I wanted to love this hotel because I've been a Marriott bonvoy member for a very long time. This was a downtown hotel with lots of things with him walking distance. I felt $39 for valet parking was very high, especially since the first night my car was not even parked in their lot. I actually felt that they should have refunded part of the valet fee since my car was parked a block and a half away in an unattended lot. I actually felt that for $39 per night that the cars should have been in a garage. The hotel was nice, though we were looking for something to eat late at night after 10:00 p.m. and didn't realize that the sports bar stop serving food after 10:00 p.m. and the restaurant upstairs was packed and very loud. We ended up ordering out doordash which was easier and quicker especially since it was pouring down rain outside. The desk wasn't always staffed while we were there, that included when we called on the phone at 7:00 p.m. to speak with someone and the phone just rang and rang and rang, it also included daytime when we were looking to speak with someone at the front desk and there was no one there. A desk in a downtown hotel should be staffed 24 hours a day. When we booked our room I didn't realize my mother would need a handicapped room. When we finally did get a hold of someone a little bit after 7:00 on that first evening we were able to move to a room that was supposedly handicapped but wasn't quite as I expected it would be. Yes there were rails everywhere in the bathroom but the toilet was low and what really blew my mind was there was a bathtub and anyone who's handicapped like let's say in a wheelchair is not going to be able to get into the bathtub or out very easily. There was a seat underneath the sink that could be set up in the tub but how would somebody if they were handicapped get into and out of it. The first room we had had a nice shower that you could practically walk in without having to climb over the edge of a bathtub. I would have felt that would have been much better of an option for someone handicapped. Drawer space in both rooms was non-existent. In the handicap room there was one drawer underneath the fridge. In the other room there were two drawers. We were there for the weekend, we operated out of the suitcase. They were all so only four hangers. It seemed to me a bit ridiculous that there wasn't enough storage space for someone who might want to unpack if they were there for a week or longer than a weekend. In fact, I've never been in a Marriott hotel that didn't have more storage than this one. It was a bit odd to me. The staff was friendly, helpful, the little store downstairs was nice to pick up some drinks or some snacks, I'm unsure where we would have heated up the frozen dinner or pizza that were in the freezer in that little store since we didn't have a microwave in our hotel room. It was nice that the hotel was close to comfest that was happening while we were visiting the area and that North market was just a block up. It was nice that you could walk to things and weren't always reliant on your car. Again I really wanted to like this hotel thoroughly, but there were just things that didn't make sense and were problematic to me. But since we were there for an event, we didn't have a choice of the hotel for that event. read more

Very nice upscale hotel. Location is good, near lots of shopping and lots of food options!!! Also near the Crew stadium and just down the street from a super cute little quiet park with lots of walking paths. The only bummer is the club directly across the street that was bumping profane music, which was kind of annoying. DON'T park in the parking adjacent to the hotel in the liquor store parking lot. It looks like you can pay to park but the church reserves the lot for Sundays so you WILL GET TOWED if your car is in there overnight. We didn't realize it said 3am, not 3pm, so both our car and my father in-law's car got towed. Luckily the tow lot is just .9miles down the street so just a walk away. I guess we'll just valet and stay in the hotel parking lot next time, would be worth it. Cute rooms! Very nice, clean, tidy, well laid out with lots of little amenities throughout for how compact the room is. Big bathroom, which is nice!!! LOTS of outsets and USB outlets for charging. Definitely no view in the room we had though. We could just see the cement ceiling part of whatever hotel structure is below us. They could possibly put some decor or something low maintenance out there just for some sort of view. The room coffee was decent! I appreciated the two creamers included, some hotels don't include any creamer, which it at that point the coffee is pointless to me. Luckiy my fiance drinks his black so I was able to use the creamers. I appreciated this little detail. I also do like the full size shampoo/conditioner/body wash in the rooms, as sometimes those tiny little things don't even have enough in one for my hair alone let alone anyone else that is staying with me. We had these rooms on points so value for the price I'm honestly not sure. But I definitey wasn't dissappointed by any means! read more

