In my current situation, as I am living in my minivan, the support I receive here is life-changing. But beyond the resources, the real heart of this place is Nancy. She is a Godsend. She doesn't just see a person in need; she sees me. She is a true friend in God and an example of His love--I see God's image in her every time we speak. She encourages me and prays with me, and her words of wisdom stay with me long after I leave. She has this beautiful, positive, motherly energy that makes me feel seen, valued, and comforted. Sometimes she even makes me cry because she provides the guidance and care I've always longed for--the kind of motherly advice I wish I'd had. Today's visit especially made a huge, huge difference in my life; the way she loved me today felt like the way a mother truly loves her child, or like the way our Father in heaven loves His children. I am so grateful to her, more than words can express, and I absolutely adore her.

Felt like we were sitting in Italy under all the vines and trellises. We joined for the sourdough pizza on Friday nights (this might be a summer-only thing?) Each pie was so good! All the ingredients and toppings are fresh, locally sourced, and you can tell! This is a VERY kid friendly place. Nearly every table had children - newborns and toddlers mostly. Only negative I have to say is that due to how popular the pizza nights are, we were asked to give up our table and as we told the manager that we'd leave in a moment he then pushed further saying that a party was waiting for our exact table right then. I brought some of my belongings to the donation center, and while I was there, I decided to look…read morearound and see what they had for sale. I found a pair of sneakers without a price tag that fit me well and that I really liked. I took them to the register and asked how much they were. Without even thinking, the employee immediately said they were $25. I told him that shoes in a thrift store shouldn't cost $25 and asked for a lower price. He replied, "Okay, then they'll be $24." This was the worst customer service and the worst staff I have ever encountered. I'd rather go buy a brand-new pair of sneakers at a regular store than come back here or donate anything to this place again. I do not recommend this place to anyone. It's an awful place with an awful staff.

This last time we tried to purchase advance tickets to get in earlier and were told at the Lake Forest store they didnt have them and didnt know what we were talking about. Ive also made the suggestion while people are waiting in line to go through and collect their payment and give them their bag so they dont get bottlenecked when they open, but they havent taken that advice to heart :) Anyway, the last couple sales, people are bringing in strollers without children in them, bags from home and all sorts of other chaos which makes this not fun. You can fill A BAG, that they give you, for $20. If you want more, you are supposed to pay for another bag, not fill every stroller and IKEA bag you can bring with you. And you have people who run in and just start scooping things up which is clearly a reseller, which, ok - you pay $20 and you fill your bag with whatever you want, but its not like that. Its become extremely less enjoyable... people ruin everything, haha! I have noticed they also bring things out throughout the sale rather than having it all out at the beginning. I just think it could be run much smoother and user friendly.

Unfortunately Laura's House keeps most of the nice furniture & other items for themselves to either use in their store or forward it to another secret location. I have followed this habit of theirs now for several years and it both saddens and disappoints with this wrong practice.. So think twice when donating your loved items. Additionally Laura's House prices are very high and they even charge for bags (Mercy Warehouse Does Not) So if you have something really special or nice and of value please consider Mercy Warehouse in Laguna Niguel next to Vineyard Christian church. (who sends truckloads of items to disadvantaged churches etc in Mexico.)

We were told that clothing was 50% off the tagged price. It also felt like I was being followed in the very tiny store. Every time I touched something, someone was there either to tell me about a "sale" or warn me that the lid will fall off if I tip it. Right, okay. Hands off. I didn't see any jeans in my size but I did find this brand new flat lemon juicer from Dreamfarm I'd been wanting to buy for $3. So we bought it with cash. Credit card purchases are for transactions over a certain amount. Luckily, I had the cash on me. Not sure I would come back to this thrift store. While small, I didn't see the selection was worth it. I've found more things at other stores in the area.

Since music was such a big part of my childhood, I decided to see if adults were still allowed to sing anywhere besides their cars. A quick Google search brought up OC Sound Chorus, and it instantly felt like the sign I didn't know I was waiting for. I reached out and was warmly welcomed by Megan, who gave me all the information I needed for my first rehearsal. That first day was a blur. Joyce gave me a voice test and I ended up in the baritone section. The section with all the sass and none of the spotlight (perfect for me). Then I was greeted by a room full of wonderful, funny, supportive women who made me feel like I had walked into a reunion instead of a rehearsal. We started singing through the holiday repertoire, and honestly, I was shocked at how much fun I was having. But the moment that really stuck with me was the last song of the night, "How We Sang Today." We stood in a circle, held hands like some wholesome musical coven, and as the chords rang out, I felt tears prickling at my eyes. Actual tears. From singing. With strangers. I walked out thinking, "Yeah... I'm coming back." And I've been coming every week for the past 2 years. TLDR: I love this chorus, I love these humans, and yes, 10/10 would absolutely recommend.
