I called Ace to inquire on their availability, left a voicemail, and they got back with me promptly. I spoke with Jim, who asked that I email him a photo of my gate entrance and some measurements. I did so and he then followed up with an on-site visit. He took some additional measurements and we discussed some ornamental details that might be unique to my yard. Later that evening, he sent me a sketch of the proposed iron-gate with intricate details, just as we had discussed, and an estimate. He even proposed installation within about 5 weeks. I thought the price was reasonable. Everything went according to plan. My backyard has been enhanced with a beautiful garden gate. It allows for additional light and even a breeze that had been absent. On a sunny day, a shadow of the gate is cast upon the ground, revealing the beauty of the lines and shapes of the design, as if it were etched into the surface. We met with Christine who was uncommonly knowledgeable, give us a ton of tips and things to consider, as well as let us look through the samples and talk amongst out selves. From there, we went home with a few different samples of LVP and carpet to better understand how each out actually look within the space. Once we decided on the materials, we worked with Jordan on scheduling and installation. The team at Long's are true professionals. Communication on delivery and installation was perfect too. I didn't need to be at the home for material drop off or installation, which made my life so much easier. From there, everything was finished in about 2-3 business days and the work looks phenomenal. Updated Homeowners Tale with a Warning (He even asked me for a review!)…read more l hired Dan Webster (Dog and Dan, North Bend) to paint a newly constructed shed beginning July 15. The shed is partially constructed with OSB, T-1-11 paneling and LP lap siding all of which are susceptible to severe water damage if not painted properly. I stressed to Dan the importance of complete coverage to protect this $10k shed, including spraying all accessible surfaces and back brushing. Dan responded: "of course" in a tone that said he didn't need me to tell him his business. I even paid to add a second exterior coat, two coats would be more protection. Dan knew complete coverage of the exterior was required for the warranty. He had trouble figuring out how to use his new equipment and finished on July 23. It was getting close to dusk. He said he would return the next week to fix overspray issues and to finish painting trim. We bagged garbage; he left it for me to dispose. He promptly asked me for a review. Early Aug I prepared to submit warranty documents with photos documenting the paint/caulk. Close inspection revealed Dan had not painted the bottom edge of the T-1--11 panels, or the underside of the four OSB doors, he missed segments of the bottom edge of the lap siding at a level from hip level down and did not caulk the windows. (I have photos documenting the issues.) I thought it best to discuss in person the areas that were missed; so I waited for him to respond to calls and texts. I waited patiently, but did not hear from Dan. Finally, on Sept 4 I reached him by phone and asked about his schedule. Despite knowing he had work to complete, his response was jarring: "I'm doing you a favor to even get you on my schedule" (direct quote) September came and it rained steadily for a week. Scary! Water ran down the siding following the contour of the lap inward and wetting the bottom edge of the lap. The bottom edge of the OSB is also wet - in many places unpainted and unprotected. Dan finally showed up on Sept 25 (2 months late) with a small paintbrush. Despite heavy rain during the day, he was prepared to paint only the bottom raw edge of the T-1-11 and the bottom raw edge of the lowest run of siding in the rain with the material WET. I showed Dan unpainted areas; he denies the problem exists. Dan claims I am seeing BEHIND the lap siding, which is IMPOSSIBLE since it is nailed tightly one run above another. Since the exterior is dark red the unpainted areas are quite visible, photos document the problems. I suggested he should have sprayed/brushed the bottom edge, he LAUGHS. Rather than fix his mistake, he denies the mistake. He was paid fully in cash in July. Clearly, I am no longer in his revenue stream so I am no longer important. While working in July, Dan made a point of telling me that since this is his business he wants to decline work and do only what he wants to do. He complained about how much he dislikes doing handyman work for a local real estate company. He doesn't like to be bossed around. "He's the boss." I treated him respectfully, I paid cash promptly, I fed him, I helped clean up his mess AND he told me I was the type of client he likes to work with. I would hate to be the real estate lady he doesn't like working with. Due to Dan's poor performance and delay, I am forced to hire a professional painter to re-paint my shed before the October rain destroys it. Dan left me with an expensive and worrisome problem.

One even gave us a quote and when I called to book the job, they never called back. We found Steve's website online and he called us back within a day, was out to do the quote with in a few days after that and started the job within about a week! He was prompt, professional and not afraid of technology (I.e he knew how to respond via email--which was great because then we didn't play phone tag.) He used quality lumber from a local company, got the job done on time and delivered high quality work. His quote was just a bit less than other quotes (yea!), but generally all the quotes we got were in the same ballpark. So it was really his promptness, communication and professionalism that sold us. The site was clean and orderly after they left and we came home to a beautiful cedar fence. I especially like the gate design. If we ever re-do our deck or extend the fence line, Cedar River will be our first call. I'd recommend Steve's work to anyone!

When we raised the issue, they initially denied installing that particular post. After we provided clear photographic evidence proving otherwise, they stopped responding and have ignored our repeated messages ever since. The workmanship was disappointing, but their refusal to address a legitimate problem was even more concerning. In our experience, this is not a company that takes responsibility when something goes wrong. We also found information on the BBB website stating that the company had not obtained a necessary license from the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries. Prospective customers may want to verify the contractor's licensing status themselves before hiring them.
