I was recommended to go to Pauli's for lobster rolls. I had previously tried a lobster roll out in Westborough, and I was genuinely disappointed. This place redeemed whatever it was I had in Framingham. The place is pretty small. I just ordered at the counter, and the person taking my order was super friendly. Wish I got their name for a shout-out. There's not a lot of seating in the establishment; it feels like the place is meant for a very quick meal. FOOD: I got a hot buttered lobster roll and it came with a side of chips. I actually ran into the owner while I was there, and he had explained that their lobster rolls are unique in the sense that they actually toss their lobster meat in a pan with butter. As much as I wanted a hot buttered lobster roll the guy at the counter was raving about the chicken cutlet subs and he DELIVERED. These subs were a great price (for boston) and packed with flavor. First meal in Boston and we were looking for lobster rolls that were open at 9AM and Pauli's was it! A short drive from the airport through a small street but that early in the morning, we got parking right away. I found this spot on Yelp but when we arrived, I see that it was also featured on Guy Fieri's Diners, Dive-ins and Dives at one point. There's photos of the owners with famous folks along the walls. Inside is more of a take-out setting bu there is some seating within with small tables and bar seating along the front window. Food took about 10-15 minutes to come out and you pick your chips at the counter. We ordered the hot and cold lobster rolls and clam chowder. Our first rolls of the drip and these were good! The prices were a little steep, but in our New England journey, all the lobster rolls were around this price around $30. Lobster rolls are filled with 7oz of lobster on a grilled New England style hot dog roll. We got one cold and one hot version. The lobster was good, and had some bouncy meat portions. Cold was tossed in some mayo/lemon combo and the meat felt more dense (likely because cold). The bread itself was a fine vessel but you had to eat it relatively fast, could be more grilled in my opinion. Clam chowder was a medium thickness, and some clam pieces in there. Overall, I'm happy we picked this spot as our Boston lobster roll. Definitely a solid start to the copious amount of lobster we tried on this trip! read more

The roll I got had more shreds of lobsters and not chucks as stated in the menu. The shreds of lobsters would be more suited in chowder and not on a roll. As you can see from my pic, the lobster roll was not showcased. Since it was shredded, each bite taken ended up having shreds falling off. It was lacking appreciation and visible signs of quality. I opted to Grubhub my lunch on a chilly afternoon. I ordered the skinny vinny and some clam chowdah. Delivery was super quick, but the order was messed up. I got a chicken wrap instead. Sucked arse, but at least Grubhub reimbursed me for the sandwich. The wrap was pretty salty with type of caesar dressing they used plus the grated parm cheese. The chicken itself was okay. Kind of ruined my lunch as I was looking forward to the vinny sandwich and not some basic chicken wrap. I would def not order the chicken caesar ever....the clam chowdah on the other hand was pretty delicious. The food is amazing. I had the Hot lobster roll and it was the best I have had. And we come here once a year and try new ones every time. The lobster tasted super fresh and the buttery roll was a huge plus. My buddy had the steak bomb and and it was huge and very good. The price for what you get is excellent. They staff is friendly and helpful. It does get pretty busy so don't expect them to cater to your every question. With that it is a small shop so there are only a few seats. Away from the hustle and bustle of quincy market/faneuil hall et al. It's next to a very popular, more high-end restaurant called Neptune which had a 1+ hour wait line. It's a bit grungy, there are maybe 10 stools here where you can have a quick bite. They have a $29.99 lobster roll (hot or cold) and a clam chowder ($7 or $12 sizes). I just wanted a quick bite to eat so had the clam chowder - it was so good I had a second bowl. The quality control is not so good because the second bowl had wayyy more clams and potatoes than the first one but they were both very, very delicious. None of that fishy taste or smell that most clam chowders come with. They wrap your clam chowder in a ton of plastic wrap even if you're eating in which I didn't appreciate - seems like an awful waste of plastic. The oyster crackers were delicious. read more

The restaurant space is very small, with some bar stool seating, no tables. No problem, I knew that from the Yelp reviews anyway.
