I am thankful for Wright Animal Hospital as they were taking care of my 16 year old sheltie cattle. As in her later years she had developed a tumor between the webbing of her toes. I had an appointment to bring both cats in for checkups today. This is not my first visit. When I arrived I was informed my appointments were both cancelled. They use a software called PetDesk, which apparently cancelled the appointments. I don't have PetDesk, and I surely didn't cancel the appointments. No apologies. Not going back. We signed on with Wright shortly after moving to Illinois (five years ago). They are excellent, kind and caring. The front desk staff are wonderful -- I always feel like they truly care about my pets. The docs are great too. We usually see Dr. Eric, and he's gentle with the animals and nice to the parents too. I moved to Illinois a year ago and was worried about having my Chi get used to a new vet. I was a little anxious about getting my Chi under anesthesia but Dr. Kaczor and staff at this hospital were warm, friendly and informative. A few years our dog, Henry, was diagnosed and treated for lymphoma by Dr. Junkas. Our experience from start to finish was tremendous. Dr. Junkas was superb in both her expertise and her bedside manor. We have treated another dog for lymphoma elsewhere and let me say the service provided was not near as good as that provided at Wright. Fast forward a couple of years and a new dog, Ethan. Ethan has epilepsy and was recently diagnosed with lots of allergies. We are now working with Dr. Kaczor. What a remarkable doctor. Dr. Kramer should not be licensed. I brought my elderly cat in there because she was suffering from a pretty bad cold. At the time I was fostering two special needs kitties until they got a home, and I did believe that having them in the house stressed my kitty out and she got sick as a result due to a compromised immune system. Either way, she is a bit of a spitfire, so when I brought her in she was very upset. I told Dr. Kramer the situation and he IMMEDIATELY began to verbally attack me. He said, "You bring in these strange cats? Are you stupid? They could have herpes." When I tried to explain to him that they were being cared for by a woman in veterinary school and that she ensured me everything would be fine, he left the room and proceeded to call me stupid across the ENTIRE office where everyone could hear. I began crying so hard because I love my cats with all of my heart and anyone even suggesting that I would do anything to hurt them killed me. MEANWHILE THE POWER GOES OUT! Instead of rescheduling the appointment, they try to examine my already upset cat in the dark. She was biting a little, but nothing an experienced vet couldn't handle. Instead of muzzling her and finishing the examination like a professional, he throws his hands in the air and says, "I CANNOT DO THIS! SHE IS SO HORRIBLE!" and leaves the room. AND THEY STILL CHARGED ME OVER $90 FOR AN INCOMPLETE EXAMINATION IN THE DARK! Not to mention the man verbally harassed me and brought me to tears... We called the next day and requested a refund and he sent us a check for $45, the cost of the examination. He had little remorse and did not feel he did anything wrong. No compassion and cruel... Never take your animal to Dr. Kramer. read more

i've tried to figure out a way to write this review three or four times, but my brain ain't workin today, so I'll just go with bullet points: A) Dr. Drazner - no bedside manner, forced politeness, he'd only talk to me & refused to address my wife, feels dismissive. B) the majority of the staff is cheerful & welcoming, but there's one young girl there who's either seriously overworked or just can't handle the fast paced atmosphere of a vet because she's always curt. I wonder if she's Drazner's Kid? C) coming from the city it's relatively easy to get to. I'd still prefer a vet that's as good at relating to humans as they are at diagnosing animals. We've been going to Wright Animal Hospital for many, many years. We've always had great vets there. Dr. L. was our first vet. He was always professional and helpful. Later on they had a chance of management and ownership (if I recall correctly) and a new team came in, including Dr. Junkas. She is a model for the veterinary community. She's friendly and knowledgeable with amazing 'bedside' manner. She's cared through eight cats and two dogs (seven of which are with us now). She knows each one thoroughly and has taken fantastic care of them throughout the years. I can't imagine anyone better. They recently renovated both inside and out. The 70s white-plaster-of-Paris exterior is gone with a hipper-corrugated-metal exterior. The inside is clean, bright and open. The staff is also great. Highly recommended. read more

