Place is awesome casual outdoor dining or indoor dining as well. The service was amazing and excellent very helpful in ordering food. The Lobster roll was very yummy and filling plenty of meat the chowder was just as delicious and delicious the fish plate was two big pieces of fresh fish it was really delicious.
Great prices and atmosphere! Different sections inside and out to sit down and eat. Very casual. Full bar. Good selection of different seafood. I got the lobsta of course! Stuff for non seafood folks too.
Great lobster, great price. Order at the counter. Wait at a table. Eat great food. Pretty simple spot!
Good quality and cheap lobsters, live or cooked. They have a double lobster (~$24) or triple lobster (~$30) options, which are probably the best deals. Comes with melted butter only but very satisfying. They offer indoor seating with heat, and balcony seating.
We stopped here on a whim and we're so pleasantly surprised. It's more casual than all the other spots and prices were a lot better. We loved our chowders and the chicken tenders were surprisingly good. Sitting on the patio upstairs had an amazing view and was really fun. The homemade flavored lemonades with gin or vodka were unreal. I'd highly recommend coming here!
We went to lunch as we were looking for a place to get something other than a lobster after a week of filling up on lobsters. We found mussels and fish and chips here so we figured this would be our spot. We added the lobster bisque thinking it would be a good idea. It was not, very sweet and mostly cream. The fish was battered in panko and very nicely cooked flakey! The mussels were also great especially with the tomato scallion broth on the side to dip in, the best mussels we had while on vacation honestly. The seating was cute with the tackle box holding the condiments and a roll of paper towels for napkins. Great umbrellas keeping the sun out of our faces but letting the warmth on our skin on the patio. The bathroom was very clean and is out back out of sight from the front seating. We would definitely come back for the fish and chips and mussels. Forego the lobster bisque!
Food really good! Fresh seafood and the price is right! Not too expensive. They have dine in indoor and outdoor. Restroom in the back of the restaurant. Service is like fast food restaurant. You order than paid first. When we got there we only wait 10-15 minutes for our food! The corn so sweet. You can't go wrong with the lobster meal
This is a real deal lobster pound!!! No BS, no frills, great service, great crew, priced right. I had a big lobster and a couple of pounds of steamers, and everything was prepared to perfection. The steamers were treated the way clams should be and had no sand! The lobster, 1.8lb, was steamed to absolute perfection, and even the tail, which sometimes can get tough, was tender. All meals include a roll of paper towels which you will need!!! If you O ur crew is all about lobster, this is the palce!!!! Thanks, Edgewater, for a great dinner!!!
My wife and I were visiting Acadia NP when we passed through the little town that this restaurant was in. We noticed this place and made plans to stop here for dinner on our way back from the park. That ended up being a fantastic decision. This place had the best pure lobster roll we had on our Maine trip. On top of that, we got to sit at their newly built bar and we met some really nice people, both staff and other patrons. This was just a fun, low key experience that's definitely worth checking out. As I mentioned, my wife and I both got lobster rolls and on top of that, we ordered some steamed mussels, my wife had a lobster bisque and I had a clam chowder. The mussels tasted very fresh and the meat inside them were a pretty good size. I absolutely loved my chowder. It was thick and creamy, but not too thick, there were tons of clams and potatoes adding not only great taste, but awesome mouthfeel as well. My wife was a little mixed on her bisque, but I'm not a fan of bisque and I enjoyed it when I tasted it. The lobster rolls were packed with big, juicy, tender chunks of lobster meat. You could see whole claws in this sandwich, there was more lobster than roll, which is just how i like it! If you're in the area, this is a wonderful spot to grab an awesome lobster roll. The bar is a fun place to grab a drink after a long day of hiking the national park. The vibe is very chill and a great place to relax and have a good meal.

This is the place to go for lobster! Skip Bar Harbor's ridiculously overpriced options and get fresh, delicious lobster dishes at Downeast Lobster Pound! We got a single steamer lobster, a lobster roll, and the New England clam chowder. Everything was amazing and super fresh. They pre-crack the steamer lobsters for you, which made it pretty easy to get all the meat out without too much fuss or mess. The clam chowder was also very tasty - they hit that perfect consistency of thick and creamy without it being gloopy or too heavy. Be aware - this is a no frills place. If you're looking for cozy or chic dining, go to Bar Harbor. You place your order at the counter and then go sit until your food is ready to pick up. There is a nice open/partially wind shielded upstairs deck as well as a little inside area. It was plenty comfortable to eat and hang out.

Was looking for a lobster pound for reasonably priced lobsters and this place was okay. $15.95 per pound that includes the jumbo soft shell lobsters. Was told it was a great deal.. so decided to order 2 lobsters and it was 4.9 lbs, $78 total with 2 corns. They were sweet and huge but not sure it was worth it. I still prefer the 1.25 pound lobster and just get 2. The steamers were expensive $20 for just a pound and will definitely not order it again.. but the clam chowder was great. For $125, it was too much money, we were satisfied but was hungry a few hours later. But its bar harbor, nothing is cheap and you have a great view of the Cadillac mountain. I live part time in Maine, so this review may have been biased because there's plenty of other places that's cheaper than this spot. read more
Just went there this afternoon. Downeast is across the street from Trenton Bridge Lobster Pound (which seems to be slightly more popular). I chose Downeast because I've heard good things about it. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my twin lobster combo (two smaller lobsters with corn & butter, $30 altogether). My husband had the $36 lobster melt, which someone else reviewed poorly and I sort of understand why. The lobster melt definitely seems to be overpriced. It's hard to understand why it's $6 more than the twin lobster combo. But they must price them with enough reasons. I'm not running the business, so I'm just looking at it from a customer's perspective. read more
This places proves that 'dives' can be great and not to judge a restaurant by its appearance. The food and people here are beyond awesome. It's the opposite of fancy. What it is is food done very well. Dog friendly too. I had the fish and chips. My go to at seafood restaurants. The fish was among the best I've ever had. Fries were ok but I didn't go for the fries. My wife had a lobster melt. She liked it better than the five star lobster roll she had the night before. Coleslaw was kinda a throw away-needs work. In the expensive side but for an occasional visit-it's worth it. read more

