Went by on a Friday evening not knowing anything about this place, and I was pleasantly surprised! I'm not a big beer drinker, so I can't vouch for the quality of their craft beers. But I do know what I like. I did the flight of 4 with some of their pale ales, and I liked them all. My favorite was Angel's Demise. Service was efficient, and the interior is really cool. It's a nice space to drink beer and hang out. The downside is there is no food!! I was starving when I got there, and it was a let down when all I could eat was their pretzels, argh. Did get a quick buzz though. I hear they usually have food trucks on Friday evenings, but did not have one last night. Also they told us we can bring our own food next time. Overall, a fun place, very affordable, and friendly people. We had 5 flight of 4, plus 3 full pours of beer, and it all came out to less than $50. I'd come back, recommend! read more

We had a fantastic time at this gem of a find! Hailey was our bartender and saw to it that we were very happy. The flights were 4/$8 or 6/$12. The pours were very generous. There is a lot of varieties of brews to choose from. The best part for fellow parents is that there is a game room that kept my son and other patrons' children occupied! Mr. Hubby and I got a surprise date and were able to sit back and relax. The room is a funky industrial setting. It's very appealing. I am not a huge beer drinker, so I tried both sodas. I really enjoyed their cream soda. It is the best cream soda I have consumed. It goes down super smooth. My son was a HUGE fan of it! Fellow patrons brought their own elaborate food spreads. I believe that this is the newest of the Torrance breweries, opened in 2014. Located in a commercial park just north of Torrance Blvd. near the courthouse. Came in late on a Sunday for the first time ever with my best friend. Six four ounce pours were a reasonable $10. Super wide variety, from fruity sub 4% ales to porters, stouts and a 9.6% double IPA. All were good. No dogs in the bunch. From a variety standpoint, there are more choices here than Strand, where they seem to focus more on higher alcohol IPAs. Cute church pew seating (get it?) but not much atmosphere otherwise. No music or munchies offered, but it's early days and likely to improve. No tap water oversight = minus one star. Cool staff. But this place had it where it counts: the beer is very good. Looking forward to my next trip. read more

There's no doubt the brewery scene has been booming all across Southern California, and it seems like a new one opens every month. Absolution is one of the more recent additions to the family of local breweries, having only been around for a few years thus far. That being said, they're growing as much as they can, while they can, where they can. I think they're doing an awesome job. The brewery is very open concept, on the smaller side so seating is a bit limited. They had a fair amount on tap though, and each beer we had impressed us. Service was friendly and fast, which can be hit or miss for some people in the beer world. That doesn't seem to be an issue Absolution has or will have, each bartender I came into contact with was amazing. My brother was curious as to whether or not they gave tours, so of course I had to ask. The bartender perked up immediately and happily agreed to take us around. Pretty much what you see is what you get inside, but it was still great to have him take us around and explain what's going on and what some of their plans for the future are. The people here have a passion for beer and for what they do, and that's an important piece in this business. I can't wait to go back, try more beer, and see how much they keep growing. This is my favorite brewery!!! The beer is ice cold and poured perfectly. The staff here are friendly and make you feel welcomed and apart of. I bought a Groupon for my husband for Christmas we used it 3 weeks ago and have cone every weekend since. They are dog and children friendly. They have a huge game room with 2 dart boards, foosball table, video game and board games. It has come to my attention that a brewery scene has been a-brewin' in the South Bay region within the last few years. Every so often I notice another has popped up, either through searches or when one of the Yelp buds' check-in. Therefore, anyone that thinks downtown is where it's at for beer - it's happenin right underneath your noses. Considering that I've been eager to try some of the breweries in the area, I placed Absolution on the list for my little day crawl in the South Bay. As is mainly the case, most of these are found in commercial areas, so finding them can be somewhat of a scavenger hunt, as some remain unobtrusive. Had a little trouble finding this one, but a little call got me headed in the right direction. Great thing is parking isn't a problem, eliminating the aimless wandering in search of a spot. The facility is pretty large and there is ample seating. My friend and I easily grabbed a chair at the tap counter and proceeded to place our orders. Loved that there weren't many people around on a Thursday afternoon because it really allows for a more intimate experience. The guy tending the counter was able to converse with us quite a bit, giving suggestions and even telling us about some of the beers and the season for some beers. Apparently, it's currently not stout season, so the stouts that are being served at some breweries