I reached out to JFW last year after the workers comp insurance discarded me like a dirty dish rag…read more I was not angry but very confused, because they said I was certain percent disabled but could go back to work. I spoke to Alejandra long and loud from the very beginning I felt a sense of hope. she was always very professional and on point and specially when she said I will call you back SHE DID !! She was always very comforting and understanding. I never felt like I was alone fighting the WC .I also had the pleasure to speak to other staff members. they were as well very kind and knowledgeable and always gave me a piece of mind. When I spoke to Diego I was able to see the light at the end of the tunnel, again very explaining and knowledgeable.this law firm was a true blessing in my case. Alejandra followed up with constant news and updates I was so very thankful for her due diligence. May the good Lord take care of this team they are amazing people. I would highly recommend their services if need be. Beatriz Esmeralda Martinez

I retained this firm in June of 2023. My case was in default by March 2024. After two failed attempted to get the packet approved from March to January or 2025, they let the default judgment packet sit idle for 18 months. In June of 2025 defendant's business closed at which time, I requested they request an expedited hearing to get the packet approved. The request was ignored. Instead, they filed continuances without telling me. I was physically sick when I realized the packet they finally submitted after 18 months is substantively identical to the previous packet. Throughout this process, I repeatedly reached out for updates. I often have had to reach out multiple times to get a response and many of the responses I received were confusing, incomplete, or contradicted earlier explanations and the court records. I often felt like I wasn't being given the full picture of what was happening with my case. When I asked for basic case information--billing records, a timeline, an explanation of delays--I was told by Tara Hattendorf my requests were "not reasonable or practicable." When I asked about malpractice insurance, Tara told me I was creating a conflict of interest. I'm sharing my experience because I don't want anyone else to go through the stress, confusion, and emotional toll that I am. I filed a complaint with the State Bar so they can review what happened. I trusted this firm, and I regret that trust. I hope my experience helps someone else make an informed decision.

I'm extremely disappointed with this law firm and especially with the case worker, Gutierrez. My…read moremother is going through a workers' compensation case, and instead of helping make this process easier, this office has made everything much more stressful. From the start, we've had several different points of contact--every time we finally get someone who seems consistent, they change the person again. Gutierrez was supposed to finally be that stable point of communication, but she's been the exact opposite. She promised regular calls every other Friday, promised to keep my mom updated, and promised to follow through on specific tasks for the case. She hasn't fulfilled a single one of those commitments. When my mom or I call, she is repeatedly rude, condescending, and dismissive. She cuts my mom off mid-sentence, talks over her, and treats her as if she's an inconvenience instead of a client going through a difficult situation. The disrespect is constant--this isn't a one-time thing. It's happened at least four separate times now. Each time we've had to complain about the way she speaks to people. Even today, she answered the phone with an attitude before we could even explain why we were calling. It's extremely unprofessional for someone working in a field that is supposed to advocate for injured workers. My mother deserves dignity and clear communication; instead, she's been met with indifference and entitlement. We should NOT have to match anyone's energy just to be heard or treated respectfully. If you are looking for a workers' compensation lawyer who actually communicates, honors their word, and treats clients with respect, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. This level of unprofessionalism should not be considered normal at any law firm.
