This hotel nickels and dimes you! If you want to check in before 10AM $75 If you want to check in before 12AM $50 If you want to avoid the charges above, check in aFter 12PM. Even when the rooms are ready and is the one that they will give you at 12:01PM The service is good and efficient. However, when I went to checking the lady did not even bother making eye contact. It seemed as I was bothering her. I went to check in at 10:15AM and that's when I learned about the additional fees inly to find hair in the shower. If you are going to charge extra for a room that's "READY!" It should be "READY!" Breakfast is not included and it is $25 per person but you have better options at a walking distance from the hotel. I also have to recognize Maxime as she has a great personality, light, easy to speak with and kind. Great customer service! I have stayed in Lebua (Thailand), jW Marriott in South Korea and other hotels and never paid an additional fee to provide a room that it is already ready as they know you will be there. read more

So I'm including amenities in the hotel review. This feels like a "high end" boutique hotel in a pretty great location in DC. Only about a mile from the White House and completely walkable to almost everything but the Capital (about 2.5miles) I was able to walk the Washington Monument and all surrounding sites without issue. Rooms were very comfortable and came with fridge for leftovers and water, a safe, and smart TV (though slow to respond for our room). Very nice fitness center on the second floor and a rotating selection of citrus water at the lobby desk. I would like to have had some laundry which they don't offer and some stronger water pressure in the shower but that's just being nit-picky. This is a Marriott property and while there is a breakfast it didn't match the boutique standard which was kinda boring and I passed on. At the End of the Day it's a great location with some really good eating places nearby. Stop by Moxies, Gregory's Coffee across the street (salted cold brew), and DEFINITELY go to Founding Farmers for dinner AND breakfast (look for my reviews). Would easily stay here again on a short trip over a long trip. read more

Upscale vibes but not breaking the bank for a very nice and comfortable room. Modern and clean rooms, bigger than the JW Marriott rooms that we stayed at near the White House at a previous visit. Of course, they don't have conference rooms or a zillion common space areas so this is definitely more casual but perfect for a weekend getaway. Very kind and friendly staff. Check in is a breeze, parking is 72 after tax for the day. Beds are comfy and they give you a bunch of pillows to make it plush. The fridge in the room is actually cold though small but can hold water bottles and leftovers. There is a handheld shower that makes its easy to give kids a bath without a tub. Also a rain shower head that makes things feel a little more luxurious. Walls are not 100% sound proof so it's a little noisy because you can hear residual tv sounds from adjacent rooms. AC works like a charm no issues there. Lovely bar and spacious lounge area to sit around to work or mingle. It's very conveniently located near restaurants so you aren't isolated to just the hotel restaurant. Highly recommend! read more

Three came with the order, and they were just average. I ordered the churros served with a caramel sauce, and they were the highlight of my meal. The brand of this hotel was supposed to be pragmatism. On some counts it delivered; others not. I got a late checkout thanks to my membership status, but as often happens this wasn't well executed; my key stopped working and had to be reactivated and I had people knocking on my door. Since I use hotels to telework and am in meetings, I find these things aggravating. The room had some nice touches, but a modest fridge and no microwave. The AC was highly effective so at least they're on brand there. The two elevators were a bit weak for a building this size and there was a lot of waiting, but when I took the stairs I ended up in a staff area somehow. The location south of Dupont has access to a lot of downtown DC sights and the crowd here was very business-y. The lounge on the main floor is quite a loud and ostentatious place to enter. Being downtown has value, but I wasn't 100% sold on this as the best place I could have stayed. read more

Don't let the Marriott name fool you on this one. This is simply another "Patel Motel" operating under the Marriott brand. This is a VERY old hotel, recently furnished with typical furniture liquidation furnishings that smell of cheapness. How this property passes Marriott standards is beyond me. However, it has only been open under this brand for a couple of months so I am sure the Marriott name will not last long. Here are some highlights: Most Marriotts offer guest laundry machines. Usually laundry soap is provided for FREE and laundry cycles are $1.00 each. The Patels here have decided that soap will be charged for and each cycle is $4.25... making it over $10.00 for a simple load of laundry. The room had stains on the carpet. The lights are weird in the room (See attached photos) and look like they came from a second hand furniture liquidator. Definitely NOT Marriott standard. Valet parking is a racket here. I understand its Washington DC, but $60+ each night is simply INSANE... and don't even think about going to your car to get something out without an employee escorting you and watching your every move. Not sure what the deal with this is, but perhaps it's a way for the valet guy to possibly earn some more tips? Seriously... I worked in the hotel business for over 13 years and know how these Patels operate. They cut corners as much as they can seeking a quick profit at the expense of guests. read more

