WOW! First of all this place has new owners - if you tried it before, I implore you TRY IT AGAIN! The food, the prices, the service, the location - all absolute perfection. Our party of 4 had the lobster mac n cheese (didn't get a pic of this because my son devoured it so quickly, YUM!), crab roll, clam chowder and 2 lobster dinners, plus a couple cold beers to wash it down. It was all amazing. Best lobster dinner I've had up here, and we've been coming to Maine for 14 years. The folks working here are all so attentive, kind, going above and beyond. Example - I don't care for the stuff in the body that you sometimes get with super fresh lobsters. Apparently this is a delicacy, but this Southern girl says no thanks. I asked if they would mind giving it a little dip to clean it out once broken. No rolled eyes, no hesitation, just absolutely YES. They cleaned it out, split it open and returned it to our table in a fresh boat. WOW! The lobsters were cooked to perfection. So tender, so juicy, so very fresh. The corn was crisp and amazing. Cole slaw is not usually my jam but their version was delicious! We cleaned our plates. The crab roll had tons of crab - super sweet and amazing. This is the best lobster roll in both taste and price. I had way too many lobster rolls during my trip to Acadia and I can confirm with 100% certainty that Acadia lobster is THE BEST. Not only do they flavor the lobster rolls well but the actual lobsters are boiled perfectly. Their corn is also sooo sweet and clam chowder amazing. The mussels were whatever and a bit gritty but regardless this place was sooo good. The only thing is i went on a boat tour and they said maine lobsters have specific restrictions ie you can't catch a pregnant lobster but we ate one with a lot of roe and it was delicious but maybe it isn't actually a maine lobster which in that case perhaps that's why this spot is soooo good???? We are glad we did because the minute we walked up to the very casual looking place we were warmly welcomed. The young man that took our order was friendly, fun, and helpful. The woman who brought us our meal was also upbeat and informative. I'm sure she is asked the same questions day after day but took time to instruct us on the fine art of lobster eating. Under new ownership and recently opened again! We were here last year for the other owners and loved it, so we came back. We ordered our lobsters and also indulged in a dozen mussels, Pinot Grigio and Downeast cider! Everything was delicious, staff was very friendly and even brought out a bowl of water for our dog. Dogs are welcome which continues with the wonderful theme of the area of Bar Harbor. We spent one week in Maine this year and came to Acadia Lobster Co twice because the standards for great lobsters and seafood was upheld. Very personable staff from greeting walking to the register to order, to the cashier and the staff that brings the food out. We really enjoyed our dinner at Acadia Lobster Company. My wife and I ordered the clam chowder, corn on the cob, steamed clams, and the brisket sandwich. All of the food was delicious, including the coleslaw, which in all honesty I do not like but always have to try. Pricing for our meal was completely fair, and the lobster costs (which we didn't get) were lower than what I would expect in the area. Some things that added to the experience, great staff. They all seemed happy to be there and were chipper chatting with us a little bit about the place and the cooking area. We chose to eat at the indoor picnic tables and they were clean, some places let their picnic tables get sticky, not so at ACL. Great spot indoor or outdoors. Finally, this made it a 5 star for me. THE BATHROOM WAS CLEAN!!! Seriously, so many places overlook the bathroom cleanliness. ACL bathroom was clean, smelled nice, well lit, and I really appreciated that. Prices are super reasonable: we got a 1.5+ pound lobster dinner ($35), 3 Maine lobster rolls ($23 each & served with really good chips and cole slaw), 2 clam clowders ($9 each and super delicious and worth it), steamers ($12.50), an extra side of corn, a western bbq burger, and 4 beers (good local ones for only $4 each) for a total of about $168. And, we ended up going back up for 2 blueberry cobblers (delicious and only $3 each). Food was amazing. Service was really good and the people were kind. We lust this place. We were carried inside by the wafts of bbq cooking outdoors. They, like so many, have staffing issues. Our first attempt they were closed due to a staff shortage. Our second pass we got lucky. We ordered the brisket and ribs with Mac n Cheese x2. I am so glad we came back! The brisket was melt in your mouth tender and the ribs fells off the bones. The dry rub on the ribs was fantastic and even though it came with BBQ sauce, it wasn't necessary. The Mac-n-Cheese was creamy with a solid amount of cheese. The noodles were not over baked so they held their shape nicely. We did not walk away hungry. Our next visit was only days later ad we wanted to try the smoked lobster. It is cooked, split, seasoned, and then smoked. While it was nicely seasoned, we found the tail meat quite chewy. The claws were yummy and the garlic butter was enough for the entire lobster.. It was a bit challenging to us who aren't raised in lobster territory to work through the process of retrieving the tasty morsels using a nut cracker and a plastic fork. While we weren't crazy about this choice we will defiantly be back for the BBQ dishes. The service is minimal. You order food at the counter, take your number, and choose a table inside or a picnic table outside. The food is delivered and that's the end of the service. There are dish tubs to place dirty dishes or baskets and trash cans for the remaining items on the tray. There is a single bathroom in an out building, much like a small storage shed. It is clean and meets expectations. We loved the small business vibe and if we lived closer would be frequent guests. read more

