The grounds are beautifully preserved, with a nice community garden. Hit or miss, sums it up for the cleanliness of the entire place, especially the bathrooms. Even their most expensive room offerings are lackluster, with stained linens and sheets covered with dust. Alas, the property has it's history, and it's longtime followers. The yoga studio for what it's worth needs a MAJOR upgrade. For this place to be called, "The Yoga Society of New York," the actual yoga studio is less than impressive. On top of it's hospitality instability, (good luck getting help checking in when their office is closed), the long time followers/staff can be seen bickering and exhibiting quite strange personal dynamics. This is actually what I observed more than occasionally, and experienced interpersonally, during my few solid weeks stay there. Things of this nature absolutely do not lend towards the courtesy for guests, human beings, or even provide a genuine yogic experience for their visitors! By the way, if you're a halfway decent youngish looking woman, be prepared to be suggestively and explicitly bothered by the creepy male manager there. He's beyond what anyone can call appropriate with his social antics ... On another Note, Need extra towels? Forget about it! Good coffee, nope! Fake smiles, got those! Bugs in the sheets? Yep, them too. And last but not least, Actual Covid- Positive yoga teachers still teaching with Covid... This is Real Truth, Not lies. Not sure if this aptly describes YOUR version of "Bliss"... but if it does Merriam Webster will need an update on the definition stat!! You're better off at Omega, Om Shanti.

You must obtain a Clarkstown resident ID card first at the registration office at 31 Zukor Road in New City. (The pool won't simply accept a driver's license.) Rates can be either daily or seasonal for individuals or family, and are very reasonable compared to similar community pools.

It's no exaggeration that these monsters from the deep probably kept a legion of child psychiatrists in full time employment. On a recent visit it was nice to see that the previous snake-ridden den of iniquity has long been been replaced with a legitimate pool and that the mythological beasts of years past have been slayed by chlorine and actual cement walls. You can even see right to the bottom. What a concept. This is what Nanuet Lake should have been like all along... no thanks whatsoever to my parents who thought this was some tough love version of Shangri La, albeit minus the all consuming bliss one often finds in paradise. I kid about my parents (almost) and am happy to bestow five easy stars for a childhood reclaimed. I still hate snakes.

Couple of morons were camped out on the dock and screwed up everyone else's put in/take out routine. No surprise to see the NJ and NY registrations on their PWCs. While coming back in, 3 idiots on PWC's came screaming past us in the no wake zone to "beat" us to the ramp, then they sat there blocking one side of the launch. One fellow asked nicely if they could move over just a bit so he could launch his pwc and he got snapped at by one of the tattoo queens... "we're leaving in a couple of minutes". Definitely will not go back here on a weekend anytime soon. Very sad because it never used to be like this.

However, they have multiple trails, with the red one being one of the easiest routes as it's mostly flat. The red trail rams you to the lake which is absolutely beautiful! We were here on a Sunday for an all-day experience, and we noticed that it was pretty well-trafficked - lots of hikers everywhere! But not enough to be considered crowded. All in all, we had an amazing experience!! Would definitely recommend, especially in the fall season. Heads-up: the visitor center closes at 5pm and therefore the restrooms close at 5pm. We learned this the hard way after returning from our hike!

I discovered Absolute Yoga almost two years ago. I came from a 4 day a week gym routine, and though I knew I liked yoga, I was not sure if I could picture myself doing it full time. Now I can't imagine my life without this studio! The vibe of the studio is focused yet totally unpretentious, making it a comfortable place for beginners to seasoned practitioners. The variety of classes offers something for everyone while contributing to the open minded feel of the studio. I primarily participate in Leslie's Anusara classes and have also felt very lucky to be able to balance that practice with Yin yoga and Restorative yoga classes. The Anusara classes are amazingly transformative at whatever level you choose to absorb them. I have learned tremendous amounts about alignment, both physical and energetic. The class themes are thought provoking and profound, and are humanely delivered by Leslie in a very clear, accessible, and sometimes playful manner. My experiences at this studio have given me fewer aches and pains, more self acceptance, deeper self knowledge, and more wisdom to handle life's challenges off of the mat. read more

Absolute Yoga is an exceptional studio. It's immaculate, the staff is helpful and the people are very friendly. I have been attending classes for the last 2 and 1/2 years. Leslie, who is the owner and also a terrific teacher, has assembled a group of very talented professionals. There are classes for all skill levels. You can check out their website for the class descriptions and schedule. Note: all new members can attend classes free for the first week. In case you're wondering, I have no financial interest in the studio. I started yoga late in life and I would encourage others, particularly older adults to try it. Practicing yoga and pilates has helped me manage and improve my overall physical condition .My lower back and hamstrings are more flexible; my posture has improved; I'm physically stronger and I now measure 1 inch taller at the doctor's office. I credit these changes to the practice of yoga and pilates, and the skill and teaching abilities of my very talented instructors. read more

I was seeking to take pre-natal yoga classes and Absolute Yoga was recommended to me. Upon entering the establishment my first impression was great. Everything was very clean, the decor was very nice and studios were spacious and well designed. Having minimal, previous experience I found the class to be engaging, productive and challenging enough to keep my interest without making me feel frustrated or "out of sorts." I am absolutely in love with Absolute yoga. I will never go anywhere else. Both studios (they have two) are impeccably decorated, clean and inviting. They offer many classes each day. This is a great yoga studio. I've been to some hot and crowded studios and this is not one of them. Very comfortable and excellent teachers. I take the Prenatal class which has been amazing for my body, mind and confidence about labor/delivery and motherhood. The owner teaches the class and is wonderful, very patient and always willing to answer questions or help out in any way. Really a family atmosphere, I highly recommend this studio. read more

I love Absolute Yoga. There are many types and levels of yoga offered, there is something for everyone. I've been attending for over two years and every class is exceptional. The instructors are helpful and the students are friendly. On Sunday nights there is a community class where the instructors donate their time and the money collected for class goes to a local charity. To me, this is real yoga. read more

Ann Marie is such a warm, engaging, easy-going person and she sets the tone for the studio. It is a relaxing, welcoming space and I instantly remembered how much better it is to practice in a studio versus having a home practice. Ann Marie is extremely knowledgable about yoga and how the human body works. She works hard to make sure that everyone is using what props they need to benefit from the practice given their individual bodies. She does a fantastic job of pacing her instruction.
