We had a small project that needed to be done. It was contracted out to a smaller company to do the work. Although the subs were good, I find the communication a bit lacking. Not sure if our job was too small for them but it took a while to get the lien paperwork back and such. read more

Amazing service. I failed to measure my doorway correctly before ordering a gigantic refrigerator. Oops. Omare came to the rescue to take the doors off the fridge so that I didn't have to figure out how to do it myself, send it back, or leave it outside for an extended period while waiting for someone else to help me. He was there in less than an hour and managed to get fridge through two doorways with about 1/4 inch of room on each side without scratching the finish. Above and beyond. I had tree damage to my roof which led to interior water damage. My experience was very good with Armata. Anthony Delgado was the project manager and kept me informed of progress all throughout the process of abatement (asbestos testing made this necessary), making some changes to the wall structures, wallboarding, hanging new light fixtures, painting, and so on. When I returned from my trip, it was all done, and looked beautiful. They finished on time, were efficient, and kept me in the loop. Anthony even returned a call well after the job was done for a question I had that he really didn't need to concern himself with. He always said to call again with any questions or concerns, and for me, prompt attention to concerns is important. So, I'd use them again in the future. read more

Our experience completely mirrors that of Dianne and Duane (except whatever good work Duane got). It is hard to summarize in the space here how much they did wrong and how poor the work was. Unfortunately we were given this contractor on a list from our insurance also. From the beginning communication was terrible. The first part of our project involved having the wood main floor of our house stripped and refinished, which required removing the quarter-round molding and moving all furniture out of our house. To do this required that we leave the house. We had to get an AirBNB, which meant that we needed to be fairly accurate to when the work would start. If the work started earlier or later, we would be without a place to stay or be stuck with extra charges. The PM changed our starting date 3 times in the week before the work was to start after we already had a reservation. He denied having told us what we'd previously agreed on w/ start date. Furthermore, when he finally settled on a date and it wasn't a time that worked for us, he responded, "too late, we are already planning on that". They originally told us that the work would take 2 weeks, but during the schedule juggling, came back and said that it would take 10 days. We pointed out what they had previously said, and they insisted that they could get the work done. 2 days before they were supposed to be done, the PM texted saying they were on schedule. The next day (day before we move back), he texted and said it would be two more days. That was stressful because of the AirBNB situation. After 2 days, they said they still weren't done and it would move from Fri to Mon. However, they expected us to move back in on Monday w/o any furniture, which we were unwilling to do, so that extended to Tuesday -- a total of 5 days delay over the original 10 day plan. At one point during our emails on this, the PM made the comment, "since you all are so concerned about the schedule...". Thankfully our awesome AirBNB host was flexible to allow us to continue our stay there. During this time, I frequently looped the company owner into the conversation, and he constantly referred me to the PM and had no interest in the situation at all. No sympathy for us and no apparent recognition that they were doing anything wrong. When we returned and discovered the work was when things got very bad. A critical thing we didn't catch is that they never asked us in to do color samples of the floor. When we returned we found that the floor color was totally wrong. We also found several major areas of damage apparently due to the movers. One piece of furniture is basically ruined. Another needs to be refinished due to scratches, for which we've got an estimate of $1000. The newly refinished floor also had numerous scratches in it. Further, they had told us that the floors should remain uncovered for 3 weeks after the staining work -- however, the rugs were down and furniture on top. When I asked about this, the PM said, "yeah that shouldn't have happened, can you please move them?". Another issue is that they were supposed to repaint the 5" baseboard and replace all the quarter-round molding. However, they put all the old quarter-round molding back on, unstained, ON TOP OF baseboard that obviously needed to be repainted. Further, they moved furniture back against the walls. Why would you do this if you were planning on replacing and repainting the baseboard and molding? At one point I emailed the company owner and PM with a list of these complaints. The owner replied with an email that said only, "OK, thanks". With the floor being the wrong color, we had a major decision to make on whether to keep the floor or have them redo it. Besides that we didn't like the new color, the problem was that there were several other things that matched the old color -- a stair landing, molding, and another section of floor that did not get refinished. Even worse, we had a kitchen island that matched the old one. If we kept the new color, all these things would need to be fixed. So, we had a choice of either asking them to redo the floor, which would require moving out again, or fix these other things. I brought in a couple other contractors and a Windermere agent to show them the work. They all pointed out numerous mistakes and thought that the work had been terrible. The Windermere agent pointed out that if we had Armata redo the work, there was no guarantee that they wouldn't do just as bad a job, or damage more stuff the second time. I brought up these issues again with the owner, and suggested that we should get reimbursed for the damages and for more lodging if we had to move out again. He was unwilling to address any of our complaints, and he threatened us with a lien on our property until we paid them for the work so far. We paid them for the work to date and fired them from the project with half of the overall project remaining to do. read more

The company owner, Ryan, was very responsive and worked well with us to assess the water damage in our home and determine the plans for repair. The mitigation work was major, including our having to move out of our home. High compliments to the project manager assigned, Omare. Omare provided us with exceptional service, with a priority to always answer our calls, was timely and responsive to our questions and needs, proactively reached out to us on upcoming scheduled work and ensured that all work met our expectations for quality. I wanted to express my satisfaction with the job Armata did on repairing damage created by a leaking water heater hose. My insurance company referred them and I was very pleased by their performance. They were punctual and communication was exceptional, especially the project manager, Omare. Whenever I had questions, he responded quickly, even on weekends. He directed me to stores where I could view samples for the needed replacement items which was extremely helpful. I was pleased with the quality of their work and most of all in their efforts to make everything a smooth as possible to complete job in timely manner. read more

Run, run, run as fast as you can from this business. The business ignores any sort of communication attempts. Some of the sub contractors were the worst with whom we have ever dealt. It was a toss up whether a sub would show up or not for a day of work. Got this contractor from insurance referral. Insurance insisted we go through Armata to settle final bill, but lack of itemized statement and totally ignoring any attempts for accountability was an expensive lesson. They cashed check made out to both of us without our co-signature. Make sure any insurance payment comes to you so you can control payments if you are so foolish to hire them after knowing of my experience. read more

Had almost a mirror experience of Diane S. above. Our kitchen had water damage and needed to be replaced, and we decided to do some larger efforts (removed a wall, moved appliances, etc.). Went with Armata over a known contractor because they could start right away and the other contractor was 3 weeks out. They were referred from our insurance. Big mistake. They didn't start right away and in fact our known contractor would have started earlier. Took 7 months end to end. It's a small kitchen and our overall home is only 1800 sq feet. Communication extremely poor. Planning even worse. Never knew more than a week out what was happening and many times they wouldn't show when we expected or would show up but other work that needed to be done hadn't happened. To not be 100% negative some of the subcontractors we had were pretty good. Not all. Our newer kitchen is definitely an upgrade and there is some nice work that was done on the flooring and countertops. We also had some challenges with change orders. The initial change order they put in was super high and had 2 line items. Nothing was broken down or itemized. When I asked for more breakdown they just added a sentence or two to each line item. (Note that the initial bid to our insurance was around 7 pages with everything broken out in detail). And when we examined deeper and found it was overcharging by $10k the owner's response was I should be grateful he didn't just charge me that. Besides when they came in to do the bid, that was one of only 2 communications from him over the time of this project. read more