are either mellow or old ones still being served. Good fact to know, as my friend is an ardent stout sipper, hence he got a useful tip to follow on his own beer hunts. The staff is cool and they appear to be knowledgeable about beer and their product. Currently, the beer selection is pretty solid and well-stocked with IPA's - one of my personal favs. Worth mentioning, is the way they serve their flights. You're given poker chips and basically cash 'em in (up to 2 at a time I believe) to request your next beers. As the server explained, to keep the beers from going warm - a true misfortune in my eyes. That's totally cool, and the first time I've ever seen this. If my memory serves me correctly (both because of time since my visit and possibly the blur from the beers I consumed that day), my pours were the Angel's Demise IPA, Fallen Archangel Imperial English IPA, Trespasser Saison, and Cardinal Sin Red Ale. All of which were robust with flavor. I did manage to sample some of the darker beers available - just a tiny sip - and they were pretty light. So I'll have to pay this place another visit in a few months, hopefully so I can find something a little more full-bodied. This is a great stop in my opinion. It might not absolve you from all your sins, but it might serve to forget them only temporarily, if at all. Given the severity, could just be worth your while. read more

Decided to stop into absolution brewery tonight with my girlfriend. The last time I was here was over a year ago, and to my recollection I was not extremely fond of their beers. I decided to give it another try, as I've heard a lot about the renovations and the new beers they have. To my surprise, I was immediately greeted with a warm welcome and excellent customer service. The beer tender Jake was extremely knowledgeable about all of the beers on tap and very helpful in helping my gf and I decide what we would like. Didn't like that they only let you taste one beer at a time but the bartender said it was to control the underage drinking. Just card everyone upon entrance; problem solved. Staff Knowledge: When going to a brewery I'm not looking to just enjoy their beer and my time there but to learn about their beers. The knowledge of their staff was beginner level. Absolve yourself from all sins with a holy beer. Torrance microbreweries are honestly the best. It's cheap, it's not crowded and it's very friendly all around. There's a plethora of options to choose from and the price for forgiveness is only about $6 per beer. So there's a whole lot of options, I had the Holy Ca-Cao which is a darker beer with some hints of cocoa. If I had higher tolerance I would have tried so much more or gotten a sampler but whatever, excuse to come next time. The brewery itself is very spacious though they have limited seating. Fortunately, Absolution is hardly crowded so finding a place to sit is not going to be a problem. The staff are also just some of the most chill out there. None of that grumpy dtla bartender vibe. I really love the fact they aren't like most local, SoCal breweries that have like 90% IPAs on tap. They actually have a great variety of beer, including Reds, Stouts, some Sours, and others. Staff is super friendly. Check their site for which, if any, food trucks will be on site. Overall, a fun way to spend a few hours. Only one word of warning, their outdoor tables don't have umbrellas, so bring a hat and some sunscreen. read more

They're one of my favorite brewery in South Bay. Do I need to say more? ;) As far as I tried, all of their beers are delicious. They never fail. Also they do have some experimental and unique events like pairing with popcicles, rare cask events, St. Patrick's Day, and so on. I like the atmosphere of the place. They do have a game room in the back and also they do have classic Nintendo! You can play or just simply watching someone play makes you feel like you're at your friend's place. They're dog friendly and all of the staffs are pretty nice. Their service is good. Their food trucks/vendors are pretty good too. Finding a parking spot is not hard. Located off Columbia St in Torrance in the industrial offices. This is one of those places where it's business is out of the warehouse connected to the office building. Kinda cool concept that businesses do you would not expect that when you think of a place to go have some brews. Mainly came here to support Evan Angelo's who had their cart set up next to the bar in a special event held here. There was also a band playing too. I'm not sure if on normal business time they have bands or not. Basically inside here there's one bar with a big screen tv and projected screen shot on the wall behind the bar. This is a cool place to hang out and have a brew I may have to come back again. Parking is not bad cause all the businesses are most likely closed by the time this place is opened because all the office buildings have posted signs about parking. Absolution is exactly what the community needs, a brewery different from the rest, simply by staying true to Old World techniques to achieve robust tasting notes of hops, spices, aromas and creamy mouthfeel, all without the excessive bubbly. This is the very essence of European-style Stout and Ale craft beers. But that's not all. At the same time they're also taking a creative direction to infuse new flavors to some of their beers. Combined with the subdued effervescence that they're going for, those new flavors will definitely come through with a presence. Genius. 