Very disappointed. I trusted them to groom my fur baby, and paid full price in November and again in March, including generous tips. Unfortunately, the grooming was uneven and looked very unprofessional. When I reached out to the owner about my concerns, she only told me the location she would be at but never responded when I asked what time. I followed up again and even sent another message today, and still received no response. When you trust someone with your fur baby and pay for professional service, you expect care, quality, and communication -- unfortunately, that was not my experience. read more

And a few years after that, they completely desocialized my dads german shepherd without his knowledge. They left her in isolation without consent every day she was there. DON'T TAKE YOUR PETS HERE!!! This place treated their customers horribly during Hurricane Harvey. During a time when you need people to be at their best, they were at their worst. Telling customers that if they didn't pick their pets up that they would be boarded alone for DAYS? When people leave their pets at a kennel when going on vacation, they are trusting them to do the right thing and treat the pets as if they are their own. Threatening to leave them alone is unacceptable. Any pets that couldn't be picked up due to customers being out of town should have been taken home with the staff. This place is NOT set-up to handle disasters. Roxanna - I tried to respond to you on FB but the account has been locked for posts. Your summary on FB is inaccurate. Below is a conversation with your employee Leslie and a customer where there was no offer to take the pets to your employees' homes. You can clearly see that the customer thought their pets were going to be left alone for days (in a flood zone) if they didn't find someone to come pick them up. I hope you understand that poor communication skills are just as detrimental as bad intentions. You all were trying to do the right thing but did it poorly. Awesome pet care facility!!! I was nervous to leave my dogs in boarding for the first time but this place was so great to them. They provided daily updates on their facebook pages with pictures and videos so I could check on how they were doing while I was away. I could tell they really got to my dogs personalities and habits. Our puppy LOVED daycare and had an absolute blast. I plan on taking him back again for more socialization. My older dogs opted for their "teachers pet" program to stay in the main office since they weren't interested in playtime but still wanted hands on attention. We will definitely be back. read more

Absolutely awful experience. If you care about your dogs well being DO NOT TAKE THEM HERE! Unprofessional and extremely rude. We showed the groomer a photo of our dog and how we wanted him trimmed (1st photo) and this is what they did to him (2nd & 3rd photo) they even cut off his eyelashes and all of his whiskers. He has been traumatized by the whole event. They made us pay before bringing out our dog. We were appalled by what they did to him and they refused to refund our money. They also cut his nails way too short and they were bleeding. The manager is extremely rude and used a BS excuse and said that dogs in the wild have eye lashes but domesticated dogs don't. She was a monster! I do not recommend taking your dog there. What they do is dangerous and absurd. Also please notice how they have the glass covered so you can't see what they are doing to the poor pups behind closed doors. I can't imagine what they did to my dog to actually force him to stand still WHILE THEY CUT OFF HIS EYELASHES! Please for the sake of your animals do not take your dogs here. They injured our dog! I've never in my life been treating so poorly. The Staff at Preppy Pet take pride in knowing that we ALWAYS put our furry guest's needs first. We do everything in our power to provide a safe, comfortable place for them to stay and play. I am proud to work at this boarding facility. We bust our butts to make sure that every dog and cat gets the personal attention they need, because we love them as if they were our own. If you've gotten a tour, you've seen the amount of rescue dogs we care for, and we as a team have all sacrificed our personal free time to try and get them adopted into loving homes. During hurricane Harvey, we were worried it would flood in the surrounding area, because of the neighboring creek. We were right. During the storm, there was no way anyone was able to get to the kennel through all the rain. The streets were rivers, the neighborhood across the street was under water, and we would have had to go by boat. Roxanna, the Manager, made a tough call, and that was to evacuate the kennel while we still could. THANK GOD she made that call, because otherwise any dogs boarding during all that weather would have been scared to death, and there was no way anyone would have been able to get to them. The only other option was to leave a staff member there to care for the dogs overnight. I almost offered to stay myself. But that person (or I) would have been stuck there surrounded by water for 4 days, with no way to let the dogs out to pee, and no food or anything. What if the water had gone high enough that they needed to evacuate the dogs? Could one person, or even a few overnight staff members, do all that by themselves??? No. Roxanna decided to evacuate EARLY and SAFELY for the sake of ALL of the dogs and cats. There are some who are saying we don't care about our animals unconditionally. I can tell you personally that I would have died to save your animals from flooding, but I am grateful that it did not have to come to that. I love coming to work every day, and now that all the roads are dry we will be open again as usual, in time for Labor Day weekend. You can continue to leave your babies in our care and know that we will love and care for your animals, no matter what it takes! read more

