They were amazing! I came in Wednesday night right before closing with two items I needed to embroider with names. I needed them by Saturday afternoon. Although it was tight with the holiday season and all the other orders they had, they got it done by Friday afternoon. Great price too - total was $15 for two names (one on a hat and another on lux pajamas) and made sure to send me proofs beforehand and got an email when it was ready. Honestly, I didn't want to review this place because I just didn't care for the experience much at the time. However, this business will continue to harass former customers for payment almost 2 YEARS later. The one and only time I used Abcde Embroidery services was in 2015. One star for actually getting my order completed in time. First off, their business model/payment plan is terrible, and does not seem to benefit either side very much. I did not have to pay them until after the order was completed. Months after I received my embroidered items did I receive an invoice email from them. Sara was the only person I was in contact with throughout this entire transaction. The only time when she did not respond in a rude or blunt manner was when I asked where to mail my check and she gave me the info. Even after I sent the check, she repeatedly spammed me with emails telling me where to mail my check even though she had cashed it in the month before. I sent an email with a screenshot of the deposited check reminding her that she already received my payment. I did not get a response back. Fast forward to a year later, and I received a new email from Sara demanding payment and threatening to not accept any more orders from my school chapter if she did not receive payment in the next few weeks. I have never met a business so disorganized that they cannot even remember which customers owe them money even years later. These emails are representative of their terrible treatment and harassment for customers. I highly encourage that people looking for embroidery services to take their money and dignity elsewhere. read more

Solid and well priced embroidery shop Overall: 4/5 Value: 5/5 Quality: 4/5 Service: 3/5 Expect limited and somewhat brusque customer service but it gets the job done at a good price with relatively high quality work which is what I needed for creating team gear. It's not really the place that you get highly personalized customer service and handholding - it's pretty clear they rely on volume here given their reasonable pricing. Logo digitization fee was around $30 on a one time basis and embroidery of about a 2" logo was $5 per item and it's even cheaper if you have more significant quantity (brought in 15 items one time and it was $4.5 per item) but they can do one offs too - this is far less expensive than what multiple other shops were quoting me. Just know exactly what you want, be as clear as you can (I always mark garments with where I want the logo with a bit of clear tape). They'll email with communication of when it's ready and you can email for initial quote too. Generally pretty fast turn around too - about a day or two or so. An honest establishment in my experience (at least going in person, can't speak for mail in or other), have been several times for various one off projects and would recommend. read more

Came here to buy paddles and letters for my organization. We received a decent discount because we purchased twelve, 3 foot paddles! The wooden letters they carry come in various sizes which makes everything easier. I haven't had anything embroidered yet here but I look forward to getting my letters embroidered on my shirt from here! Overall, the atmosphere was a bit cramped because of the boxes but we got the job done. The owner of this store was very friendly and helped us pick out letters for our paddles! ** I went back again the other day for letters and I was being "helped" by the woman, and she was NOT HELPFUL. She did not give me prices, did not show me any books of the garments, and threw the color swatch at me. I feel like I was a chore and something she just wanted to get over so I could leave. I feel like I was being looked down upon and bullied but that's just me. I left the store feeling unsatisfied. I am not sure why they get some many bad reviews. This is one of the best place I even went for embroidery. Once your logo is digitized, it only takes them a day to finish my logos on our 7 uniforms. If you know what do you want, all it takes is about 4 emails, two trips and under 70 bucks for 7 outstanding logo embroidery. How can you ask for more. I came from Indiana, I used to spend 37 dollars for one embroidery, and I will have to wait a week to see the final product. read more

They do good work, but because of their high volume of clients, attention to detail is lackluster. It is apparent that they don't have a good system to keep track of all of their orders (whether in progress or complete). If you don't believe me, take a trip over to their work space and you'll see what I mean. It is an absolute disaster in there. I'm honestly surprised they didn't lose my order. I had four scrub tops to get embroidered with our office logo, and much of the communication with them was done via email. All of my emails were responded to promptly and it was pretty easy to get a hold of someone from ABCDE if I had a question. I went in once to drop off our scrubs and was told that they would prepare a sample for us before they went ahead with the order. This was great! The only issue with the sample was that it was a little bigger than we wanted, so I asked them to size it down, and that was that. The next email we received was that our order was ready. Onto our completed items: the embroidering looked fantastic! Especially for how thin the lettering was. However, it had been embroidered on the left chest instead of the right chest as I'd asked. The lady even looked up our email to verify that I had in fact specified that the embroidery should be on the RIGHT chest and not the LEFT chest, which I did. Still, she was pretty unapologetic about it, and after some discussion she ended up giving us a 25% discount on the embroidery only (and it was unlikely that her boss would be any more generous, she said). The total order was $65 including digitalizing..and we got $5 off...which I guess is something, but really not substantial enough to make up for the mistake. What really REALLY bothered me was their unwillingness to take responsibility for the mistake, so I'm glad the mistake wasn't a terrible one like spelling something incorrectly. I would definitely not bring anything remotely important back here to be embroidered. However, this is definitely good for someone who is on a tight budget and wants to get something customized. Also, don't expect a quick turnaround on your items. The entire process will most likely take a week or two. read more

