I had an appointment for my two German shepherds. One to get a pain medication shot and another for an evaluation. I called in advance to check what would be best with the hospital as my dogs are anxious when they are together, I suggested we can keep one in the car (we have done this before) and only bring in the one that is getting evaluated. They said to bring the both inside. I'm holding the dogs by myself trying to get inside as I'm struggling with the doors the front desk girls are just staring at me. No one moved an inch to try and help. Once I'm finally inside as they see me struggling to get my dogs to sit still they tell me to weigh my dogs MYSELF!! I look at them dumbfounded with both dogs in my hands saying I don't know how to do that. It was then a technician came over to help. They then had issues with my dogs whining saying I shouldn't have had brought both dogs in. On a separate occasion, my mom comes in for an appointment and the dr says to my mom is your dog gonna stop barking. Very rude to say when our dog is in pain and she was just there to see what was wrong. read more

Very warm and welcoming staff! My mom's dog was treated kindly. The staff speaks Polish, which was really helpful for my parents. The doctor is an honest person. I highly recommend this place. I came in with my french bulldog, they trimmed my dogs nails way too short and tossed her aside like garbage. She was shaking super hard and everyday, she keeps shaking and shaking because it hurts her so badly. It couldve been MUCH better. While Dr. Koch is a decent service provider, there seems to be a lack of consistency in his staff's work ethic, so you may want to check that they're doing their job. Upon leaving my kittens' last appt., I scheduled another one with the receptionist to get them sterilized and a 2nd round of vaccines. Come morning of that appt., I called them to see if there was availability to bring my elderly cat in for his yearly shots at the same time. The receptionist asked for my info and then proceeded to tell me they have no record of my appt. I wouldn't have been so upset if it wasn't for the fact that I not only wasted my vacation hours for nothing, but I also lost out on day's worth of pay, which has a lot of weight in this economy. To top it off, the receptionist did not apologize, but instead repeated that they wouldn't have scheduled a sterilization appt. after 8 am--as if to imply that I merely imagined booking the appt. Note to Management: Mistakes happen, but to make out a customer a liar or meet them with the idea that their screws are loose is not a mistake; that's blatant disrespect. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I went here with my dog who had an unusual growth on his leg. The vet didn't seem concerned and supposedly took a fluid sample. I was told to keep an eye on it. The lump kept growing and I went to another vet. When they consulted Arnett, they were told nothing on the leg was tested and sent some sort of chest tap results. My dog had cancer in his leg. Thank God I got a second opinion. This doctor and this practice missed cancer due to negligence. My pet would have died if I took this quacks word that it was "fatty spot." There are many good practices but this is not one of them. read more

Mr. Koc saw my dog total of 3 times. I can understand not knowing anything about the patient the first time he asked for his age and diagnosis, but two subsequent visits he still asked what's wrong with the dog and how old he is. It really doesn't take that long to look at the chart for the name, age and diagnosis of the animal that you are going to see. And why is it that Mr. Koc considers dogs over 12 years old at the end of their useful life? So I have to agree with other reviewers who were angry at Mr. Koc for not treating their animals as veterinarian would. But what I want to warn others about is this: I unethical practice described by another person. Mr. Koc kept saying that my dog is old and while displaying sadness and speaking in soft tone (which no doubt could be taken for compassion) jabbed my dog with something to ease his pain. WITHOUT CONSULTING WITH ME OR OBTAINING CONSENT!!! That jab was a shot of narcotic, as he told me, something to relax my dog, exept it killed my dog. Yes, my dog died after receiving a "pain medication" from the owner of Arnett Animal Hospital. Mr. Koc does not charge much for his services and that is why people go there. But I must say, you arrive in half dead shopping center where parking lot looks like it got bombed and wholes are abundant, so that should be your clue. I should have been smarter to head another warning: when I first got there and told him where I go for my dog's surgeries, he shook his had and sad negative things about his own colleague, a vet Dr. Rudawski at Fox Lake AH, who performed on and saved my dogs' life twice! What kind of a person badmouth a colleague? What kind of person gives shots to an animal arbitralily? I am heartbroken and hope that you consider going to Companion AH down the street instead. read more

Dr Koc really cares about your pet and treats conservatively. I love that he is fair with his prices and does not recommend unnecessary treatments. Our puggle had a stroke and under his care he had a full recovery at 12 years old. We are beyond grateful to Dr Koc. We recommend him to everyone! read more