I would like to bring to everyone's attention a practice we've spotted at this vets office on the very second visit. My daughter took her puppy in for the regular check up and second round of vaccination. Pup is only 4 mo and had no issues but it is on a smaller side weight wise. After the initial visit vet suggested that the second vaccine is given with a week delay in order to spare the pup any unnecessary pain. First visit was over with this and one vaccine was given. Office visit right around $120 and change. My daughter comes in for the second vaccine a week later and she's handed her pup and another bill this time for $140 and change. She's looking over the bill and it all makes sense until she comes across ANOTER charge for the well exam. Mind you, in the situation like this with humans on the second visit nurse checks your temp and you're charged "nurse exam" at much lower rate but here they said (when questioned) that this is the law. We even spoke to the vet in the phone this was Sat, Sept 26th, and she was nasty and impolite. Kept acting as if it's OK to put hand in your pocket and kept saying how we don't care about the pup. No, I simply don't care about greedy and unethical people who are looking to steal at any chance they get. She told us not to call again as someone form the office will call us. Today they called, tried to say it's the law to charge that exam fee before the second vaccine. Once pressed hard woman (yes I know the difference between the woman and the lady) from their office admitted it's not a law but their practice to do so and they had no intention of refunding our money. Please be aware: when they offer to split vaccination of your puppy it's not because they care about the animal but they simply follow their own protocol of charging you extra. Simple. Vile. Fantastic vets and techs! We have two older, special needs pets. We've taken our cat to five different vets trying to diagnose her chronic vomiting. We've heard everything from hairballs to food allergies. Dr. Michl diagnosed and treated her for IBS and she has been the healthiest, happiest cat ever since, gaining weight from her 6.6 lbs at diagnosis to now a healthy 10 lbs. I will forever love Wright Animal Hospital for that alone! Wright also treats our elderly dog, who has a pinned hip, arthritis, and nerve issues, as well as difficulty walking and vision loss. The team, particularly Super Vet Tech Christian, are so gentle and loving with him that it eases his fear of vets and they have developed a treatment plan that has him as comfortable as he can be and helps us understand all of our options as he ages. This informed kindness is really the best thing you kind find in an animal hospital -- the best treatment possible for animals and great information and support for humans. Wright is great. Amazing!! I love the exotic vet she was so gentle with my two rats Bash and Dime! She knew what she was talking about and before seeing her filled out a survey on how I took care of them. She prescribed the two medications for their respiratory infection and it cleared up and they back to being healthy piglets. It is a four star review because I called to let them know that I was transferring records for my dog Athena since I loved the vet so much. The receptionist sounded as though I was wasting her time by calling and giving them a warning that the records are coming through. Love the vet and the environment! Dr. Junkas is just the best vet around, period. She has a wealth of knowledge. Where most vets stop, and say, there's nothing else to try... she always, always has something more to offer. My 15 year old Puggle has been treated by her for both chronic Rhinitis and Bronchitis for the past year now. Dr. Junkas was the only vet that I visited that felt confident in treating my dog with an inhaled steroid. She listens to you and is truly your partner in care. She always returns emails and calls promptly. And, even in the times of Covid, she always takes the time to speak to me in person about my furry family member. Our story started many years ago when place was kinda - shag with kitten foundling we found by road. We were customers when Dr. Junkas started working there and she was AWESOME!!! she attended out birds, she was an expert on hounds and anesthesia for them, she would be extremely kind, and she saved our dog, when she insisted on test I tried to refuse. All staff was just awesome and we knew how darn lucky we are to be part of this. Everyone would go above and beyond, being there even if that meant they stay longer. Things happened, and once unfortunately our dog died, there were things missed, but even though that does not guarantee he would things would do differently and anyway mistakes happen to every single person, I think we never complained about it, we took it pretty cool. As a matter of a fact, Dr. Junkas tried in her free time, over the holiday weekend and secured and emergency help for us back then. Unfortunately this all got affected when receptionist left. New replacement.. she would give an attitude. I showed up for an appointment for nails I called day before and received nasty attitude from new receptionist accusing me of lying. I took out phone and showed her phone call history, she still insisted I am liar. Next time when we had an appointment for our bird (we were going on for years with him) This new receptionist turned us away saying that Dr. Junkas (who were always taking care of our bird) is not doing birds, and it is only dr. so and so and we need to leave. Each time I would call, there was an attitude and issue. I had to have my husband called. (And yes, I started giving this person who was nasty to me and than turn and is super sweet and innocent with her boss). I was shocked when we were diplomatically told we have a choice to go elsewhere. I was pretty shocked I wont lie. And we were happy with the medical care and treatment by technicians and veterinarian. For me those years - it meant something and I thought we had great relationship. When you asked why we did not after this pick everything and stormed out. Thought trust me I thought of it. Yesterday we called to find out if we can bring our dog in as he developed quickly some growth that seemed infected. They tried to accommodate us. Which we appreciated, but as they seemed really busy we find walk in clinic near and took our doggie there. I called the Wright AH to let them know, that they don't have to stress about it, we took dog elsewhere, just to received evening phone call I can bring him in next day. Message did not get through. None of the ladies who picks a phone introduce themselves... messages gets in cracks... So I called today to let them know, I was decent person and called them to let them know yesterday we took our dog elsewhere. Person who pick up phone - did not introduce herself. Doctor is nice, technicians are awesome (if you get pass the reception.. ), but this reception thing - that unfortunately effects all. And I am not surprised to read now that other people here giving low stars due to issue they run into . But it truly is - with receptionist. (Some other lady was turned away with her bird in same manner year ago... I see nothing changed) seems that issue persist. Someone else described problem with his appointment... yep, yep.. I know, it is reception in my experience and opinion. But I see it as hopeless at this point, so yes, we will have to find service somewhere else as we were suggested, even after being customers since the wood shag times. read more

