I have no idea why the person on the phone was so irate, irrational and rude to me. I've been designing graphics for 32 years and offered suggestions on how to make the job flow quicker and smoother. The man at Abcde was immediately huffy and started cursing at me then hung up. I called back to apologize since I maybe said or did something wrong. The man on the phone again started yelling at me and informing me that I am stupid and have no right to tell him how to do his job. I then hung up on him in the middle of his yelling spree and have since found a more friendly embroidery place that actually does not mind communicating in a nice way. The service they provide is probably ok, but the care, and consideration for their clientele obviously does not exist. Among the worst customer service I have experienced from any small business. "Sara" or the person who answers their emails using that name is extremely rude, does not follow-up promptly. Their actual showroom/office/facility is a disorganized mess. They have no idea what is going on. In a bit of desperation (after very prolonged wait on back-and-forth emails), I decided th embroider a few hats. Any body's Custom Design Embroidery (ABDCE) is terrible - Go to Brooklyn Stitch instead After my encounter with ABCDE it was clear that they did not have the equipment nor the talent or quality of service to address even basic embroidery requests. I first approached Any body's with a simple silhouette custom design that I wanted embroidered the size of a Polo logo. Even from the first phone call the staff was dismissive and uninformative. I went in to show the design and they were very pessimistic but I sent my design anyway. I received a one sentence replay saying they couldn't do the job. Working with Brooklyn Stitch was like night and day: they clearly demonstrated quality technology/equipment and attention to service, but above all - quality product. Even for a one piece custom job, David was extremely informative, friendly and accommodating. I definitely wouldn't recommend. I was looking to embroider some handkerchiefs for my wedding. I wrote emails with specifics about what I needed and got a quote. I called to confirm the quote to make sure I wasn't treking to Chinatown for nothing and when I arrived they wanted to me pay almost double what they said. On top of that, the man in charge was rude and condescending and told me it was my fault, which seemed bizarre as he also said in the same sentence that he didn't read my email all the way. The shop was in a sketchy little building in Chinatown so I was already nervous about it, but after this ridiculous treatment and a waste of a day, there was no way I would use their services. read more

I went to ABCDE for an embroidery job based on the reviews of fellow Yelpers, and was not disappointed. My job was fairly simple. I initially had a hard time envisioning what I wanted and figuring out where the font should go. The guy who handles customers helped me with placement and a suggestion of font style to avoid. I trusted him. I did not think he was unfriendly at all, but can see why some think he is brusk. I thought of him as being very busy, because they have a ton of jobs to do that are piled up everywhere in their tiny workshop. Sarah sent me an email when my embroidery was ready to be picked up. Cash only. I went to ABCDE for a good job at a good price. Both of my objectives were achieved, and the embroidery looked great! I will definitely go back. read more

Had a few items we were looking to get embroidered as Christmas gifts. A robe, a pillowcase, and a throw. Though we had a general idea of what we wanted, we didn't come prepared with much in terms of details. The owner did a great job walking us through the options, emailed us the next day with sample scripts, and worked with us via email until we were satisfied. This is the worse experience ever!!! I first time ordered a fraternity hoodie with them for my little's induction. I understand they're busy with orders, but the person yelled at me over phone, canceled my order and hung up on me!!! it's all because I sent like 10 emails back and forth regarding my order requirements. I admitted that I didn't say everything in the first email but later I combined everything on one email. But the person kept saying i shouldnt have sent so many emails to them! and canceled my order the day before my little induction! Such a irresponsible business. read more