It is a cute hotel but it was dirty. The bathroom had stains and hair from previous guest... the room itself is good, pillows and bed are comfortable and they give you mini waters and have a nice coffee bar in their bar area. read more

Watch out for this hotel. The night we stayed, multiple cars were broken into. The windows were smashed leaving us without a window for our drive home. The hotel parking lot also was hit another time this month, but security does not appear to have been adequately increased. Although the staff was very pleasant, they had no idea how to handle this issue and adequate compensation was not offered to impacted guests. read more

I will start by saying that the hotel staff were all very friendly, and accommodating. The hotel itself looks nice, clean, and modern. However that's where the positives end for me. We booked a king suite room. The room itself was large so there was plenty of space for our family. However the separated bedroom has no door. It's just wide open to the rest of the suite, so there's no privacy from our kids at all. The next issue is with the bathroom door, I guess they went for style over function, because the sliding glass rattles so loudly that if someone tries to use the restroom at night it woke everyone up. The light also shines through the door and lights up the whole suite. Our room was situated next to the highway so there was a lot of highway noise, the sound machines we brought with us did not help block this out. There was also a cheer or gymnastics competition staying at the hotel, the ceilings are so thin and not sound proofed that we could hear the girls above us practicing their routines, constant thuds from tumbling etc. The website said breakfast included but this was not the case, there is a charge for it, and it did not look worth the money. I'm glad I packed some breakfast items for my kids because North Market doesn't open across the street until a bit later. Updating a few days later: We booked this hotel using a business credit card. When I checked in I put my personal card in for incidentals. I was assured the card we booked with would be the one charged for the room. NOT THE CASE. The business card was charged for parking. My personal card had the full price of the room charged. This is not ok. read more

They rip you off and add a bunch of additional charges after you book your room. Within an hour of checking in I got an additional $50 charge. Then 4 hours later got a $40 additional charge for the valet parking that I refused. The room was $171 and I was charged over $370 plus $50 plus $40. This place should be investigated!! Also the ad said free breakfast but after we get there we find out that they charge you $21 a person for breakfast so we had to go somewhere else for breakfast. Place is a Rip Off!! read more

If you are planning to stay in this hotel you need to seriously know one thing before booking. One half of this hotel is absolute Hell. These are the even numbered rooms. This side of the hotel faces an establishment called Callahans. This is a night club, that produces excruciatingly loud music and noise until 2:30 am. The hotel boasts that they provide sound machines to buffet the sound. Sadly, that does not work. The bass alone coming from Callahans rattles the windows. They will also tell you that they call the police every night, unfortunately as the saying goes...it is what it is. So, if you must stay here. Call in advance and secure an odd numbered room on the opposite side of the hotel. Further this hotel is a logistical nightmare. They offer three elevators but only two work. You share one with the cleaning staff, that is the main elevator and it can take more than 20 minutes to get to and from the lobby. The third elevator goes to the 8th floor. This is where the breakfast and rooftop bar are located. It's a tad annoying to have to go up to the 8th floor for coffee and back down to lobby. It takes a lot of wasted time. I won't mention the $6 banana fee. lol. The rooms are standard AC rooms, they are nice, the showers...meh. Water pressure is terrible. My two cents. We stayed here once last year and had zero issues. This year we were put in a room facing the night club across the street and we are in hell. The bass is so loud we can't sleep and it's only 1130pm. This club stays open until 230am... Secondly the pillows were terrible. We called the front desk for new ones and they brought us some but with no pillow cases... and they were smaller than the ones provided on the bed -_- Honestly we won't be staying here ever again. read more

