When this place first opened I was happy to give it a try and was extremely disappointed by the quality of the beers. A couple weeks ago I decided to give them another try. It's sad to say but the beers still just aren't good. I was amazed the place was so crowded. I honestly wanted to slap everyone in there and ask them what happened to their tastebuds. There was a brown beer called "Mad Monk" I believe,which I assumed would be a Belgian double but it was just a brown ale that any home brewer could make. They also have some bourbon barrel aged hoppy beers which absolutely don't work..... I'm not actually sure why I am giving them two stars instead of one....I'm being generous. Craft beer has now got so trendy and popular that even a place like this can stay in business but that just shows the amount of people out there that can't differentiate a good beer from a bad one... read more

I was impressed with the variety of great beer offered here. The tap tasting room has a sweet vibe and they have food trucks on the weekends. My favorite is Roveys Turkey. They also have some fantastic nonalcoholic drinks like cream soda and root beer. The cream soda was the beat I've ever had! The staff is friendly and make you feel like and old friend. First discovered this place the day after their opening, so unfortunately they were sold out of most of their options. They drastically underestimated the crowd they would have, which in my opinion is understandable, and having too many people show up is not that bad of a problem for a brewery. That said, the options they do have are very good. I'm glad that finally some place seems to not be stuck in the same SoCal OMG NEED HOPS rut that so many other places are. I'm sure some people love their IPAs, but not everyone does. I'm one of those people that don't. However, the way they make their beer, which is a bit less carbonated than American beers, being more similar to an English-style, even I like their IPA options (one more than the other) and it has become my beer of choice there. They have now got a hef on tap, which also ranks pretty high on my own scale of likeness. The crew that work there are great, and seem to honestly be interested in getting to know the people that show up. I've been to all of the Torrance breweries and these guys are the best (they just need a coffee porter like Smog City to have everything I'd want). They're still working on resupplying the beers they sold out of, and expect to have a new one on tap every week or two up until they're all back. Definitely worth coming back to see what new option(s) will be available. Also, the sodas they brew are top notch (cream soda and root beer). read more

Went here with the hubby after taking the chance and buying a Groupon. We are very familiar with most of the breweries in the Torrance area and love them all, so we thought "here's a place we've yet to make it to...What could go wrong?" The beer here was mediocre at best... Everything was very bitter and just had the same "blah" taste to it. I could't quite put my finger on it, but it's almost like the water they use was just not cutting it, or that the yeast and hops they used just weren't bursting with the flavors you expect from a craft brewery. Especially considering the mecca of amazing breweries that are right in that area, I was expecting much more from them. They have so many beers on tap that I think they are just spreading themselves too thin (as stated by many others), and they don't really seem to even know what their own niche is. The only two beers (out of literally about 20, and we tried 'em all thanks to the Groupon we bought and we shared our samples with each other so we could get a good feel of everything) that we enjoyed were The Convert (a CA common lager) and the Trespasser (saison), but even still, we've had better at places literally down the road from here. The environment was of course cool (if you know what to expect with craft breweries), good amount of space and free chips to munch on in addition to a food truck outside (not free, but reasonably priced), but these are all standards at craft breweries these days. They had some great tunes playing and a few T.V.'s and I believe they allow dogs into the brewery (but again, this is pretty standard). They have what appear to be old church pews to sit at while drinking, and everything is very clean and organized. It is light, bright, and airy, and was one of the redeeming factors of this place. There were multiple bartenders, but only one was actually a decent guy who was friendly and helped us out. The others were rude, standoff-ish, and definitely gave off a vibe that they were just there to pour drinks, not really chat about the beer or anything for that matter. In fact, the first guy who came up to us asked what we would like, we explained we had a Groupon and he literally just walked away and didn't talk to us/help us at all! A new bartender walked up and he was the one guy who was very friendly and gave us great service. We tried to tip only that guy, but because he is awesome he still put the hefty tip we gave him into the large tip jar for all of the bartenders... Which made us even more positive he deserved it, since he was obviously such a nice guy lol! Overall though, our experience was disappointing and we actually went to a different brewery afterwards to get the bad taste of this one out of our mouths, and we had a much better experience at the other brewery. I hope Absolution works on their flavor profiles for their beers, figures out what their beer identity is (if they want to do 20 beers that's fine, but they better all be darn tasty!), and get better people working behind the bar, otherwise I cannot see them staying around for too long when they have some hefty competition literally just down the road. read more

Just tried and definitely going back! Dozens of beers for every taste. Super unique flavors across the board. And not just IPAs. The Groupon was great. Unlike Dudes Groupon they allow you to pick the beers in your flight tasting as well as the six packs you get to go. Server was friendly and informative and very comfortable environment. Football playing on TVs (AF -Navy crowd that day). Dog and kid friendly. Will be back for sure! read more

