TL;DR - Don't trust the sales person on delivery dates. Ensure that you thoroughly check your appliances before you accept them. Know your right to to refuse appliances that do NOT work (do not let them install it, you accept a broken/non-working product and then send a tech to fix it). And, prepare to spend a LOT of time dealing with them if there are any hassles. My washer went out, and I needed a replacement urgently. I came into their showroom and spoke with one of their sales team. He strongly pushed me toward two options, an Electrolux 517 or an Electrolux 617 both for the same price. I, of course, chose the 617 (the Electrolux 617 online gets great reviews, the 517 not quite as much). I was told by the sales guy that they'd be delivered on the following Tuesday, early Wednesday at the absolute latest. I paid for it, and waited to hear from the delivery people. The next day, I was told that the delivery would be on Friday, not Tuesday (3 days later). Ugh. The clothes are piling up. So, the delivery day rolls around, and they show up to deliver the unit. When it's installed, it 100% does not work. It lights up, but doesn't take water, and the door locks and won't open. They tell me to hang out and wait for the service team to come and look at the unit. I say that's not acceptable. I call the sales person, and while I'm talking with them, the service people leave, leaving the unit behind. So, in talking with folks (sales and service are "different divisions" and seem to use that as an excuse for why things can't get done), I finally get them to understand that I'm not going to wait several days for a service tech to come out and repair a BRAND NEW unit. They agree to pick it up and work on some options for me. After several hours, I reach back out to them to see what they plan to do. Note that they told me if we get a solution today, it could be delivered tomorrow. IF not, then it will be 5 days before they can deliver it. So, obviously, it's URGENT that I get something selected. They close at 6pm. At 5pm I call, and they offer me the "lower version" of the same product ("517") for the same price as I paid for the 617. Or, they said I could get the 627 (the newer unit) for $100 more, as they didn't have any more of the 617. After a LOT of hassle, they said they could do the 627 for the same price as the 617 they sold me. BUT, they have to verify the warranty (which makes no sense to me. If it's a new unit, why do they need to verify the warranty?). The next day, they finally delivered a working dishwasher. But, there was tooo much hassle and headache. Appliances a better way? Hrm... As a last note, my next door neighbor's washer went out about 2 weeks ago as well. They purchased from this same place. Their first unit was DOA as well. So, be SUPER careful. Make sure you get a solid test wash, and that things are working. read more

Refrigerator died in August but was lucky to find a new fridge from ABW. The new fridge (Samsung) had a door ding so ABW ordered a replacement at no additional cost. Scheduling for the replacement day and time was very poor, but finally new door arrived. The technician who did the replacement, Johnny, was great!! My boyfriend and I just purchased our 1st home together and we needed to buy a new ha range sooner than anticipated (like day 1). After initiating a purchase of a dishwasher at another place that I won't name here and having some issues my boyfriend put me in the car and drove me out to Rockville to hit the ABW outlet. I was resistant but boy am I glad he did. We got there kinda late but Tim, who we were lucky enough to have as our sales contact, took allllll of the time we needed to help us out that night. He looked up several different gas range models one of which I really fell in love with that night. We completed our purchase the next day and the whole process was a dream. I'm huge on communication when I'm spending thousands of dollars and Tim and the ABW team we're on top of it. Everything was well communicated, from the initial site visit to the final installation. The tech who did our gas range installation was kind enough to give us some advice should the dishwasher I'd just procured from their competitors that was sitting in my living room uninstalled still be an issue after my second installation appointment. I almost wanted to cancel my order with their competitors and just buy everything through them!! We will be continuing to upgrade our kitchen as we complete our remodel and will be working with Tim and ABW the whole way. Excellent pricing and professionalism the whole way around. I bought a gas cooktop and a dishwasher from the ABW Clearance Center. On the sales order they advise that some parts may be missing on delivery. Fair enough. That was the case in my purchase: the plug and toekick for my dishwasher and the mounting brackets for my cooktop were missing. The initial installation of the gas cooktop failed the WSSC gas inspection. When I called ABW, Joe, the installation manager was very accommodating and helpful. He ordered the missing plug and rescheduled the service call saying he would schedule the call totally at my convenience. The installer who came out was Rashard. Speaking from years of experience with installers, I happily state that Rashard was the BEST. More than competent, he did his work neatly being very careful not to scratch my newly-installed tile flooring. He installed the new electrical socket making sure it was squared and centered not like the old one that was off-center and crooked. He was willing to spend extra time with me to explain how the dishwasher worked and even showed me how to adjust the top rack, clean the filter and load the RinseAid. He also put metal brackets on the cooktop to fasten it and showed me pictures of what he had done. He pointed out that the dishwasher toekick was missing - something I had not noticed. He said he would report that and have the missing part ordered and that he would return to install the toekick. I do not expect things to run smoothly and I judge a firm not by how many problems emerge in the process but how they handle the problems when they arise. Rashard, as a representative of ABW, could not have handled the problems more professionally. He is a credit to ABW and probably reflects an enlightened top management that fosters an environment where employees go the extra mile in providing a wonderful customer experience. read more

