We submitted our passports in May, and because of some complications with my visa application, it ended up taking almost four months. I was getting worried because I needed my passport for another trip and was considering canceling the application. Brenda went to the Consulate in person to pick up my passport and also took the time to ask the manager about the delay. This agency is first rate! We live in NM and needed visas for a trip to China. Going to LA would have been expensive and time-consuming. Rae helped us through the process, delivered our passports, picked them up and mailed them back to us ... all done efficiently and for a very reasonable fee. She always responded quickly to my many texts and questions. She was polite, knowledgeable and friendly. I got updates from her along the way. Before contracting with Able Tours, I called at least 5-6 different firms. Few were able to clearly explain the process and time frame. Most wanted us to use their service to complete our applications (at much higher price). Even their courier fees were higher than Able Tours. Hiring a firm located in the same building as the consulate is a big plus as they can deliver the passports as soon as they arrive and pick them up as soon as they are ready. I drove in from Phx to go to my appointment to submit all the paperwork at the LA PR of China Consulate on the 3rd floor. When all was and done the clerk said. "You or an agent can pick up you passport with Visa on Wednesday. So I was thinking, maybe an agent would be something to consider. When you leave the Consulate and look right. Able Tours is right there. They can help with emergency printings and items like passport visa photos. I asked if they could help and yes they could. They knew all the prices and the procedures. They took my information and credit card information and I am all set up for Able to do the pick up and fed ex overnight to me. Pretty painless because I had done all the information gathering. I'm so glad that I gave this place a shot. I called them to ask about getting a Chinese visa and they were super helpful and responsive! I sent my materials in and within 20 minutes of receiving the package they gave us a call to let us know what else they needed. I would give 0 stars if possible. Customer service is completely horrid. Walking in, the Chinese ladies that are working give you the side eye and ask you what you need. They don't give time for you to figure out what you may need especially if you're like me trying to figure out how to get a visa for the first time! People come here for either their travel service (which I'm not writing about) or the convenience of having things printed or photo copied to have your visa processed down the hall. You would think that they charge a reasonable price for people who may have mindlessly forgot things while trying to get some time off their day to get a visa processed. Wrong. $15 for them to help you TYPE and print out a form you can easily do yourself. There's a new policy where you can't handwrite forms, but to have them printed. $15 dollars for them to type at 20 wpm while you sit there staring at them and thinking you can probably drive 10 minutes to the local library and type and print for $3 max. I only paid for the service because I was on a time crunch. Jokes on me I spent more time here than I need. Photo copies are $0.50 each and printing out email pages is $3 per page. RIDICULOUS IM TELLING YOU. Funny thing is that they charge cash only. And it hurts my heart that people who are in the same time crunch at me are paying ridiculous rates to be verbally abused and financially robbed by these ladies for simple paperwork. Shit service. Ridiculous rates. Nope. Literally take the time to walk elsewhere to get your things printed. I left the building in a sour mood all day. Don't be me. read more

This place is located right down the hallway from the Chinese consulate where I submitted my visa. I live in SD and didn't want to make the long drive back up to LA 4 days later to pick up my visa and take off of work. They were able to pick up my visa for me after I gave them the pink slip and ship it to me overnight for an affordable price, considering the gas and time I would have wasted driving up myself! A fortuitous discovery. I went to China the past year a few times and have plans to go this year as well. And, being a waiguoren (foreigner) I am required to have a visa to travel there. Not one they stamp at the airport, like in Europe or other countries, an official, pay the money, leave your passport, wait a week, come back pick it up kind of visa. So I went to the Chinese Consulate at this same address and arrived to see a mob of people waiting in line. I got my # and stood there and realized this would take a while. Somehow I saw a sign saying Visas down the hall as I was getting in line and after 10 minutes I decided to investigate. I left my hard earned spot and went. The garden of Eden - calm, empty, a few clerks typing away at their computers. No hordes of harassed, hot and hungry humanity. An oasis of peace. For a service fee on top of the actual visa cost, price varying on how long you wanted your visa to last, I was told to leave my documents and come back in two days to pick them up. What? Really? From one week at the consulate and hours in line to a few minutes and few days here? They even take your picture, if you don't have it. One stop shop. Oh, and of course, they are also a travel agency, with all sorts of vacation deals to China and Asia. Sign me up! And so I did and indeed, two days later I returned to receive my spanking new visa. Terrible customer service. Absolutely terrible. Employee that helped us type and print our visa application was rude and impatient. She literally complained within 5 seconds after asking where my previous visa (I travel a lot and have had terrible luck with my passports getting stolen while traveling, so I couldn't remember what city I was in when I had gotten my last visa) that I was taking too long. I tried to keep my cool, but her rude remarks piled up. I reminded her I was paying her $15 to type and print my form out and not for her to run her mouth. If you're going to rip people off at least do it while smiling and providing a positive experience. I'm not paying you $15 to worsen my already ruined day at the visa office. Avoid this place. If you must, just fill the forms out yourself on the Adobe Fill & Sign app, and just them to print the pages out. It's 25 cents a page and it'll save you an earful from a bitter employee. read more

