    Appointment request.

I can not truly comment on how they are with the animals as I was never contacted back in regards to an appointment. My feeling is that if you office can't even do a simple thing like reply to an appointment request I doubt I can trust you with my animal. I requested an appointment on June 9th via their website and am still waiting!

Decline or prepare to defend yourself against lectures and dismissal ! When My Neighborhood Vet couldn't fit my sick dog in for two weeks, I desperately called other vets for an appointment. After speaking with Mari, my dog was seen by Dr. Sue and put on meds to control diarrhea. During the exam, my female dog was constantly referred to as "he." The receipt showed her color as "fawn" - she is black. I was given a "Puppy Packet" during the exam, the vet then showed me, at length, different pet-related services she has financial arrangements with. I didn't appreciate my time being wasted with marketing ventures. The packet contained at least 1/3 of a paper ream, when everyone's on a smartphone. My attempts to get her to stop explaining the services were futile. After the visit, I received an email survey. I'd formed an opinion and decided to wait until after a few more visits to see if anything changed. After a fecal drop off, I received a call to "pay my outstanding bill" (under $70) and told the office manager wanted to speak to me (weird, she had my phone and email...), from which I deduced she had a problem with my survey answers. I did not call, figuring her fingers work as well as mine. Our next visit, my dog was announced via intercom, which wasn't usual. When paying, I felt a presence behind me: Mari, waiting to nab me. She took me to a room and proceeded to vent about how mean I was to her staff and how she'd never had such a petty review. My review mentioned: desk staff does not make you feel welcome, perhaps because they are all young and don't know how to treat clients. My dog was constantly referred to as "he" by the vet and identified incorrectly in their system. I did not appreciate the giant info packet that wasted trees, etc. Mari explained the paper away by saying "elderly people often don't know how to use the internet" ... ageist! She had the temerity to scold me for not thanking her for getting me an appointment (apparently she did not remember the many times I said "thanks for getting us in" during our phone calls). She claimed I made staff uncomfortable and they were "afraid" of me because they saw my survey answers. She said she'd never heard staff acting unfriendly. Exactly my point: staff didn't greet me, that's why you didn't hear them. When people take money for a service rendered, they should thank patrons for choosing their business! I was never mean to staff, they barely interacted with me. A correct response to receiving valid complaints is to say you will work on the issues, not explain them away, shush and school me on how to have an adult conversation by "taking turns speaking" and you are the one speaking now. It confirmed my opinion of TLC doing things their way or the highway. No "The Customer is Always Right." If Mari was my employee and I caught her berating a client like they were a kid in the assistant principle's office, I'd fire her ASAP. When I left and looked at my receipt, my dog was STILL incorrectly identified as "fawn." If TLC can't correct small things, what about bigger things?! IMHO, many Yelpers leave honest reviews. Apparently, Dr. Sue has given Mari responsibility for booting clients she doesn't like. This previous reviewer was accurate: 7/7/2019 Not happy at all dr sue is not a friendly vet an if you don't agree with her she has a attitude towards you for as long as you go there. She picks an choses who she likes. Office staff very unfriendly an no helpful at all. Its all about the money with this place At no time did Dr. Sue contact me. This is a practice where clients are not allowed to have an opinion yet one where they believe your dogs can "speak" to you (see photo). P.S. Beware of upcharging! Phone quotes were lower than actual prices. TLC invoiced a bio-hazard fee to EVERY fecal and vaccination. Disposal should be absorbed by the practice, not be another way to extract money from clients. Eg: I walk dogs for a living. I handle poo daily. I don't charge clients for poop bags, they are part of my business expenses.

Well, after the way I was treated by the staff after bringing my Lola and my Marion in for emergency treatment, I found a new vet (who I and my animals LOVED). My pets were all rescues. My Lola was quiet and reserved because of her previous home life (she was abused and not treated well). One day I noticed she was not herself and I called to get her in as she was having trouble breathing. The receptionist pretty much talked down to me and was the rudest lady I have ever spoken to. She was blaming me for Lola developing a random illness that she showed NO SIGNS PREVIOUSLY of nor was she acting off at any point prior. She pretty much blamed me for Lola passing away (which by the way, she was almost 7 years old and I got her when she was 3 months old). I should have switched vets after that, but my other piggy Marion (she was 8), was acting aggressive and seemed in pain one day. Marion was the sweetest baby so for her to be aggressive in anyway was not normal. She was also a chunky monkey anyway so she was always bigger or looked bigger in size. I took her in and she had the worst case of bloat anyone had ever seen. Again I want to reiterate that she was acting otherwise completely normal (eating, drinking, using the bathroom, resting). It was her personality that got me worried. I once again was blamed by the receptionist at the vet for her being in pain and was looked at like I was neglecting her and that it was my fault that she had bloat. I GOT HER WHEN SHE WAS 6-8 MONTHS OLD. SHE WAS 8! After she was put on a gas medication, she lost SO MUCH weight and was no longer wanting her food. I called this vet back and it was the receptionist being a total uncaring jerk that caused me to find a new vet in the matter of 15 minutes. My new vet wanted Marion's X-ray and records (THAT I PAID FOR BY THE WAY), and the jerk receptionist at Niles would not send them. Marion was an emergency case and we could not wait for the receptionist to take her sweet time and send them "when and if she felt like it." I had to pay twice to have all of the same tests and X-rays done. I ended up having to put Marion down because she was so sick. I got a card in the mail from Niles about 6-8 months after I put Marion down saying "we are sorry for your loss" I was so upset because your office BLAMED ME for her being sick and considered me a neglectful owner but you all sent me a sympathy card 6-8 months after I lost my best friend. I will NEVER bring ANY pet here and I tell all my friends and coworkers who are looking for a vet to avoid you all at all costs. You should be ashamed of your receptionist who was an old cranky woman because no one should be blamed for their pet getting sick or passing away. I already was beside myself that my guinea pigs were not well and for me to be blamed like that, it made me feel worse. Shame on you all. I've added pictures of my babies who you all pushed a narrative about "them being neglected" Lola never laid outside her hide when I first got her and it took years and years of patience and love to see her lay like a pancake in her cage. Marion is the one who had bloat. DO THESE BABIES LOOK NEGLECTED?!!! They were very loved and are missed more than anyone can understand. My new vet loved Marion (I wish I brought Lola there too).

In the last month we have spent over $1,000 in vet services and medications for our dog. Follow-up calls to provide test results have been made by vet technicians who cannot answer any questions. We were recently told that vets only return calls related to test results if they are very concerning. In the next breath the tech said our dog needed more tests, including an ultrasound, without being able to answer the basic question as to why. We really miss Dr. Sakas and the other vets and staff in the past. Would not recommend them now.

I raised the possibility with her two times over the course of a couple months--both because his lab values were high and the dose seemed high (higher than what I take as a human). She finally admitted she screwed up and he was indeed WAY over medicated. We had bought the medication from them and had spent hundreds of dollars trying to dial in a dose that could never work. They offered to refund me ONLY if I signed a NON DISCLOSURE AGREEMENT. They don't want me sharing what happened with anyone. Someone from the corporate office even called and asked me to consider what this could do to the vets career if I shared my story!!!!!! What about my cat and all of our pets? I believe I have a duty as an animal lover to say what happened, even if it means they won't refund me. So now I'm left to handle this in small claim's court and I found a new vet who will hopefully care more about my pet's health. I chose a private practice and not a corporate one, that's for sure.
