The short: if I could give this guy six stars, I would. The long: Here's the deal. I'm a pretty laid back guy. When service isn't optimal, I'm not going to complain too loudly, mainly because it just doesn't matter enough and because everyone has an off day. I give a lot of four star reviews. But to impress me? That takes work. Especially when it comes to cars. I'm an automotive enthusiast and I know my way around an orbital buffer. I can do the detailing myself and I usually do because I hate paying the money for subpar work. However, I found myself with a Porsche that really needed a full workup and neither the time nor the inclination to put in the hard work to do it right. I started looking for mobile detailers here on Yelp -- and found Donavin. My other half was skeptical. She's as much a car nut as I am and she even said, "look, we'll just take a saturday off and do it together." In case I didn't mention, she also knows how to professionally detail a car. She pointed out -- rightfully so -- that most of the other five star reviews were done by people who are used to a $40 car wash at Genie being "high end" and it doesn't take much to impress people like that. Plus, it's a Porsche, and it had some really deep swirl marks that were going to take a professional to get out. She made a good point. I still made the appointment. At the rates Donavin was charging, I figured if it was just as good as my average detail, it was money well spent. If it was better, then I just got the deal of the century. Let's just say that I'm impressed. Donavin charges far too little for his services. I know how hard he had to work and know the work he did, and you're not going to get that kind of work anywhere else for less than double what he's charging. Donavin works hard, he's exceptionally honest, does a fantastic job, and is a really nice guy who's easy to talk to. You couldn't ask for more. Still, when I had some minor issues with the job, he came right out to fix them. Let me stress these were exceptionally minor nitpicks that would have only been an issue if I had paid $500 for the detail. The only reason I brought them up at all is because he called me to see if there was anything he missed. The final punctuation point on this is that my girlfriend -- the skeptical one -- immediately signed him up to do her two cars. My mother is in the process of selling two vehicles, one eight years old and the other 15, and both were long overdue for some TLC. Since Yelp rarely does me wrong, I popped on and discovered all the raves for this place. I was also impressed by the fact that they would not only do the detailing at your own home, but also use only a couple of gallons of water. They showed up, as a twosome, at 7:45am sharp and were still working when my mom had to leave nearly 11 hours later for a function! I inspected the handiwork the next day, and the level of improvement was downright shocking. Even the 15-year-old car looked like it'd been freshly painted, and all of the minor scratches it'd accumulated over the years had been buffed out. Both cars have leather seats, and both had a combined 23 years of grime and wear sucked out almost like magic. Their $150-$250 prices quoted on their Web site (my mom paid $150 for her roadster and $180 for her small SUV) might seem pricey to the bargain hunters out there, but compare them to what you'd pay at someplace like The Finish Line in Westlake; I've had cars detailed there for the same price range, but for a fraction of the results. Scratches on the wife's Prius are now a thing of the past. I found Donavin's service on Craiglist after not finding the best reviews here. I thought I'd give him a try - I liked his ad. He came out a couple days later to look at my wife's car. On the phone he gave me a range, and I immediately thought the worst - seems most service providers don't get it. But for the minor scratches and slight stains on the seats on a compact car, he said it would be the low end. I was pleased, shocked and happy all at once. We scheduled with ease and he came out one day when the wife was working from home. To have my lady say "he's super nice, friendly and is doing a top job" is the biggest compliment a service provider can get. She also mentioned her car looked as good as the day we drove it off the lot. I agree, he made it look super fine. He also followed up with suggestions for a windshield repair (small chip started) and sent an email to ask me how he did. A+ service. I really like this guy and would recommend him to anyone. The cost he quoted me was extremely reasonable. They arrived on time, and set up at 7:30 am. They worked on the car until 3:30, and dealt with the building management in a very professional manner. They did an awesome job on my car. It was extremely dirty, based on years of hard use as both a kid carrier and a rural run-about. They do a great job by thoroughly going over the interior and exterior multiple times making sure everything is cleaned. Debris in the creases in the trunk and doors were gone, the carpets were spotless, marks/scratches removed, any odor gone, and windows and instrument panel streak free. The exterior of the car gets washed by hand and looked over from every angle possible to get the ultimate shine. Another reason I used them was because they only use two gallons of water to wash your entire car, saving a bunch of water compared to other detailers. We have an old Honda CR-V that suffered from years of neglect and just wanted to get it restored back to its former glory and Donavin certainly did not disappoint! I called Above and Beyond based on the great ratings here on Yelp. Donavin returned my call and set up an appointment to clean my '98 Isuzu Trooper at my apartment complex. My car has survived two kids, way too many spilled drinks and McDonald's meals. I regularly wash it and clean it out, but the car was looking very tired. It was time for a major cleaning. Donavin said he would be there at 9:00 am and showed up right on time. He worked on my car from 9:00 am to around 5:00pm when it started to drizzle outside. He said he still needed another couple of hours, but he didn't want to clean the car and then have it rained on, so asked if he could come back and finish it the next day. Donavin showed up again at the scheduled time and worked for two more hours. I didn't think it was possible a 13 year old "mom car" could look this good, but my car looks perfect. This is not the kind of detailing you get at H2O or one of those local car washes. This really is "Above and Beyond" car detailing. I almost hate to let my kids back in the car it looks so good. After an absolutely atrocious experience with Genie car wash, I felt so lucky to have the privilege of having Donavin detail my car. Donavin spent probably 7 hours on my car, and even my neighbors commented on how much time and attention he gave my car, commenting that it looked like it had just rolled off the assembly line and was ready for the showroom floor. Donavin completely made our 2015 Jeep Renegade brand new again. Literally looked like it was driving off the lot when he was finished.
