I received a call from a pleasant sounding woman who said they had installed a cap on my chimney that they found was getting blown off and causing damage to the house. I explained I do NOT ever recall getting anyone to do this. She was very emphatic that they did several years ago, and this recall inspection was free of charge. I even began to suspect that it may've been done by our builder. Fortunately, I smelt a scam in the works and now after seeing these other reviews, I can't believe they haven't been arrested. Called them for a clogged flue that was allowing carbon into a new house we had just bought. They did shotty work at best and left a mess behind. They coerced me to get a skim coat of concrete on our chimney. It took 2 weeks for them to finally come back to do that work, they left parts undone and left half a bag of concrete on the ground when they left. They re-sleeved the chimney and promised yearly cleanings for 10 years. After that I can only assume they added my phone number to a block list as I've been unable to get anyone on the phone in 4 years of calling and leaving messages. Call anyone else, absolutely anyone else. They use hard selling tactics and don't deliver anything worth buying. read more

Would give no stars if that were an option. They lure you through a solicitation phone call to inspect your cap for free. They come and say my chimney is collapsed. I said this is what I was afraid of. Put cap on and come down. Before, he feigned friendliness, when he saw he wasn't getting a sale, he became rude and insulting saying I should listen when someone says something is wrong. This shows your deceit and mercenary nature with no compunction to scam people. If you would have remained pleasant and said it's up to you. Get another opinion and call us if you change your mind, that would have left a positive impression with me. Used this company for a chimney repair as a second opinion. The first company came and told me I needed a liner in my chimney and left me an estimate. When Above the Rest maintenance came, they told me I did not in fact need a liner after all - they said all I needed was a two foot section of terra cotta and a cap. They saved me $1500!!!!!! They could have also sold me for $1800 but they were completely honest with me. I So highly recommend them to anyone. My experience was nothing short of great. read more

Stay far away from this company. 2 reps came to my elderly mother's house said they were checking Chimneys in the area after recent storms. Proceeded to climb up and knocked bricks off the chimney and then come down and said she needed it to be repaired. This company came in as a second choice after my original estimate. They were on time and very professional. They went over and above to fix my problem and my Chinney looks new and amazing. The best part is they saved me money because they were cheaper than my first estimate. They solicited me by saying they wanted to check my chimney cap as they were receiving reports from customers that the caps were being blown off chimneys due to the high winds the area was experiencing and since they were in the area, they would check the cap for free. Two men came over and got on the roof, they immediately stated that my chimney had a bunch of loose bricks and started dismantling my chimney! They then proceeded to throw bricks off my roof (I own a 2 story house) which were dropping around by gas main and on my deck. When I protested all they said was that the bricks had to come off the roof. When they finally came down, they quoted me a price that started at $7,000; but because it was Christmas, he would do it for $3,000, $500 to $1,000 of which he needed in cash immediately. I suggested that homeowners might cover some of it and called to inquire, however, he asked to speak to the insurance rep himself and lied to them outright about the cause of the damage (I called the insurance rep later to explain what really happened) saying the chimney damage was caused by recent storms. He got very agitated when I refused to give him the cash and asked him to leave. They came in and unmarked blue dodge pickup truck license plate ending in 4779 with a ladder hanging out the back. I submitted a police report. Also, they're using a company called Carla's Occasion to call people. So if you get a call from 516-647-2808 it's a SCAM! Lastly the guy doing all the yelling and screaming had something unusual about one of his eyes. Lastly, this company did not install my chimney cap, I did, years ago. DO NOT USE! read more

A very rude; demanding woman called my house at 7pm; my wife answer the phone and she was telling her that we have to maintain our chimney and monoxide once a year; and the they work with the fire department and we have to this maintenance; my wife was afraid once she mentioned it has to be done because they work with the fire department; once I get on the phone I asked her why she keeps mentioning the fire department and why we HAVE to do it for $25 she hang up. I called back and my call was ignore; finally she answered it telling me to go away. How come the city and state can protect families from this kind of harassment. You don't have to be a genius to find out that something is not right: They will send 2 guys to work on a chimney for $25? They used as a bait; because then they will "find" something that will cost you hundreds of dollars. Please if you get phone calls from this company; report them maybe something can be done to prevent families to be harass at home specially when is dinner time. read more

I was referred to "Above the Rest Maintenance " by a friend, who had a good experience with this company's work. I had not had my chimney cleaned in a couple of years, and was concerned about build up. They arrived at the appointment time. I found the men to be courteous, and knowledgeable. The main technician took the time to explain what they were doing. He said that all I needed was a chimney sweep, and other than that, my chimney was in good shape. A few weeks back - I get a cold call from this company about a special $30 promotion to clean the chimney. I agree since we have not had it looked at since getting the house. Their appointment window was from 9am to 12pm - they showed after 2pm. Within 2 minutes of reviewing the boiler he said we had major problems and that he was saving my family's life. $14000 to reuild the chimney.The price then changed to $2600 for an overhaul. As the price continued to fall for a minimum level to ensure my life and the life of my family, I grew concerned as to whether this was all unnecessary. When I asked for a quote so I can get other opinions< i was told that the gas company would have to be contacted since this was a gas leak and too dangerous to leave unresolved. I demanded that they put it back the way they found it, and helped the assistant (seemed like a decent guy) put it back together again. I gave him the tip - since he did the work. $30 for some vacuuming and the putty to reseal the chute. Avoid this company. Use a referal from a friend or co-worker instead. read more
