Our project was the installation of an 8' x 11' elevated attached deck. I had whittled my initial list of contractors down to six before choosing All Decks. Cost was competitive but was not the lowest bid. This was the third deck in this location. The previous two were wood. This time we chose to have a composite deck installed, to not have a stairway, and to have the area underneath the deck protected from rain. As this was an elevated deck, it was covered by municipal code requirements more stringent than when the previous two decks were built. We worked with Adam during our initial contact, and in designing the deck. We chose Dekorator planking, Trex handrails, and the Trex RainEscape system. We wanted to minimize supporting posts, as a competing bid would have used 6 posts, and we had seen decks on houses like ours that had 5 to 6 posts. All Decks was able to use only 2 posts by having larger-size (6"x6") posts and by attaching one side of the deck to our cantilevered 2nd floor. The All Decks showroom was extremely helpful in choosing materials and colors, and in evaluating the RainEscape system relative to alternative underdeck rain coverings. Kendall did thorough work when he visited to do the detailed yard survey required by code. The level of detail in the resulting documents was unexpected and illuminating. The three-man team led by Chris who put up the deck was professional and unobtrusive. A special challenge was attaching one side of the deck to our cantilevered 2nd floor as the current municipal code requires an exceptionally robust connection. Installing this connection required removing several plank-and-tongue grooves from under the overhang of the cantilevered 2nd floor, which is very difficult without causing damage. I was skeptical that it could be done and was pleasantly surprised to see the excellent appearance of the re-installed planking. (As expected, I repainted the reinstalled planks myself.) As for the steel-bar-reinforced concrete footings, Chris meticulously set their height so as to enable the potential future installation of a ground-level deck made from pavers. The gentleman who delivered and picked up materials and the portable toilet was discreet and careful. Crystle ensured smooth communications for scheduling, billing, etc. We are very satisfied with the All Decks team and their work.

They were affordable, knowledgeable, and very willing to work with my needs and my budget. They were able to obtain the permits that were needed which is an important and valuable service. They also took care of the structural engineering that was needed to make sure that we had sufficient support for the deck. Their showroom is very helpful. There are samples and some mockups of decks, railings, lighting, etc. There are lots of options and the staff was great about explaining the options but not pressure-upselling. I felt comfortable choosing the materials and extras with their help. After the project was finished, there was one support post that didn't look finished to me when I looked at it from our dining room window. All Decks was great about coming out. After seeing and understanding what I wanted to upgrade, they were able to install a matching trim piece that made the post look complete. The deck has been installed now since Oct 2024. It still looks great and I couldn't be happier.

The Rot Doctor did an excellent job from start to finish. They carefully removed the rotten siding, boards, and supports while temporarily supporting the wall, then installed a new pressure-treated sill, water-resistant siding, flashing, and belly band, with everything properly caulked and sealed. The workmanship was very high quality. All the cuts were precise, with clean lines, no gaps, and everything felt sturdy and well-built. They also went above and beyond by replacing and reinforcing some warped supports that weren't originally part of the scope. They were experienced and clearly knew how to approach the job, and they were great to work with throughout. Communication and customer service were excellent--we were able to discuss the work as it progressed and adjust the scope when needed. We hired Intercrus to refinish our wooden deck, build a new cable and aluminum railing, and rebuild…read morethe wooden stairs. Unfortunately, the consistent pattern of their work was sloppiness. Nearly every phase required rework because something was done incorrectly the first time, and issues had to be caught by us rather than flagged proactively by the crew. The team's standard of quality was remarkably low. Examples of the workmanship problems we encountered: * The initial stair construction was misaligned and was built without a concrete footing, so the wood on the last step went right into the ground. They tried to retroactively pour the concrete when we questioned it, but this resulted in uneven stair heights so the entire thing had to be demolished and remade. * Large screws securing railing post brackets were installed with no proper pressure-treated backing, instead using scrap wood or nothing at all, which left many screws sticking out several inches. Their first proposed solution was cutting off the screws that were sticking out, but we learned that can promote rust. * The railing posts were to be fascia-mounted with brackets. We noticed the first post was installed with no bracket at all, so they had to remove it and remount it with the bracket. * Railings were installed poorly aligned, including a gap over 4 inches at one corner, which is not code compliant. The misaligned cables had to be reinstalled, and fixing the gap required a cable run that is longer than optimal for proper tension. When asked why this happened, they blamed their supplier. * Deck sanding visibly gouged some of the boards, and sanding residue was left on the house exterior. * Stair lighting was installed incorrectly (every step instead of every other), damaging risers and requiring extra materials and rework. * Incorrect posts and the wrong handrail material were ordered, and we were asked to accept substitute materials to cover their supplier error. * Stain application was inconsistent and messy. * Several plants were trampled or damaged. * Many tiny pieces of aluminum scrap metal were littered across our garden as they drilled holes in the posts for installation. Communication was reactive and inconsistent throughout, basic scheduling and billing details required repeated follow-ups, and when Eugene was replaced by Dmitry mid-project, Dmitry hadn't been properly briefed on prior decisions so we had to re-explain everything to him ourselves. What was scoped as a several-week job stretched more than two months beyond the original timeline. The team apologized for the poor experience, gave us a discount, and did correct most of the items listed above, but only after we spent significant time documenting them. The overall project management and quality control were not what we'd expect for the price and scope of this work, and we would not hire this company again.