This place saved my life - they have a huge assortment of letters to put on paddles in all different sizes and the workers there are also very helpful. They also have different sized paddles from small ones to human height (like 5ft LOL) The place is pretty small and not what I expected - it was also messy but I expected as much with all the orders they had to finish because of crossing season. I'm not a vain guy, but if it also serves a practical purpose such as having a name tag why the hell not. People will remember you! I stopped in to get my Chef's Jacket embroidered. I actually did a ton of research on it, from price to font styles. I found on average, it's a $5 set up fee and $1/ 1000 stitches so $7 for my name was just about right. The guy I spoke to wasn't too keen on making suggestions for font as I'm sure he'd prefer the customer to make all the decisions. There was also a template for chefs jacket he wrote my order on. I stuck with Script (only because it's no longer taught in school and still a classic). I said black, but then switched it to Navy Blue and crossed my fingers it's dark enough. He also said 20 minutes, but I just came back later. It's a small business. So small that when you walk in, the office is so tightly packed with goods there's hardly any room for counter space. Nevertheless you'll find that they have orders and merchandise all over the place which is a good indication that this place is here to stay. Tip: It's on the third floor and if the elevator seems to be taking forever - may as well go for the stairs. Confirm spelling of everything before you leave. No regrets as it came out nicely. It seemed slanted above the pocket at first, but I measured it and it's fine. It's just because the stiff fabric backing was newly sewn in and I'm sure it'll look normal after a wash. read more

I am disappointed. The embroidery is top notch, the prices were fair, but the service was so disappointing from my pre-visit phone call to the moment I picked-up my towels, that I will never ever go back again. I called to ascertain whether ABCDE could complete monogramming less than a week before Christmas. The person who picked up the phone curtly replied that he needed to clear the week's projects before the weekend. That did not answer my question, at which he basically told me to come in within the next 15 minutes to find out - an impossibility. Taking my chances, I went in the next day but was given what can only be described as a total brush-off. The same man not only did not acknowledge me in the store, but he seemed annoyed that I could not more aptly describe the precise font and size to monogram 6 towels in a towel set. He had the towels there and we could have made a decision together, but he really insisted on making my life difficult. He then walked-away. There was no conflict or anything - he just walked away when I didn't know. Never seen anything like it. When we asked the next step, and whether this could be done in time, another worker, as if embarrassed, tried to answer my questions. When we finally got to pricing however, she could not answer and could only defer to the first unhelpful man, who told us that they would email us with a price and go from there. Shady. read more

Some seem to have great correspondence with ABCDE - I must have caught them on all the wrong days. Don't expect efficient communication or quality service (or any shred of courtesy at that.) I chose to stick through it, as their bargain rates seemed to make it worthwhile. I initially contacted them over a month ago... They're busy, and there is a wait list. However, that wait list was used against me as a petty resolution to a dispute I had with the woman in charge of email correspondence. 4 emails in a row, she ignored my questions (as I attempted to move past the topic), but chose to lecture me endlessly in attempts of strengthening her argument... She felt some type of way, and apparently felt that both showing it and proving me wrong was first priority. I made it into the shop a couple times, and although the man (working alone amidst a sea of garments) was impatient at first, he was generous enough to make time to explain the process and answer my questions. He answered all of them (I had a lot) and even offered suggestions. This helpful gesture earned their review AN ADDITIONAL STAR. So thank you, sir. I saw the samples he was working with. They make a quality product. With that said, they need to drastically improve their communication and stress management skills. Or find someone less frivolous to handle communication. If she must stay -- I recommend meditation and herbal tea. Deep breaths. Extremely rude service. It takes a lot to get me riled up, but I just had to write about my last experience with this place. I called in to check in on an order because my emails weren't being answered, and ended up getting into a fight with the woman who answered the phone. I demanded to speak to the manager because I couldn't handle her attitude, and was told he wasn't in. It took my boyfriend calling from a separate phone to finally reach him. The manager didn't even apologize for his staff member's rude behavior, and when I said that I did not care for the woman answering phones with an attitude and that she should not speak to customers that way, he told me that it was my prerogative as to where I took my business because he had plenty of other orders to worry about. I had a very unique embroidery need -- my family wanted to make a scarf/wrap for my mom for her birthday with 8 custom hand-drawn pictures embroidered on it. The drawings ranged from simple stick figures to complex shadowed figures and trees. Sara digitized the drawings and created unbelievable embroidered versions for the scarf. And the price was very reasonable for all the work that I can tell they put into the project. I've been going to ABCDE for 5 years for our custom sorority clothing--the owner Max really delivers! All our greek apparel are great quality, and given that you place your order about a month or so in advance--he'll have it ready for you in time, and at reasonable prices. If you need a rush order, they may or may not be able to do it for you if it's their busy season (April-May and Nov-Dec), but you can always inquire. If they mess up,they are quick to rectify their mistakes and will offer discounts. Just be clear about what it is that you want, and your transaction should be smooth and easy! Fantastic embroidery at a super reasonable price! My job didn't have a strict deadline, so it definitely took a long time to get it done (maybe this would be different if I was in a rush). I strongly suggest planning ahead because they seem super busy and email communication could sometimes take days in between replies. I got a digitized version of my logo for $40 and the embroidery was better-quality and less-expensive than I've ever found in NYC! Although it's small he tried to make room for you to work. I came here countless times to get paddles and wooden letters. And since it was my first time Max was really helpful in giving me tips on how to place the letters, the different sizes letters should be and everything in between. I got embroideries on my bridesmaids' gifts (polo shirts). I searched online for a place that does customs embroidery and found this place. I visited the shop to get rough pricing for the design I had in mind. I initially planned to have the names embroidered on the back but with a very helpful advice from Mei, I chose to put the names on the sleeves instead. Through the entire process (from choosing the fonts, thread color to deciding the size of embroidery) Sara&Mei helped me through by sending me sample pictures and showing me the actual embroidery. My order turned into a much smaller project than I first planned but they were never pushy or reluctant (Mei actually suggested to go with the sleeve design because it was more delicate and was more appropriate with the shirt).