I love Dr. Koc and so does my kitty :) I first visited Arnett Animal Hospital when I adopted my rescue cat when she was 2 years old. When she got sick last year, he diagnosed her without doing any expensive and unnecessary tests, got her the medicine she needed, and recommended a change of diet. She has not gotten sick since (she used to have frequent uti problems). He is very sweet and gentle in dealing with scared kitties. My mom also takes her 2 rescue dogs to Dr. Koc and has always told me that he really loves and cares about the animals, and also understands that a lot of people can't afford really expensive vet care. I highly recommend this place! read more

My family has been bringing our dogs here since 2010 or so. Dr. Koc was able to explain why our dog was behaving strangely, and fixed the problem (he had to have his anal glands cleaned). Dr. Koc also fixed the problem of our older dog having ear infections frequently (it was a breed thing that could be taken care of). We appreciate his reluctance to put dogs on unnecessary medication. He considers all other options first. I can tell that Dr. Koc and his assistant really care about their patients. My dogs don't like leaving the neighborhood, let alone going to the vet, but we knew that Dr. Koc would do everything in his power to help them when they were sick. The drive is worth it. read more

I agree with the first comment - completely compassionate man who (I might add) saved my dog at his first appointment. I had visited two vets prior to meeting Dr. Koc and they had my dog sedated because they could not diagnose it's pain. As it turns out, Dr. Koc diagnosed it as diabetic within minutes. My dog looks better every day and obviously feels much better too! I am also impressed that there are still genuine veterinarians who are willing to take the time with a pet rather than prescribing every shot in the book (for profit). My dad took his dogs to this vet for a number of years before our dog Misiu was misdiagnosed there. Our beloved dog had mouth cancer and this vet is trying to tell us its a tooth problem, we took him in for a visit and this vet is like pounding on our dogs teeth and our dog was crying, it was awful. It wasnt until we found Dr. Chirs at Rising Sun in Des Plaines that we got a true diagnosis. After we go the diagnosis of mouth cancer we called this vet to let him know, he had no compasion at all. They must have took the wrong weight and over dosed her with some medication and she died the next day. She couldnt walk or anything. Was going to take this doctor to court but realized it probably wouldve been a waste of time and i wouldnt get my kitty back. She was young as well. About 10 years old. Do not trust this Vet at all. I have been a client of Dr Koc since they opened. From the adorable cats that frequent the desk, to the very intelligent front desk girl, I've never had a problem. I have called the vet on numerous times after hours and he's always walked me through any problems my dog or cat was having. He EVEN came into the office once on Sunday because my cat had been throwing up all night. I've NEVER had a vet this compassionate who was willing to give up a day off (they're only day closed is Sunday) to make sure that my 21 year old cat was going to be okay. I've recommended Dr. Koc to all my friends and they are very happy clients. I dint know what Anna. M below was talking about, this vet is exceptional. My dog used to hate the vet because of past horrible experiences at Banfield, but at Dr. Koc WILLINGLY jumps on the scale and practically begs for his attention before he even gets a chance to ask how she is doing! Best vet in the area, I used to live in Roselle and would drive all the way up to Wheeling just to see him! If your looking for a great vet, a person that obviously loves his job, and truly cares for animals you've found the perfect vet!! Unlike the previous review, I have had nothing but great experiences with Dr Koc at Arnett Animal Hospital. We had been taking our animals (3 Labradors and 3 cats) to another veterinarian who had moved their business. We did some research and, at the suggestion of many friends, started to take our animals to Arnett. I have been bringing my dog here for 12 years, at the recommendation of another vet, even though it is an hour drive for us. He saved my dogs life once when he was younger and now that my dog is 13 and having issues he is doing an amazing job of helping us take care of him. This vet was recommended to me by two other dog owners, so I began taking my new puppy to Dr. Koc at 10 weeks old. I was initially impressed. The vet and staff are very friendly, the clinic is clean, and the prices are average for the area, but my opinion changed when Dr. Koc misdiagnosed and mismanaged the treatment of my puppy. At 6 months old, I took my puppy back to Dr. Koc due to chronic soft stool/diarrhea and gas. Dr. Koc administered an antibiotic shot, and gave me probiotics to take home. My puppy showed no improvement. I returned, and this time he recommended Hill's I/D prescription dog food (no diagnostic test were run.) My puppy's stool seemed to firm up a little, but he was still having consistently soft stool. The vet told me just to be patient and keep him on the prescription food. Three weeks later my puppy vomited, and we found round worms in his vomit. It was then that I began to realize that Dr. Koc had made a mistake, he had not checked my puppy for worms and parasites when I had brought my puppy in several weeks prior. His symptoms were consistent for a dog with worms/parasites, and he had not tested my puppy for worms! After two rounds of Drontal to kill the round worms, my puppy's poop remained soft. A few days after his second dose of dewormer, my puppy developed mucus in his stool and stopped eating. I brought him back to Dr. Koc, who again gave my puupy another shot of antibiotics. Again, this treatment did nothing. I took him back a few days later, reported that their had been no improvement and Dr. Koc had me buy more probiotics. Twice this vet tried the same approach, and twice I paid for something that yielded no results. During our final conversation, he told me my puppy wasn't eating because I had trained him that he didn't have to eat when I put the food bowl down. He gave no explanation for the mucus. I knew my puppy was in decline from a physical ailment, not a behavioral problem. So, I took my puppy to a different vet for a second opinion. As nice as Dr. Koc and the staff are, he mismanaged the diagnosis and treatment of our puppy, and we will not be returning to Arnett Animal Hospital. read more

