I normally don't eat pizza because of gluten-intolerance, but work was celebrating Radiology Week. So I took some digestive enzymes and hoped for the best. I'm from NJ and NY, so the bar is set high. I would have rated the pizza itself 3.5 (which is high for Florida pizza), but rounded up because of the friendly staff and quick pick-up service. We originally ordered 1 small meat lover's pizza and 1 small white pizza. When I got there, it looked small (but my eyes are always bigger than my stomach) so I added 1 small cheese pizza. Well, 2 small pies for 3 people was more than enough. The 3rd pie was unnecessary. The pizza slices are thick and very filling. Though this isn't the thin crust pizza from NJ and NY, it's also not a deep crust pizza. I'm not going to lie, the flavor was good and I didn't mind the thicker crust. While back in town, I HAD to come in for lunch. I have been going to this location with my family since I was a little kid and my parents since they were young. It's always been a staple. A reliable restaurant with good food and good service. Our party of 5 was seated right away. Our server was extremely helpful when ordering and very patient with my elderly grandparents who took along time to order. Our drinks were always full, and the food came out fast. For the table, we all shared a large antipasto salad with 2 scoops of potato salad, cheese bread, and 2 pizzas. There was MORE THAN ENOUGH food. The salad was crisp and fresh. The housemade salad dressing is delicious. The cheese bread is perfection and comes with red sauce for dipping. The pizza was hearty and cooked to perfection. This was my first time at ABC pizza. First of all I want to say the staff is so polite and friendly. What an open happy and welcoming place. We ordered two orders of garlic bread for a party of 5. It was so very good. 2 people decided to share a 10 inch meat lovers pizza. Which they were really impressed with. Often a lot of meat on pizza can be greasy but this wasn't at all. It tasted great. 2 other people ordered a veggie 10 inch pizza and loved it as well. Both were deep dish. One person ordered the chicken fettuccini Alfredo. It had a very good taste to it. Lots of chicken in it. More than one person could eat! I will say that the middle was Luke warm but the edges were extremely hot. Which lead me to believe it sat under a warmer waiting for the pizza to be done. It was still delicious. The atmosphere was old style pizza place. Family style. Noticed they had vintage video games. Saw Ms Pac-Man and a couple others. They were playing baseball on the TV's which we appreciated. This is some of the best pizza I have eaten since I moved down here from the Chicago area in 1974. It tastes like it was made by hand and not from premade ingredients. It reminds me of the pizzerias in Chicago. The rice pudding and cheesecake don't have that excess sugar feel, great! I would heartily recommend it. read more

I was quite surprised when I learned that there was still an ABC Pizza House operating. I used to be a regular at the one that was in my neck of the woods back in the day but they have been gone for a very long time. I used to get their (Tuesday?) spaghetti special, which is a huge portion of spaghetti with a layer of cheese baked on top and some bread on the side. I had to try it again and it was just as I remembered it. This isn't fancy pants Italian, but definitely a mom and pop style establishment where you can get some decent eats relatively cheaply. ABC - An addition to a few others, this Greek Pizza house is Tampa staple. The Greek salads are huge, spaghetti is saucy & pizza is unmatched. The heavy portion of the spaghetti is also available in a garlic sauce as opposed to traditional tomato sauce. My parents used to take me here and I'm told the original owner has now passed but some of the family are still attached & in that case I'll note the service has always been with a smile. Food is great, we had a few apps and pizzas while enjoying a pitcher of beer. The kids loved they had arcade games and ice cream too. The pizza was thick (like pizza hut) but not greasy. We got a cheese and a veggie - the veggie had a good amount of veggies but still a good thick crust. The sausage appetizer was just that, cooked sausage in cheese/sauce - yum. We ordered a greek salad which was awesome but we had to take home bc it was SO big. We wanted to try the potato salad, but it was more like mashed potatoes with a few chunks of potatoes in it - not a fan. Stopped in for some dinner on the way home since we hadn't been in YEARS and loved this place when we were younger. Plus stopping was convenient to our commute. Seated immediately and drink orders taken. Waitress returned quickly and took our food orders. This place was busy! Indoor table and booth seating. They even have a game room. I got the manicotti, hubs got the spaghetti and sausage and daughter got the meat lover pizza. Took a while for the food to come out and a totally different waiter brought it to us. Our server or any other server never returned to our table to check in. I had to walk over to where the wait staff were at to ask for our check and boxes to take the leftovers home. Manicotti was ok and hubs liked the spaghetti. Salads were subpar. Daughter was not a fan of the pizza. Food did arrive piping hot. read more

Not only the pizza full pie choices but an extensive list of all things pasta like hello Greece meets Italy or something. I had for the first time in my life EggPlant Rotilli pasta like my bestie orders in Seattle WA (I always thought she was nuts) turns out she knew exactly what she was doing. First I called them to see if they took over the phone orders (I'm so old school!) she took my order didn't scuff me away on hold eventhough they were closing with in the half hour and didn't ask for a cc or anything. I would've walked but it was dark, late and Seattle type cold in Tampa. Arrived to a packaged up Large Eggplant Lasagne with the most incredible type cheese sauce, a side Greek salad TWO dressing (I didn't have to ask for ) and a hefty toasted garlic buttered bread. I am a local and it was my first time visiting. I would definitely recommend and return to this hidden gem. They are a Greek influenced pizzeria. I had the pleasure trying their gyro pizza and their potato salad. Their potato salad is not your usual rough chop raw vegetables diced and tossed in squared potatoes. The potatoes are broken down and mixed to a thick consistency. I could continue to rave about their food however that would not do justice to their service. Our sever for the night was Savannah. Even being soft spoken she did everything a server is expected to do and beyond. I was trilled to see and experience such service so close to home. Keep up the wonderful work. read more