Dr. Fred Drazner at Wright Animal Hospital is the best!! We started seeing Dr. D 7 yrs ago when we got our puppy from a shelter. She had been misdiagnosed by a different animal hospital. We were told she had Bordatella. After 1 month of treatment, and she was still not better, in frustration I talked to my neighbor who recommended Dr. D. I made an appt and he saw Daisy the next day, this was a huge comfort to us also. Upon examination Dr. D said he thought she had pneumonia, but wanted to do a chest x-ray to make sure. He was absolutely correct! Her treatment began and she started improving immediately...THANKS TO DR DRAZNER. When Daisy was 3 he saved her life again, when she ingested something toxic in our back yard and went into Liver failure and nearly died. His quick and accurate diagnosis was correct, her treatment began and she got better. She became ill again a couple of years ago, and due to Dr. Drazner's keen ability to diagnose, he confirmed with a blood test that she had a condition called Addison's disease. Now with her monthly injection she is living a happy and healthy dogs life. Dr Drazner is not just a Dr of Veterinary Medicine, he is also a Dr of Veterinary Internal Medicine. He is very knowledgeable as a diagnostician, this is what saved Daisy's life several times. His extensive knowledge and credentials are important to us because we want the absolute best care available for them, especially when sick or faced with a life threatening illness. He has never let us down! In addition to all of Dr. Drazners professional skills, I want to say how incredibly, incredibly nice he is! Taking and making calls, responding to email, etc... to check on Daisy and Carmel (our other dog) even on his days off. This has been such a comfort to our family, and we could never thank Dr. D. enough for his dedication and devotion to caring for each and every animal as if they were his own!! I have 2 sisters that live in Arizona who at different times have called upon Dr Drazner for his knowledge when their pets have been ill and he has ALWAYS made time to take their frantic calls. I have a sister in Chicago, who had a very sick dog after she received a rabbis vaccination. I referred her to Dr. Drazner who made time to talk to her and review her dogs medical records. I could go on and on and on.....about how fantastic Dr. Drazner is. We started going to Wright when our 15 year old dog Bailey was diagnosed with cancer in December 2009. Our hopes were that she would be a candidate for surgery, followed up with possible chemotherapy. Unfortunately it was determined that the cancer was too far advanced. During the next month we were helped through some very rough times and hard decisions with the help from both Dr. Junkas and Dr. Kramer. The compassion they showed us during a very difficult time will never be forgotten! We came to W.A.H because of Bailey. We have continued to bring our other three dogs to see Dr, Junkas. I had to put my cat down today, which was devastating to me. The staff here was so kind, compassionate and helpful -- from the receptionist to the technicians to Dr. Luciano. It was our first time there and we were treated like they knew us and our cat. Dr. Luciano answered all our questions and we didn't feel rushed at all. The office is so warm and inviting too. This place has changed. Sure they spent tons of money renovating, but since being bought out by a corporation they seem money oriented. My it ten was very ill one day and I had no money, it was one day before payday, but they refused to see my bay without up front payment. I've been a client for years and my legs was truly sick. Luckily I found a vet who would bill me and I paid the bill the very next day. My kitty is fine no thanks to Wright. I think that Dr. Kramer ' s departure didn't help either. Oh, and their prices are now higher than most other vets in the area. Pretty sure we will be going to the other vet who put my kitten's health before money. read more

I've been going to Wright for 9 years now. I have two dogs under the care of Dr. Junkas and also take my brother-in-law's dog there too. I have never had a problem with the Dr.'s behaviors - they are no different than human doctors. Dr. Junkas is my favorite, she's been extremely patient with my younger golden who can be very shy. My older golden LOVES her! They have never tried to give me medicine my dogs don't need or upcharge for services not necessary. I am very happy to take my dogs there for their routine visits. I wish they had someone trained in canine chiropractic - as I have agility dogs so we go else where for that. The staff are super sweet and attentive and are always able to get us in for an appointment at a reasonable time. read more

