They're informative, show you what's important, what to look out for during your driving tests, and any habits you need to either make or break! What really helped me the most was their optional payment to pick you up an hour before the test; Although it costs a lot of money to do so, being able to drive through both the DMV routes will help you know what to expect & to ease into driving right before the exam! Most importantly, I will repeat again, the instructors are very patient. In just four lessons and a total of eight hours, I was able to cover all basics thanks to this amazing driving school! If you want to learn driving and have a good shot at passing, I absolutely recommend this. Believe me, I was the least confident about my driving abilities before this, but I was able to pick it up very quickly!

She would sometimes arrive late to pick my daughter up and occasionally drop her off before the lesson was supposed to end -- at one point, about 30 minutes early. My daughter also had a little difficulty understanding her because of her accent, though she was always kind and patient. On the positive side, this was one of the cheapest driving schools we could find, and in the end, my daughter did get her license.

However, when attempting to access the course materials on June 17, 2026, I discovered that the login functionality was no longer available on the website. I contacted the school that same day and engaged in several text exchanges over the subsequent days. According to their representative, Drea Carter, the business migrated to a new course provider approximately three months ago without providing prior notification. Although Ms. Carter provided contact information for the old provider, my attempts to reach them were unsuccessful. When I informed Ms. Carter of this lack of resolution, she stated that the business was unable to offer further assistance. As City of Trees Driving School has accepted my payment, I expect the business to honor its contractual obligations. While I previously requested either course access or a refund, I am now formally requesting a full refund of the purchase price.

Randy was patient, tailored lessons to the skills that I wanted to work on (e.g., parking, driving on freeways, etc.), and taught me great techniques for parallel parking and parking in parking lots. He passed on his first try for his driving test with only 2 errors (errors were - "don't make too short / wide of a turn" and "don't under steer"). All communications with the driving school was done thru emails only, which I didn't mind. I prefer to keep track of all conversations via email in case I need to reference back to something. Each driving session that my son completed, I received an email showing what they worked on and how he did. Would I recommend the school? Yes, and definitely book with Ken. Side note - As a parent, I watched where my son drove each time by keeping track of him on my iPhone using the "Find my Friend" app. P.S. - I originally book my son's first 2 hours with another school, didn't get a good feedback. There are limited trucks available at this location but it is a convenient location to pick up a truck if you live in the Elk Grove area and need to move. The truck has a flat rate and mileage is additional so it would be beneficial to be closer the pick up/drop off location. It is a smaller business so patience is virtue.

I rented a truck from them once just to move a couple of beds from my mom's house back to our house in Elk Grove. I thought they were the closest and returning it would be easy. Too bad I was wrong and the beginning of a nightmare. The truck they rented to me was big enough to do the job but incapable of doing it. Thank God the truck died just before making it to my mom's house. I called to tell them their truck died, but they basically said that since I rented it, it was MY responsibility. I had to babysit it or find some way to get it back to them. After giving up on moving that weekend, I decided to just limp it back, even though it sounded like the engine was going to explode at any minute. After an hour of driving it back to them, five miles, I finally gave this back to them. They didn't even try to give me a free rental to make up for their horrible rental. They sucked so bad I really wished Yelp allowed us to either post 0 stars or another symbol to warn other Yelpers! As for their Diving shop, I wouldn't want to venture a guess much less trust them with a life supporting breathing apparatus. Avoid these clowns at all cost!