Found this place on Yelp due to the great reviews. I walked in and brought 10 polos that needed simple embroidery for a friend's cell phone store (name and picture). I needed the shirts to be completed in 3 days for their grand opening which they couldn't promises because they were too busy. I spoke to Max who does not have an ounce of customer service in his body. He seemed very stressed and agitated and could not give me a direct answer on almost anything. He informed me I would have to email his employee Sara a sample of the logo and the dimensions. Once the image was emailed, I was informed that the image would be HUGE on the chest and probably not what I wanted. I asked them what kind of file (jpeg, psd, gif, etc) is needed for a clearer image without having a giant logo on the chest of the polo. He did not know and made no effort to gain my business. A lot of back and fourth until i finally decided to go with an online shirt making company. It would have been nice to support my local business but instead I went and picked up my shirts. I just needed a small job done on one piece to match some embroidery on another item I had embroidered in the past. When calling another location, they didn't seem to want the job because it was only one piece. However ABCDE was very helpful and didn't turn away the business even though it wasn't a big order. They did a great job matching the previous embroidery and for a very good price too. If I ever require any other embroidery work I will come here first out of sheer gratitude for their great service and assistance with this small job. read more

The first two times I used them, they already had a poor rating, but since they were close to our office, I thought I'd give them a try. I wasn't expecting stellar customer service, and Max and Sarah did not disappoint in meeting those low expectations. They charged me $45 to digitize my logo and $5 to put onto caps that I brought to them since they only sold cheap, and poor-quality caps. They messed up the order and cost me a single cap, but I didn't want to complain because I didn't want to give Max a hard time as he seemed tired of dealing with customers and perhaps the job in general; I let it go. Fast forward to the past two weeks where I e-mailed them with a new logo, and a request for a quote. I mentioned the pricing that I was familiar with and after a lengthy delay, received a blunt reply, with an incredulous tone as to where I got the $5/cap price from. I replied calmly and sent them their original invoice with the pricing they had given me and apologized if they were offended. I received no reply after that, until I sent another e-mail because I was losing time waiting for the quote. While I understand it's the holiday season, responding to an urgent request for a quote seems reasonable given a day, or two days, or maybe three days, but Sara did not oblige me with a quote. I then called them and was told by a colleague that "wait for Sara" and abruptly hung up on. I think he meant to wait for her to respond to my e-mail. I didn't receive a call that day, nor a follow-up e-mail until I inquired once more. This time I was told to send them a larger image, and after another day, they said parts of the logo would not come out since they were too detailed, but they gave no further instructions. Beginning to get frustrated myself, and starting to get the hint that they did not want my business, I replied and stated that we could forget about the detail or something to that extent, basically asking them to give me a quote and timeline. I wish I could say that I ended up giving them the job and that I was a happy customer, but I wrote them a final e-mail stating my issues with their poor customer service and how disappointed I was. Not surprisingly, they did not choose to defend their absolute disgusting, reprehensible approach to dealing with, not a NEW customer, but an existing customer. The truth is, if you're lucky and you catch them in a good mood, you can risk your embroidery job on ABCDE Embroidery... but it really is not worth the possible headache that comes with dealing with these people. They used to operate out of Seaport many years ago, but it's like they hate their jobs and resent having to deal with customers that want nothing more than a job well done. For them, if your job isn't worth their time, believe me, they'll let you know it. I'm not going to give them a 1-star, because if you just want the job done, and you're a GAMBLER, for the price, they will do the job. It wont' be extraordinary, but you'll get what you pay for. However, if you pay almost $50 bucks for them to digitize your logo, and they eff you, you can't simply take that digitized logo file and go somewhere else. If this review can help one person avoid having to experience what I have, then there's equalizing justice in the Universe. I don't have to wish them any ill will because I know that their behavior (and karma) will eventually catch up to them. read more

-The most rude and atrocious customer service from any business in New York City I've ever had, bar none. The owner (I believe - he did not want to tell me his name) told me the design for a blanket I asked to have embroidered would look "disgusting", and that the whole thing was a "horrible idea". I was on a tight deadline and did my best to come up with a design that would be easy and quick to execute (not the one I originally wanted), and even offered to pay extra for rush-service - the man could not have been more unhelpful if he had tried. It took them three days to get back to me with any kind of response (even after I called on the same day to make sure they received my instructions), I was never told when it would be finished, nor what the price would be. Luckily, when I went to pick it up, it was done and even looked good - the only reason I'm not giving this shop a 1 star rating. Avoid like the plague, unless you're desperate, and are willing to suck up to someone who clearly thinks all his customers are a**holes! read more
