We loved our time in New Zealand. Some of the highlights were Hobbiton, Queenstown, Zealandia in Wellington, and the Maori evening in Rotorua. Hobbiton was even better than we had expected. We also visited the Weta workshop in Wellington where many special effects for LOTR were created. The entire trip, we were surrounded by beautiful scenery both rugged and pastoral. Our transfers were faithful, our hotels clean and well-equipped. I never had problems using WiFi or being without a hair drier.... May was a perfect season with bright leaf color in the south while green grass covered the hills. I would love to spend more time in Queenstown so that I could see more places that LOTR was filmed." read more

I paid $34,000 to About Australia,and it became one of the biggest travel disappointments of my life. We were placed in filthy, roach-infested accommodations with water leaks. Hours before our Uluru tour, they changed our small group tour up to 8 people to a crowded bus with 65 people completely ruining the experience we paid for. Once we arrived, the company was virtually impossible to reach. Roslyn, who sold me the trip, never responded to my concerns, and Melanie took nearly a week to reply. For $34,000, all we got were flights, two hotels, and overcrowded, unguided group tours. To make matters worse, I had to pay out of pocket for hotels in Sydney and Melbourne, private tours, and some transportation. When I tried to resolve these issues, they first refunded me just $46. After repeated emails, they offered $2,700, claiming that was all they had paid, despite charging me $34,000. After more than six months of efforts to resolve this matter, I decided to consider accepting the $2,700 offer in an effort to bring the issue to a conclusion, although I did not believe the amount adequately reflected the extent of my concerns. However, they wanted me to sign an agreement that would have restricted my ability to publicly share my experience or provide future feedback about the company. Because I was not willing to agree to those terms, I chose not to accept the offer. I filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the Texas Attorney General's Office . I believe other travelers deserve to know what happened. My advice: get multiple quotes, demand a full breakdown of what you're paying for, and never accept vague pricing. Check Reddit to see what others are saying. After your trip, if your review doesn't appear, contact Shopper Approved and ask them for a new link, because your feedback might mysteriously disappear. I can't get my dream vacation back, but I hope this saves someone else from losing tens of thousands. read more

"It was an unforgettable experience. We flew from LA to Fiji, to Melbourne, to Hobart, to Sydney, to Cairns, to Noosa, and then to Brisbane for the flight home with a 2 night stay in Fiji before we headed back to LA. All the arrangements were great: the airport transfers to the hotels, the hotels themselves, and especially the excursions! I told the agent, Stephanie, all the things that we wanted to do and we did them all! All the tours had such great guides! They were knowledgeable, and friendly, and so accommodating! I had a physically challenging tour in the Rainforest but the guide kept me with him to help me in the "dodgy" places. We were busy almost every day and still had free time to explore on our own. This travel agency is absolute trash. I recently went on a group trip asking for flight accommodations due to medical injury. I consistently get these accommodations when I travel and book on my own, however after paying for the trip over the course of the year and consistently speaking with Melanie, one of the owners, I got no where. Initially I was told I have to pay extra for bulkhead seating regardless of medical issue. After sending her a copy of the law stating airlines and travel agents are not allowed to charge for said medical accommodations, I was asked to provide a doctors note which I did almost immediately. Several months of follow-ups ensued. This was the most aggravating process. Not only that Melanie was many times non-responsive. A week before the trip I finally got my seat assignments and only received accommodations for 2 out of the 4 flights, and one of those was not as we discussed. I spoke to the airline who happily switched my seat to accommodate my injury then I got chewed out about moving my seat by the trip leader even though both the airline and Melanie's office staff stated changing my seat 1 week before the trip should by no way effect the rest of the groups' booking. I also asked for wheelchair service for my flights and did not get a response. I only knew it was added to my booking by calling the airline. Horrible, dishonest service. Never again. read more

