We engaged with Acacia + Spruce for a whole home remodel and one very specific need - to design my kitchen and primary bathroom for wheelchair accessibility without it looking like a a hospital and not noticing that it is an accessible home. They took a very personal interest in this #greenwoodplace project and hit it out of the ballpark in so many ways.. So much attention was paid to heights and placement of fixtures and appliances to the point that the team spent hours developing what they thought was best for me before bringing me in to test their ideas. They were almost always spot on. A lot of attention was also paid to room design, furniture and rug selection to create beautiful, open spaces that would be easy to live in whilst in a wheelchair. Acacia + Spruce also project managed the remodel work. Because I am in a wheelchair, it was difficult for me to live in a hotel during the remodel and I wanted to be out of the house for the shortest feasible amount of time. Acacia + Spruce managed the a tight timeline with multiple trades and we were back in our house in an unheard of short amount of time! Finally, our home is absolutely beautiful. I find joy in every room that was touched. We love having people over to entertain but also love hanging out in all of the spaces that were created while home alone. A+S remodeled our bathrooms. Their project manager was amazing and did a wonderful job coordinating the contractors and ensuring things moved forward. Our bathrooms were original to the house, and they were absolutely hideous. For a very reasonable price, A+S revamped them from top to bottom. Now we love them! The A+S team was also realistic with us about other remodels we wanted to explore. Because of their sound advice, we made decisions that made sense for us while still upgrading our home quite a bit. read more

This review is long overdue!! Acacia & Spruce remodeled our kitchen and living area, designed a new fireplace, installed new floors, and put in fabulous wallpaper for our master bedroom. From our first call to Michael and Alyssa to the final reveal - there are not enough words for us to express how happy we were with their work on our home. A&S and especially the project manager, Alyssa, worked with us on every aspect - design, choosing colors, products and fixtures, and working within our budget. They also helped us pick some fabulous furniture pieces for our remodeled spaces from rugs to home accessories. A remodel can be quite stressful, but A&S made the process so easy. They were patient when we had to make choices, offered ideas, and were so prompt in dealing with any issues that came up. Alyssa did a fantastic job organizing and scheduling the different contractors that worked on our home, and accommodated our need to keep our time out of the house to a minimum. Our experience with Alyssa and Michael at Acacia + Spruce was a huge disappointment. Alyssa came over for our initial meeting and we discussed our ideas, budget, timeline, and I even had a pinterest page prepared to give them a sense of our vision. We had just bought our first home and were so excited to make it beautiful, but after over a month and two other meetings, we had made zero progress. We were up front about our budget from the beginning, yet they tried to push furniture on us that was way out of our budget and seemed to only show us pieces they had in their showroom, which was not our style at all. We specifically told them we wanted our furniture to come from a variety of sources at the beginning, but this was obviously not taken into account. I believe this is a flaw in their business model. They make money on the furniture you buy, not an hourly fee, so it makes sense they try to push expensive furniture on you. I should have realized that from the get go, but they were fully aware of our budget and Alyssa assured us they could work within our budget. Long story short, after a month of waiting patiently and seeing no progress and a while of not hearing from them at all, I sent them a text politely asking when we will start to see some progress, or at least some sort of renderings or plans. They responded "I think it's best if you find options on your own. I don't think we are a good fit for your project and budget constraints. Best of luck." I was in shock and disbelief at the unprofessionalism and just rude nature of this response. We had been up front about our budget, timeline, and project from the beginning, so this made no sense and was so heartbreaking to hear. So yeah, they bailed on us after we wasted a month of our time on them and I had to start over. Luckily, I found a wonderful designer at a different company and our house is coming along beautifully. I'm so thankful we did not give them any more of our business. Perhaps Acacia + Spruce is better at staging homes or designing for those who have unlimited time and money with no opinions of their own. Don't make the same mistake we did. Due to a disability, there were many tasks I couldn't manage, including driving my car down. Acacia and Spruce undertook the entire project of management, design, furniture purchasing, renovation, packing/unpacking, moving, donating belongings, organizing storage, setting up technology, bringing my car, and facilitating vendors such as hvac and plumbing. My husband and I were SO pleased with Michael and Alyssa's work on the interior design of our downtown condo, that we knew we wanted to rehire them to help with our new home in North County.
