I absolutely loved the vet practice I had used for over twenty years but they sold-out to a major corporation and the service went downhill and their fees went sky-high. After looking into and speaking with five other practices, my search ended at Aberdeen. Here, I have found a knowledgeable, experienced, gentle and caring veterinarian in Dr. C.. He is confidant in his abilities but not overbearing and respectful of me as my pets' guardian. His staff is a reflection of him- competent, respectful, cheerful. The clinic is very clean and maintained, bright and comfortable. I have never waited more than 5-10 minutes for our appointments. Best of all, my two dogs are not afraid to return here, even after two years of exams, vaccines, dental cleaning, etc.. I have never seen a terrified animal in the waiting room which, admittedly, was common at our former vet. As a pet owner of almost 40 years, I have, do and will continue to recommend Dr. Dean C. and his staff at Aberdeen Animal Hospital. read more

Compassionate, caring, trustworthy! Dr. Christopoulos is knowledgeable and experienced. We have an elderly dog who needs a fair amount of medical care and they are always honest with us about what he needs or doesn't need. The only reason I am giving 1 star is for the vet himself, otherwise I'd give zero. I have a 9 month old Siberian Husky puppy. We have gone to this vet and more often than not the problems lie with the receptionists and vet techs. I took her to get her stitches out after her spay. She is a very anxious dog so I knew it would be difficult. What I did not know is that they would be taking the stitches out in the lobby of the office. They excepted me to hold her down which I tried to do, but as anxious as she was, that couldn't be attained. As my dog snipped at the vet tech because of how scared she was, she directed the other woman to grab a muzzle. While they struggled to put the muzzle on her, the vet tech Amanda pulled her collar back tight in a very aggressive way. They then pushed her onto the floor to get her stitches out and ridiculed me about where I take her to get her training done. Please keep in mind that this was all done in the LOBBY of the office. How is it ok to take stitches out without wearing gloves, in a non sterile environment? They have been nothing but rude and empathetic and constantly remind me that "she's a husky, she's fine". While I'm well aware of the type of breed I own, I will not tolerate someone treating me like a child and expecting me to do their job, while throwing my dog around like a rag doll. Do yourself a favor and take your animal elsewhere that has empathy and understands. While Dr. C is great at what he does, his condensing, snobby, and rude assistants will never lay a finger on my dog again. read more

I moved from Naperville to Des Plaines in June, and needed to find a new vet for my cats and the sweet senior prom-mix (Tinkerbell) I adopted this past April. I made an appointment at Aberdeen since it's only a couple miles from my new house, and because of all the great reviews I found. Everyone there was very nice, and I only had to wait about 5 minutes (after getting checked in) to see the doctor. The vet was very personable and was gentle with Tinkerbell while looking her over. He recommended getting her teeth cleaned, so I made that appointment while I was there. They were completely up-front about pricing, and prepared an estimate for the next visit while I checked out. Pricing is very reasonable, and although I don't have a basis for comparison (since I've only had cats until recently); I don't feel like they are overcharging for services like I'm sure my last vet did. What an amazing animal hospital! I am glad I found this place. Talk about an eye opener/game changer. I used to take my dogs to banfield. After coming here, you realize how much of a joke banfield really is. Everyone at this vet are very nice. And Dr. Chris, amazing. He explains things to you in ways you can understand. And he doesn't charge a second mortgage to see and treat your pets. I can't even tell you how many wrong diagnoses came out of banfield. And how much more we paid because of their inflated prices. Our dogs haven't been this healthy and happy in a long while. And we have Aberdeen to thank for that. Excellent care, excellent vet. When you go to many other vet clinics, you (very often) don't know who you're actually going to see. And the vet that you do see is frequently a recent vet school graduate with limited experience. At Aberdeen, you know who you're going to see every time: a veteran, experienced doctor who's seen it all. The staff at the front desk is great,too. My dog and I have only been here once, but we look forward to being lifelong patrons of this establishment! We had a truly wonderful experience. Previously, we were patrons of multiple Banfield locations but the downright awful way we were treated left us looking for a new vet. Transferring my dog's care to Aberdeen was painless; the vet tech I dealt with was clear and concise in helping me gather everything I needed for our first appointment (medical history, stool sample, etc). Upon arrival, we were checked in and saw the vet promptly - there was no wait. Dr. Christopolous was on vacation, but the relief vet we saw was absolutely wonderful with my slightly shy dog. It was complete night and day in comparison to vet care we've received elsewhere. She also gave us some good recommendations on how to keep his joints healthy during our long-distance jogging. Overall, so pleased with my first experience and looking forward to more (if that is a thing that can be said about taking your dog to the vet lol). read more

I am from out of state and brought my cats with me and one got sick:( I was very reluctant to take my sick cat to a new vet but thanks to the Yelp reviews found this one and was very happy with the vet/office. The room was clean, the vet nice and very generous with his time. My cat liked the vet and the staff and the visit was not stressful for her. The visit was affordable and the vet was thorough with his exam and honest with his assessment/recommendation and didn't push for expensive tests. There was no wait for me when I arrived at my scheduled time and the office visit was arranged that same day. The best thing: no paperwork! I would return to this vet if I lived in the area. Have gone for years. Dr. Chris is a wonderful vet. The only bad experience was during Covid on 6/22 could not be with our Mackie during exam. Decision was made to put our boy down. My husband then went in. But, during exam Mackie was nervous with fast heart rate due to trauma from car ride. Dr. Chris does have a lot of compassion. read more

Dr. Dean is the absolute best bet ever!! We have a dog with extreme anxiety who begins shaking in fear, thrashes and tries to bite even with a muzzle on when she gets examined. We've been going to Aberdeen for almost 11 years now. They've taken wonderful care of our dog, both with his regular check-ups and the various issues/emergencies he's had over the years. Dr. Christopoulos is intelligent, ethical and compassionate, and I trust him completely with our little boy. The staff is kind and has always been very helpful and well organized. Let's get real here. We're all looking for a bargain in this age of escalating healthcare costs (human and pet). I get my dogs' rabies vaccinations at a discount pet food store. But you need a reliable vet with records and experience. That's Aberdeen Animal Hospital. My pit bull recently had some ear irritation. Eh, pits have sensitive skin. But it got bad. I got a next day appointment and Dr. Christopolous diagnosed an infection. Because she wouldn't allow us to touch her sore ear, she was given an injection of steroids and oral anti-biotic. Bailey is almost back to her old self now, with no wrestling matches. Highly recommended. read more

terrible service at the front desk. lady is soooooo rude. i was telling her my situation my dog has been having and 10 seconds in she cut me off rudely and said "whatttttts yourrrr question", didnt have to cut me off because i was getting to the point and my particular dog breed has anxiety badly when no ones home even for 30 minutes.. her best advice was to find a new owner for my dog or get a babysitter... real professional secretary. so in shock i just brush it off and my 3 year old nephew could have given that horrible advice and it gets worse because she didnt take me seriously and blew me off i came home my dog had jumped out of her 4 fpot high play pen and my apartment was a nightmare and i find her with plastic sharp shards of plastic in her mouth from the tv remote. if she would have gotten seriously hurt and swallowed those shards id be going after aberdeen legally... im nevvvvver taking my dog back there ever again its a shame because of one really weak link (the phone answer lady) the dr. who actually works there is very good and knowledgeable and listens well and answers all your questions and cares. but not enough to make me or my friends and family to go back. read more