I've driven by this place a bunch of times, but only recently decided to check it out since I had zero desire to cook the other night (I feel like it's all I do lately!). Thankfully, it was super easy to order on their website, and the pizza was ready just 15 minutes later. My boyfriend warned me this wasn't going to be NY style (my preferred pizza type), but more of a pan style... I was still surprised at how thick the crust was. The good news is, it may be thicker, but that doesn't mean it's doughy. The crust (and bottom) of the pizza still had a nice crunch to it. I did wish I had a garlic sauce to dip the crust in though. We ordered half cheese, half pepperoni. I had briefly contemplated ordering extra cheese, but I'm glad I didn't -- it was pretty loaded with cheese as it was. The ingredients were fresh... I liked the sauce, and the cheese was great too. Oh, and the slices reheated very well in my air fryer (if you haven't tried that method yet for reheating pizza, you absolutely should). Now, I still prefer NY style, but I'd definitely keep this on the pizza rotation! I saw they have a pretty sizable Italian menu as well, so I will be back to try more of their food. read more

Chicken wings where so hormone induced they had a very strange taste just to say the least then I attempted to eat a steak sandwich and the meat was so weird it was rubbery texture the food was just so subpar they should really look into getting a local distributor, the french fries you can tell were pre-frozen nothing good about those my granddaughter enjoyed the tuna scoop and a bowl of ice cream she ate maybe two of the chicken wings and she was done the. You would really think that if you're going to pay $18 for 10 chicken wings they would be off the Richter scale. These weren't even close. I also tried their baklava that was just meh and they're supposed to be a Greek restaurant. I would say just stick to their pizza and salads and don't attempt to veer from that. read more

This place puts out great pizza!! I live in the Gibsonton area, which is not close to ABC, but anytime I'm near ABC, I get a pizza. The pizza is that good that I'll buy a pie just to put it in the refrigerator and eat later. Service has always been good. Friday night is pizza night at my house. If you're looking for a recommendation, and you're in the area, then I highly suggest visiting the long standing ABC Pizza House in Wellswood. Now in my 50's, I have been enjoying ABC pizza since I played Little League Baseball right around the corner. The building has not changed much since my youth and just walking through the doors takes me back to a much simpler time. With such familiarity, it is with great pleasure that I still get to share this restaurant with my wife and kids. As always, we ordered our standard pizza last weekend. With this, it is how we judge every pizza experience, no matter where we are at. A large pizza, half cheese and half sausage. As seen in my photos, the pizza is flawless. Perfectly rounded edges trap the oozing golden brown mozzarella cheese in to a delicious hardened shell that locks the ingredients on top in place. Trust me when I say that this is an art and it really gets no better than this! We also ordered some cheesy bread for the table. Our waitress forgot the marinara and we were so hungry that we devoured the cheesy greatness before she could return. I barely even got the photo taken before it was gone! Not pictured, but also recommended are the sangria and the Greek salad. No meal is complete without these two staples adorning the table as well. The Greek salad is more than enough to share, but be sure to tell your server to add the potato salad! After all, there is no need to count calories on Friday nights... We were seated and our waitress was wonderfully fast. We ordered a large Cheese pie and a salad, and I swear our food was out in record time. The cheese pie was perfect! We are in Tampa on a vacation and noticed there are always a lot of cars here in the parking lot. We stopped in for dinner and had the pleasure of being served by Dottie. She's super witty and funny. I asked her for suggestions on the food and she suggested the lagena or the Sunday spaghetti special so we ordered that. Both dishes were absolutely outstanding. Best lasagna I've ever had. It's fine pizza. A lot like Papa John's but with better ingredients. Their pizza sauce is sweet.

Feels like home. This place is comfortable with itself and its staff and it's comfortable for the guests. Why? Because you can tell they've been doing it forever. The staff is well-trained, quick, and friendly. The ambience feels lived in and like I stepped back in time with the dark wood paneling and booth seats to maybe the late 70s, early 80s. The food is reliably good and the prices are fair. They are great for large groups, children, and older people. What I love are the daily specials, the Greek salad, and the generous portion sizes. This is a small Florida chain of six pizza joints that seem to be a blend of Italian and Greek cuisines. I always associated "ABC" with ABC Liquors and had never gone in. Until today. It reminded me of the old CDBs. My 1 pm lunch found the Wells Wood location nearly empty with energetic servers. I was seated quickly, brought my drink and menu, and checked in with frequently. I chose the $7.99 grinder and salad lunch special, making it a meatball sub. This place specialized in gooey cheese and toasted bread. The meatball sub was filled with tasty meatballs and a very sloppy eat, due to the sliding thick cheese. Oh. so. good. The salad was fresh and larger than expected. Loved that the dressing comes in a squeeze bottle to suit your needs-and well balanced in flavor. I will return!
