I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Texas Doghouse, and I will not be returning. While my dog does not attend daycare or boarding there (thankfully in hand sight), I would take her to get groomed since they do a good job. However, this establishment has cancelled my appointments the morning of multiple times, which already showed a lack of reliability and respect for clients' time. I gave them several other chances since I know things come up, and unfortunately, the final visit was worse. My 9-lb dog was there for over three hours for only a bath and dry. Afterward, I was told she had been placed in a crate without my consent, despite the fact that she is not crate-tolerant. As a pet owner, I expect my instructions and my dog's well-being to be taken seriously -- not overridden for convenience. I have taken my dog there for over a year and every single time I mention she is not to go in a crate. This time however, there was nobody in the front desk to check in and the groomer took her back. To make matters worse, I was given inconsistent explanations by staff for the delay: one cited the holidays, while another mentioned a pet emergency. While emergencies can happen, the lack of transparency, communication, and alignment among staff is unacceptable. If something occurs, clients should be informed -- not left guessing after hours of unnecessary confinement for their pet. This is not a one-time issue but a pattern of poor scheduling, poor communication, and disregard for client trust. Leaving your dog in someone else's care requires confidence and honesty, and Texas Doghouse failed on both. I would strongly caution other pet owners, especially those with small or anxious dogs, to consider whether this is the right environment for their pet. If this happened to me for just a grooming, I can't imagine what goes on at boarding/daycare. read more

ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!! I've been taking my dogs here for a long time now and each time it has been awesome! From the great customer service from the front desk ladies all the way to the employees in the back that are so sweet to the pups! Every photo I get from their daycare they always look so happy! I love that they don't come back dirty or smelly either!! And I love how when my dogs come in all excited and crazy they never have a problem with that and they are so nice to them!! They are so sweet to my babies. During my tour I saw they had bowls of water out and they can go in and out as they need and I love that since my Harlow is an AC princess lol. I appreciate everything they do to take care of my babies and strive to be so nice to everyone. I think the only thing I'd like to see as an add on option is a report card!!!! David & Heather Murphy started this business and provided seamless care and service of our fur babies. Unfortunately, they sold the business to an out of town owner that either fired all the talented/trained workers or lowered their salary and forced them to quit. Now, a bunch of mostly clueless kids run the place. They no longer post photos to social media during the day, so that we can see how/what our dogs are doing. On our last trip, I signed up for photopass to get photos of my dog each day since they never post anything anymore. Never got a pic until I complained to the owner. Got one bad pic, then no more for the rest of the week. The girl at the desk said, "well we didn't charge you for it." If that's what I cared about, I wouldn't bring my dog to daycare. We are probably paying the most of any customer (we have no kids, only a dog, so he is very spoiled and goes to dogcamp every day while we work). In addition, he boards there when we are out of town. We used to feel comfortable with this arrangement but we are now considering dogtopia instead. The best I can say is that he was alive after our recent vacation. We were talking with another dog owner when we were picking up our dog and he said "this place is not the same..." We agreed. read more

I have boarded my dogs at Texas Doghouse for years but the last year it seems it is not very good. I know ownership changed and maybe the staff changed as well because the last three times I have picked up my dog she stinks horribly. She is an older dog and I request an exit bath each boarding. Last boarding they clearly forgot to bath her and while I was waiting in the lobby to pick her up they were frantically trying to rinse her off but I could not wait any longer and had to take her wet. She was still stinky like they just sprayed her with water and put a bandana around her neck to appear groomed. The visit before they claimed they bathed her but she looked pretty rough in the face. This last visit, I boarded her for three days but decided not to have an exit bath this time because I just had her groomed when I dropped her off at my regular groomer and the Texas Doghouse groomer has been pretty bad. She clearly stepped in poop or pee or something and they handed her to me with gross crunchy feet and legs and smelling like a sewer. I think it is time to try a new place. Too bad because Texas Doghouse used to be the best but like other receivers since ownership change appears to no longer be the case. read more

