Enjoyed my overnight stay here. A small boutique sheek hotel, about 150 rooms, located on Scott Circle. The staff here are very welcoming and accommodating from check-in to check out. The rooms are well kept, standard amenities and an ice/water station on each floor. A nice restaurant on site with a full bar with a lounging area. A fitness center and plenty of seating in the lobby area with a flatscreen.

The hotel itself was in a very central and busy area. Sound was not an issue. Everything was relatively close or just a walking, scooter, bike, uber or bus distance away, all very easy to use. The location itself was very clean and modern looking, nice vibe with a boutique feel. Friends came over and they agreed it was a "nice place". All the amenities were a few notches above average. One thing however, seems like street parking in this area is not great, so best to uber here if you can manage that.

This Canopy by Hilton is in the Embassy Row area. It's just a short walk to the White House. The first Canopy hotel opened in 2016 in Reykjavik, with research from more than 9000 travelers with the first US properties opening in 2018. It feels fresh, with the modern and playful furnishings, to the comfortable bed, to the well-appointed bathroom, water filtered fillers, modern farmhouse ambience. There's a barn door dividing the bed, desk, tv from the foyer and bathroom. Floors are dark paneled wood, no wall-to-wall carpeting. When driving off Rhode Island Avenue to pull into the hotel, there's just a tight area to stop. There is no parking lot, only valet parking. Valet parking is $65 a day. Public areas are comfortable and feature diverse faces in the artwork. There's a small Made in DC shop in the lobby. Staff are friendly, personable. One of the elevators was not working. Overall, clean and quiet in a great location.

Location, location, location. For those who like to walk to their destinations, Canopy by Hilton Washington D.C. Embassy Row places you in the center of it all. It's an easy stroll to museums, monuments, shopping, restaurants, most everything you could ask for. As well, the staff is consistently kind and helpful. Those pros noted, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that, while the rooms are comfortable, this hotel is the kind of place where things look fine at first glance, but, as you get settled, you find hair from guests past in the "chiller" and notice layers of dust on the hard-to-reach edges of the carpet behind the bedside table. After a few of these discoveries, I stopped myself from looking too closely at anything for fear of what I might find. Also, if you are noise sensitive, know that footfalls from above and conversations from the hallway and neighboring rooms might be an issue. Finally, I found the lack of diversity in the people featured in the majority of the hotel's artwork curious, especially given the demographics of the District, staff and guests. Three and a half stars.

Upon check in Maya was super sweet and helpful! She was able to accommodate our early arrival and it was sincerely appreciated. Thank you Maya! Hotel was clean and inviting, we loved the decor and comfortable cozy vibes downstairs in the lobby as well as in the room! The bartender and wait staff in am and on were great in the restaurant as well. The food was yummy too! Walking distance to the White House (12 minutes to be exact)

Pretty okay hotel with some aggravating quirks that make it seem like someone in a corporate office is making decisions for a hotel they've never stayed at. But it's centrally located, clean, and relatively spacious for a price that isn't scary high. PROS: -Nicely located to a gigantic range of things. You're a short taxi from the White House and other tourist stops, and you're within a mile to a ton of bars and restaurants. We were awoken every morning to tons of honking, though, so if you're a light sleeper, this also means you're next to DC's angry driving problem. -If you want to go a bit further out, Canopy has free bicycles you can check-out as guests here. You can bike a bit further out if there's something you wnat to explore. -Bathroom was nicely sized. I hate being cramped in a bathroom, and we selected the Canopy because it was one of the few downtown hotels that seemed to have more than a closet's worth of space. That proved true, and it could fit two or three people doing their thing in the bathroom if you needed to. -Room itself was decently sized too. For downtown DC, I really can't complain. There was enough space around the bed to easily walk next to someone, and I never felt "cramped" - even when working from the hotel room all day. -Speaking of, the free WiFi is okay for standard work. It's super slow on VPNs, but it'll work for most email checking. (It gets slow for streaming TV or movies) -Bed is plushy, comfortable, and gigantic. I had some amazing night's sleeps here. -The room has in-room, handheld clothing steamers for getting wrinkles out of your clothing. As another reviewer says, this also means they don't have irons or ironing boards in the room (there's very little space. The closet itself is hidden inside the bathroom!) -There's a cute "local items you can buy from DC" store downstairs with a range of trinkets, foods, and other small, local businesses. It felt less clutter-y than the typical tourist store while still letting us buy something small to memorialize the trip. CONS: -Valet-only parking here, and we were quoted over $70 a night. -The Canopy brand, this one included, seems to use "trendy" half-carts for luggage carts. We both stared at the luggage cart and assumed we'd need to make 3 trips - which defeats the point of a luggage cart. Especially if you're on a long trip with lots of luggage, it's a very precarious game of Tetris (that I won!) to manage to get your items to your room. This is made harder by the fact that there's a tall ledge to get into the elevators that you have to get the cart over. -No coin-operated laundry. This exacerbates the "lack of a full luggage cart" if you're trying to travel with 14 days of clothing. -Our room was dark. There's a single, tiny window that faced a tall brick building. During the middle of the day, we had to have the room lights on or we wouldn't be able to see much of the room. It's DC, and tall buildings are expected, but this isn't the place for beautiful natural light. -They provide a glass carafe and a water refilling station instead of water bottles to cut down on plastic waste. 100% behind it. What I'm confused by is why the water refilling station is shorter than the carafe, so the carafe doesn't fit underneath it. It leads to holding the bottle at a 45-degree angle, and your water carafe is a wet, dripping mess as you walk it back to your hotel room. Why? -Housekeeping doesn't seem to leave an extra roll of toilet paper in the rooms - or it's hidden somewhere I can't find it. You get the 3/4ths roll they leave on the holster, and that's about it. If you don't have room service daily (you can opt in or out at check-in), this means you'll be fetching a lot of toilet paper. It seems like an odd choice; I'm used to at least 1 bonus roll so you don't have to hunt down housekeeping.