My dog was a first time client so I was interested in grooming as well as my other dog they quoted me 50% off for both of the grooming for the dogs. Then while on vacation I got this phone call and said that they put the dogs in the wrong kennel and I needed to move them the girl in training mistake. No worries then when I get there this morning to pick up the dogs they said it was a misunderstanding that I had to pay full price for the dogs!!!!!!! Another misunderstanding I can't believe this place they are definitely crooks everything was more than what I was quoted I definitely do not advise taking your dogs here if you want to get them ground for a discount because they do not honor what they say.!!!! Sadly writing this because I assumed I finally found a doggy boarding for my pet, because they are really nice. But today when I picked up my pet up I reminded them that over a month ago when my friend drop him off he gave them my pets retractable leash then they stated they couldn't find it so I asked to be accommodated due to inconvenience. They denied due to policy. Whatever Ok! Secondly, I walked with the manager on a tour to see how my pet was living since I never saw the cages. (Always ask for tour) I was paying 5 days for Tall Mini and grooming. When I went back there, they had my dog in a Kennel. FUCKING KENNEL. Because he's not neutered, he couldn't be In the taller, more roomy cages. Also, had me assume he was for 3 whole visits and been paying for it when he's in something much smaller. Never going back! The staff knows him by name and he always comes home pooped after playing with his friends all day! They let my neighbors dog lay in his own urine because he was depressed to be there and my neighbor had $1000 vet bill .. he had infection in his back leg .. they had to give the dog stitches once they cleaned out the wound.. Today I took my fur baby there , it was my first time going. I actually followed a groomer here that was from another place! If your looking for a gentle hand, great with all types, Liz is your girl . I am VERY VERY VERY PICKY! Liz has taken care my Fancy a couple of times and I've been happy each time. The staff is friendly, the young lady at the front desk was super pleasant. I didn't have Fancys records and she was willing to call my vet to get them faxed so I didn't have to. When I called to make this appt, they were very quick to return my call. Not to mention they are close to my home! My husband and i travel 2-3 times a year. We have 3 dogs. So we decided to board 2 dogs at this location. Ivy is a super energetic but shy puppy! She is less than a year old! Sammy is about 4&1/2 yrs. She is a rescue(she was a chained/abused dog).When we dropped both off everything was ok. On the second day of our trip the owner called us. We were told Sammy was being aggressive and nipping/biting at the employees. We were also told that Ivy was scared around Sammy.We were visiting family in Alaska as we have no family down here. There was some miscommunication with some employees but that was taken care of. Due to Sammy's behavior we had to transfer her to another boarding facility which she is more accustomed to and where she thrives and has no issues.Preppy Pet kept Ivy and took care of her and she was more relaxed and my husband said she looked bigger than last time we saw her! She is! Preppy Pet even took Sammy to the other boarding facility when they didn't have to. We want to thank you for helping us out and talking to us about our fur babies! I won't go back. We've used Preppy Pet for some time now for grooming and daycare and occasionally for boarding, though I don't love them for boarding. But that's not why I'm writing this review. Today I took my, high-strung, dog with anxiety for grooming (we love the groomer). When I walked into the lobby to pick him up, I heard what I thought was my dog in the kennel just on the other side of the lobby door, but when I started speaking, I knew it was my dog. He went a little nuts. He has a very distinct bark and was using it to its fullest extent. I hurriedly paid, and the two girls in the office and I joked about how my dog heard me, so it was clearly my dog. Just as I finished signing the receipt, the office worker opened the door to the office into where the kennels are, and we heard one of the workers slap the kennel my dog was in and scream at him to shut up. But even if she hadn't opened the door, we would've been able to hear it in the lobby. It was that loud. The office worker looked at me as soon as it happened and even though she wasn't the one who did it, she had a terribly guilty face and immediately apologized. I was livid. I asked to speak to the manager, and when I informed her what happened her first response was, "How do you know it was your dog?" Really? That was the first thing she said to me. "I asked if they make a practice of treating all dogs that way?" To which she informed me that they have lots of barking dogs. She NEVER addressed the issue of someone being borderline abusive to my dog. We won't go back. If this is how they treat dogs when they know an owner can walk in at any time, then how are they treating them when none of us are around? read more