1.) My Absolution 4-beer experience began with whiffing the roasted coffee-like aroma of their signature Stout which possessed a wonderfully frothy head and roasted spiced barley tasting profile. A well-balanced mouthfeel carried through and ended with a crisp clean finish. Excellent serving temperature. Carbonation is just right; any higher and the mouthfeel would've been wrecked. 2.) Next up was their Porter. This was the least of my favorite as I described the tasting note as slightly burnt smoky roasted malt. Lingering aftertaste is quite pleasant. Despite the beautifully deep reddish-brown hue, the body and mouthfeel felt slightly thin but my beer-tasting partner enjoyed this one in particular. Not a perfect Porter in my book but overall it's quite blissful and the carbonation is perfectly light. 3.) Third was a tasting of their Crimson IPA. A perfect balance of aromatic malty sweetness and hoppy bitters, combined with a rich head, smooth mouthfeel and a clean finish makes this beer the strongest contender of the 4. Usually I don't care for IPA's due to its inherent astringency but I'm hooked on Absolution's winning nuances. 4.) Final taste was a British IPA with its golden amber hue. Upon sipping, the beer took a turn by its prominent butterscotch malty sweetness which leans more to a Scottish style of Ale. The mouthfeel is rich and fairly heavy as expected from a sweeter brew. The creaminess was just a scosche over the top for both me and my beer-tasting partner. Nonetheless it's a smooth medium-heavy bodied beer, and by having this last in my 4-beer course seemed appropriate like having dessert at end of a 4-course meal. Naturally occurring top fermentation process yields subtle carbonation and thus smooth and robust beer tasting notes. If you like low-carbonation beers like traditional English Stouts, Bitters, Scottish/English Ales, true IPA's, Belgian-Style Lambic, etc., then Absolution is for you. Great prices too. I see some mixed reviews here. If you don't like these nuances, you should probably stick with American/German Lagers or commercialized beer, especially where modern factories artificially inject carbonation gases, if you like that fizz factor. read more

Loved loved loved the beers here. Absolution is impressive in that it is attempting a wide breadth of diverse beers. Last Sunday I had the most delicious beer of my life, called Rest in Peach, a peach blonde ale. Sometimes blondes have a bitterness to them that I don't care for, but this blonde is incredible! Very mild with a sweetness that is incredible. After I tasted it, I made everyone else at our table taste it too, and they all loved it! It was definitely the winner at our table. If I hadn't been so beered out by then, I would have bought an entire growler of it and taken it home. Another winner was the Strawberry Trespasser Saison. So so good! The boo thought it was cool that Absolution also does a non-alcoholic soda. He loved the Redeemer Root Beer, and I hear their Confession Cream Soda is delicious too. PURE PLEASURE, NO GUILT! AMEN TO THAT! Came here with some friends on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, and found myself in a whirlwind of awesomeness. The beer here is good, how do I know? I tried every single one. My favorites included: FALLEN ARCHANGEL NITRO DOUBLE IPA (Absolutely incredible beer), THE WICKED TRIPLE IPA (smooth enough to make you think you're drinking a normal IPA), and the Grateful RED. But have to say every beer here is good. Narrowing it down to my favorites was like asking me if I like wings or pizza more. The taproom was vibrant and instantly validated my decision to drive down from LA to come visit. They have numerous TVs around to catch the big game, as well as board games to keep you entertained. TO TOP THAT OFF, I put my business card in their drawing and ended up winning a free hat! Hell yeah! Now I can let everyone know where to go to find their craft beer ABSOLUTION. Holy cow. I was blown away by this brewery. I'll start with the tap room itself and then move on to the beer. So the tap room is freaking awesome, they have darts, they have Nintendo, mutiple TVs, jukeboxes, fooseball, mini jenga, and I'm sure more things that I didn't even realize. They are located in a random area but their doors are huge garage doors that make it feel just open and welcoming. Oh also side note our bartender was Monica who was later joined by someone I didn't catch the name of (I'm sorry Annie I remember now) and feel bad about that but both were freaking AMAZING. So knowledgeable about the beers as well as being just awesome wonderful entertaining human beings. Now for the beers themselves. 