Scott took care of me and my friend with complete compassion and warm hospitality. Everyone was attentive and welcoming, with an atmosphere that matched. Beer was phenomenal, especially for the price. Most at $5 a glass, or you can get a flight of 4 or 6 (I got the six for only $10). Scott even let me have an extra 4oz to understand the difference between on nitro and regular CO2. And they fixed that flight problem someone here mentioned, by adding poker chips to exchange for the next beer in a flight. Will come back again and again, do not miss. read more

This brewery is great! I got the Groupon and came here with my brother for his 21st birthday. The staff wasn't that friendly though. The gentleman working the bar was eating his burger, didn't wipe his hands and proceeded to serve is beer with dirty hands. Found this pretty unprofessional for this line of work. Can't remember the last time I was this disappointed in a new brewery. Seemed to be genuinely nice people, but as a brewer I would be embarrassed to pour this beer to my friends. Some of my absolute favorite beers in the South Bay! Steve and Nigel are knowledgeable and friendly! I had a blast getting to know them and hear them talk about their craft. Pizza oven truck outside definitely didn't hurt either. Bathrooms were clean, lots of beer to choose from, and they offer a great beer tasting deal. Their beers are delicious and different. We even went back later that day for a few growlers because we loved them so much. I cannot wait to go back and I am counting down the days until their grand opening! These are the guys to watch when it comes to rising stars in the South Bay/LA craft beer scene!! read more

The beers, not good, the staff on a Sunday, not what I'd call good, location, not good, the price is top tier but the glasses are smaller than most, and I think the worst part is the beer wasn't really anywhere near approaching cold. Jeff and I love Absolution! We like the new soft lighting with lamps on the bar, and even though its in a warehouse, it now has warmth with the lights and heating lamps. Jeff likes trying the new beer selections that they offer, but my fave and go-to beer is Cardinal Sin. We had an event there last weekend with a live band and catering by one of the food trucks, Baritz. The whole evening was fun and very successful! I've been to the other Torrance breweries and I would recommend this place for those who like trying different types of beer. They do tasting flights and I would say get a flight of every beer on tap (I think like 13?) and share with a friend or two (unless nobody needs to drive home, in which case, you might be able to drink them all yourself). Their IPAs are solid and their servers are friendly. I didn't care for some of their beers, but that's what tastings are for--to find the ones you do like and order more of it. I love breweries that do their own root beer, so Absolution gets a plus for that (my fav root beer in which I compare all root beer to is Mammoth Brew Co root beer). They also have cream soda. Care went into presentation of the Absolution tasting room and for some reason reminds me of some of the breweries in SD. The few times I've been, they always had a food truck on site which is cool (although we brought in our own sushi from S-mart down the street). read more

I'm a huge craft beer fan, I also home brew so I know how hard it is to make good beer. This place makes great beer. I had never heard of this place, but I saw it had a Groupon. I figured " why not?", after all $25 for a tasting for 2 plus a growler fill is an amazing deal. Like I said, I'm a huge beer fan and have been to dozens of breweries, from the second my wife and I stepped in we felt that this was a good one. Yea, they don't have a kitchen, but it's a brewery not a restaurant. Most of the good ones I've been to don't serve food and have food trucks like they do here, I like it better. Anyways, the staff is super friendly, Steve made us feel like regulars. My wife was cold due to us just getting done playing football in the rain and Steve got her a heater, that's above and beyond! We tried 6 of the 9 regular pours and I love all but one, and I'd still give the one 4 outta 5 stars. They were out of big growlers due to the Groupon, so they gave us 2 half growlers, and let us mix them up. So we got to take 2 great beers home. The only thing bad about this place is its too far from my house. But you can bet that next time we are in the area we will be stopping by again! read more

We realized how diverse our Torrance Community is and the one commonality that we all shared was our love of handcrafted beer. This industrial location brought everyone together from Doctors to Indian Chiefs (good size groups show up just after 6:30 PM). Local Brewery in Torrance. Came here with a buddy for some beers. Interior was unique and was super excited to try their beers and fall in loooooooove~ I'm into mostly hoppy beers and most of the stuff here I tried here were very light or super ale-y. Of course I tried their IPA's but I've had better. If you like strong whiskey barrel aged ales this is the place. The pros is you can just get a taster so you don't have to commit to anything gnarly. They also have a BBQ style food vendor... kinda on the pricey side but it was still good! The cons were when we got there it was under construction so really loud.. I mean like machines and hammering, can't hear what you just said LOUD! Not the best way to spend your day off in the morning or best first impression. All in all... not the most memorable brewery. Maybe I'll stop by in the future if I'm in town and in need of beer but will not be going out of my way there any time soon! :/ read more

This was a great little find thanks to the beer tour, i didnt realize that brewery was literally in my backyard. the beer is great here, however they dont serve food, so bring a snack or start here and then move on somewhere else where they do have food or be there on a day when there is a kick ass food truck. Purchased a $30 groupon, which included six 4 ounce tastings and two 6 packs to take home. We tried 4 drinks and all of them were flat and lukewarm. The six packs taste much better, but would never go out of my way to buy them. Left without finishing the tastings and will probably not be back. read more
