I frequent the parking lot sales at this location. I am not sure I will continue... This last time we tried to purchase advance tickets to get in earlier and were told at the Lake Forest store they didnt have them and didnt know what we were talking about. Ive also made the suggestion while people are waiting in line to go through and collect their payment and give them their bag so they dont get bottlenecked when they open, but they havent taken that advice to heart :) Anyway, the last couple sales, people are bringing in strollers without children in them, bags from home and all sorts of other chaos which makes this not fun. You can fill A BAG, that they give you, for $20. If you want more, you are supposed to pay for another bag, not fill every stroller and IKEA bag you can bring with you. And you have people who run in and just start scooping things up which is clearly a reseller, which, ok - you pay $20 and you fill your bag with whatever you want, but its not like that. Its become extremely less enjoyable... people ruin everything, haha! I have noticed they also bring things out throughout the sale rather than having it all out at the beginning. I just think it could be run much smoother and user friendly. read more

ATTENTION DONORS: You may want to consider donating to Mercy Warehouse or Goodwill and here's why:: We donate often expensive furniture in hopes that someone who is unable to afford brand new or retail store prices (esp in this current economy w gasoline, Insurance and food so high.)...i know when firsthand when donating special furniture, antiques, purses, jewelry, artwork etc.. We imagine a lucky person inheriting our loved possessions... Unfortunately Laura's House keeps most of the nice furniture & other items for themselves to either use in their store or forward it to another secret location. I have followed this habit of theirs now for several years and it both saddens and disappoints with this wrong practice.. So think twice when donating your loved items. Additionally Laura's House prices are very high and they even charge for bags (Mercy Warehouse Does Not) So if you have something really special or nice and of value please consider Mercy Warehouse in Laguna Niguel next to Vineyard Christian church. (who sends truckloads of items to disadvantaged churches etc in Mexico.) read more

They had clothing and furniture and other items that sell in their store the money goes towards women who have been abused. It's a good organization. They do give you a tax receipt. read more

They are always very appreciative of donations. Very glad that somebody can make use of the goods being donated. Staff here is always very friendly. read more

They claim to help people experiencing domestic violence: I lost my restraining order case against my abusive ex partner bc of the advice (or lack of advice) from Laura's house representatives. I keep hearing people recommend this place for help.... I wouldn't recommend calling them to my worse enemy. read more

my little girl and I were left stranded out on the street by this organization. if you're fleeing a dv situation and in desperate need of assistance, do not call this organization. Extremely concerned with how they are able to pick and choose, bringing families out to their "safe place" only to be left stranded and in a worse situation. read more

Being an intern for Laura's House has been one of the most rewarding experiences! I am currently a High School student so their flexibility and work was perfect for someone with a busy schedule. Darya was always willing to help me out when I needed something. Supporting and volunteering with an organization whose mission is very close to my heart, has been a highlight to my year. Very unprofessional. Got the run around for weeks and weeks. Was passed on to a minimum of 7 different people's voicemails and emails and no one ever could help. After several weeks of contacting different people, they replied back they couldn't help me and that I needed to go elsewhere. So disappointing! read more

I'm so saddened to see the reviews posted here about Donna. All I can say is that this wasn't my experience at all. Laura's House in an AMAZING place that touches and helps so many people. It turned my life around, and got me out of a terrible place in my life to a new life full of support, love, and happiness. The counselors are all excellent, caring, and compassionate. And the classes are INCREDIBLY powerful in their ability to reach people in ways that increase their sense of self-worth and empower them to take their lives back. I truly can't say enough good things about Laura's House and what it did for me. I found Donna to be friendly, kind, and knowledgeable. I had no problems with her at all. In fact, I always really liked her as a person. She was charming and funny, and always pleasant with my daughter. I attended group sessions, classes, workshops, and personal therapy sessions regularly for a couple of years at Laura's house. I must have walked through those doors hundreds of times over the years and always felt welcome. read more

I have nothing but amazing things to say about Lauras house. From the 10 week PEP program that I didn't think I needed but found extremely beneficial to the 1:1 therapy to the legal advice and help etc. I'm sad about the reviews about Donna. She is a tough woman but has a heart of gold. There is a process to their system but the system works. I found myself being annoyed at first but every step I took in the process helped me with a very positive outcome. read more

Yikes DONNA the front desk receptionist is VERY discriminative and this is NOT the place to be doing that. People who come here (from all walks of life and relationships that have been pure nightmares and trauma) should not have to DEAL with Donnas shit! Donna is not cut out for this job and even told me during my intake she was in past a ER nurse. I am sorry but Donna really needs to go back to school and get a degree in psychology/social work or counseling. I wont say what she said and did to me but it is of the utmost disrespectful, degrading, and after listening to her over the phone while waiting with other clients she really does seem and sound like a narcissistic personality to say the "LEAST". I had to go somewhere else (a wonderful local trauma center with therapists who have psyd/phd degrees in psychology/counseling/therapy who have no let me down. I am sorry but Larua's house (maybe because it's in OC) is a really terrible business and non-profit agency. I was referred by a friend too who works inhouse. Donna was so rude to me about personal things let alone how much money I make I began CRYING (when I was willing to make the drive from Lake Elsinore to OC to get the help I needed - - people DONT have money in the IE). Donna is not cut out for this position and I know I went to graduate school for psychology/LMFT. I guess you can call this a STING review in the psych world. Very unprofessional place and not SAFE emotionally. Why come here is safety is NOT here priority?!? eek! I am still so disgusted by this experience just horrible. read more

What a horrible experience with Donna on the phone right now and reading other comments on this review I'm not the only person who has had an awful experience with Donna the receptionist. Donna is not only patronizing but she's condescending and makes people feel horrible me for taking her time when calling to inquire information. Not only did Donna tell me that 'apparently I don't know what on a sliding scale means' but she also told me that she wasn't going to repeat herself again when inquiring about services. What an embarrassment for Laura's house to employee such an ugly person when the people inquiring are in need of patience, love and support. read more