I found them online and went in to purchase a clearance dryer. TTheynwrote up a proposal and said I could go home and think about it. I was ready to purchase chase on the spot and did so. The delivery costs were exorbitant so I decided to make my own pickup and installation arrangements. Since it was a Saturday I was told on Monday they would reach out to make delivery arrangements and to give me extended warranty details since the unit was a showroom model and past the manufacturers warranty. On Sunday I emailed the sales person and let them know K would pick it up myself the following Saturday. Monday they reached out and said it would be cleaned up and ready for me at their Jessup warehouse on Saturday. No one reached out about a warranty at all. I made arrangements to rent a cargo van to pick it up and appliance dolly to move it into my home. Snow was in the forecast for Saturday so I called them Friday morning to make sure they would be open and it would be available for pickup. They assured me they would be open and I can pick it up. Late that afternoon I was away from my phone and got a message that their driver was sick and went home and wouldn't pick it up until the following Monday and I could pick it up on Tuesday! I tired to call back to make some other arrangements and got no answer and left a message. I followed up by emailing the delivery department and the sales person. Picking up Tuesday would not work as I had a friend coming to town to help me pick it up and install it over the Martin Luther King holiday weekend. Saturday I received no response and called and left two messages for the delivery department and no one responded at all that day. Monday I called and emailed and still no responses. On Tuesday afternoon I went back up to Bethesda and the unit was still sitting in the showroom!!! How could it possibly be ready for me to pickup for me to pickup Tuesday in Jessup when it was still miles away on the showroom floor in Bethesda! I cancelled the sale and requested a refund and the manger there said he just wishes they could just deliver the item to us and knows they didn't meet my time frame. II said sir all I asked for a was communication and it seems that no one is your organization is able to ressponnd to a call or email!! He said he had heard about my situation that morning! But some how he made no effort to call or email and certainly didn't offer free delivery or anything else to make the situation right! Later that afternoon the sales person finally called and emailed stating she would process the refund and apologizing. Just imagine if they had thought to actually communicate before the cancellation they would have finally sold that unit and II would be a happy customer with a new dryer! Between all the bad reviews I have seen and my experience I will not purchase anything else from ABW!! read more

These guys were the best! When I had trouble with my Samsung refrigerator I could not even get Samsung to return my calls. ABW came out, diagnosed the problem correctly, and put me back in business. Purchasing appliances from ABW was fine - they were very helpful and solicitous when I was dropping thousands of dollars for a kitchen redo. But the experience of trying to schedule service to a 3-year-old Therador range (which should not need service at that age!) was very frustrating and led me to look elsewhere for service. In addition, the company ABW uses to sell and administer extended warranties does not return messages - which effectively makes those extended warranties useless. There are plenty of other appliance places that show they care about the customer experience. read more

I recently bought all kitchen appliances (refrigerator, range, microwave and dishwasher) from ABW Appliance Outlet, in particular the stainless steel Frigidaire Pro series. I talked to Steel on the phone many times to get some guidance, and he was very courteous and devoted a lot of time to make sure we were on the same page and to give me all the information I needed to make an informed decision. I then went to the Outlet store in Kensington, MD to go over all the details and compare brands. Steel is very knowledgeable and attentive, and I have had an excellent experience so far. Where do I begin! This was the worst experience I've ever encountered! I was referred by a co worker and was told that ABW was the best in the busniess. While, from day one, it all went down hill! We started our purchasing of appliances in February, only to find out that our sales person was fired, therefore our order slipped through the cracks and we were never notified. Once I did call the store and asked what sales person took over our acct, it was a complete nightmare...our order was messed up, it took them weeks to make contact with Meile to switch out our order, there were no returned calls or follow up...the most horrible customer service I ever experienced! On top of that, my refridgator, that I still don't have, was delivered damaged twice and the hood, which I still don't have, came used with dents, scratches and dismount markings, which clearly shown to be a used product. I purchased a Wolfe stove and already, the rubber has come off of the burning grates, which Ionly had the stove for 2-1/2 weeks and may have used it about 6 times. Please spare yourself and go elsewhere, where they take pride and providing top customer service and care, not only when you are spending your money, but after you have have your purchases at home...repeat costomers, are the best customers!, Oops...sorry, I will be spending my money elsewhere and will never purchase or refer anyone to ABW Appliances! read more

