I came here last night with my very senior dog Sasha, because she'd been having persistent GI issues that were pretty severe for her. I called ahead of time to check on pricing for the exam, etc., and one of the Vets answered and was so kind and patient while I explained what was going on. She reassured me they would walk me through a treatment plan we could handle after I brought her in. When I got there, I was met with the warmest, kind, helpful energy from every single person who worked there. From the person who did our intake, to the techs who did her initial vitals and administered her IV later on, (and cleaned up her mess on the way out - TY) to the Vet herself, I felt more than comfortable that they had my girls best interest in mind but were also realistic with what I could spend and how far we wanted to go with her care considering that she's 15.5 years old. After the vet examined her, I was sent a quote via email I could approve via my phone, and while I paid cash, they have an instant link you can pay for your services via credit card through email as well, which I found amazingly efficient and made what I was spending and what was included crystal clear so there was no anxiety about hidden costs. (I also found this place to be INCREDIBLY reasonable in their pricing compared to the other Vets I've gone to in the city). Special shoutout to the tech with the amazing mustache and the woman who administered her IV.... He was down on the floor, with my pup's head in his lap, petting her and saying the sweetest, most reassuring things while the other tech also just gave her such praise that we got some little exhausted tail wags out of her during what couldn't have been a comfortable process. It was just what we both needed in that moment, so thank you both so, so much. I was calm but pretty emotional, and I just felt safe coming here and would 100% come here again if needed, and recommend that anyone facing something like this with their fur baby come here too. The entire experience was quick, efficient, and again.... the kindness and genuine love they showed my baby was all I needed to know to feel comforted during a stressful moment. Happy to report the treatment she received has dramatically improved her condition in just a day, so overall it was a 10/10 experience. read more

Well unfortunately our dog needed emergency care, but fortunately we received excellent care again at VEG. Similar to our previous experience we were greeted the moment we walked in and the vet techs and nurse were so calm and empathetic. They not only treated our little cockapoo with compassion, but as too! They explained everything to us throughout the process. I wanted to write this to express how very greatfull we are to the doctor and staff on duty the night of august 22 2026 our beloved Mac had cancer and only had a few months to live . that night he woke us up around midnight and wasn't doin well we rushed him over the Schaumburg veg and the doctor and staff took such care of him and treated him so well unfortunately it was his time and he went peacefully and the staff made our final moments with Mac very special . It isn't easy writing this but I received a card from them today with everyone's sympathy telling us how sorry they were ...I wanted other people to know that this is a great hospital with people that really care about what they do . thank you VEG from the Meucci family we will always remember the care and comfort you gave to our gentle giant MAC read more

Sadly I had to take my geriatric cat in for what I thought was renal failure, which didnt make sense as I just had bloodwork done on him 2 weeks ago, which showed he didnt have any kidney issues. Antibiotics seemed to have cleared symptoms of his URI but he was still noticeably going downhill... these guys jumped into action and it was heartening to see an episode of Grey's Anatomy... Animal Hospital, even in this sad occasion. He was paralyzed and could just meow pitifully as it seemed he was cause pain by movement. Macchiatto's ultrasound showed a liver mass and fluid, likely cancer and considering his health conditions and quality of health... the decision, based on survival likelihood and current quality of life, was humane euthanasia. Sedative and then chemical agent while in an incubation pod for warmth with an IV that also carried in these drugs... much better than at a vet where past cats I have held that passed with less peace. It was a good experience for a bad situation and I appreciated the kindness and sympathetic care for Macchi in his last moments. read more

I really wish I didn't have a reason to write this review. Seriously, I'd rather have my dog back in my family's life and be blissfully ignorant about VEG and the caring, professional, skilled and empathetic team there. Our dog, Riley was getting old, and we had worked with our local vet to help her painful joints, her sensitive stomach, but when she developed something different, the vet suspected congenital heart failure. It could be managed, through medication and oversight, but on Sunday morning she was so much worse. Her sides were bloated. We called VEG, and they told us to come immediately - they would take her right away. We got there and the team saw us coming. They opened the doors, took us immediately to a table and performed an assessment. The fluid was all over, pressing her lungs and her heart. She only had hours. They put her in an oxygen crate, and before I could blink, whipped two chairs into place so we could sit "with" her. They flew back with tissues (for obvious reasons) and water. They told us the likely progression and how little time we really had. They would keep her going until the kids could arrive to say goodbye. They gave us a room to stay with her. They got all paperwork out of the way, so when everything was over we wouldn't have to speak to anyone. They gave us all the space we needed. Sarah saw the most vulnerable was my daughter and consoled her, asking if she wanted clipped lockets of hair and how much. It was all a blur. I can't remember all the names, just their kindness and caring. The doctor took us through the steps, explaining she would fall asleep before her heart was stopped. She stayed with us to the end, and then again gave us time and space to grieve. Honestly, I hope I never see them again. I hope you don't either, dear reader. But if your pet, or my other furry kid, Cooper, needs to see an ER Vet I wouldn't go anywhere else. I've been to several others in the past, and they cannot compare. The staff knew what they were doing and swung quickly into action, while maintaining empathy and kindness the whole time. I really, really hope I never see you again, but I would never go anywhere else. read more

I brought in my black GSD, Apollo, because I was concerned about some unusual behavior he'd been showing. I was worried not only about him, but also that the staff might be hesitant or uncomfortable handling him without taking extra precautions. Thankfully, it was the complete opposite. Dr. Greg Chernok and his team were fantastic with Apollo. They handled him with such care and confidence that he actually became comfortable enough to trust them--something I didn't expect at all. I really appreciated how well they were able to read the situation and avoid adding to his anxiety. It was clear they knew exactly how to approach him in a calm and reassuring way. Their professionalism and compassion immediately put me at ease and made me feel confident that Apollo was in good hands. They also took the time to clearly explain everything that was happening, which helped ease my own worries. We have come here twice with our rats. It's really hard to find an emergency vet with knowledge of these little critters, but Dr. Hayward (and the entire staff) is absolutely wonderful. They are so personable, kind, and truly go the extra mile for each and every pet. You can tell their hearts are in their work. The setup is so easy. You can call and talk to the doctor before coming in, and they will send a text link to check in on your phone. Once you arrive they triage and then you get a very cozy and clean room. Everything here is immaculately clean as well. Dr. Hayward is truly a gem with incredible bedside manner. My rat loved her, too! After talking everything over you will get an estimate sent to your phone to review and accept. You can obviously choose not to go the suggested route, no one here is pushy at all. Treatment is done as quickly as you can expect at an emergency vet, so we were grateful. After discharge, and without me needing to ask, they emailed the visit documents to both me and our primary vet so they could follow up. We are very appreciative ! read more

Our cat, suffering with lymphoma, had a seizure. We called while we were on the way, they sent a link to check in, and when we got there they were opening the front door, Dr and a couple of nurses started assessing him right away. We were out on a Sunday drive when our little 13lb terrier mix cried out in pain after he moved to look at the driver. We immediately stopped the car - when he jumped out he cried in pain again - omg - we immediately took him to VEG. We were immediately welcomed and he started getting checked out while we were checking in- amazing, too, was the open floor plan. They drew blood, did a physical check, recommended X-rays (which they did immediately). Amazing service. While not cheap it was within my expectations! Our little guy went home with 2 meds and strict rules to prevent exercise or stair-climbing- literally we were there less than an hour! Absolutely professional- loving- and our little guy (who normally shakes like crazy at a veterinarian's office) was calm and collected. Wow! We'd recommend them - fast efficient service! Nice.
