This is the most well organized and and clean World Market location in San Diego! They have a wonderful selection of items like home decor, trinklets and novelty snacks. What really stood out to me is how wonderful and helpful the employees are at this particular location. The associates Sreeja and Aubrey in particular have gone above and beyond to help me with any questions or concerns I've had in the past few visits. In my humble opinion, they both deserve raises!! I drive all the way from Downtown San Diego to get this kind of outstanding customer service and it is well worth the drive! read more

This is the closest World Market near me, since the Escondido location closed down years ago. This is a good place to get gifts, holiday decor, and imported food. Lots of unusual choices, and a place to maybe get something quickly if you don't want to go to, say, and Asian supermarket. They have the 55% off tagged food items that are near the sell-by date, a good bargain if you want to try something out. They have a rewards program that sometimes offers a free item with purchase, or rewards certificates for participating in a buy-more-save-more promotion. Pay close attention to the rules for these, because they can get confusing. Great decor items for Halloween and Christmas, if you know someone that's a big fan. Employees have all been helpful, when I've had questions or issues with a promotion. read more

Love World Market! They have such a great variety of food and fun items from around the world. The holidays are especially fun and the store has an awesome assortment of sweets and ornaments. World Market has a little bit of just about everything. From furniture to kitchen ware, it truly is a one stop shop. The only thing they do not really have are cold or frozen foods. They also have a rather large wine, beer, and soda assortment. It is fun to wander around and shop or you can even order online for pickup (and if you are a member there is usually a coupon that saves you a bit). Great location in a small shopping center. In my 20 years of loyal shopping at Cost Plus World Market, I've never encountered management as downright awful and questionable as I did during this recent fiasco. For Christmas, my sister (bless her heart, but absolutely no sense of style) gifted me the most atrocious "convict chic" bomber jacket you could imagine. Naturally, I thought I could exchange it for something far more delightful--like some Hello Kitty noodles--but oh no, I was instead treated to a customer service disaster starring MOD Linda. After waiting a ridiculous 20 minutes for her to emerge and assist the handful of customers in the store, it was painfully clear she was completely checked out mentally. When I explained I wanted to return the item, she flatly refused, citing some nonsense about needing a receipt. "It was a gift," I explained, but she couldn't have cared less. Her dismissive attitude was beyond rude, and to make matters worse, she was "training" another poor employee, seemingly passing on her terrible customer service habits. As a loyal customer for two decades--and a cardholder, no less--I expected better than this Wal-Mart-level treatment. Linda's behavior and lack of professionalism left a sour taste in my mouth, and frankly, I'm questioning if I'll continue shopping here after this trainwreck of an experience. I prefer going to the World Market in La Mesa whereas my husband prefers the one in La Jolla. However with the holidays coming up and my not wanting to deal with the shopping traffic with either, I decided to drive up to the one in 4S Ranch. Now out of the three, I think I like this place the most! For one it's bigger! It also has more parking since it mainly shares a lot with Ulta (which is also convenient!). I got my holiday shopping done and was happy afterwards. Next time I need to go to World Market I may consider the drive out to 4S Ranch and go to this one! read more

A friend and I went into Costco plus because she had rewards money to spend... We found a few things on clearance but then at cash register a sales gal. Rebecca said that it was not on clearance and that it was mis marked and insinuated that we put a clearance sticker on items... When we decided to go back And go through the store and look for other items, she followed us around and asked if we were going to buy the items, if not, she wanted them back... She harassed us several times throughout our visit there... Thank goodness we found Linda I think the manager and she gave us the markdown price that it was priced at. Rebecca came up and asked us again if we were purchasing the items it was very uncomfortable and unnecessary.... Not ok!! I've been in the retail/sales industry all of my life. Unique sourdough craft beer ring pretzels. Uh, yes, yes, yes! I received a bag of Unique sourdough craft beer ring pretzels for Christmas from Karen N and devoured it in a day. She said she bought them from here so stopped by tonight after an event. They were buy 1 get one free! So I bought 2 cases of 12 each. 24 bags. Yes, gluttony is a sin. But these pretzels are sooooo good. The store sells other snacks, treats, wine, beer, and furniture. Clearance sections are located on the back of the end caps. Snacks are frequently 55% off. ***COVID curbside**** this is my 2nd choice world market...only b/c of distance from my home ...but this location has what I need in stock more often. years ago I had purchased a coffee table here...still loving it! my kids recently decided that they were too big for the dining bench (which is great since I wanted the bench to be moved to the front door). I had already purchased 2 additional chairs (now 4 total) from world market last year...but they didn't have seat cushions like the other 2. thank goodness that world market still carries the EXACT SAME cushions I had purchased over 8 years ago. La Jolla was out of stock...but 4S had them available. I ordered for store pickup and got a confirmation that my order was ready within a couple hours. we parked and called in (linked in email)...they asked if I wanted anything else added to my order and brought out (how amazing!) this is the best way to shop! seriously my favorite part of COVID! read more