My dog jumped the fence in the back where they let the dogs out and they couldnt handle him so i had to go and pick him up 3 days early and then they had the nerve to make me pay for the day that i had to pick him up. I brought my dog in for grooming on the recommendation of the vet. I specifically asked for him not to be shaved. He has a thick coat and gets very cold when shaved. We only do it in the winter. The groomer met me before and I showed her what I wanted. She indicated he was matted in the back area and she might need to go shorter than I wanted. OK, I get that, but he is shaved VERY close and not very well either. She shaved the top 1/4 of his tail! Why was THAT necessary? It was NOT matted! He looks like a lion!! MANY uneven spots on his belly and legs which were NOT matted either. He looks AWFUL! She also indicated he "had a lot of energy" which suggested she had problems with him. He is a gentle dog, but does not like being shaved so he must have put up a bit of a fight. I have taken him to groomers in the past who are easily able to just trim him, even if the "butt" area gets matted, but they obviously took the time to do it right. This woman did not. She took the easy way out, therefore I will have to find another groomer who is not as lazy. I'm kicking myself I tipped her over 20%, she certainly did not earn it! Also, I was watching the day care dogs while I waited and there was one dog clearly being bullied (mounted and humped) by another dog and no one around for the 15 minutes I was there to stop it! I would not have been happy if that had been MY dog! To be fair, I did not say anything while I was there, but I didn't look that closely at him until I got home. I think she could tell I was not happy, but what good would it have done to tell her? The damage had already been done and I was NOT bringing him back. read more

If you bring your dogs here you will get lied to! Employees are trained the say that the dogs get walked 3-5 times a day, but they get three walks max! On weekends they only get walked twice. Paying for 4 or 8 hours of daycare? Your dog might get half of that, daycare starts at 11 and the dogs go up around 2!! Have a specific way you want your pet fed? They feed the animals twice a day no matter what you tell them. Pets don't get fed correctly all the time and the employees are told to throw away the extra. Bringing medication? If the employees forget to do it, it gets thrown away and you will never know about it. If you have had any problems with this preppy pet, please email the owner and tell her. She needs to know everything and she needs to replace the horrible manager! read more

