I had lost my only car key and I didn't have the fob to get in and so I was locked out of my car and of course I couldn't start it either. I called around at a couple of different places and Able Smart Key and Lock was able to come in the early afternoon. From my driveway, he recoded my car for the key I needed, made a key for me, it worked perfectly- very smoothly-and he was done in maybe a half hour. I needed keys so a helpful contractor referred me to a kiosk shop at 24th and Franklin. So happy with the owner Steve that I went back a few more times for house keys, another car key, and rekey of locks. A month ago I went and found the place boarded up because the shop moved. After a few weeks of still needing keys and not knowing where to go because I like a referral, I searched YELP and the map showed the old address and tel, so I dialed it and Steve answered. Happy me. He even ordered a special tsa travel lock for me that he did not carry. His shop has grown with a few more locksmiths, however still a busy small shop with outcalls, so phone ahead. To begin with, both my house and car keys were stolen out of my cousin's car. Derrick quoted me a reasonable price to come out to my apartment and set me up with a new car key. It was pretty close to the price the dealership quoted me, but going with Keys Plus Midtown meant I wouldn't have to tow it. He was able to make a spare car key too, for an additional $45, which I felt was very reasonable. I actually ended up with another spare because the first key he made only worked in the ignition one direction. So now I have 2 spares! My landlord had the door lock on my apartment changed, but the guy wasn't a true locksmith and it wasn't fixed correctly. I had to fumble with the deadbolt every time I left my house. I asked Derrick if he had time to take a look at it for me since he was here and he did, right on the spot. He was able to fix the deadbolt lock in about 5 minutes! Overall, I was very impressed by how professional Derrick was, his promptness and thorough work. I had a key for my motorcycle that was recently bent and caused a bunch of problems using the ignition switch on my bike. I came in and David helped me out immediately. I asked for a duplicate of my key and he started on it immediately. I had a slight wait of a minute or two and the job was done. I walked out to my bike and the key worked flawlessly. This place lives up to its reputation. My original car keys were no longer working reliably in my ignition. Sometimes they worked fine and other times I had to try repeatedly before the key would catch properly on the locking mechanism. Both of the guys at this shop were extremely knowledgeable and got my car's ignition lock working again, good as new. Just recently purchased a house and wanted to get all the locks re-keyed. I called to get a quote and it was $50 trip fee plus $12.50 per lock re-key. The technician advised me to bring the locks in and it would be $8.50 per lock with no trip fee. I was also able to drop-in on a Sunday mid-day on short notice. I went to keys plus because a friend recommended it. It was really nice place and they had a huge selection of house keys. I went there for a key for my Ford, though. The gentleman there told me there was a "chip" in my key and that it would cost 60 bucks. I've never heard of this so I asked what he was talking about. He told me it was some anti-theft blah blah blah. Why would I pay 60 dollars for a key when home depot has always charged me couple bucks? He offered me a "door key" for just a few dollars. I don't even use a key to open my door, so clearly this idiot has know clue about cars. Or keys. I went to the dealer instead and they told me the same thing about this chip thing. Stay away from these crooks. Now the place is trying to make nice. I drive a 2010 Ford Explorer Mister, but I'm not coming back. I found a locksmith online that says you are a fraud and theres no such thing as a chip in a Ford key. I hope other people read this and learn the truth!!! Not often that I write reviews...but these guys deserved it. After an unsuccessful attempt to have a chevy key cut, I was so disappointed and had to order another one from the interenet, so there went a waste of $7. My second attempt was at Integrated Security where right, away, the keymaker was quick to point out that I my copy wasn't properly made. He then suggested that he make a "co copy" where I could test it to be sure it would fit in the ignition and start the car. Went home, test his copy and sure enough, it worked! The next day, I brought him my second chevy virgin key and told him his "co copy" worked great. In less than two minutes he cut my chevy key and only charged me $2....where in this town can I have a car key made for $2 and still be able to keep the "co copy" he made for me?? He was very thoughtful when he suggested I have a "co key" made and made sure that I did not have to ruin a second chevy key. This to me, is super awesome customer service and is becoming more rare. I highly recommend these guys...located on the corner of 2nd and Broadway, plenty of parking on the side of the building and technicians who know their stuff...do I have to mention the several house keys made at Lowe's, which never worked properly? read more

this place is a total rip off I came to keys plus midtown to get a copy of my key which about $15.00 for key and the cutting together around town I asked the owner to make a copy of my key with a metal key he gave me a price of $35 dollars and started shaking his head and said im doing all wrong. he said to cut a new key with plastic shell and new chip and with remote which is $150 dollars. after breaking three aftermarket Toyota chipped key he was about to recover the chip which tells me he did not have the key in stock and cut the new key and program my key but remote not working. I went back the next day and the other worker still could not get it to work. so I looked it to it and found its a aftermarket remote not a original lexus remote. I went and bought a original lexus key remote and my keyless entry works fines it locks and unlocks and had no problem.while keys plus told me they was sum wrong with my car when it was actually his aftermarket key which was defective. I added one extra key and remote but still unable to program keys plus aftermarket remote. and this is the second time this has happen to me the first one was the 2002 Toyota went and got a key copy made and few weeks later the 2002 Toyota did not start had the car towed to the Toyota dealer and dealer service said defective key and they sold me a original Toyota key and the car is still starting fine. the owner of keys plus has brought his chevy elco to my shop and I fixed his check engine light set his timing and for him to treat me like this it pretty F ed up read more
