babies in when my house flooded during Harvey. I would not take my divos anywhere else. I love being able to travel without worrying about my furry children. Book early over the holidays! They will ask for vaccination records, yet shouldn't you worry if they do not ? My dogs love going. They deserve an award for brushing my 140 lb baby's teeth! I wanted to post an update after becoming a repeat customer over the course of the past year. The boarding and grooming services at ABC Pet Resort continue to impress me. Their staff is excellent and kind, and the attention they give my (now two) Dalmatians is meticulous, loving, and informed. They give constant updates throughout the time I'm gone and are pretty much willing to accommodate any request for any type of dog. I'm so happy to know I'm leaving my dogs with staff who care about them and their particular needs while I'm gone, as well as at a place with plenty of room for them to run around. Welcoming staff the first time I came in, the second time I went to pick them up there was two employees just having a conversation (older lady in front) and she took awhile to say hello and greet. They took awhile to get my dog Jax but understandable they could've been busy. Overall I checked my dog all over his body and he was in good shape like how I dropped him off and his mood was the same so that makes me feel better. I asked if I could get a picture of them during their stay to just see them and they started naming how much certain pictures cost which I found strange because at VCA when I board them they send me pictures of them on their walk or in the run but whatever me and my brother both got the picture where they get extra play time as well and I got told they can email it to me and they never did. When I told the lady in the front she said they don't email any pictures which is really unprofessional for employees to be saying different things, she was kind enough to show me the picture through the computer. I added extra play time for Jax and my brother added it for chomper as well, overall thankful for them to watch over our babies but this place could easily be a 5 star if they just fix minor mistakes. read more

My dog passed while she was boarding at ABC Pet Resort & Spa last month. I was told about her death by their general manager that she passed during a thunderstorm.My dog has always been terrified of thunderstorms so it could have happened. But nobody knows what really happened because she was not seen again untill she passed. The thunderstorm was between 2:35PM and 3:30PM. I was told my dog was found dead between 4PM and 5PM. I hate the fact that I was not there for her when she passed. I hate to think she was terrified and died by herself in a loud place surrounded by unfamiliar people and dogs. I wish they could have been more attentive during the storm, because many dogs hate thunderstorms like my dog. We had been using this facility since 2013. The staff are nice and they like dogs. But I don't know about the management team. Since my dog passed, I have never received any phone call or an explanation from the owner. This is someone's family that died at their business. The owner should have took some kind of responsibility. This place has really disappointed me and I am sorry we ended up like this. read more

Ok so this review is for the pet resort AND it's grooming services. I wanted to give four stars but my dissatisfaction for the grooming holds too much weight. Pet Resort: The staff is super kind and customer service is great. Hearing Rhonda's voice on the phone an instantly make you happy. If you request a reservation online, they get back to you quickly. I truly can't complain. One time my dog was throwing up after leaving him at the resort for about a week. I was beyond concerned but the veterinarian told me that it's normal for dogs to stress when away from home and that it was normal. I couldn't blame the resort for that so decided I'd take him back. Grooming: I will NEVER get him groomed here again. The first time I got him groomed, he looked pretty much the exact same as when I left him there within two days. His butt (yes I pay attention to that area) was so messy looking and the hair looked like it hadn't been addressed during grooming. Also his nails seemed like they hadn't been clipped and were pretty long. I believe in second chances. I took my dog to be groomed during his stay and emailed a photo of what I wanted. I'm guessing because of a recent food change, my fur baby's coat has changed and we experienced a bit of matting. I assume that because of this, the groomer was unable to do the cut I asked for. No call was made to me, instead they shaved him completely so now he's hella skinny. He's still handsome though, don't get it twisted! It would've been nice to know what was going on. Also, his new short hair cut was accompanied by tons of white flakes and there was a small brown/black bug on the seat in the car when we got out. This has NEVER been an issue for us. I felt the need to clean him after he was groomed, that's not normal. Also, he hopped on my lap and scratched the crap outta my legs! Once again, his nails were long and sharp. If filing them is an added feature to grooming at ABC, they should specify that. I've attached a photo for you to see the grooming he received. The bottom line is simple. Take your pet to get groomed at PetSmart or PetCo. It'll cost a bit more but you get what you pay for. If you live near the area and are looking for a safe place for your pet then you may wanna check them out. read more

They are very friendly and take good care of my Shih-Tsu here. She's old, can barely see, doesn't hear too well and ................ But, China really likes this place. Sometimes it's tough to find a good groomer when you move. But, there was no shaking or nervousness at all from the first time we went in. That's the best sign! This is a wonderful place! I have not boarded my dog since I adopted her but she did absolutely wonderful here. The staff was very friendly and easy to communicate with and the facility was clean and updated. I ended up booking my dog for a Zen Den room, which I viewed prior to boarding her and was very impressed with. I can tell that the staff here really loves animals and wants every boarded pet to do well. Another plus is that they had availability one day prior to the date I wanted to board and they had availability when I called last minute to schedule an extra night. I will definitely be returning here and would recommend it to any dog owner! She was a very happy girl after staying with ABC. read more

Our vet recommended this place. We went Saturday for the first time and we will be back. Everyone was very attentive, very patient and very knowledgeable. We have a miniature schnauzer and her hair had grown way too long. The groomer was very polite. When she came to ask us what we wanted we basically told her to make her look like a schnauzer again. She delivered that and much more. When we picked her up she seemed happy and excited about spending time over there. Thought the picture doesn't do justice they did a wonderful job. BUT no one bothered to explain to me that there was an additional $30 charge for a Sunday pick up... so what I thought would be a $38 overnight board turned out to be $68... totally misleading. First visit was a little disappointing. I booked a VIP room for our dog but was never shown the facilities so am not certain that is where my dog stayed. The tech was great with our dog. Willow, and Willow had a genuine affection for her as well . The issue I have is the cleanliness. Willow became terribly ill afterwards. We are hoping she makes it through this but the question will always remain, "Did she contract a virus or bacteria at the facility?" I guess we'll never know. read more

This place is awesome! I had to bring my cat for day boarding for 8-10 hours while they did construction at my place. Unfortunately my cat has extremely bad anxiety and does not like other people very much (to say the least..). The way they handle my pet was amazing. I highly recommend ABC. My dad needed a long-term placement for his dog due to his hospitalization and the death of his wife. She stayed with them about a month. They found she had an ear infection while doing her intake and they were willing to administer her medications after I took her to a vet that day. Beyond that, the dog was well cared for and was even given an upgraded room at no charge when she started exhibiting some anxiety issues. The staff even put a Thunder Shirt on her to help calm her. They communicate well with you and encourage you to call and check on your pet as often as you wish. Two staff members even walked out to the car with me to say goodbye to her when I returned her home to my dad. read more

The staff here is so caring and extremely professional. The team treats my fur baby like he is their own. Every single member of the staff I have encountered knows me and my dog, by name.