Great experience with Able Tours! Very friendly, helpful, simple process. It's unfortunate many of the bad reviews due to what sounds like unprepared incompetent customers. 1. Check the prices online. If you don't want to pay them then go directly to the Chinese consulate. You WILL pay more here. You are paying for a service. They will get your visa (or whatever other item your doing) processed and save you waiting in lines. Think of the DMV and paying someone to deal with them for you. That's what this company does but for travel. 2. READ on their website what you need and show up with the necessary paperwork. 3. They are not rude. Everyone I dealt with was very professional. Every culture is different. If you're showing up to a Chinese travel agency and expecting American customer service you're in the wrong place and probably not ready to travel abroad :) I will definitely use them in the future and would highly recommend if you want to save time and energy getting a Chinese Visa. Worse fu--ing place ever! My wife and I literally left there 5 mins ago and I couldn't wait to write this review. The women and the one guy there were RUDE as hell! My wife made a comment of how expensive it was for them to type out your visa form ( since, admittedly I made the mistake of hand printing the forms) at $15 each at a snails pace. The lady helping then proceeds to say we had to sign in and she did NOT want to help us because of our comment regarding the high prices. We were then told that we could fill out form ourselves via our phones. I did that and then the first page printed was horrible! The new lady helping us says that will be $2 although the page was bad!! I asked to speak to whomever was in charge. She walks over to another lady at a desk who proceeds to say she's busy and "we can wait...". What the fu-- is going on here? How do you run a busy like this? If you make the mistake as I did, please find the local library, fedex kinkos or go back home to re-do forms ( like I'm doing). read more

I would avoid this place at all cost if possible. It's way overcrowded and the customer service is the most horrible ever. We had to use their notary service because the location is convenient as it's is right down the hallway from the Chinese Consulate (also another terrible customer service) and they are knowledgeable about how to draft paperwork to get approved by the consulate. For Notary work, Drafting documents in Chinese, getting the doc authorized by the California of State, and authorized by the Chinese consulate, this cost $240. They will run the errands for you and this price. So I have to suck it up and use their services despite the terrible wait or rude customer service. read more

I prefer to do my own visa now and I would rather pay if I could. The company lacks communication. I stopped using them as they became less reliable in getting what I wanted and short in attention to detail which is kind of important in this business IMHO. I understand if the consulate doesn't end up getting me what I asked for but it would be nice if this company informed me that the visa was for less than I asked. I ended up going down the hall this past time and doing my own visa application and it was fine. My white husband and I found this interesting tour agency back in 2007. It was time for us to make our first trip together to China. I'd lived there before as an English teacher and had gotten many visas before. But getting a visa to China at the LA consulate is a nightmare. It was crazy with long longs that four years ago followed the Chinese line system...mad rush in all directions to be first to a counter. There is minimal guidance as what to do when you get in there. And now I recently know there is security - with x-ray machines - to even get into the Consulate's visa section. So my husband and I find a slightly smug sense of satisfaction calmly walking past the long line of stressed, frustrated people waiting to get into the Consulate...and head into Able Tours. They have expanded a little in 4 years. And it was busier in there last Friday afternoon. It's a bit chaotic, but in a less frantic manner than the Consulate. And it's a bit humorous (especially if you can understand some Cantonese and Mandarin and can listen in on the conversations going on among the staff). An auntie took care of us, but visa apps weren't her thing. It took a few checks with a co-worker to make sure we had the right application filled in. I told her it was the one we'd downloaded from their website. (I didn't give away my Chinese language skills, though. We patiently waited as she carefully got it checked and then got our receipt for us. They charge 4% for using a credit card, so you may want to have plenty of cash on you. My only complaint would be little surprises. Nothing on the website says there's a new rule about having to get a 1-yr multiple entry visa. We had checked the box for 6-mo multi entry. Oh no, now its only for 1 yr. At least they didn't cost more. In 2009, we went through Able Tours to authenticate documents to be used in China. I'd done this before (through the Consulate one brave trip to LA years ago) on my own. The lady at Able Tours said the stamps were wrong and was glad to charge us more to completely re-do the process for us! I felt like we got screwed a little there, but I wanted to get it done...and it was a pain to get everything done that I'd already done!!! So far, going though Able Tours is still worth the extra $$ to get our applications processed very quickly and then have our passports mailed to us so we don't have to drive another 7-8 hrs to pick them up. read more