I took our dog here for his annual check up. the vet and vet tech were very nice and gentle with my dog and seemed to really care about how he felt, trying to make him comfortable. that's about all i can say for positives. i took him back a few months later due to respiratory distress- tachypnea, shallow breathing. the vet said it was probably some sort of respiratory virus, prescribed antibiotics and said if he should be better in a week. he didnt get better so i called again and he said it was most likely due to his bad teeth and gums, which he did have and i was planning on getting them cleaned at some point. they kept giving reasons as to why he wasnt better but he continued to have respiratory distress. i got a 2nd opinion and the other vet immediately found a large mass in his belly, cancer. if i kept going to this vet i wouldve kept getting excuses as to why my dog was deteriorating without any answers. i was shocked that a vet with so many years of experience would miss a large mass in my dog's abdomen at the 2 check ups i took him to. I'm glad I went to Randhurst Animal Hospital to get a second opinion for acutal answers. read more

Please do not take your dog here. I honestly believe this vet does not know what he is doing. Says one thing then does another, made us feel very uneasy. Our rescue was diagnosed with heart worm and the doctor kept giving us excuses for treatment and took very long to get back to us. Showed no compassion or optimism for helping us and our puppy. I would like to see this mans vet license. We ended up taking our dog to another animal clinic in Jefferson park where they were amazing. The vet explained everything to us about treatment for our puppy and was so kind and loving. Do yourself a favor and don't go here if you want the best service for your dog. read more

We've been taking our 2 dogs to Dr. Koc for about 2 years. He is very patient with our adopted shelter dog who is fearful of vets. He gives her time to settle down before he examines her, and she is getting better with each visit. We received poor advise from a previous vet about how to care for our dog's ear problems, and now he is doing much better. Dr. Koc is absolutely amazing. We took our dog in about two months ago for a teeth cleaning. It turned out he needed teeth extracted and had an infection in his gums. Poor dog. But Dr. Koc eased our nerves and was so kind to my dog. He explained the whole procedure to us and it all came out to a very fair price.I would absolutely recommend going to Dr. Koc with your beloved pets. I am very disappointed with the service I've received. Dr. Koc had been a vet for my dog since he was a puppy and on the beginning I liked him because he looked like he loves animals, was very kind to my puppy and the charges looked reasonable. But when my puppy started to have dermatological and diarrhea problems, I had a feeling that dr. Koc overlooked those problems, gave him a steroid shot (without acknowledging me ahead) and said he'll be fine. It got worse after a couple of days and so I went to different clinic where they diagnosed and treated my dog thoroughly. But my distrust was completed a couple days ago. My dog kept vomiting, had very strong diarrhea and would lay down and cry...I rushed him to dr. Koc since he was closer than the other clinic. dr. Koc checked him, made X-rays and saw nothing. He told me the intestines were clean, his only concern is a larger stomach. He gave my dog liquids and sent me home with an advice to come back in the evening to repeat the procedure and we would see. My dog kept crying in my car and after my friend recommended a specialized clinic in Buffalo Grove, I went there. They surprised me with exceptional care, did an ultrasound (which they said is much better than x-rays) and found out my doggie had something stuck in his intestines and required immediate surgery. After this I called dr. Koc and asked him for at least a discount since I spent a lot of money at his office and in the end he didn't help my dog at all. Dr. Koc refused. I like people who can admit their mistakes. He could at least advice me to find a place with ultrasound since he couldn't see anything on x-rays...For sure this is the last time me or my friends used his service. read more