I needed a replacement water filter for my kitchen sink & the manufacturer listed ABW as the closest retailer near me to get it. I called to see if they carried them and spoke with Lucas, who suggested I might get it a lot faster from Amazon. I had no idea which model to get and he actually helped me by giving me the correct replacement number. I was able to order it and will get it in two days. Extremely courteous and excellent customer service, even though I didn't buy anything from them, but I sure would in the future if I needed something. read more

I am very disappointed with my recent experience at ABW. What occurred felt like nothing short of bait and switch. The staff seemed knowledgeable, but at every turn things were promised initially and then rescinded later. We were quoted prices and sent proposals with the same price but on downgraded models - different then the ones we had discussed. They then refused to honor the original pricing. We were told discounts would be made on installation and then later told they were sorry but the discounts couldn't happen. The excuse was always that someone else said "no". In the end it was apparent to me that the salesperson could not be trusted and we are going to purchase elsewhere. If you choose to go here make sure you leave the store with everything in writing and that you are absolutely certain which appliance (and especially which model) they are referring to. read more

We purchased several appliances from ABW as part of our kitchen renovation. The sales people seem to know very little about the appliance brands that they sell but we decided to rely on written reviews for the various brand and purchased a $7000 Thermador stove - this was our first mistake. The stove has failed after 2 and a half years and of course the warranty ends at 2 years. ABW was no help in our effort to convince the manufacturer that the stove failure is premature and therefore they should pay for repairs. After much effort on my own part and forced to pay for a certified Thermador repair man to come out and evaluate the failure which was already indicated by the flashing light code on the stove, Thermador agreed to cover cost of the repair but not the evaluation which cost me $160. In addition, Thermador said the repair was to be carried out by the ABW service center where the stove was purchased. Unfortunately, I have to add that the repair service from ABW was worse than the purchase and customer service. To make a long story as short as possible- the service men arrived 2 hrs late- brought the wrong parts and wanted to change me for labor. So now I'm back to contacting Thermador to straighten out the mess. A bit of advice-- stay away from ABW and stay away from Thermador. read more

Purchasing an Electolux front-loading washing machine and dryer was exceptional. Jose Martinez found what are probably the only two such appliances that would fit into my laundry room. ABW was a pleasure to deal with, and you will find this to be the case when you need an appliance. Lukas, our sales consultant, followed up and made our experience stress free. He was a dream. You could tell he loves his job. Deiver, the manager, was thorough and informative but we never knew he was in charge, very low-keyed and as nice to work with as with Lucas. This team was sublime. When our kick plate needed replacement, it was taken care of. Their products speak for themselves, but ABW is a breed of its own and we will be back when needing another appliance. We remodeled our kitchen a little more than a year ago, buying all of the appliances from ABW, to the tune of nearly $10,000. I liked their showroom, and while the guy who helped us was a bit too laid back for my taste, they had a great selection and our contractor recommended them. Fast forward not quite a year from installation and a diode on the dishwasher died. It meant the 0 was missing a corner - no big deal but we'd spent $60,000 on this renovation and I wanted a full 0. Contacted ABW and they said - quite aggressively - that the dishwasher (a Bosch) was out of warranty. I tried the contractor, and he said the usual standard wasn't when he bought them (over a year from when I notified ABW), but from when he installed them, a couple of months later. ABW didn't care, and I was out $225 for the new part plus labor. I just think if an appliance wholesaler should stand behind their products. A couple of weeks later, the microwave door won't open. It sticks. I shoot WD40 in and it opens for a day or two, then ... sticks again. Again, no huge deal, but prying open the microwave door each time is a pain, and it shouldn't happen on a year old appliance. And ABW should say, we're really sorry. We'll be happy to repair or replace. Did they? Your guess. read more