Earlier this year, my German Shepherd S puppy was kenneled @ this location for several weeks of training and I was given back an absolutely untrained dog. He had been enrolled in day care for several months, and the staff was not always pleasant to him, and repeatedly suggested he be trained by their trainer. We made an apt to meet with the trainer, and she convinced us she was a qualified trainer and could train a GDS (shame on us for not verifying the credentials). At this time he was 10 months old, we discussed our biggest issues, which were he jumped on everyone, would run away, and not come when called, and needed improvement on walking with leash. We had the basic sit and stay and a good start on walking with a leash. She advised that a it would take 6 weeks and quoted a price of $1,600, we thought that was extremely high, but he was familiar with the establishment and seemed happy so we agreed to have him trained @ the location for $1,200. I was allowed to see him @ 3 weeks, and he was as wild and untamed as ever, jumped on me repeatedly and scratched my face, and seemed distant, so I had to leave the play area. That was when the excuses started, Said he was more difficult lately, she had numerous responsibilities there and only 15 min a day to work with him, and he was not trained @ all the week of Spring Break because they were so crowded. The evening of the "hand off, she came with her little girl, and as soon as they came thru the gate he jumped all over them, especially her little one, he then took off running thru the yard with an abundance of excess energy and would not come when she called him, this went on for a bit of time. She commented it made her "angry" and said she needed more time with him, and would work with him when he came for day care. I took him back to day care the next week, but was met by the manager when I came to pick him up and said he was no longer welcome, said he was a liability, because of his size, and that he had begun "tagging" (which he leaned while he was there). She said they did not have the space or accommodations for a big breed of dog, so I assume they are no longer welcome when they become full size and the training check has cleared the bank. The trainer said she would have to come to the house to work with him since he was expelled, she came once, said she wanted to consult with another trainer, and suggested I use online training videos. I called and texted, with no resolution. I think she knew the training had failed and she wanted to make it right, but the tone changed entirely each time she said she needed to talk to the manager, have not heard back from her. We have been working with him daily, and he is somewhat improved, but every time he runs away and we have to track him down I become more frustrated and decided to speak up about my experience. read more