POOR COMMUNICATION! Lack of organization internally. Our booking agent Stephanie M's' turnaround time was 2 weeks for questions and then 2 weeks for answers, often requiring a second email/call. Her response, "I didn't get our call or email," "I was out and didn't see your email." After returning from a nice trip, we chased Stephanie for $600 of reimbursements due to us for excursions or transportation issues for six months! Only after a threat to report them to the BBB did we hear from Melanie Brown, co-owner. Even her promises failed. But, after our persistent, we received our money due. However, when we asked for consideration of compensation for the poor/lack of communication with Stephanie and Melanie, she has now ghosted us. Too bad. Not professional. read more

I'm writing this on behalf of my parents. They booked a trip scheduled for August with these guys earlier this year. Both my parents are in there 70's and my mom has asthma, which as you could imagine they are very wary of traveling anytime soon with this pandemic going around. They tried for months to cancel there trip since they know even if restrictions were lifted by August they still would not feel comfortable traveling without a vaccine readily available. Long story short they initially didnt want to refund anything for canceling, then after weeks of phone calls and hassling they got about $2,400 back but these Crooks are keeping $1,400 for "Fees". My wife and I had 2 vacations planned for this year, one booked through Hotwire and the other booked with my Credit Card Points. Both of these companies understand the world's situation right now and all thou it took some effort we got 100% refunds on both trips. Stay away and go with a reputable company. read more

When I called them on it, they reduced the price by $1,738, which is still $2,400/person & told me that I could never meet their special rates. BE VERY SURE YOU WON'T NEED TO CANCEL. I understand that I signed a paper saying the deposit was non-refundable - they were up front about that. However, we put a deposit down ($500), then made another large payment a few months later ($1000). Soon after that, my husband had a health issue that was very expensive and caused him not to be able to work for a while so we needed to cancel. This was still a year away from our travel. We were told we couldn't get any money back at first. After pleading our case, they agreed to return $600 (we paid over $1500 so far). After causing a fuss the owner decided to refund $1000. They had not done any work, had not made any reservations for the trip we had to cancel. After saying they would refund the $1000, it took 2 months and multiple emails to get the check. It ended up that they mailed it to the wrong address. They mailed it to the address on my driver's license but all the paperwork I sent in had our current address and they didn't check to make sure they were sending it to the right address. I guess my biggest complaint is making the deposit of $500 non-refundable and having to fight for the rest. I can see having a small amount non-refundable, but the entire $500 should be refundable if you cancel more than a year away from your trip when they had made no reservations yet and how hard I had to fight and how long I had to wait before I received a refund. read more

I can't recommend this company more!!!! They are AMAZING!!!! We took a 2 week trip to Australia for our honeymoon and they took care of everything! They handled all of our flights to.from the US and then all of our flights within Australia, we went to 3 different cities. We had cars/vans pick us up and drive us to our hotels and then back to the airports. Our hotels were top notch. I gave our travel agent Frank and idea of things we wanted to do while there and they handled booking everything and everything was centered around what we wanted to do. I looked at other companies before booking with About Australia and every other company was going to have us on giant tour groups of 40+ people, this was just us so we were free to do our own thing every day. The excursions we booked were unbelievable. We did a Koala Sanctuary, a Great Barrier Reef tour and snorkel, a Daintree Rainforest and Mossman Gorge Tour, a Sydney Opera House Tour, a hop on hop off Harbour River Cruise, and the Sydney Bridge Climb. Aside from the Opera House Tour and the River Cruise all of these excursions were over $100 per person the bridge climb is almost $300 per person. All of these were included in our total price. Now yes I realize that technically we paid for them but not having to pay for them "on site" or while we were traveling saved us BIG! We never would have been able to afford all of it if we had to pay while we were there. Any concerns or silly questions I had Frank answered and gave me all the information. Our visa applications were handled, all baggage fees were taken care of. Our hotels were amazing. And 2 out of 3 had free laundry facilities in our room. 2 hotels had pools/hot tubs/saunas. Our final hotel had a full kitchen. If you are thinking of traveling to Australia...USE THIS COMPANY YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!!!! 10 stars!!!! read more