Don't order online from this store, they are lazy and inefficient, so by the time they actually got to pulling the items most of them were not there and they didn't bother telling us the things we ordered weren't available until we arrived to pick up the order. But we could see the things we ordered in other shoppers' bags while we were there. Never going back to this store. read more

They said that they were too backed up and they didn't have my ornament so I figured I could just go and exchange it for another one. I, on a whim, visited this store after getting a drink at Panera. To my amazement and joy, I found the table and chairs that I needed for Mom. Kristina (I hope that I have her name right) was courteous and very helpful. I did not plan on bringing a table and chair home that evening. She was so helpful to me in sourcing some outdoor furniture that displayed as "available" online but the website wasn't working so I couldn't actually purchase it online. She helped me purchase the furniture, kept tabs on it while it was in transit, and held it for an extra day once it arrived at the store. This is a far cry from a different, nearby World Market store member that literally said, "I can't help you". Love the new furniture set and the exceptional customer service. I love world market and the unique goods that it offers. It is one of my favorite stores for interesting finds..I order online lot of time and pick it up at this location.. While the staff is very helpful and courteous, I think in general the online order and pick up does not seem to be streamlined for world.market...it has been three times now that i have had to wait almost 10.minutes to pick up an order which was supposed to be ready. First had to wait to helped, then they could not find my order, once they found it , it was not wrapped how it should have.. Will this make me stop coming to the store or ordering online? This is a convenient location at 4S Ranch. Their located in the same shopping center as Karl Strauss, Ralphs, Wendy's. They have decent parking but it can get tough to find a space as they share the same lot with other big tenants. We stopped by yesterday to pick up some wine and cards for a graduation party. The set up is a bit cramped but I think that's typical of Cost Plus. They just have a lot of cool junk (I mean that in a good way). There's such a variety of items (household, novelty gifts, coffee, candy, etc) that you could easily lose yourself to daydream about if you had more time. The wine selection was decent. The prices though weren't. I think we could have found better priced wines at Ralphs just a few doors down. But we were here so why not. The wine cost about $41. Not sure why friend picked this particular red wine (a 2015 Napa red wine) but it tasted fruity, bold, and strong. Check out was alright. The cashier was aloof but friendly. The greeting cards are located up front FYI. I think they were $3.99 or so each. Overall, a fun location that I'd visit again if I was in the area. read more

Just awful customer service. Over an hour to get my curbside order that I called and confirmed was in stock to pick up. I paid online and used the Mother's Day coupon. They said it didn't go through so I had to pay at the counter. My kids were sleeping in the car so she took my credit card. Didn't put in the sale price so I ended up getting a FLOOR model for full price. Just a joke at this point. Would never return to his location again. A bunch of trash talking clock punchers working here. La Jolla store is much much better with people who actually understand their job. read more

