He's an…read moreactive kid with a short attention span, and a previous tutoring center's repetitive work actually made him frustrated and resistant to learning. We had to stop because we were worried it'd hurt his long-term motivation, especially in English. We found JEI through a friend's recommendation and were honestly skeptical at first, because my son was really against going to tutoring at that point. But within a couple of weeks, everything changed. He started saying the tutors were "funny" and actually looked forward to going and showing them his completed JEI workbooks. Now JEI is part of our weekly routine, and the results have been clear. Their personalized approach and engaging teaching have boosted his confidence--he now enjoys reading and grammar and consistently earns 3s in English. With middle school coming up, we're planning to enroll him in the Reading & Writing program at JEI as well. Highly recommend!

The center manager and the tutors there are excellent. They are patient and supportive while engaging structure to boost academic learning skills. They aim to support kids with different levels of learning abilities. My kid attends the reading and the math subjects. You can choose which subject (or both) to attend based on your circumstances. I found that the JEI curriculums in math and reading which have helped my kid build a good foundation for middle school and beyond. Thank you JEI Learning Center.

I put my daughters (8 and 11) into Feelosopher's Path's Adventure Summer Camp in 2014. My…read moredaughters are shy and have a very hard time joining group activities, especially when they don't know anyone. They also tend to have a "can't do" attitude about new activities. For that reason, they generally hated summer camps. They hated CuriOdyssey, Marine Science Institute, Galileo, Steve & Kate's, you-name-it. Feelosopher's Path's stated goal for camp was to encourage kids to become more adventurous and independent -- at a gentle pace. I figured it was worth a try. Well, this was the first summer camp where I did not have to drag them there every morning. On the first day, as usual, my daughters hung behind me during check-in and stared worriedly around. Erin immediately got down to their eye-level and started chatting. By the time I finished checking in, both girls were relaxed and conversing and I saw them join the other kids before I left. Every morning, they were eager to put on their new wristwatches (part of the camp equipment list) and go on another exploration. And my non-outdoorsy, non-hiking girls hiked to the Angel Island campsite carrying all of their own gear and came back dirty and joyous. After the camp ended, both girls were adamant that they wanted to return. By June of 2015, they were asking on a weekly basis if Feelosopher's Camp was the next week! They were so excited. They had just as much fun at FC Adventure Summer Camp 2015. Feelosopher's Path is a great organization. It truly feels to be that Erin and Hiro create community. This isn't just about keeping the kids busy for the summer with activities. They are taught to be part of a larger world and to become more independent and more caring. The school year programs don't work with our schedule but they sound awesome. We will be back for the summer camp and someday we hope our kids will feel independent enough to say they want to go to Japan for the sister summer camp. That would be a milestone. I will finally add that having Hiro and kids come from Japan to run/attend the summer camp is wonderful. It shows the kids that there is a whole world to explore.

Ever since my daughter was ready to attend summer camp, I've always heard good things about Galileo, especially that they focus on science and art -- every modern parent lights up at the idea of STEAM philosophy (science, technology, engineering, art, and math). So kiddo gave this a try as an upcoming 4th grader. We signed up for a few weeks that focused on topics she was interested in. In comparison to other camps, Galileo charges higher on the scale. They make up for this by having a mostly friendly staff and I love that the camp director herself would put a chicken on her head every morning to greet the kids arriving. They try to have a drop off system in the morning and for the most part, it flows smoothly, but checkout can be a pain and disorganized depending on the camp leader for your group. The rest of the feedback is directly from my daughter. Overall she reported that the camp is cheesy and treated her like she's a little kid. They sit on the yard daily listening to long life lessons about how to treat others. Kiddo said these are things that should've been learned in kindergarten -- roasting in the hot blazing sun with no shade and sitting on rough concrete was something she hated doing every day. There were also some rude kids and depending on the camp leader, very little was done to correct their misbehavior. Some camp leaders seem inexperienced and camp was more like babysitting. Kiddo did like creating some of the projects. This Galileo is based out of Franklin elementary but none of the kids were allowed to play on the structure, which was really quite disappointing.

Our ten year old went swimming almost every single day, and loved his field trip to the pinball museum. He made friends and felt very welcomed. Our seven year old loved his camp counselors and got a huge kick out of the pickle making activity and water day. Overall the staff were kind, attentive and very organized. I was told this was one of the more expensive camps in town--you definitely get what you pay for. Our kids are already asking to go back next year!

A transformative summer for my 9 year old rising 4th grader! My son often enjoys being at home…read moreplaying with his legos, reading, and playing with his brother. He is high functioning and can navigate most social situations, but this is what he prefers-- being home, playing independently and sticking to his happy routine. When I signed him up for camp Keff, I wasn't sure what to expect, as other than soccer he has never participated in anything like Camp Keff before. The first day we met his counselors, they asked all of the right questions and went out of their way to introduce themselves to my son and our family. The counselors were warm and introduced our son to other new campers in his group. My sense is that this was very intentional on their part, so as to foster a sense of connection amongst the newer campers. When we left him that day, he looked quite serious so naturally I went home wondering, "did I make the right choice encouraging him to get out of his comfort zone for a full 4 weeks (half of his summer break)?" Yes, that's right, we signed him up for 4 weeks knowing that no refund would be issued and it was the best decision ever! From that day forward, I dropped him off every day smiling and he would come home with an even bigger smile with so many camp stories to share! We weren't sure if he was ready to go on an overnight with the camp just yet, but as it turns out, we were the ones that weren't ready yet and he was LOL! He went on his first overnight with Keff and had an absolutely sensational time building forts, making crafts and eating s'mores by the fire. My son made so many new friends and even more wonderful memories I know he will cherish for a lifetime. He experienced so many new and engaging activities and with the support of Keff's well trained and experienced counselors, he was able to navigate things that have been more challenging in the past with ease. My son is already talking about going back next summer. His excitement and enthusiasm about all things Keff is a testament to the care and dedication with which these counselors approach their work of providing a safe and nurturing environment for campers to explore, play and create in! My only regret-- not signing him up for more weeks of camp. :) My many, many thanks and congratulations to the entire Keff camp staff on an epic summer of fun! Thank you for all that you do and for your care and commitment to the safety of our children!

The workshops are mainly classroom activities and crafts, two outdoor play breaks, a snack time and a lot of Q&A. The age group for the session that we did was 3.5 - 5.5, the younger kids got pretty worn out. There are 15/16 kids and two high energy adults, with one park and rec staffer standing by. The class lasts from 1-4pm. The price for a 1 week session $130. They send each kid home with some daily plastic landfill item (this is clearly my least favorite part) and a craft project.