A nice stop right before the bridge into the tourist town of Bar Harbor. This felt very local and wasn't as overpriced as some of the other spots on the island, but still wasn't cheap! We had one Connecticut Lobster Roll and one Maine Lobster roll, potato salad, coleslaw, and clam chowder. It was all pretty good but the lobster portions seemed smaller than other places. The chowder was boiling hot which was great but I didn't think that through when it was so hot outside, but it was very good! The outdoor seating had tons of options and the umbrellas were great to stay in the shade. They had yard games setup that guests were enjoying and it was fun watching them cook the food outside. Thanks to Yelp I found this place!!! After a long drive, we arrived at our cottage and the other lobster place I planned to go to closed for the season. Here is a secret... do not eat inside Bar Harbor area, come miles away and hit some dive locations! There are plenty! We chose this location after eliminating two others. Glad we eliminated those two because when we passed the other locations they were jam packed with people. Acadia Lobster had a line, but it went fast enough where we could figure out our game plan for dinner. Seating was comfortable. We sat inside at a large double picnic table set up. The staff!! Let me tell you about the staff! They were amazing and so hardworking! The gal at the register was so patient and did not appear stressed at all with the line and amounts of people. She was bubbly and delivered service with a smile. A young man whom I call her partner in crime was a blast. He was on getting those drinks, delivering food and delivering their amazing blueberry pie. He was so much fun! He even interacted with the kiddos. There were two cooks that I saw. Dropping corn, picking out lobster, plating food ect. They had it down like a well oiled machine. We did not have to wait long for our food. One last employee I saw.... This older gentleman bussing tables and delivering food! Every employee I saw was working hard including him. The food was great. Potato salad was delicious. The lobster was juicy and soft shell. Pricing was perfect! They could charge an arm and a leg but, they did not. In Houlton, Maine lobster was $13.99lb a pound. We paid $44 for 2 lobsters and 2 sides. I appreciate a good honest business that does not take advantage or tourist. The BBQ was great! Of course it was no Texas or Carolina BBQ, but it was perfect for Maine, and I am not sure that is a fair comparison. A little fatty here and there but, fantastic flavor. The blueberry pie... that pie! Do not skip it! Made with small blueberries that pack a delicious punch. The bottom crust a little soft which I throughly enjoyed that this girl got up and got another piece! Only complaint the bathroom. I could tell they had a plan, but it needed to be tended too. A little mop here, wipe here an a spritz of something good smelling should do it. But, they still get 5/5 stars because that can be a simple fix. read more

There are several lobster pounds along the route to Acadia National Park. I'm glad we stopped here. They have land for the husband and sea for me! I am in Maine and by golly, I am going to get me a whole lobster! This place has fulfilled by dreams of the past 15 years since I last came here. I got the lobster dinner and you bet I finished that whole lobster all by myself. And yes, I know how to eat one. If you don't, I suggest checking out a youtube video before digging in. Spent the day in Bar Harbor but elected to get away from the hustle and bustle there for dinner. Saw this place on the way in and decided to give it a try. The kids were tired of lobster (I know, right?) and with a BBQ option prominently displayed, it was bound to please all. The decor is rustic and quaint without any pretension. Picnic tables littered both the inside and outside of the place and were full with a happy crowd. We ponied up in a line that wound past the cooks, furiously dropping lobsters into boiling pits and grabbing ears of corns from the depths with a smoker worthy of Texas BBQ competition pumping in the background. The menu offers 4 different bbq meats and lobster done several ways. But what makes it unique are the combinations in the mix. Unlike the kids I had not reached lobster saturation so lobster was definitely going on my plate. The combo of lobster and bbq seemed the perfect option as did the choice of meat. Pulled pork was touted as a speciality so I went that direction with sides of onion rings and bbq beans. Others in my party went for brisket and a combo called the perfect storm which featured steamers, mussels and a lobster followed with blueberry pie. The lobster was done perfectly, boiled to perfection and my pulled pork was smoked and caressed by bbq sauce. The beans were nothing short of amazing with hunks of brisket, smoked pork butt and sausage throughout. The kids did damage to the massive pile of mussels and steamers and the table quickly became a carnage of shells and lobster husks. Service here is spectacular. They have it down to a science with friendly tips and hints abundant. My server asked to hold onto our blueberry pie until we were done with our meal so he could warm it and add fresh whipped cream. It was delicious with little local blueberries aplenty. The prices were more than reasonable and were far better than the market price we saw in the Harbor.