This week I went in to grab a dad gift and thought this would be perfect, beers around the world. By far one of the best man gifts!! One of our new favorites is Fuji Apple Sake!! It is so yummy! It's a must try! We also purchased during our visit, a pet bed! When I seen it I knew my furry princess had to have it! Now I usually don't buy pet beds because every time I go to petco their bed are extremely overpriced, I started shopping at Chewy.com for all our pet needs. Their website is very reasonable and I purchase every pet item from them. But this bed was calling my name instantly when I seen it. It wasn't a fluffy one that I'll throw away in 4-6 months. I've been becoming a big fan of World Market, especially around Thanksgiving/Black Friday when they have great sales and freebies. I dropped by here on Black Saturday and Sunday to grab a couple of things. Saturday, things were ok. The long wasn't long and they had two cashiers. Sunday morning, we dropped in to grab some gifts and wine and thought we'd be out in 15 minutes. Wrong. There was only one person at the registers; one employee was manning the giveaway table in the back and one was manning the front door, giving away the freebie slips. The person at the register was having some issues with ringing up a customer's purchase and we were in line for 20-25 minutes and there were only 5 customers ahead of us. The employee at the door finally decided to open up a register and our turn came quickly after that. I don't blame the employees, I blame management for not having enough staff on the floor to help. They probably didn't anticipate a crowd on Sunday morning, but you must always have backup. Also, another thing I noticed was that they keep their overstock on the top shelves above the items. I guess this is because they have no stockroom (?) but it's very unsightly and potentially dangerous. This might be specific to this location because I did not see this at our World Market in West Hills. I still like the store and they have great deals on wines. I'll be back. read more

When I enter in World Market I don't know if I am in an elevator (that sweet Brazilian music they put as background) or in a French movie (those remixed oldies from the cutest Frenchie singers of the 60s)...what I know for sure that if you are a fan of Tower Eiffel paraphernalia...that is your shop! I have even created a Facebook album called "Eiffel tower seems to follow me" with all the images of this iconic monument. Why there? Mistery! Ok, other than toilet paper shaped with the icon of La Cité de l'amour, you can also get pretty decent chocolates. From all over the world, including their generics that are also excellent and a very good prices. I have my own list of things that I shop there and nowhere else: -Eiffel tower related useless yet cool items -Castelvetrano olives -Anchovies from Spain (canned) -Chocolate filled with orange and rasperry -Finnish candy -Fancy pasta from Italy -Wine Also got several items to decorate my apartment, such as pretty curtains at very good price, pillows, candles and things for the bathroom (much stylish that Bath and Beyond conservative look). The best for me this week: if you are a member, you get your $10 gift certificate. There is usually a coupon that's sent in the mail weekly to keep you coming back similar to Bed Bath and Beyond. The associates welcome everyone and are very eager to help. She said it wasnt in stock but didnt even take time to check. I wasnt put on hold she just assured me it wasnt. After every question she keep trying to end conversation. I am honestly so disappointed. I go to this store all the time as it is very close to my house but I just had the most uncomfortable situation with a cashier named Edgar. I went to check out and the entire time he barely said two words to me, didn't tell me the total or anything, just asked if I wanted a bag. I met him know I had to coupons and he just seemed so irritated, he wouldn't look me in the eye, he was just acting like I was such a bother. To make matters worse, I totally forgot that I had an item I wanted to return and use for store credit. I said to him, "omg! I am so so sorry! I forgot I wanted to return this item and use it towards this purchase" he proceeds to not say a word and then just cancel the transaction extremely pissed off. He asks me if I still have the card I wanted to use, and I told him i didn't have that particular one and he just started at me..... looking so mad. I was honestly so uncomfortable I just told him nvm I'll come back when I have the card. So then he has to cancel my transaction again and re-ring me up. I apologized and he still said nothing. I was so nervous because he seemed like he was going to scream at me.... While he was ringing up my items again I asked him , " can you not get store credit for return items then?" And he looks at me so dumbfounded and said..." I thought you wanted it on the card?" And I replied " I told you I wanted to use it towards this transaction?" And he didn't say a word..... just starred at me.... And then he goes "do you still want this !?" And I was like yes.... So he rings me up and scans my two coupons again just being so mad at me. Truthfully made me feel awful for no reason when he was the one who was being unhelpful and irritated from the beginning. I didn't get a chance to return my item either. Very disappointing. After checking my receipt also, my first coupon for a 20% off a full price item, didn't even go through and he did not tell me. It also expires today, 1/8 so that is extremely frustrating. I had more points I wanted to exchange today as well that I applied to my cart, but I was to nervous to even ask him since he was in such an awful mood and clearly so annoyed with me. Hopefully he just had a bad day, because if this is how he acts with everyone , I don't think he should have a customer service position. read more