The rooms are nice, but on the smaller side; clean; and have comfortable beds. Our room's heater, set for 73°, would drive the temperature up to 77° and reset, then allow the room to cool to 70°. Oh well... I'd get a room on the side opposite 19th Street to avoid the street noise, which can be considerable. However, if you have a room facing 19th, the WaWa out front has street comedians who put on quite the early-morning and late-night comedy acts: you can clearly hear them in the Penthouse. The hotel staff is very nice and willing to take on any reasonable requests. They were helpful in suggesting places to eat or to find whatever you need or are looking for. It's kind of strange that they'd take down the coffee pot in the morning sharply at 1000 AM: some of us work very late and it's more convenient to get a cuppa Joe on your schedule. Minor point. Bar is very noisy in the afternoon through closing: hard to hear yourself think. If you're waiting for a Lyft ride, wait outside. I ate in the restaurant ONLY once, but the food was good. Service was excellent. Prices were breath-taking... but, it's DC, a place where people throw around money like they're printing it. read more

On my last DC trip, I stayed here, and not only is it centrally located, but it's *CLEAN*, quiet (given its central location), has exceptional service, the rooms are beautifully designed - and remind me of hotel rooms in Europe, with their efficiency / layouts - and they have a great restaurant and snack bar. I used to travel weekly for work, so I'm very particular when it comes to what I like about hotels, and I generally don't love hotels at this point in my life, but this hotel was fabulous. I also remember liking the mattress and pillows, and I've even stayed in Ritz Carltons, Four Seasons, Ws, and Westins with not wonderful beds, so that's saying something. ;) read more

During my recent visit to Washington, DC, I stayed at the AC Hotel. Upon arrival, the staff was very welcoming, and my room was clean and comfortable, which I appreciated. However, I did encounter a few service issues during my stay. Before leaving for the day, I requested that my room be cleaned. When I returned later in the afternoon, the room had not been serviced. I called the front desk and was told that the system showed my room as already cleaned, but I explained that this was not the case and asked for someone to come tidy the room and replace the towels. When housekeeping eventually arrived, they seemed unhappy about the request and only replaced the towels and emptied the trash, which made the experience feel uncomfortable. I understand that housekeeping teams work very hard and that the job can be demanding, but guest requests should still be handled with care and professionalism. Additionally, at the hotel bar, I was disappointed by how the glassware was handled. Several glasses appeared not properly cleaned and had leftover water sitting in them. Since the bar was not busy, I would have expected the glasses to be dried and polished with a towel before use. This raised concerns about cleanliness. Overall, while there were positive aspects to my stay, these service and cleanliness issues unfortunately prevent me from giving this hotel a high rating. read more

They have a nice menu very reasonably priced. They are just a short walk to the subway and there are several quaint restaurants nearby. Rooms are always bright and clean. This is one of the nicest AC hotels I've stayed in. It has everything you need and nothing you don't. Ample workspaces in the lounge with outlets for the computer, a 24 hour fitness center, and friendly staff. I travel a lot for work and the small details really sell me; the shower controls on the opposite side of the shower heads mean you don't get wet when first turning on the shower, the Heat/AC controls are extremely responsive to changes you make (they often do nothing or are set to a narrow range at other hotels), and the built-in desks in the rooms are spacious enough for you to spread out with your laptop and writing pad. I had never stayed in this area of town and there are some gems of eats here. There are several metro stops accessible from short walks. Will absolutely come back. The only downside was a bit of a wait to check in on account of the hotel being fully booked. read more

I stayed at the AC Marriott Downtown for one night when I was in town to meet up with some friends. The hotel is modern and well appointed. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The rooms at AC are what I would call minimalist. There aren't any big bulky dressers or cabinets. I prefer that style for short stays because it feels more open and roomy. They provide multi-use shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. I wish they did the same for the lotion rather than providing single use plastic containers. The reason I have this 4 stars instead of 5 is the bed. I think the floor would have been softer to sleep on rather than that mattress. I could literally feel the tense springs in the mattress. Throw a quilted mattress cover on there or something. I can't imagine anyone finds that mattress comfortable. I woke up aching like crazy. There was no way to get comfortable on that mattress. Other than the uncomfy bed, I loved my stay there. read more

