ABC Stores are the best combination of a convenience store and souvenir shop. This store is big, and the selection is amazing. Gift items include clothes, magnets, keychains, postcards, household items, jewelry, snacks, candies, coffee, and other random knickknacks. There is a lot of stuff to choose from, and there are bulk prices for the most popular chocolate boxes, such as Hawaiian Host or Mauna Loa. Also, the lilikoi and pineapple flavored Hi-Chews are exclusive to ABC Stores so stock up on those. This can be the place for you to get all of your gift shopping done on a budget. The convenience store is reasonably priced as well and has a large selection of alcohol and some premade food. Save up your receipts if you are going to be a frequent customer. Every $100 spent gets you a free gift of a calendar, mug, or tote bag, and the receipts can be combined from different ABC Stores. This ABC Store is conveniently located in the heart of Kapaa and has its own parking lot so it is a great stop when exploring Kapaa. read more

My sister-in-law said that ABC Stores were going to be my best friend in Hawaii. She didn't lie! I was so excited to go to ABC Stores that I requested a catalog to prepare myself. It did not disappoint. I wanted to go every day! And while I didn't make it every day, I did go more days than not. Some people complained that the prices were high... I found them to be reasonable and was fine spending the money I did. Everything is expensive in Hawaii, get over it. And I did save my receipts and I did get TWO free gifts for the amount I spent and I was happy to receive them. some reviewers have complained that the gifts they could receive from saving their receipts aren't worth it. Shut up! I don't see any other place offering to give you free stuff if you spend money there. And while the gifts aren't bars of gold, they're nice gifts that you wouldn't have received otherwise. Let us not act like entitled brats, okay? the best part about this particular location is the store manager, Leeann. She was working every time I went in and she always remembered me. She's super friendly and so nice and I think I almost had her convinced to adopt me so I didn't have to come back to Missouri! I'm still waiting for the custody hearing, Leeann!! So the Kapaa location is one of two ABC Stores that I visited during my holiday and I have to say...it was quite a pleasant experience. The best souvenirs I got in HI were from ABC stores! Almost everything here is junk. The jewelry is likely to break before you get back to the mainland, and anything that looks like it is from Hawaii is most likely from Indonesia instead. That said, they do have a nice assortment of local drinks and candy. The staff is friendly, and they will remind you to keep your receipts for a free gift... but who spends $500 at the ABC store? And if I did, I would expect a better free gift than a cheap collapsible cooler! We were able to find a great Ukulele here ($21) which although is not nearly as good as one from a music shop, is leaps and bounds better then the junky ones at Walmart. Make sure it uses worm gears to hold the strings in place or you will need to re-tune it every 20 seconds. read more

Perfect place to buy some generic Hawaiian gifts to bring home for your friends and family. They've got everything you can think of: leis, dresses, shirts, keychains, shot glasses, postcards, calendars, macadamia nuts, chocolate, alcohol, hats, and so much more. I believe most of the items are made in Hawaii... or in China. I didn't really look. Since I wanted to buy things that were just made in Kauai, I settled for the Salty Wahine sea salts to buy as souvenirs/gifts. The Hawaiian Rub and the Guava Garlic salt smelled delicious. The hawaiian convience store with a bunch of stuff. Prices are fairly decent. On this visit, the sunscreen was cheaper than at Long's. Wish I had checked that out before buying at Long's. ok so this is a total tourist spot but i dont care. lol i love it, i love their cheap dresses that i wear around the house...they have a bunch of fun stuff to bring back home for friends. i got a cute cell case not bad prices..mine lasted ok...the plastic is hard so when my friend dropped hers it cracked. mine didnt the many times i dropped it, but eventually near the volume area. but hey, it protected it for months. :) if you haven't been go its got some fun stuff...oh and fun cheap shirts. I've been to this store with my wife for three consecutive days. Hot Kona Coffee and fresh fruits each morning can't be beat! We've purchased hats and a sundress...the prices are a super bargain compared to the typical "tourist" stop and shops. The staff that works at this location (we've experienced three different crews) have all been genuinely friendly and extremely helpful. When I lived on Kauai, I thought these stores were a bit touristy and didn't really go in there much. I think the most likely reason to go in there would be to buy drinks before heading to the beach. Now that I don't live there anymore, I STILL think these stores are touristy! The only difference is that I have friends in California who are expecting that I bring some souvenirs back for them. This is a great one-stop-shop for that sort of thing. I always end up stopping here at least once whenever I'm back on the island, and usually end up purchasing various calendars, trinkets, and snacks. Hahaha. I'm usually not a fan of tourist shops, but in Hawaii the ABC STORES are a nice change of pace. They have a wide variety souvenirs, Hawaiian clothes, food and drink items, all at reasonable prices. The staff are friendly and always greet you with an Aloha.
