I absolutely love Absolute Zero! Their options are so unique, fun, and tasty! I have not had a bad thing there. The ice cream is one size but it usually ends up being a delicious monstrosity- as I like to call it. So many toppings allowed to already great Thai Rolled Ice Cream! I can't pick a favorite flavor and it's great that they have staples and seasonal favorites. I usually go for the ice cream, but the Japanese (gf if you don't get the ones with cookies or pocky in it) crepes that come sweet or savory, drinks (especially if you go for their special light up, reusable, refillable, lightbulb receptacle that comes with a travel cap when not in use) and their specialty "Dragon's Breath" are so fun and tasty! Absolutely worth the stop into this little shop! The guy who is behind the counter is always friendly and quick. The inside is quaint and has nice music going on. When I got my light up drink, they had slight (not obnoxious) rave cover music and it went with the light show in my drink! When my friend told me there was Thai rolled ice cream in Northampton, I dragged him here on a Sunday night. To begin... the entire shop is penguin themed. It's deliciously tacky in the funniest ways. You can buy penguin stuffed animals, there are penguin lights, and penguin signs that say "slowly, one by one, the penguins steal my sanity." Ohio isn't super hip to the rolled ice cream trend yet, so I don't have much to compare to, but I found Absolute Zero to be a delightful experience. I love watching them handroll your ice cream. Dan (I think that was his name), was super chatty and drew our names in syrup to make us laugh (yes, I'm fully aware we're grown adults, it was just cute). The staff were really pleasant and made the vibe enjoyable. I love how the ice cream is a flat price, and you can add as many toppings as you like. Dan was really careful with making our ice creams. They were almost too pretty to eat! Yes, its a little expensive, but you're paying for quality. The Thai ice cream itself tastes different than regular ice cream. One other got coffee ice cream with cookies, chocolate chips and chocolate sauce and whipped cream. Lastly was the miss nilla wafer all three were delicious. We even ordered one to bring home. My friends and I ordered a "green super giant," "don't thai me down", and a "strawberry shawty" thai rolled ice cream. Make sure to add condensed milk as a topping as it makes the flavors burst in your mouth a little more. My favorite was the "don't thai me down" but they were all delicious. The first Thai Rolled Ice Cream in the Valley, that I am aware of! Stopped in after a late dinner at Filos. As we were walking down the street we spotted the sidewalk light, and decided to stop in! This is seriously dessert with a show. The guys rolling the ice cream were funny, and personable. The ice cream itself is delicious. Good flavors. The thing is, apparently, you order at the front part of the counter, and then pay, then follow your cups down the side where they make it for you, then a little father for the toppings. Grab your spoon and napkins up front, tho, before you make your way down. The rolled ice cream is made by pouring either soy or dairy milk onto a pan that's been cooled to -18 to -30 degrees, where it's combined with flavors and textures. It's manipulated with spatulas' that are more like drywall knives. These are also used to chop up any of the fruit or other flavorings into the cream. Once the cream and other flavors are combined, they spread the ice cream flat, let it solidify, and then roll it with the scrapers. I had the Key Lime which came with lime syrup and graham crackers. Then you can add whatever toppings you like. I added pocky, rainbow mochi, and chocolate syrup. The restaurant is very clean, and cute. read more

I love that they have organic soy milk as their base for a vegan option. It doesn't roll up to look as pretty as the cow's milk, but it tastes delicious. They told me they can't make #4 or #10 vegan or dairy free, but the others they can. If you're vegan or a knowledgeable dairy free person who obsessively reads nutritional labels like I do, you'll see many of the their other options are also not vegan... Pocky sticks, Nutella are two I remember. I'm sure they'll make your Ice cream without it as they're all add ons, just something to be aware of. Oh, and they have vegan coconut whipped cream! It was a two-employee show behind the counter and there were probably ten orders ahead of ours, which was the B-Day Delight. The wait was long, but once we got our order to share, decorated with rainbow mochi + sprinkles, I was shocked on how great it was. Like so much better and more memorable than my first time. We ordered another one right after and I swear to God it was better the second time around. Couldn't really tell you how it was different -- was it the store? was it the flavor choice? No extra charge for toppings, plus unbeatable quality makes the slightly high price perfectly reasonable. The freshest pocky sticks I've ever had in my life! I want to buy them in bulk from them. It's the perfect amount of ice cream so that you're satiated and happy, but not over full or bloated. Many ice creams make me feel queasy or uncomfortable after eating a lot, but I am yet to experience that feeling after from this place. It can take a hot minute to get your ice cream, but it's easy to understand why. I never mind, but i wouldn't recommend if you're in a rush. This was the first place I went to when I visited here. It was so cute and fun. The people were very nice and explained everything to me. My friends and I loved it. We got peach, caramel, and regular bubble tea. It so good I can back a second time to try the dragons breath for the first time and that was so cool and fun and much tastier than I expected. However, I am a bit of a milk tea snob and unfortunately this place did not live up to my expectation the second time around. Absolute Zero is overpriced because of it's lightbulb bottle. I'd rather pay for a cheaper milk tea that is actually decent tasting (which I've had plenty of). The jasmine milk green tea disappointed me because it had a strange flavor I couldn't quite put my finger on to describe. All I know is that it definitely wasn't a jasmine flavor. However, the boba tasted fresh and chewy. Lastly, although it doesn't affect their rating, when I came here last weekend the place smelled strangely of body odor, but I believe it may have been the detergent they were using because I could even smell it all the way in the back where the bathroom was. Fun experience getting ice cream at Absolute Zero. We got 2 ice creams (the Key Lime and the Banana Nutella) for $15. Everything is the same price ($7.50) and that's the only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5. The ice cream was good, it's not as sweet as I thought it would be, it's fun to watch them make your choice, you get a pretty decent sized portion (took me about 20 minutes to eat it), the staff is friendly and really into giving you a good experience. You can have as many extras added to your ice cream as you like (berries, cereals, Pocky, whipped cream, different flavored sauces, etc) for no extra charge but $7.50 is a painful price even for Northampton. $6.50 would have been more reasonable, in my opinion. When I compare the ice cream to someplace like Herrell's I think the experience is just as enjoyable but more expensive for a comparable size. However, I am planning on going back because I'd like to try some of the other flavor combos. read more

However, yesterday after being in Northampton for an appointment, it was short 7 minute walk away. there were 2 workers. I walk in and the guy who took my order was already rude. The guy who took my order brings me a different crepe. I usually am not one to complain, but I know what I asked for and this was not the crepe. I apologized and went up to the counter and politely apologized and explained I had ordered a different crepe. (Literally all of the ingredients were different.) the other employee even said "yeah I thought you said the other one, that's why I took those ingredients out for it, I'm not sure why he made you this one when I had everything set up for him.." he goes to the back to ask the guy who took my order what kind of crepe he made and he explained to him what happened and I hear "ARE YOU KIDDING ME". He rushed out, grabbed the crepe from my hand and then stormed towards the trash can and threw it in there and went to the back. Didn't apologize for him messing up my order.. didn't even talk to me directly.. The other employee was very nice and made my crepe without any issues. I really feel like if the nice employee wasn't there I would have given this review 1 star on my experience. It's sad to say but I don't think this will be a pit stop for me anymore when I'm in the area. I'm pretty sure he is the owner too, so I'm very disappointed in the way that he acted.