I travel to DC for work and to visit friends often. This hotel is easily one of my favorites booked for business purposes! The location is incredibly convenitent in many ways: shops and a variety of restaurants nearby, convenience stores and cafes in every direction for your walk to work or the station, easy to get rideshares/taxis for pickup-- and I'm sure there's more! The hotel is decorated in a VERY contemporary modern push. Moody lighting, geometic motifs balancig form and minimalism. There is a small, stylish bar/restaurant off to the side of the lobby that looked cute. Check in was not only easy and quick-- but fun! I hade the pleasure of interacting with Luis the most out of all the staff-- he is exempliary! Instantly I felt welcomed and excited to be back in the area because of how cordial, professional, and yet lively! He shared great tips based on my preferences for dining and local events happening during the weekend. My room was clean with crisply folded linens and a soft, comfortable bed. Due to the limited rooms, I received an ADA compliant suite-- which is actually what I'm used to after growing up with family that needed such rooms. I had an okay view but kept the curtains drawn most of the time. The amenities like the AC and water temp were perfect and never faultered. I hope to stay here again! read more

The hotel has a great central downtown DC location. The rooms were very clean and the staff was friendly. The beds were comfortable enough, but they didn't have any foam pillows and the feather pillows just get completely flat. Stayed here for a weekend to see the cherry blossom in DC. The hotel is in convenient location with access to the metro (walk around 5-10 mins depending on which station and line). It's close the DuPont circle and White House. Lots of places nearby within walking distance. There's a convenient store and a pizza place across the street; next door is an Asian place. Nearby are Korean and kebab etc. This is also one of the few hotels in DC I found that offers two queen size beds. Will consider staying here again. The hotel has free coffee in the morning. Breakfast buffet is offered at $20 per person with mostly continental selections. We ordered a hamburger at the restaurant for $18. It came with potato wedges also. Good selection of past dinner time. read more

Comfortable, modern feel and a good space for business travelers. Great downtown location close to the sights of National Mall and DuPont Circle neighborhood. On our last day we rented bikes from Capitol Bikeshare (there's a bike station about a block away) and explored the city. We didn't spend too much time in the lobby but did get small bites at the lounge. I'd recommend the side of mushroom farro risotto and broccolini if you're looking for something small but filling. Staff was friendly and helpful and got us a room quickly when we arrived early for check in. read more

Good front desk service. The after hours staff would go above and beyond to ensure their customers were taken care of. The accommodations were clean, I like the hardwood floors. Complimentary coffee each morning was nice. The bar downstairs did a great job. Not so into the Cesar salad, a little small, but the burger and fries with the extra egg and avocado was a nice touch. There is a small fridge there. Their ice machine didn't seem to work too great. Couldn't sense my cup in front of the auto dispensing sensor. If you have Netflix, you can login and watch on their TV. If you want to bring your own HDMI device, you can, but you have to let them remove the TV for you. The HDMI ports are not exposed. read more

Great location for your work groups, staycation, evening out with friends or hosting a meeting. The staff was beyond friendly and attentive. Walk southwest and visit George Washington University. Walk west and go to Georgetown. Good restaurants on M street and in the area. The lounge is large and comfortable. I would sit with my computer and do some work there. Beds and pillows comfortable. Rooms clean. Modern and new ... one noted feature is each room has a main switch at the door that turns most lights in the room off... Similar to European hotels but not quite. Drives me crazy the waste in hotels when you leave a hotel room with every light on. This helps you to turn most lights off right at the door. Small detail. I would return! read more

I have given this bar hotel more than one chance. While some bartenders and the managers provide good service, there is an EXTREMELY rude bartender named MILLY. She is not just rude but also abrupt with guests, she acts like she is doing the customer a favor by serving them and she seems to be bothered by basic asks like getting your check to close out. Unfortunately she is there most nights which means it is difficult to avoid her. Not sure why she is so rude but there are 100 places closer where the service is better and you do not have to endure this woman's bizarre attitude. Would also encourage the AC Hotel to consider employing someone else -- she should not be the face of the bar. read more