The staff at Wright Animal Hospital are kind and considerate. I had called them a year and 1/2 ago about my sheltie, Jordan. He had been diagnosed with malignant tumor in his mouth. Dr. Drazner called me back within an hour and saw Jordan the following day. Due to Dr. Drazner and staff my dog is still alive and well today. I wouldn't bring my dog anywhere else! They truly care about the animals there. I've seen some reviews that said their bed side manner to humans isn't the best---I disagree--they are there to take care of your pet and not to pamper the owners. Over the past two months Dr. Achille took great care of our 9 year old dog, Rocky, who was diagnosed with cancer and eventually had to be put to sleep. Through it all Dr. Achille was outstanding. She took phone calls after hours, conducting additional testing, and providing consultations at no additional charge. Dr. Achille made a very difficult situation much easier for our dog and our family with her compassion and high quality care. I have taken 4 animals to this animal hospital over a span of 17 years. Dr. Bruce Kramer has been exceptional in his expertise, very warm and caring, and taken time to educate me about conditions and treatments in order to allow me to better participate in the care of my animals. I have recommended him to several friends who have also been extremely pleased with his knowledge and skill. He's gone out of his way for me too many times to recall. Dr. Drazner treated my Maine Coon cat for lymphoma and, thanks to him, my cat is doing well after three years. We have been extremely pleased with the evaluation, consultation, and effective treatment we have received on behalf of Dr. Drazner at the Wright Animal Hospital. I personally like his "to the point" manner and feel as if he is extremely knowledgeable in his practice of chemo meds/treatment. I have every confidence that we have made the right choice and am grateful to the recommendation of Dr .Drazner to move forward and treat our dog's lymphoma. Before meeting with him my husband and I were on the fence as to whether or not we wanted to put our dog through this. Thank God we did, her tumor was gone in two days following her first treatment and she is now in remission. I am grateful to Dr. Drazner who gave us the honest truth we needed in order to make this difficult and expensive decision. The rest of the staff is truly friendly - could not be more pleasant - and I feel surprisingly comfortable leaving my dog in their care for the entire day with an IV stuck in her paw. Every dog in the waiting room is suffering with cancer and their owner has come seeking the professional help of Dr. Drazner because he knows what he is doing. Customers travel from wide and far for his expertise. I know we did. I was referred by our vet clear out west in Aurora. I have been going to this place for the last 4 years with both my Cat and Dog. I have not had any experience with the other Vet's at this office, but I can tell you that Dr. Junkas is an amazing vet. I am sure if this is your first time visiting you can ask for her. My three year old dog who has issues with people, love the attention she gets from Dr. Junkas and the staff at Wright. Office visits are very affordable $45, and when it is time for those yearly shots, they only charge me for the shots, but still do a full checkup on both my dog and cat. They are very accommodating when I make next day appointments and the last time my dog had severe vomiting and diarrhea they worked with me over the phone so that I could get some sort of medication without forcing the dog to ride in the car for half an hour. I really like this place and recommend Dr. Junkas to all my family and friends. read more

It is still hard to talk about the loss of my baby Louie (6yr maltese) who hac passed about 10 months ago now. The biggest mistake I have ever made taking him to Dr. Junkus. I took my healthy dog to her for a teeth cleaning and he never came out alive. I can't explain the heartache and guilt I feel. I was supposed to protect him. I got a careless vet for the surgery. She had told me that she had an unexpected spay that day scheduled at the same time. I wish I would have listened to my instincts. The place is old,dirty, and outdated! read more

Dr. Drazner is one of only a few veterinary oncologists in the area. when my 8 year old lab kept coming up with malignant melanomas, he gave me a fair diagnosis, after tests, that he had no evidence of internal cancer, but he could go thru chemotherapy just in case. The treatment wasnt cheap, but affordable, and he lived 2 1/2 more years, melanomas are one of the most severe and fatal cancers, but it was worth the money, and the time, I am currently seeing him about a kidney problem with my 10 year old lab mix. read more

We were truly blessed to find Dr. Junkas five years ago. Riley, our schipperke, is now 15 years old, sweet, shy fella with a number of issues. Dr Junkas is the kindest, most understanding vet we have ever known; she is helping us deal with Riley's old age and numerous difficulties. I would recommend her to anyone. The staff has been very helpful as well and they are gentle with Riley for bloodwork, weight, etc. We highly recommend Wright. read more

My dog is difficult. She doesn't like people (especially men), children, other dogs, cats..well really anything that moves is the 'enemy'. She's a rescue and she was obviously not treated well early on (she's 10 years old and I adopted her at 1). I wanted a challenge. I wanted the dog that no one else did. She's 27lbs of cocker spaniel fury and I couldn't possibly love her more than I do. The team at Wright Animal is always so kind and patient with her. I have to bring her in muzzled, I usually have the very first appointment of the day as to avoid other patients and I often leave with her out the back door as to avoid the waiting area....I can only imagine that when I call an alarm sounds and it means Honey is coming, but you would never know that from their smiles (even after she's pooped all over their floor). Dr. Junkas is amazing and there's NO one else I would trust with the care of my family member. You can tell that this group truly cares about animals and their guardians. I appreciate you all so much and if it was possible I would be giving you more stars!! read more