To say we LOVE Texas Doghouse is an understatement! Our rescue boxer, Jenna, loves to go to day camp and comes home exhausted + fulfilled. As an "only child", her experience at camp has been so valuable and she loves being part of a group. Jenna has also been an overnight camper and had a wonderful time. We love that Texas Doghouse posts pictures of our fur babies throughout the day so we can see who they are up to and who they play with. Grooming review only. I have mixed emotions. Everyone from the initial phone call to pickup was very friendly and accommodating. I don't really like having to leave a message for them to get back to me, but it's not the end of the world. But my main issue is my pups haircut. I'm fairly certain it's a schnauzer cut, she's a Brussels Griffon. She looks cute enough, but it's definitely not the correct cut. Even my husband laughed when he saw her before I had said the first word. So I will probably go back just a little disappointed. I'm also looking forward to actually seeing the facilities once they are finished. read more

This is the best doggy daycare we have ever been to! This is a family owned facility and the staff all seem to genuinely care about the dogs. They are very responsive with the phones and facility is clean. They are also great about uploading tons of pics and videos of the dogs playing throughout the day, and you can tell every dog there is playing and having fun. We've used 4 other daycares in the past and my dog used to have some separation anxiety/ would shake when we would arrive. Not the case here. He loves it and cannot get in the door fast enough. He comes home so tired and can sleep for days after just 1 day of daycare here. Thanks for taking such great care of Rudi!! read more

I needed a place where I could drop my dog off for this weekend. We are going out of town. So I follow the steps and sign up on-line for my dog to be "interviewed" by these so called "true dog lovers". I signed up for the interview on 3/26/2013, a lady calls me back the same day. This is what she says " Sir, it was great to see that you have an interest in signing up your dog for the interview. Unfortunately, we do not accept Pitbulls." I did not need to hear another word from these "true dog lovers." I thanked her and hung up the phone. Listen here folks at Texas Doghouse or anyone else that practices the same discriminatory acts. I can raise a German Shepherd, Labrador or any other breed to be a killer. It does not matter what breed the dog is, you guys don't seem to understand that how you raise them matters. Pitbulls only get that reputation because they are pretty strong dogs and have been used by the wrong people to do wrong things. Goli, my 6 year old American Pitbull Terrier is the sweetest dog. Texas Doghouse is conveniently located off 2978; adjacent to The Woodlands. The application process is a bit lengthy, but I appreciate how extensively they screen their dogs. They do a great job of evaluating dogs before they are taken in, and I was really impressed with how they gradually bring a new dog into their yard in a controlled way for their first visit. Everyone on staff I have met is very friendly and they let me know if anything unusual took place when I pick her up, and I know she's in a safe, happy, clean, balanced environment where she can play with other dogs. It's as safe of an environment as one can possibly expect. Instead of an off-leash dog park where you have to deal with irresponsible owners who break park rules and create potentially dangerous situations, your dog is in a playground overseen by a professional, knowledgeable staff. It's a large space with an always-open door at the back that opens to a yard with wading pools and toys. So, your dog can go inside / outside at will. I called for an up-date one time and the pack leader asked me to hold so she could find out what my pup was up to at the moment. Only a minute later she told me my dog was "chillin outside". I LOVE that. It is so much better for her to build her confidence and socialize with other dogs instead of being cooped up (bored and alone) at home. The owners are VERY hands-on and VERY responsible, loving animal lovers. They cap the amount of dogs allowed to play each day (for safety) so make sure you book online or call Texas Doghouse directly to schedule your appointment. I suggest purchasing the passes to save money. If you have any questions, give them a call. Bottom line: The owners and employees care and the dogs can be dogs. What more do you want? My little fella missed his socialization timeframe due to Covid-19 so we are now trying to get him acclimated to being around little ones that look like him, because I swear he thinks he is human..lol...This place was our last stop for the day after looking hopelessly at other facilities. Buddy loves the staff and is always crazy to see his friends for a day of play. We started going to Texas Doghouse because they were close by, but we keep going (even after they moved farther away from us) because we know our dog is well-taken-care of. Two years ago, he got sick over spring break -- and we were out of the country. They went above and beyond keeping us posted on how he was feeling, sending pictures and updates, and also keeping our emergency contact updated.