Been a regular daycare goer for several months now. My german shepherd gets to play with other dogs and sometimes get 1:1 play times to help release his energy. I have peace of mind that my dog isn't just home all day by himself waiting for me to come back from my long hours at work. Someone's gotta pay the bills unfortunately. This place has really changed over the years and not for the better. I began taking my dog here because he has high anxiety and we followed his groomer from another location. I took him to be groomed back in April. They said he needed shots [understandable]. On 4/17/2017, I stood in line for 2hrs to get the shots they said he needed [rabies]. Nothing else required due to his age. On 4/18/2017 [Very next day] he was groomed. I called to set an appt for him on 8/7/2017. They called back saying he needed shots. Really? I told them he had shots in April. They said their computer had crashed and they lost all the records. Ok fine! I take him to his appointment, only to be told he needed shots...what! I said he was just here in April [handed them the records] They said they don't groom dogs with only a rabies shot. I said that's incorrect because otherwise you would not have bathed him in April. So Lesley, indignantly says, well there are no notes [not the customers problem]. I would not frequent this business other than the fantastic groomer 'Ms.Liz'. Either the owners need to update their computer system or update their staff. At the minimum the staff could say, "Hello or Good Morning " when you walk in the door, instead of just stare. I wouldn't want my dogs to be in an environment of being potentionally harmed due to a horrific hurricane that's also brought tornados that have touched down. Refused care during worst hurricane Harvey. We were out of the country and we're going to pick our dogs up Aug 25 at 5 or 6 pm. This place emails me asking us to find someone to pick the dogs up before 1pm (when we were still out if the country) and pay at pick up or make an international call to pay. They are refusing all of this now but it is all in email. Please don't board here, they wash their hands off at the most dire stituations when help is needed. They said they will close at 1pm and may be closed for four days. Never offered to portect my pets for a mere four hours until our flight landed at 5pm the same day. Update: Roxanne - Thank you. Readers - Like I said I have everything in email and I will be glad to share. So I am not saying a word that is untrue. I am not on a binge to spoil any business. I have several reviews and very honest ones out there. My intention to ensure everyone knows my experience so you can use your discretion. The point is they never offered to take care and I cannot read minds. I even told them I understand their predicament but I was in helpless situation and they only said they were sorry for the inconvenience and they will close at 1pm and wanted to know if a neighbor can pick up. They had several chances to offer help. The email chain had about 20 exchanges back and forth within a few hours and I got the same response from them. These are times when one can clearly tell among good, great and poor businesses. Caring under normal circumstances is all fine but life threatening ones ..That's what makes a great business/human. The woman who drove to Rockport to rescue abandoned cats and dogs yesterday. Amazing! Sorry - Roxanne, you are not justified and believe it or not, we stand up for ourselves and our pets. Anyone complaining about having to pick up their animals before a historical storm in my mind maybe shouldn't be a pet owner! I am writing this review in response to Roxana's review/reply to my fathers initial review. I just want to clear a few things. My family dog is a Texas Blue Lacy, not a pit mix. To the untrained or uneducated eye, one might say he looks like a pit, but he is a lacy dog (which was discussed the first time we brought Blue to Preppy Pet). Our family lacy dog has also visited other facilities, many dog parks and lives with a 6 year old miniature schnauzer. He has never shown any sign of aggression or irritation with other dogs. As for the incident on 12/13/2016, Preppy Pet did not provide a safe environment for Blue to play and that is why I am upset. Charlie, the other dog invovled, had not visited Preppy Pet in some time due to an injury on his foot. I know this because my mother shared this information with me after being told this from a staff member. The staff at Preppy Pet have acknowledge Charlie as being an aggressive dog, as well as Roxana the day of the incident, she stated to my mother in front of me, that Charlie was the aggressor and Blue was not. In fact, one of the kennel techs had to stick their finger in Charlie's rear end to get him to release his bite from Blue. I also have information that Roxana was not present during the time of play/incident. I also have information that this is not the first time Charlie has attacked another dog. And I also have detailed information of the incident. By allowing this dog to continue to play with others, creates a very unsafe atmosphere. While we do not speak dog, we can read dog behaviors and act accordingly. And while I understand some days the dogs might play well together... if you have a dog that has history of aggression and is unpredictable, do not put him with my dog.... PERIOD! Last thing to address is Roxana being aloof to the situation. When she called my father because she could not get in touch with my mother, he was at work on the other side of Houston. Of course it would take him time to get there. She called my mother once; my father continued to call my mother until she answered and that is why she arrived before he did. Our vet is Tracy Animal Hospital, however because of the severity of the injury, we did not have time to travel the 20-25 minutes. Lakewood Vet is where we went because of the urgency of the situation. Preppy Pet did not pay half of the bill, only a quarter, and the remainder was covered by Charlie's parents, which we are grateful for. If I was the business owner of Preppy Pet, I would be ashamed of the way this situation was handled and is being handled by the manager. The reviews my father wrote were not vindictive to the company, rather stated the facts and warned clients and future clients to read the contract throughly. Fur children become part of the family and it is a shame they are not covered nor protected while in another person/facilities care. Love this place & their service! We left our two chihuahuas for 5 days and they came back happy. They have reasonable prices & many different options that suit all types of dogs. I would recommend coming here next time you need to leave your dog. They also have doggy daycare which you can include in your boarding or just bring your dog right in for the day. read more

This place is great! So happy with the way they took care of our 2 dogs, Lucy and Red.

I've taken a few tours of this place because I'm really picky about where I leave my pets. The first one was ok, the place is new so everything was pretty clean. The dogs in the daycare kennels up front didn't seem to have any toys in there with them and they looked kind of bored. The manager (the blonde one up front) was pretty rude and stand-offish. I went back to take another tour really recently and the manager had me wait (there was no one else in the lobby and she wasn't on the phone or anything), I'm not sure why I had to wait. This tour I noticed how dirty the water in the mop bucket was, the dogs in daycare still had no toys, the cat room smelled awful, and the back, which they brag about having this canine grass stuff, smelled really badly like urine. Because of all this I wouldn't board my pets here but what pushed me to write the review was that my friend said her parents had left their dog there over Thanksgiving and their dog came back with kennel cough. I guess these things happen but this place has barely been open a couple months. read more