This is the WORST company I have ever done business with. First of all I am an American so I was treated with the utmost disrespect. Let me tell you a little story. My boss holds real estate in China and needed to process a few Power of Attorney's and an Apostle. I did all my due diligence with the Notary and Dept. of State and submitted to the Embassy for their stamp. Side note (Can i just say how RUDE the embassy employee's are and they rejected by paper work). i remember from the past that Shirley use to help me when i lived in Nevada, wasn't always pleasant but she did get my work through the Embassy. HOWEVER when the Apostle was rejected i went for help at Able. I was sent to CARRIE....probably the worse human on the planet. Whispering about me in Chinese to her co-workers, making me feel completely incompetent. HELLO we have a language barrier and all i was asking for is a little help. Carrie ended up composing what we needed AND THEN CHARGED ME OVER $3000 FOR 33 DOCUMENTS. Ok, i was fine with that because there are a few millions of dollars at stake so my boss paid the fee and after about 50 emails and rude phone convo's from Carrie she then sent the docs to China. THEN......yesterday i had to do this all over again, but to only process 6 POA's. Simple, right? As i got to the Embassy THEY HAD CLOSED EARLY ON THE 2ND OF JULY.....I was really upset coming from Orange County and the court date is on July 16th in China, this doc has to get processed ASAP. I then at my mercy went to go see Carrie and I can't believe how they/she treated me, like I was non existent. She knew who i was especially coming back with my 3 and 4 year old. She flashed a sign as i waited for her to KEEP QUIET....really flashed a sign. She asked to look at the POA while she was processing a Visa with another couple. As they was thumbing thru she argued the language on the document. I told her the law firm in China sent this to my boss and all he had to do was notarize and process with all dept's. She then said "I WILL NOT WASTE MY TIME GOING TO THE EMBASSY UNTIL YOU FIX IT". I again explained that the law firm needed this specific wording and it will be fine. First of all, a waste of her time??? I AM PAYING YOU A TON OF MONEY TO DO THIS, HOW IS THIS WASTING YOUR TIME. She told me to go sit and wait like a dog in the corner. My kids were giggling and all the sudden i hear a page thru the intercom....KEEP IT DOWN I AM WORKING. Some other women in her office who had eye contact me decide to humiliate me and my children. I got up and said that's it, you are ALL CROOKS AND I AM FOR SURE PURSING THIS FURTHER WITH THE BBB.....note to non Asian people.....DON'T GO THERE....they will hike your price and you are their hostage..they will speak at their other people in Chinese about you and giggle.....HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE PEOPLE.....Carrie should be ashamed of herself how she spoke to me and I was a returning customer who paid a lot of money to them. read more

You pay an additional $40 or so dollars than the consulate, but they are open later and so helpful. I'm never there more than 10 minutes. Go see Shirley! She's literally the best. I'm okay with Asian ladies here giving you side eyes and nonchalant about your question, but this young fella is straight up DISRESPECTFUL, to male or female, young and old alike. When people are paying with credit card, he says "hurry up" and talks in a very condescending way if you are unclear of what he said. This is the worst place I ever have been. The only reason this place still exist is because they locate at the same floor of China counsel. They charge $3 per page to print out your itinerary and $15 to fake the itinerary for you. Seriously! Those Cantonese old ladies are trying to rip you off. If you want to charge a premium price for the convenience , at lease provide descent service! While we are waiting for the itinerary print out, the Internet is not working. While the Internet finally back to life, the word document is not working, so it takes 10 minutes waiting for simple copy and paste. Seriously! This horrible company not only charge a high price for Chinese document authentication and etc. but also if they have your document in their possession they will hijack you not to return your document unless you pay them.
