I just stopped by here to get my car smogged. I called ahead and they told me $54 bucks and if I found it cheaper that they would match it. Well, I called around and found one for $50 bucks and was satisfied that I found a good deal. Before heading out I looked for a coupon to lessen the blow even more and found one for $10 bucks off. I arrived at the station and talked to the owner. He said that he would match the $50 bucks but they don't take coupons, so I started to leave. They stopped me at my car and asked how much the coupon was for, so I showed them $10 off inspection. They said that they would take the coupon but I would still have to get an EVAP test which would be $25 additional for a grand total of over $65 after state fee's. You know that feeling you get when you are getting screwed, well I got that feeling, so I smiled and waved bye-bye and drove straight home to do research on the matter. I called another SMOG station and asked how much it was going to be to get my car checked. They told me less than $40 with the coupon that I found. I asked about the EVAP test. They asked what kind of car I drive and I told them a 1999 Saturn. They said that an EVAP test is not required. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST. This is not a review. I intend to go there after I speak with them but have bo idea what their hours are. They aren't on the business card I was given by a neighboring mechanic yesterday and I can't find them anyplace online or on their facebook page. Anyone know their business hours? He said mine would be $71 something plus the certificate which would bring it to around $80 and he would knock $10 off. If you have a normal car that's less than 8 years old, don't bother coming to Bob. If you have failed your smog check or your car has ever failed somewhere else, go see Bob. I had an old rare BMW that was failed by another shop. I took it to Bob and he immediately knew the other shop was using an out of date reference. He runs my car off the correct reference and I passed. I take all my older or weird cars to ABC. I don't always pass, but I know it's because it shouldn't, not because of ignorance. read more

Just from my experience. I was in the area and knew of a shop down the street that would do the smog for $35. Unfortunately it was closed and decided to check out ABC Smog. I went in to check the price, and saw it was $50 for a small vehicle. Since I was in no rush to smog the car, I decided to turn back. The owner however waved me down as I was heading to my car and asked if I would do it for $40 (Smog and Certificate). I agreed since I would knock it out of the way. The actual smog process went well and my car passed. However, during the payment process I noticed he charged me the $50. I didn't notice until after the transaction was made, and I asked him why he hadn't charged me the $40 we agreed on. He said the certificate was extra now. I didn't make a big deal about it but he lost a customer that day. read more

First let me say that the posted prices are completely negotiable, walked in balked at the price and was instantly given a discount. Our vehicle has an intermittent check engine light, the light was out, but I wanted to make sure Bob was aware of this before the test. Bob listened and understood my concern. He asked several pertinent questions then diagnosed the issue before our smog check just to make sure that it wouldn't impair our test. He actually brought out two different diagnostic tools to check, and double check. He really went the extra mile with us making sure we wouldn't be wasting money on a vehicle that would fail. Smog service was handled quickly and efficiently. Could not be happier with the personal service and attention. We also found out that he services the vehicles for the Humane Society down the road.
