Can not get hold of them. Are they still in business? They put our solar panels in and trying to get hold of them so we can get a new roof.

Fist they installed the panels in the wrong spot on the roof. Then when the panels were not working correctly and we needed a technician to take a look at the panels and determine why, they were unreachable. So now we have solar panels that do not work, and the lifetime warranty is useless, since we cannot get a hold of the company by any means. read more

I had the displeasure of working with Abundant Solar on a solar project for my home. Their quote came in extremely competitive, so I decided to give them a shot. The first issue that I saw was that the quote on the Energy Sage website showed that their quote would meet my electric needs but the actual contract showed a vast difference. (For details, my EnergySage quote cited 17,160kwH in first-year production. On my contract, this was changed to 15k. The 2nd issue was that my contract was all-inclusive, parts, labor, etc. Abundant Sola then reached out to me to say that they needed an additional $1300 because my utility provider, NBU, needed a specific process to be followed that increased their parts/labor. I was surprised that this issue came up because, after all, Abundant Solar was supposed to be the solar expert. I reached out to the electrical engineering group within my utility provider and they shared with me several emails where they highlighted the entire process from start to finish with examples. This seemed unprofessional as they are the solar install experts, but again mistakes happen. The final straw was when Abundant Solar sent me an email with the following: "...we received an email from the city of New Braunfels regarding even more hoops to jump through with many stipulations and restrictions for us to even do business with the city. We are saddened to inform you that due to the City of New Braunfels restrictive guidelines we will not be doing any solar installations within their jurisdiction." Needless to say, I am unable to do business with Abundant Solar because of their inability to adhere to instructions. I read through them and although they are comprehensive I do not believe them to be prohibitive in any way. There is a multitude of houses in New Braunfels that have solar panels so if other companies can figure it out, why can't Abundant Solar? I wish Abundant Solar the best of luck and hope they can get their process ducks in a row as their quote was extremely competitive. ***Please Read***. Our interactions with Abundant Solar and the company owner Fred Brimhall was overall horrific. 1)The install was a complete laughing matter a. Date missed several times to start the install b. Techs sleeping on the floor as they were waiting for equipment to arrive or work to be completed on the ground. c. Several missed appointments to complete work so the inspection could be conducted d. Lack of communication with CSP energy to coordinate a date to verify work prior to system going on line e. When issues were discovered during the first year to year and a 1/2, responses to get issues addressed or resolved were comical f. Fred the owner, promises the world and drastically under delivers g. Fred will play phone games by sending to straight to voice mail i. Fred does not always respond/return calls ii. Fred will try to bribe you by compensating you with money and telling you that he will fix the issue but yet it remains unresolved. 2.) Now that we are past the install let's discuss the lack of commitment on a product or warranty that he supposedly offers. a. The supposed warrant that Fred offers is a mere cheap selling tactic to persuade you into buying the solar panels or work he stand behind. b. Back in early 2021 I called Fred and associates and communicated how various panels were not communicating to the system. c. Fred and his associate would tell me to be patience and he would get around working to resolve the issue. d. Finally, weeks later when Fred did get around to working on the issue several panels were still not registering on the monitoring system. I brought this to Fred's attention that same day and he said it sometime takes time for the system to update. e. I checked back a few days later and same result, some panels were still not reporting post his "Quality Work". f. As I continued to call Fred and Abundant Solar, I was referred to a lady there who indicated she was working directly with the surveillance company of the solar panels. g. The lady indicated per the surveillance company my monitor/gateway was experiencing interference and I needed to put it really close to where my circuit breaker panel was or I needed to add a Wi-Fi extender. h. It was just so hilarious how all the other panels were reporting expect certain ones. i. I recently contacted Fred about two days ago explaining I was see the same issues. Fred referred me directly to the surveillance company so I could work with them directly to resolve my issue. j. I worked directly with the surveillance company who took the time to explain that 8 of my panels were not working since the last repair work that Fred completed in early 2021. k. I contacted Fred regarding the surveillance company findings since they (the surveillance company) emailed Fred and I directly to explain the issue. l. When I contacted Fred to see what he could do, my call went unanswered. He replied to the email the surveillance company sent leaving them off the email and not putting his company logo or his email signature on it. Fred refused any accountability to resolve the issue stating it was faulty equipment completely ignoring the fact when the surveillance company stated when it stopped worked. This was time Fred and his company worked on system in 2021. To summarize it all, Fred and his company, will lie, over commit, under deliver on work or the supposed warranty he offers. I STRONGLY recommend if you're interested in purchasing solar panels STAY away from Abundant Solar or any other company Fred Brimhall operates under for solar energy. read more

I designed and sold for Fred Brimhall and Abundant Solar in San Antonio for 3 months. Like most folks, I went through previous reviews and ratings and thought that after 12 years in the industry, he would be a good company to represent and work for. After 3 months, I had some major challenges in continuing my tenure there: 1st - I found out that he had me selling a warranty that he never researched or even qualified for, even though he changed our marketing materials to represent it. 2nd - Rather than pursue a qualification, he just trashed the whole plan, and wanted to make-up a "Lifetime Warranty" program that he would insure himself, but if you have read his complaints on BBB, you know he doesn't like to honor it and won't take the initiative until you complain publicly. 3rd - I had grown frustrated with his lack of follow-through on the first job I had sold, because we had shifted the installation date at least 3 times that I have records of, and I had suspected (and it was later confirmed) that he deceived the homeowner and requested a payment before all material had been ordered and delivered. I approached him with three requirements: reconcile every contract I sold concerning the warranty snafu, get specific about what your warranty covers and doesn't cover because I am not selling something I don't feel comfortable with, and finally I gave him a week to get the homeowner that had their install moved almost two months from the original date to be installed and I wanted to confirm with them that they were happy. Rather than comply or even sympathize with what I felt were reasonable requests, he terminated our relationship and decided not to pay the compensation I earned while there. He was disgusted that I would even get involved and in not so many words, my job was to shut up and sell. I would say, doing business of any kind with Abundant Solar or any company he may rebrand to, like Agave Solar, should be done at your own risk. It would be very difficult to explain all of our complaints with such a small character limit, so I will sum it by saying that in the over 70 years I have been on this earth, I can't readily recall a worse home improvement experience than what I had with Abundant Solar and Fred Brimhall. Installation was 3 months beyond the initial scheduled date. He requested money before the conditions that were spelled out in the contract were satisfied, and we didn't know until weeks later. The main installation (Not including the array and panels that were installed weeks prior) was 3 weeks of hearing "any problem you have with the system is your fault or the fault of your existing equipment, pay me my money." They had to come back to the house 3 different times to fix mistakes that their installers made, all while claiming that the system was installed properly, with only calls to Generac corporate prompting them to come back and fix it. Even with all the history of problems and multiple trips, his installers refused to do a backup power test before leaving the final time, and with some support from Generac our self-test failed with only of the house responding and none of the 220 circuits like the A/C and Oven. Rather than an apologetic response, it was of course not his fault, the system is running fine, and you need to pay me or I am going to take legal action. In addition, he would be willing to fix whatever the problem was if we paid him fully for the install, and an additional travel charge. Luckily, we were able to work with Generac remotely, and after some conversation, they were able to isolate the problem which was the system not being fully activated by the installer. If you ever work with this man, you need to have someone who understands solar right beside you to make sure he does his job right, and as many other people have mentioned in other reviews, you need to make sure to hold back the final payment until after everything is inspected, approved, and tested read more