1st you can get a flight of 6 for 12 dollars!!!!! Are you kidding!?!?!? They were all delicious but a few standouts were the peach, the raspberry, and the pineapple stout. They weren't sours but had enough fruit flavors to make them Interesting. The pineapple stout was probably my favorite just cause I love stout and I love piña coladas. Overall my time at absolution was fantastic. It is too bad that some people judge a beer by its carbonation or expect all beers from all breweries to be the same style. I have had the fortune to try many of their beers and find each of them to have their own personality; as they should. Did they run out on opening day? Yeah, they introduced several small batches so people could see what is coming up. They currently have four "regular" brews available as they catch up to the demand. Watch for the Purgatory Hef, it is delicious. I found the Crimson to be a lot hoppier today than on opening day, but it is normal for beers to change as they get a little older. No body, not much hop, just kind of average and bland. Normally I'd get a sampler and then get a full pour of my fave, but I just left. The beers are good, it just wasn't anything too special or stand out. If you relly like IPAs this will be the place for you. Purgatory Hefeweizen had a bit of a water after taste. Holy Cow Milk Stout didn't taste milky, but the texture definitely was creamy. It was still good though. I'm a beer girl and I love the new trend of craft breweries opening up all over. No longer do I need to travel down to the San Diego area to do some beer tasting because there's so many in the OC/LA area now. This brewery is but a hop-skip-and-a-jump away from where I spend a lot of my time during the week. They have a very nice set up in the back of an industrial business park. You will not see them from the street. Turn into the driveway by the building with "rke" on the side, go all the way back, turn left before you hit the building and follow the signs. Most of the time they have a food truck that has come by. I've seen two different taco trucks and a pizza truck. Good food from all. Absolution themselves does not serve food but if you bring the kids along, are the DD or just don't partake in alcohol they offer homemade cream soda and root beer. There aren't too many places to sit but that's typical with these types of places. Their beer isn't my favorite but it's pretty good and way better than a Budlight if you ask me. The bar tenders know their stuff and are always friendly to me. They offer a tasting flight for those who just want to pick a few beers to sample. read more

It may not be clustered next to the other breweries like Smog City, Monkish, Strand, and Dudes, but I don't care. Absolution, you're alright. You provide an open space with high ceilings that will make anyone who's claustrophobic feel like they're normal. Well, probably buzzed because they'll have a few of the Fallen Archangel double IPAs on nitro like I did. I've been visiting since first opened years ago. What draws me every time I decide to brewery hop in the South Bay is how comfortable it is. I feel at ease walking into the open garage entryway and drinking my brews surrounded by some real casual vibes. Maybe it's so comfortable because of the location. It's tucked away in a proper clean-shaven and well-kept business center. Absolution is like the dude in sandals hanging out with his friends dressed in business casual. It's peaceful in the business center and tends to have smooth breezes roll by. As smooth as my Fallen Archangel on nitro. -------------------------------------------------- QUICK TIPS: -------------------------------------------------- # Absolution brews up a nice range of different styles of beer from lagers to IPAs # Anything on nitro tends to be good. I liked my Fallen Archangel on nitro. You don't see IPAs placed on nitro. That's usually done for heavier beers like stouts and porters. Nitro gives creaminess to the beer. # I like Absolution's location. It's tucked away in a quiet part of a business center and the interior is wide open space that lets you spread your elbows out unlike the typical, cramped tasting room. Not another craft brewery in Torrance When did the craft brew craze take off? 3 or 4 years ago? I remember when I used to go to Monkish and Smog when they opened and how empty those places were, and when the first craft brew craze launched places like JT Schmid's in Anaheim and Red Car more than 15 years ago. I used to travel a lot back then and would go to these little brew pub restaurants and collect t shirts, not to mention 20 years ago going to Portland for a weekend and only able to hit half of the brew pubs. So up until 4 or 5 years ago, these new craft drinkers giving ABC 5* were drinking Corona, Sam Adams, or MGD. So anything with the most minute amount of flavor is an improvement. Speaking of how new these "crafties" are, at bottleshop in Redondo the bartender was making a suggestion about an IPA and the person said they did not like sour beers. WTF. I went to ABC when it first opened and Wes gave me a smug response to if they will ever brew Lagers, which my response was to never go to ABC again, although I did like the very generic but drinkable pale ale they had at the time. I saw on the their FB page that they had a California Steam Lager and that Wes had left! So I decided to try this style of lager that used a warm temperature yeast so the beer wouldn't have to be lagered. It was OK but the bartenders were really nice and I really like the space. On weekends they have different caterers come in and serve "beer food." I will stick to Smog and the Dudes and look forward to the Strand moving across the street from Honda. I know that Yelp ratings come from the heart and glad that people are supporting our local breweries, but ABC at most is a 4* brewery. They don't do anything really different or revolutionary. If they want to take it to the next level they should start lagering like some of the other other brewers around the country who are trying to make Czech and German style Pils and Pilsners. read more