This is a very nice hotel ; location very good. Walking distance ten minutes to Wawa, jimmy John's and a Dunkin' Donuts. Hotel staff very friendly . Rooms are a good size and very clean . A lot of seating in the lobby to just unwind and relax. Full bar downstairs if you want a drink. Beds are very comfortable. Only minus would be if you need to park your car valet is $70 a night/ and is the only parking offered at the hotel. If you don't mind a ten minute walk there are lots/ parking garages around $15-$25 a night.

Came for a quick snack and a drink. Decided to sit in their outside section because the weather was nice. Good service! My server came back every now and then to make sure I was ok. Their food is a little pricey, but it's worth it. It's at the wharf so you know parking is crazy. The only advice I have for those that don't want to pay for garage parking is to park a couple blocks away and walk.

If you have the opportunity to catch one of these evenings, it is absolutely worth the effort. I arrived early and stopped at Off the Record for a drink before heading upstairs. The bartender mentioned that this event also helps provide additional hours for staff during the slower month of August, which made me appreciate the concept even more. The Top of the Hay itself is stunning. The views and setting are exactly what you would expect from such an iconic DC property, and getting to experience a space that is typically reserved for private events made the evening feel particularly special. The drinks were also excellent. Sweet, but not overly sweet. But what really stood out was the staff. I do not say this lightly. The service was outstanding. I genuinely wish I had caught everyone's names because anyone working between roughly 4:30 and 7:30 that evening in the lobby, Off the Record, or Top of the Hay deserves recognition and a raise! Every person I interacted with was incredibly attentive without ever being overbearing. What impressed me most was that the staff remembered my schedule for the evening and made sure I left Off the Record at exactly the right time so I could be the first person to step into Top of the Hay when it opened. That level of attention to detail is rare. Beautiful space, great drinks, and truly exceptional hospitality. "Be Gin the Evening" is such a clever way to let locals and visitors experience a part of The Hay Adams they otherwise might never see. I would absolutely do it again.

Our stay at The…read moreHay-Adams was deeply disappointing and fell far short of basic expectations, let alone what you would expect from a property claiming five-star luxury. For the rates they charge, the conditions and service are unacceptable. The building is old, heavily dated, and features cheap fixings. The bathroom is tiny, featuring a cramped round sink with virtually zero counter space to set down any personal items. Furthermore, for a five-star hotel, lacking a proper hot tub and standalone shower is unacceptable. The towels provided are cheap, rough, and feel entirely out of place at this price point. The bathroom ventilation is so old and loud, that I can't even believe it's there. No fridge in the room, only a mini bar that will charge you if you move around mini bar items to place your own drinks. The view of the White House was severely misadvertised. To actually see it, you are required to pay an extra $700 on top of an already steep $600-per-night room rate. The acoustic insulation is non-existent. If anyone is staying in the room above you, forget about sleeping--every single footstep and movement carries straight through. The front desk staff was entirely dismissive. After promising to switch our room to resolve our issues, they dragged us through three separate attempts, wasted hours of our time with non-responsive answers, and then finally demanded we pay even more money to fix their mistake. After we went through, not even a complimentary breakfast or really anything. Shocked that this place is more expensive than Four Seasons, St. Regents, and the kind. This is barely a three star hotel (except location of course). Stay away.

Overall, a stylish, safe, and seriously fun stay. More details from my review on Google: Rooms: The rooms were exceptionally clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The turndown service was a lovely touch, and everything in the room was perfect throughout my stay. Safety: The hotel elevators felt extremely secure and high-tech. Guests must use a key card to access certain levels and floors, which added an extra layer of safety and peace of mind. Walkability: The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of plenty of things to do, as well as the locations I needed to access for work. The location made my stay easy and convenient. Food & drinks: The hotel restaurant and bar had a nice atmosphere, and the food was good, but everything felt extremely overpriced. Charging $24 for one drink is absurd. I enjoyed the experience overall, but the prices make it difficult to recommend. Noteworthy details: From the moment I arrived, I was treated like a regular. We found the valet staff particularly helpful especially when navigating awkward arrivals and parking needs of our personal guests. Sean was a prince. He supervised an otherwise complicated set of logistics with competence and gentlemanly grace. Another shout out to the manager ( sou?) of the breakfast dining. We watched him rigorously oversee staff and guests while occasionally stepping in when helpful. His leadership is likely responsible for the professionalism of said staff. This is in direct contrast to the staff of the Willard across the street where we took the first breakfast of our stay. We were dismayed to have to endure extremely loud staff socializing, boisterous laughter and downright flirting. This type of behavior would have been unacceptable at the JWMarriott. This experience alone confirms our future choice of Marriott over Willard for annual DC visits.
