Horrible. My pops passed away 2 months ago, dealing with everything, I hadn't renewed registration on one of the two cars that he left to me. Not sure if it's registered to me, but I'm definitely on the financials...this guy claims he can only provide me new tags if I pay them in cash because it's suspicious. Never asking for an obituary or death certificate, the bill with my name on it. nothing. No solution. I've been using Dave for years and will be again today. If you want straight talk, reliable information, regardless of if its what you want to hear, the Daves your guy. Unlike the places that put you on test and instantly transmit and then cost you stupid money, he will stop, try to source issues and if he can't make minor fixes to solve problems that will cause failed tests, he will make recommendations. If you haven't been smart enough to already have a guy in place you trust with your servicing then shame on you, Get One! His advice is sound and from the bay sayers I have read here, it seems they have their panties in a wad because Dave would not change his opinion on what he felt needed to be done or juryrig a test to pass when a repair was justified. Whiners will whine, the majority or should I say overwhelming number of 5 stars aren't blowing smog up your pipe. He's actually that good and a super nice guy with a great lil biz going out of the no longer servicing service bay of the shell station. My Suburban is a 2006 with nearly 30000" miles on it and Dave will continue to keep it adding to the total for a few hundred thousand more or until the gasoline cars are phased out and forced to go end of life. Im not saying the clean emission Electrics aren't the right thing, I just hate the motor companies and petroleum industry not admitting the really truth and that truth is we will not be seeing gas prices reduce. Gas is a dying commodity now with a shelf life and with each new electric model and car that leaves the showroom floor, that shelf life shortens. They are going to bleed the consumers with gas powered engines for every penny they can until it is a dead animal! And as it shrinks the price will not! Anyone wanna bet on $10 gallon soon...that will either break your wallet while keeping rich rich until they force you to scrap the beast and buy new EV which by the way are anything but inexpensive. When they were conceptual, we were told they would revolutionize and change the planet while saving the consumer money. Just helped my friend pick up his new used car the day before, and while at AAA, we were informed that we had to go get the car smogged, and preferably the previous owner should have gotten the car smogged for us, but we didn't know. We were at another popular smog station nearby that had over a 2 hour wait then found this place on Yelp. Made a call and the guy here said he could do it immediately! We pulled the car up and he proceeded to inform us since we had a Cool Air Intake on the car with the proper sticker identification, he had to check with the state to see if it was legal, which ended up being ok. Overall, he was very friendly and down to earth, and told us next time we buy a used car, the previous owner is responsible for the smog, since if anything's wrong with it not passing, they have to fix it. It was our newbie used car buying mistake, but luckily the previous owner was honest and everything turned out fine. He provided great service and we were in and out within 20-30 min! I needed a smog check for my DMV renewal and found ABC Smog on Yelp. I spoke with David on the phone, and he said I could make an appointment or simply come in at 9:00 a.m. the next day (first come, first served). I got there early the next morning, and he arrived and greeted me a few minutes before 9:00 a.m. He was friendly and professional. As he conducted the smog test we chatted about the major tune up my car had just had. David asked me what I had had worked on, and he looked at my car and noted that I had been charged for things that had not been done. He helped me make a list of what should have been done, and told me he thought the mechanic owed me about $100 back. He gave me some other helpful car advice, completed my paperwork, and sent me on my way. I followed up with the mechanic that night and, sure enough, David was right. The mechanic reviewed the work, made things right, and refunded me what I'd been overcharged. Thank you, David, for the great service and good advice! read more

Didn't realize until 4pm on a Saturday that I had to get my car smogged before I could renew my registration online. Lucky for me ABC Smog was open until 4:30 and only a few min. away. I got there at 4:20 and it was still open. Very friendly and professional. Very unhelpful. I took a car there and received numerous lectures about the age of the vehicle and whether the Catalytic converter had ever been replaced (it hadn't). Then he referred me to a shop to go and get a new Catalytic converter right up the road. It seemed suspect so.....After wasting 20 minutes with circular conversation I went to another STAR station and left with my passed test in 20 minutes. read more