The AC is a solid choice if you are staying in the Short North / Convention Center area. If you need meeting space, the AC is Five Star with the rooftop conference rooms. The hotel rooms are modern and the front desk service is Five Star. The only asterisk with this venue is that the bar food menu is limited. To make up for that, the valet and check-in will WOW you. The only way to park in the hotel parking lot is the additional $39/day valet parking, otherwise head out into the sketchy neighborhood and look for a spot. Also, if you do choose to use the valet out of concern for your safety, the attendant will collect a list of information including your cell phone number. The 'breakfast' consists of battered and bruised fruit, questionable looking oatmeal and a scant selection of what our group called "sweaty looking meat". the breakfast is $19-$20. The hotel is clean, modern, and very conveniently located within a five-minute to the convention center. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Things I particularly like are that the hotel isn't huge, so there aren't crowds, but it's still located near everything you need, especially if you're here for a convention. The bathroom is roomy, and the beds are comfy. Also there's great food at the Lumin Sky Bar. I would definitely stay here again! (My one small complaint is that there's no microwave in the room.) read more

Great hotel near the convention center but not right on top of it. Only a year old so the property did not suffer from wear and tear. Great staff. Clean rooms and a fridge in the room. Breakfast is classic European fare with a chef cooked egg option. Bar/restaurant on the 8th floor offers outside seating and is a nice place to work/hangout. Reasonable liquor and beer selections and the food was tapas based so you'll need to head elsewhere if you're really hungry. I'll be back and you should give them a try. read more

Insanely loud music and bass from bar across the street shook my room window till 2:30 AM. I was there for work and had to be up at 6 AM so I barely slept. The hotel was very nice, clean, friendly staff and in a good location. I have read other reviews that say it is noisy and I did hear the bar across the street a bit, but not enough to keep me awake. The rooms are very modern and sparse (most hotels are that way now unless they are older hotels) and I did miss having water in the room as a Platinum member of Marriott. The roof top bar was very cool. Most city hotels charge for valet which is annoying I agree, but it's how they get extra money plus parking in that lot would have been really challenging. I wish the little store would have had more variety of things to snack on. read more

We booked an executive suite. This suite has no closet, nowhere to hang ANY clothes and one teeny drawer that was FULLY occupied by a few bibles. There is apparently only one suite per floor and they are on the corner by the highway. It was pretty loud at night....all night. It was kinda hard to sleep. The furniture is awful to sit on, especially the couch and ANY chair. It was almost comical but we both have a good sense of humor. We laughed about it every time we came back to the room. The restaurant on the 8th floor has a really great view and the food selection looked good. The valet parking was 30 something dollars a day to have someone park my car literally 20 ft from the door of the hotel in a lot that is connected to the hotel. I would have paid the same money gladly to park myself and just keep my own keys. I'll probably steer clear of this place in the future. The area is fun though. Full of things to do. Trust me, I'm not a "Karen" but I know I would have so appreciated an honest review when I did my research so hope this helps someone. Newish hotel, with very friendly and helpful staff (Alex is great). However they have valet parking only for $33...in the open outdoor lot immediately beside the hotel (so you hand the keys to the valet and watch him park it 6 to 60 feet away), and they have a $100 pet fee (compared to the standard Marriott $75 pet fee). If you're in the freeway side it's a little loud at night. read more

I stayed at this hotel a few weeks ago for a convention and I will admit I was a bit anxious based on reviews. When we arrived and the hotel was surrounded by bars I was even more worried. It ended up being fine though; our room was by the highway on the sixth floor and while we could hear some highway noise it was in no way disruptive. The room was fine if a bit lacking in storage but the service was great. Further, the rooftop bar was beautiful and we ended up having drinks there most nights. The only real downside was the price of valet parking when the lot was next to the hotel. It was an obvious cash grab. But it was a really good stay overall and close to the convention center. read more

Customer service is very good. Front desk and. Valet attendants were very friendly. The rooms are very clean (not as large as I expected) And the beds are very cOm fortable. This is an extremely expensive hotel ( over $500 a night for two doubles) and one would expect a full breakfast buffet with eggs, bacon, waffles, etc. to be available in the mornings, however, there were minimal options. Soupy oatmeal; cold sliced soufffle; fruit and yogurt---all for purchase....not complimentary. In addition, if you want to park in attached parking, it's $33 a day valet. The front desk fails to warn you that one side of the hotel is across the street from a bar that plays live music till 2 in the morning, along with loud drunk people congregating on the sidewalk.