We had an excellent experience here! Found a deal to stay here online for the weekend, but wasn't sure the quality of the hotel. We were so happy with what we found! Walking in, you can tell they've put a lot of thought into their modern and sleek atmosphere, while also keeping it very welcoming. The rooms are very modern, functional, and comfy. They also have nice thermostats in the room that are very quick/efficient at cooling or heating the room to your preference. I didn't eat much here, but they did provide complementary coffee in our rooms, and we did have a small breakfast here one of the mornings and it was pretty good. They offer lunch and dinner, as well as happy hour specials from 4-7pm. The real star here is the staff. Every time we asked them for anything, they went over and above in making our stay an excellent one! For example, we needed some white noise in our room so we asked the front desk if they had a fan and later that day we noticed they put one in our room, but what we didn't know was that it was the GM's personal fan from his office. Amazing! Also, anytime we asked for literally anything, from coffee to towels, they brought it up within minutes. I could not recommend the staff enough and would give them a sixth star if I could! AC By Marriott is known for their modern, simple and eco friendly hotels. They are a step up from a Courtyard or Springhill Suites but don't have all the bells and whistles of the flagship Marriotts. We loved our stay at the new one in Philly, so he didn't hesitate to book when we visited DC. Especially since the other Marriott hotels nearby don't have more glowing reviews. Lobby is beautiful and there is a cool looking bar as you walk inside. We didn't lounge here, but would if we didn't have other plans. We had a good stay. A few issues-there appears to be no upgraded rooms or suites as in Philly. At least that's what we were told. Rooms were small, but clean. There was a small smart fridge we didn't use. Bathrooms were clean and modern, though square toilet was a little weird. Bed was clean as well, but the mattress wasn't as comfortable as those in other Marriott we've recently stayed in. And it is on a platform frame which is low to the ground. So taller people may take issue. I did like the multiple shower heads and the Korres bath products. No lotion though. Valet area is kind of dicey. And the staff were okay, but slow so make a note of it. Overall, a nice clean place to rest your head in the nation's capital. read more

One of the better AC Hotels I have stayed at in a while. Located in a great spot downtown, this AC is convenient to everything DC has to offer, whether you're in town for work or play. If driving, I do recommend parking in the public deck directly across from the front of the hotel. There is otherwise no self parking at the hotel and valet is $49/night. We left our car in the deck for two days and the total was $45. The bar and restaurant is open until 11pm which is nice because late night dining options are currently limited through the week and many restaurants have closed permanently or are yet to reopen. The rooms are nice and on par with an AC - nice, about middle of the road from a luxury perspective, comfortable beds, and nice showers with decent water pressure. That's all you need, amirite?! Pets are allowed (2 total), so bring the pooch. It does require a signed waiver and a $75 non-refundable pet fee (total, not per night). Plenty of coffee shops, restaurants and convenience stores within walking distance including a WaWa right across the street and a 7-11 in close proximity. Overall a great spot - wouldn't hesitate to stay again. read more

Worst services ever from a marriott company, specially the valet parking, my car on my app been showing door open and unlocked since we got here (been almost 10 hrs), I went down to talk to the front desk and the valet people to make sure my car is ok. I'm a fan of more modern Marriott properties which are few and far between in DC (looking at you JW, St. Regis, and what was the W). I really like the lobby bar vibe. Its dark and modern and was full of business travelers. The happy hour was actually pretty good when I checked in. $6/beer for local craft beer is a steal, especially in a city. I'm Platinum Elite with Marriott so I was "upgraded" to a better view than I booked. I use quotes because the room may have been more expensive then what I booked but it was really a standard room on a higher floor. Not a huge issue, I was just surprised that there werent better rooms on the property. They said they didnt have any suites on the property which was actually surprising. I've stayed in AC's before with junior suites. I was a fan of the overall look and feel of the whole hotel although the room was pretty small but it did look and feel like a regular AC, just smaller. In all, I'd stay here again because its in a good location to K Street and other stuff. The property was clean, the staff friendly, and overall a good property. read more

I loved my stay here. The room is clean and lovely. The shower is wonderful and relaxing with cool Korres citrus mint products. I liked the comfy bed and desk to get work done. There are a ton of outlets by the bed and the desk to charge your PC and phone. My room was right next to the elevator but I didn't hear it at all. I loved how quiet it was! The front desk staff were helpful, welcoming and sweet. The lobby is modern and artsy. The hotel bar is quite relaxing and has a nice cool vibe but wasn't too crowded. The other hotel guests were polite. I felt like it was a nice neighborhood near the Wawa for snacks and lots of cute lunch places nearby!!! The location is fantastic in DC. On Nov 23rd at 7:08AM I woke up thirst because the service room was not working and there were no bottler of water replaced. I went to the lobby to ask for a bottle water but unfortunately I forgot my ID in the room. At the front desk I asked to charge my room but without ID the receptionist (not friendly) said she could not charge because she could not confirm my identity. So I tried to pay by Apple Pay, but unfortunately the hotel do not allow Apple Pay. So I claim that I could confirm all the information to prove my identity but she did not allow me. I had to go outside to buy a bottle of water in one store. I am reporting this bad experience in all social media just because one bottle of water. I thought Marriot was able to maintain the good services around the hotels, but not. It is unacceptable. Marriot never more. read more