My family enjoyed the Maine lobster dinner here after a day at Acadia and Bar Harbor. Very reasonably priced and tasty lobsters with drawn butter and a side of corn on the cob. read more

Again, STILL THE BEST PLACE FOR WHOLE LOBSTER. I don't even KNOW why people go into bar harbor to pay more money for rougher lobster. COME HERE. All the places on this road are pretty good but this is my fave for sure! read more

When in Rome, I mean, Maine. Lobster lobster lobster. We literally had lobster at least twice a day. As we were driving into Bar Harbor we wanted to visit a lobster shack and came upon this spot. There prices were great ! $39 for 2 (1.25pd) lobsters & muscles and 2 sides. We were looking for hard shell lobsters, but were told this time around the year the lobsters are between hard and soft shell. This might of explained why the meat looked shrink and a pool of water came out when we opened it. Other than that it was all tasty and fresh. There were amble of parking and a roof deck seating area. read more

Our first lobster meal of our Maine trip on our way into Acadia did not disappoint! A welcoming spot with friendly staff and corn hole to play while waiting for our order. We shared a lobster roll, fish and chips, and lobster bisque which were tasty and fairly priced but found beer to be a little steep ($7 for a can of Allagash). read more

This place was the best. I know because I've been road tripping from HN to Acadia National Park and down the coast to Boston, Ma. This is at the gate way of the park. Plan to have a Lobster Roll on the way in and plan to have Fresh Boil on the way out. I missed my chance for the fresh boil Lobster... so don't be me. The lobster Roll was the best, lots of meat falling off the sandwich. The service and kindness of the employees is on point. A must stop. Don't drive by. read more
Best lobster roll and whole lobster we had in Maine so far! The lobster rolls in Portland and Bar Harbor were great but this place beats them in price and freshness of the lobster. Have you tasted lobster meat so sweet? Yup, this is the place. Corn on the cob was a bit disappointing...way too small for $2. Also the lobster meal comes with butter, coleslaw, and corn when you get the 1 and 1.5 lbs. Also, cleanest bathroom facilities for a lobster shack. Nice outdoor and indoor spaces!! read more

Yummy lobster roll. Very fresh. No mayo on it, which I love. Slightly smaller than what I'm used to in Maine, but delicious. Also, the people are friendly, the place had a stove we parked ourselves in front of, AND they are dog friendly! Of note: We went to THREE places before this one. Not one was open. Not one had an update on yelp, which is how we had chosen them. Not one had voicemail saying they were closed, so we only found out after driving out of our way each time then pulling in. So kudos to these folks for staying open in October! read more

We randomly found this place on our drive back from cadillac mountain, Maine to our hotel. There are many other lobster dives on the same road as this restaurant. All lobster reasonably priced in this area, esp compared to portland (maine's main city where the same lobster would probably be approx $30 or more per lb). Approx $20 for 2 lobster (1lb each) with 2 sides is a deal but normal price in Trenton, Maine. Lobster is cheaper in Maine because Maine is only US east coast location that lobster is picked up from. There is 2 types of lobster: 1. The soft shell which has less meat bc the lobster is younger. But the meat is juicier and sweeter. This is my preference. 2. The hard shell which has more meat bc the lobster is older. It's alil less sweet, but still very good. Lobster is boiled live on the spot when ordered and you can pick you own lobster. People are freindly. There is indoor, outdoor area, and a rooftop deck to eat on. My favorite place to eat in Maine so far. read more
Wednesday, Sep 28, 2022: We were on our way to Bar Harbor, having driven from Portland-Wiscasset-Augusta and Bangor during the day. I spotted this place and quickly turned in, hoping to be able to eat dinner because I was uncertain of what would be open by the time we arrived in Bar Harbor. I walked up to the window and they took us in without hesitation, right before they were starting to close at 8 pm. We were so grateful and delighted to partake in our first whole lobster dinner in Maine! The owner, Mike, even allowed my husband to handle the lobsters for a photo op! I found the pricing to be inexpensive; 2 lobsters for $24. The lobster tails are split down the middle with a knife before serving. We ordered the whole bellied clams, which were battered and fried to perfection. The New England Clam Chowder was also very good. The best part about our experience was that we did not feel rushed at all and were made to feel very welcomed, despite arriving right at their closing time. We even had a wonderful conversation with Mike and literally shut the place down that evening. We enjoyed our dinner so much that we returned the following day for lunch, where we ordered a 3 lobster dinner (which is the better deal, amounting to $30 or $10 per lobster). We also had steamer clams and lobster bisque (I prefer their New England Clam Chowder). Moreover, unlike many of the lobster pounds in the area, they have INDOOR SEATING! They're also open later in the evening than the other lobster restaurants in the area, many of which close by 7 pm (they close at 8 pm). Just across the bridge as you leave Acadia, one of a dozen roadside lobster/seafood shacks. Was craving some fried haddock, and this place delivered exactly what I was looking for! Wick'd fresh haddock with a light batter coating that didn't overwhelm. Cocked perfectly, crisp, hot, flakey, and not greasy. Tarter sauce was on point, and they even had malt vinegar for the fries.
